[Bug 1323729] Re: Remove Open vSwitch and Linuxbridge plugins from the Neutron tree

2014-11-01 Thread Édouard Thuleau
The devstack fix [1] removed all linux bridge agent configuration files
and we are no more able to setup LinuxBridge agent with the ML2 plugin.
It's a huge regression.

I proposed to revert that fix for the moment and propose another review
to clean devstack for the monolitycs plugin OVS and LB EOL. What do you
think?

[Bug 1388279] Re: suspend hangs when unloading module

2014-11-01 Thread Jürgen
I changed the 00sleep_module to unload (only) ic2_hid and now suspend works
and the touchpad comes back after resume.
While testing I got a kernel panic unloading ic2_hid manually once. Maybe its
a problem with the kernel.

Otherwise everything seems to work now

[Bug 921208] Re: win7/x64 installer hangs on startup with 0x0000005d.

2014-11-01 Thread Michael Tokarev
I'm not sure I follow. I tried to answer to the last inquiry in this
bugreport, Eduardo asked if someone can confirm that +nx solves this
problem (it doesn't). Now you say with certainity that it is a bug in
TCG (if it is a bug, why only uncertain guesses are present in this
bugreport?), mentions some experimental patch on the mailing list
without providing any details (maybe you suggest trying ALL patches with
the word experimental in them?), and also say tha I _should_ have a
look at it -- why should I? I never tried to run win7 64bit in tcg
until yesterday, and yesterday I tried it just because someone reported
a problem with it, pointing to this bugreport...

Thanks,

/mjt

[Bug 1310800] Re: 056a:0302 Trusty Tahr, kernel 3.13: automatic load of wacom.ko driver cause a hard kernel panic

2014-11-01 Thread Shuhao
So I have a system that this happens to. Tablet model is CTH480S.

The thing is that this setup used to work until today (kernel update 2
days ago? Although running with an old version of the kernel show the
same problem now).

The work around is add wacom into /etc/modules for now, if anyone is
interested. This adds wacom to be loaded at boot time. Not sure what the
consequence of this is, but it's a temporary solution until this problem
is tracked down.

[Bug 1385630] Re: systemd 215 hangs during boot

2014-11-01 Thread Harry
Hi Martin,

True, I cannot switch between tty's. The whole system is unresponsive to
any keyboard commands.

About SysRQ (reisub): I cannot try it, because in my keyboard (Logitech K740)
there is no SysRQ button.
Usually it is the alt-function of the PrintScreen button, but not here.

About the kernels. I have seen this hanging behaviour with the Ubuntu kernels
3.16.0-23 and 3.16.0-24 (the latest).
But always with quiet in the kernel booting line.
If I remove quiet and turn to verbose mode, the booting will significantly
slow down (because of the rolling text lines in the screen), but I haven't seen
these hangs then.
In the log files, there is nothing, no errors about this.
Only one in x.log pointing that vesa module is not present. But I do not have
vesa driver installed, instead I have modesetting and fbdev installed. They are
loaded fine. And of course the Intel driver, the loading of which always
succeeds.

[Bug 1385630] Re: systemd 215 hangs during boot

2014-11-01 Thread Harry
Martin,

In addition the previous post #8

I tried again booting without quiet in the kernel line: 10/10 boots were
successful.
Then with quiet: 3 out of 10 did hang.

Hanging (or crash) happens right after the fsck is done.
Mostly after sda1 fsck and before sdb1 fsck.
Sometimes both sda1 and sdb1 fsck lines are visible after the hang, indicating
they both been done.

So, if booting always succeeds without quiet (slow boot) and hang only occurs
with quiet (fast boot),
can that be an indication of an unsuccessful race condition, followed by a hang
or crash?
And why systemd 208 was always successful, but 215 not?

[Bug 1388327] [NEW] Screencasting on desktop can not capture many Unity Elements like dash default compiz effects (scale) on Vivid

2014-11-01 Thread Khurshid Alam
Public bug reported:

Desktop Recording tool used: gtk-recordmydesktop, kazaam
Ubuntu releases used for testing: Vivid Utopic

Problem:

1. Unity elements are not visible in the video like dash sometime right
click menu.

2. Sometime the windows (any) are not visible appears transparent.

3. It failed to capture any default compiz effect like scale (Super+w)

4. Sometime after completing recording it saves the previously recorded
video! (until I run compiz --replace).

For example, in this video (http://youtu.be/JQT6LTUXIe8), I opened dash,
searched for terminal opened it. But in the video nothing is visible.

However, recording works very well in *NON-Compiz* session, i.e.
gnome-flashback (metacity).

[Bug 1388276] Re: 14.10 about 2 to 3 times slower to perform concurrent tasks

2014-11-01 Thread Emmanuel Stapf [ES]
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected utopic

** Description changed:

I've just upgraded two servers to use 14.10 (they were before at 14.04) and
found that my builds were taking much longer:
  - A jenkins regression test suite that took about 135 minutes is now taking
about 300 minutes.
  - A C complation tasks which took the following amount of time (time from
tcsh):
   419.633u 9.471s 1:36.78 443.3% 0+0k 0+166968io 0pf+0w
  is now taking
   519.637u 11.022s 4:42.80 187.6% 0+0k 0+176216io 0pf+0w

Both tasks are heavily using all the available cores of the processor.
In one case it is a dual socket E5420 ( 8 cores), in another case it is
  a virtualized 8 cores E5645.

I first thought it could be the new version of gcc (4.9) since both
tasks involves a lot of C compilation. Although gcc 4.9 is slower (3s vs
2.8s in my own tests) it is not enough to explain the difference. I
actually also tried using gcc 4.8 and 4.7 with the same performance
  degradation.

I unfortunately do not have a 14.04 server to which I can compare the
results to see where the difference is in terms of performance.

Is anyone observing the same behavior?

[Bug 1387894] Re: [Dell Inc. XPS 8300] hibernate/resume failure [non-free: nvidia]

2014-11-01 Thread ktulu77
Hi,

I have installed the 3 packages for the last upstream kernel (3.18.0-031800rc2)
The installation is ok but when I restarted, my computer was unable to boot. It
showed me a console starting with (initramfs). And the error was that it did
not find the disk with the uuid ...

So I am stuck. I rebooted with my old kernel (3.16)

Thank you again, thad-fisch. I did not realize that redshift was a cli

now running for me.

The man page is very helpful as well; thank you for that.

I blogged about this nice bug-reporting experience:

Can I mention you by name there?

[Bug 172262]

2014-11-01 Thread JBF
It is still impossible to retrieve the filename and the path of a video
inserted as a link.
It is less uncomfortable when the video is embedded but the problem is the
same, once the video has been inserted you can't know where the file comes from.

Tested with the current master. Version: 4.4.0.0.alpha1+
Build ID: 3e2dfde73b46526b901c0c38b1e9b2a4872761ac

Best regards. JBF

[Bug 1388333] [NEW] CVE-2014-8483: out-of-bounds read in ECB Blowfish decryption

2014-11-01 Thread Felix Geyer
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

https://github.com/quassel/quassel/commit/8b5ecd226f9208af3074b33d3b7cf5e14f55b138

Check for invalid input in encrypted buffers

The ECB Blowfish decryption function assumed that encrypted input would
always come in blocks of 12 characters, as specified. However, buggy
clients or annoying people may not adhere to that assumption, causing
the core to crash while trying to process the invalid base64 input.

[Bug 1387420] Re: System freezes when performing a backup bash script

2014-11-01 Thread The Aviv
I was unable to test the latest upstream kernel, v3.18.0-031800rc2. The
system did not boot. It gave the following message:

Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems:
 - Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
   - Check rootdelay= (did the system wait long enough?)
   - Check root= (did the system wait for the right device?)
 - Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/0eadde87-8ed5-49d9-afdf-84d4b4ce6d9c does not exit.
Dropping to a shell!

[Bug 1388335] [NEW] Touchpad not deteted at all on 'Gigabyte M1405' notebook

2014-11-01 Thread Adam Francis
Public bug reported:

My touchpad does not appear in the list when i run cat
/proc/bus/input/devices. This is a brand new installation on this
notebook, Ubuntu has never been installed or operated before.

An external USB mouse works when it is connected (and is visible with
the above terminal command). The touchpad remains dead.

The touchpad works in windows 7 (dual boot system).

Using the instructions at

[Bug 756818] Re: Unity Live session nvidia display unuseable

2014-11-01 Thread cwsnyder
No real change in effect, Unity, GNOME 3.x, and Cinnamon still unusable.

Hardware was changed to a BioStar N68S38 motherboard/Athlon II x3 processor/8G
RAM/Graphics: Card: NVIDIA C61 [GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a]
   X.Org: 1.15.1 drivers: nouveau (unloaded: fbdev,vesa) Resolution:
1280x1024@60.0hz
GLX Renderer: Gallium 0.4 on NV4C GLX Version: 2.1 Mesa 10.1.3
Monitor: Etronix 1701B 17 1280x1024 LCD display does not give proper edid
I can now sometimes get a stable display on one of the three above DEs.until I
attempt to actually open menu items, then the display freezes or goes for
repeated pattern of dots on the screen, in either case the display freezes
after a few seconds, requiring hard reset or power cycling
Knoppix with LXDE Compiz works fine, as does Bodhi 2.x and 3.x and Xubuntu
and Mate have remained working with no problems.
I am thinking that all three of the above do not handle the case where the edid
is not returned from the monitor to the computer acceptably.
My only other monitor had been an old NEC Multisync II (800x600), but I
obtained a Sansui model SLED 2900 I television/monitor and seeking confirmation.

[Bug 1388276] Re: 14.10 about 2 to 3 times slower to perform concurrent tasks

2014-11-01 Thread Emmanuel Stapf [ES]
apport information

[Bug 1388072] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad X230 Tablet] USB devices in docking station no longer working after resuming from long standby

2014-11-01 Thread Adam Lyall
Just tried Linux Kernel 3.18.0-031800rc2_3.18.0-031800rc2.201410262035
from the PPA which simply fails to properly boot and falls to a busybox
console because for some reason it fails to find the root drive.
Considering its an rc2 release it was not unexpected to run into some
unrelated issues. FYI the failed boot output was:

Gave up waiting for root device. Common problems:
- Boot args (cat /proc/cmdline)
  - Check rootdelay= (did the system waut long enough?)
  - Check root= (did the system wait for the right device?)
- Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)
ALERT! /dev/disk/by-uuid/MYROOT-DRIVE-UUID does not exist. Dropping to a shell!

BusyBox v1.22.1 (Ubuntu 1:1.22.0-8ubuntu1) built-in shell (ash)

I'm now running 3.17.1-031701_3.17.1-031701.201410150735_all instead. If
I don't get the issue I will report back end of next week as it takes a
while for it to get triggered.

[Bug 1388276] Re: 14.10 about 2 to 3 times slower to perform concurrent tasks

2014-11-01 Thread Emmanuel Stapf [ES]
The first set of files sent by apport-collect is when running kernel
3.13, the second set is when running kernel 3.16.

I can easily send a package of files that should reproduce the problem.
The only requirement is to have gcc/make installed and some files needed
to compile the C package.

** Tags added: apport-collected trusty

** Description changed:

My touchpad does not appear in the list when i run cat
/proc/bus/input/devices. This is a brand new installation on this
notebook, Ubuntu has never been installed or operated before.

An external USB mouse works when it is connected (and is visible with
the above terminal command). The touchpad remains dead.

The touchpad works in windows 7 (dual boot system).
