[Bug 1389858] Re: Libreoffice calc 4.2.7-0ubuntu1 not updating references after sort

2014-11-06 Thread JBF
Hi Bjoern,

I didn't say the contrary, I said that, with LO 4.3.4.0.0+ and LO
4.4.0.0.alpha1+, it works too as expected if the option is set to false.
It should be the same in LO 4.2.7 because the value false for the option
is intended to be there for backward compatibility. So if it does not
work as expected with option set to false, it is a bug.

Best regards. JBF

[Bug 1390136] [NEW] need a transition state for indicators reflecting laggy backends

2014-11-06 Thread kevin gunn
Public bug reported:

spawned from efforts in bug 1336715

because the user's input toggle for airplane mode is both a reflection
of user intent & the state of the backendand the backend is
unfortunately variable & lengthy to change (anywhere from 1 to ~10+
seconds sometimes) we need to have an intermediate/transition
statee.g. toggle to airplane mode onthen animate somehow that
there's a transition happening, until it either fails/succeeds

comment from dizzypaty

Between the user’s action of toggling the airplane switcher on and/or
off and the backend updating the state, the indicator icon displayed on
the statusbar should be the following: network-idle.svg

[Bug 1390132] [NEW] Cannot change the maximum number of filedescriptors

2014-11-06 Thread Emanuele Rocca
Public bug reported:

The max_filedescriptors configuration directive is being ignored on
Trusty.

To reproduce the problem, set max_filedescriptors in squid.conf and run
the following command:

squid3 -k parse 2>&1|grep max_filedescriptors

The following output should result.

2014/11/06 15:21:15| WARNING: max_filedescriptors disabled. Operating
System setrlimit(RLIMIT_NOFILE) is missing.

Indeed, regardless of the max_filedescriptors value specified in
squid.conf, squid will run with a maximum of 65536 file descriptors
available. This can be verified with:

grep 'file descriptor' /var/log/squid3/cache.log
2014/11/06 15:30:45| With 65536 file descriptors available

The reason for this is that squid has been built with --with-
filedescriptors=65536

Rebuilding the package without --with-filedescriptors, squid honors the
maximum number of open file descriptors set with ulimit.

Fedora also had a similar problem:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?format=multiple&id=976815

Thanks,
  Emanuele

Re: [Bug 1388418] Re: Chromium-crashes every time I load some webs

2014-11-06 Thread manuti
After a crash my laptop is completely locked and need to reboot.
Is there any way to run Chromiun isolated to avoid the lock and copy the
dmesg output?
Is there any way to run Chromiun in debug mode or something like this to
avoid the lock and record more info about this issue?
Thanks

[Bug 1373261] Re: pserv.yaml rewrite breaks when MAAS URL uses IPv6 address

2014-11-06 Thread Jeroen T. Vermeulen
** Description changed:

- Reconfiguring between an IPv4-based and an IPv6-based MAAS_URL broke the
- ‘generator’ setting in my pserv.yaml: it ended up being the full IPv4
- netloc, with most of the IPv6 netloc tacked onto it.
+ Reconfiguring when the existing MAAS_URL used an IPv6 host address broke
+ the ‘generator’ setting in my pserv.yaml: it ended up being the full
+ newly configured netloc, with most of the previous IPv6 netloc tacked
+ onto it.

I think that's because the regex in maas-cluster-controller.postinst
mistakes the first colon in an IPv6 address for the beginning of a port
  specifier:

- sed -i "s|MAAS_URL=.*|MAAS_URL=\"$RET\"|" /etc/maas/maas_cluster.conf
- # Extract the hostname part.
- HOSTPART=$(echo $RET|awk '{ split($0,array,"/")} END{print array[3]
}')
- # And substitute it in-place in pserv.yaml on an indented,
non-commented
- # line.
- sed -ri
"s|^([[:space:]]+)(#+[[:space:]]*)?(generator:[[:space:]]+https?://)[^:/]+|\1\3$HOSTPART|"
 /etc/maas/pserv.yaml
+ sed -i "s|MAAS_URL=.*|MAAS_URL=\"$RET\"|" /etc/maas/maas_cluster.conf
+ # Extract the hostname part.
+ HOSTPART=$(echo $RET|awk '{ split($0,array,"/")} END{print array[3]
}')
+ # And substitute it in-place in pserv.yaml on an indented,
non-commented
+ # line.
+ sed -ri
"s|^([[:space:]]+)(#+[[:space:]]*)?(generator:[[:space:]]+https?://)[^:/]+|\1\3$HOSTPART|"
 /etc/maas/pserv.yaml

These things are still best done in Python I suppose.

[Bug 1389304] Re: Kernel trace during encrypted home dir vivid desktop installations (async_page_fault)

2014-11-06 Thread Andy Whitcroft
Ok the OOM killer is in play here so we have clearly run out of memory:

Nov 4 13:08:50 utah-29294-vivid-amd64 kernel: [ 245.136816] gtk-
update-icon invoked oom-killer: gfp_mask=0x201da, order=0,
oom_score_adj=-1000

1) does UTAH configure the system with any swap, and
2) how much overhead does UTAH contribute in the running image monitoring it.

[Bug 1389275] Re: Updating from 14.04 to 14.10 created a snapshot, but it did so AFTER updating the sources.

2014-11-06 Thread James Lewis
+Tim Gardner

I completely agree, I could swear I put update-manager in the bug
originally... I guess it's not a "published" feature that update-
manager takes a snapshot before upgrading, and there's clearly no GUI
way to roll back, but this is a truely great feature, it saved my bacon
so I'm glad it's there, but I thought it was worth reporting that the
point where the snapshot is taken is a little too late in the process.

[Bug 1334617] Re: [X550LB, Realtek ALC233, Mic, Internal] not working Ubuntu 14.04

2014-11-06 Thread Marcelo Alcocer
Had the same issue with an ASUS S551LN (Realtek ALC233, Internal Mic, combo
microphone/headphone jack).
After playing around a lot, the following settings in the alsamixer finally
seemed to do the trick:

1) Playback->Mic: 100%
2) Playback->Mic Boost: 0%
3) Capture->Capture: 100%
4) Capture->Mic Boost: 0%

This resulted in what looked like a very low mic level in pulseaudio,
but the internal mic works fine. Changing any mic setting from
pulseaudio immediately increases the boost in alsamixer and kills mic
input.

Hope it's of some use

[Bug 1389675] Re: Function keys will not adjust brightness

2014-11-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Paul B, I've updated the wiki to clarify which architecture to test, and
what the installation command means. As you are using a 64-bit OS, you
would want to follow the amd64 instructions.

As well, there isn't a high likelihood of making your install
unbootable. If the kernel doesn't work for whatever reason, one may
simply boot into the default kernel and follow the support instructions
to remove the mainline kernel.

I had the same problem when upgrading 14.04 to 14.10 on VirtualBox
4.3.12 r93733, running on Windows 7/x64.

To fix this:

1. Press Shift key during booting to get Grub's prompt
2. Choose Advanced options for Ubuntu from the menu
3. Choose Ubuntu, with Linux 3.16.0-24-generic (recovery mode)
4. Choose dpkg: Repair broken packages
5. Choose resume; the system goes up fine (and this persists for the next
reboot, too)!

2014-11-06 Thread zebul666
only the spamming issue I guess.

However I have tried the oibaf ppa that provides a complete more on the edge
graphic stack.
It worked, at least a little better as I was able to play at least 2 hours
without a freeze

see https://launchpad.net/~oibaf/+archive/ubuntu/graphics-drivers
you can easily revert to default graphic driver if needed as explained

[Bug 1389675] Re: Function keys will not adjust brightness

2014-11-06 Thread Paul B
Hi Christopher,

I updated the BIOS, but the function keys still do not adjust the
brightness. Having entered this command:

sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

I get this:

X551MA.513
09/09/2014

As far as updating the kernel... Is it very likely that this will make
Ubuntu unbootable? I don't want to just create more problems trying to
solve this one.

The instructions are also pretty vague for someone who doesn't already
know that they are doing. For example, I am not actually sure if I
should use the amd64 or the i386 build. Next, having downloaded these
packages, I am supposed to enter

sudo dpkg -i *.deb

Well, according to the instructions, there's not just one package to be
installed, but three, if I am reading it right. So do I enter sudo dpkg -i
*.deb for each package individually, or do I enter
sudo dpkg -i *[1].deb *[2].deb *[3].deb ?

And there's a whole bunch of other stuff too:

[Bug 1124250] Re: Partially incorrect uid mapping with nfs4/idmapd/ldap-auth

2014-11-06 Thread Bryan Quigley
@Dariusz

My understanding is that we can't backport a config change (say to
trusty). Since that was done upstream won't it just hit vivid in it's
own time? In the mean time, this is configurable so a user can change
their config in trusty.
