[Bug 1402962] Re: qtpim fails to build against Qt 5.4.0 on i386

2014-12-15 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Renato, could you look at this? I'm not seeing similar problems in other
packages, so it seems to be limited to qtpim only, and indeed on i386
only (can be reproduced in eg 32-bit chroot).

[Bug 1402956] Re: virtualbox-dkms 4.1.12-dfsg-2ubuntu0.6: virtualbox kernel module failed to build

2014-12-15 Thread Neil
This problem occured while attempting to install virtualbox. I was
installing it in an attempt to overcome a problem that started after
system updates on 12/12/14, after those updates VMplayer failed to run,
every attempt to run resulted in my system returning to the ubuntu login
screen. I uninstalled/reinstalled vmplayer no result. I upgraded to the
latest VMplayer no result. Finally tried virtualbox, no result. As far
as I can tell something that happened on 12/12/14 has destroyed my
systems ability to run virtualization.

2014-12-15 Thread LocutusOfBorg
Hi Bill, the patch was useful to me, to upload a fixed version into my ppa.
Now if you can test the ppa and report back positive feedbacks I'll ask a
sponsor to make the fix be uploaded into the ubuntu repositories.

there is no more need to build it yourself :-)

to add the repository
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:costamagnagianfranco/locutusofborg-ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install virtualbox (or upgrade)

[Bug 1402941] Re: Sound stutters when I try to change volume

2014-12-15 Thread Zak Espley
IDK if this is relevant either but before I reported this bug it cause
my computer to freeze. I restarted and went to report the bug. I ran
ubuntu-bug command and selected audio problems. Then it went through
it's thing and I gave me a list of hardware to select. I selected
Internal-Speaker and continued. I then recreated the bug for the bug
report. Continued through the process but I didn't realize I needed to
report it from my browser. So I ended up exiting the new tab by
accident. I forgot about Ctrl+Shift+T and just decided to make a new bug
report.

On my second try I ran the ubuntu-bug command. I selected audio problem
again. But this time, when it popped up with a list of hardware, my
Internal-Speaker wasn't there anymore. I had to select the HD-Audio-
Generic.

So something happened after the error that made it not recognize my
hardware.

[Bug 1292118] Re: virtualbox-dkms 4.1.12-dfsg-2ubuntu0.6: virtualbox kernel module failed to build [error: incompatible types when returning type ‘kuid_t’ but ‘RTUID’ was expected]

2014-12-15 Thread undefined
yes, that's because you don't have a pristine precise sources.list (ie
no more than main, universe, multiverse, & restricted from precise,
precise-updates, and precise-security; no ppas or backports).

apt-get source virtualbox=4.1.12-dfsg-2ubuntu0.6
apt-get build-dep virtualbox=4.1.12-dfsg-2ubuntu0.6

i did make a mistake earlier in saying "apt-get install build-dep", but
a quick trip to the apt-get man page would have straightened a person
out.

[Bug 1402941] [NEW] Sound stutters when I try to change volume

2014-12-15 Thread Zak Espley
Public bug reported:

IF I am trying to watch a video or just have a few tabs open in Chromium
and I attempt to change the volume it stutters. If I was watching a
video, or there was any other audio, when this happens it just repeats
that same couple milliseconds over and over for 5-10 seconds and then
the volume finally changes.

[Bug 1392012] Re: [MIR] libteam

2014-12-15 Thread Seth Arnold
I reviewed libteam version 1.12-1 as checked into vivid. This should not
be considered a full security audit but rather a quick gauge of
maintainability.

- libteam provides a userspace interface to manage different kinds of
network interface bonding; it uses json-based configuration files to
configure kernel interfaces using netlink, among other tasks
- Build-Depends: debhelper, dh-autoreconf, libdaemon-dev, libdbus-1-dev,
  libjansson-dev, libnl-3-dev, libnl-cli-3-dev, libnl-genl-3-dev,
  libnl-route-3-dev, pkg-config
- No cryptography
- Extensive networking
- Daemonizes using libdaemon, assumed fine
- pre/post inst/rm automatically generated
- No initscripts
- No dbus
- No setuid
- No sudo fragments
- No udev rules
- Provides teamdctl, teamnl, bond2team, teamd binaries in /usr/bin
- No test suite
- No cron jobs
- Clean build logs

- No subprocesses spawned
- Most memory management looks safe; several potential memory leaks,
  pidfile handling is curious
- No direct writing to files, logging function can be changed
- Extensive privileged operations to manipulate networking stack
- No cryptography
- Extensive network administrative, can use zmq or unix domain sockets to
  talk with drivers
- No temporary files
- No privileged portions of code
- No WebKit
- No JavaScript
- No PolicyKit
- Noisy cppcheck, found several flaws and some odd operations probably
designed to silence a poor static analysis checker

libteam is mixed-quality code; some portions look like they are fairly
solid while other portions feel heavily "over engineered" or made
prematurely pluggable. The pidfile handling is awkward, some of the json
APIs introduce many layers of "shim" functions that seem pointless, and
there's a repeated use of assigning uninitialized variables to themselves,
presumably to silence some poor static analysis tool. (Discovered in part
by cppcheck, which reported these and other more serious issues.)

libteam would probably benefit strongly from signing up for Coverity
scans.

While many of the items listed below may not be actual issues when call
graphs are followed through to their entirety, the fact that they looked
like issues on a quick inspection gives me the feeling that the code is
still brittle and unreviewed in places:

- char *recvmsg = recvmsg;
Aliasing a system call is really poor form.
- The json_obj in teamd_config_path_exists() is passed to
teamd_config_object_get() without being used. It is then passed to
teamd_json_path_lite_va() without being used. It is then passed to
__teamd_json_path_lite_va(), which assigns to it. This API is
  complicated for no reason.
- Strongly suspect __teamd_json_path_lite_va() is buggy

Awkward construct used over and over again for no reason:

- json_t *json_obj = json_obj;
- int fd = fd;
- struct dispatch_priv *dp = dp;
- char *msg = msg;
- json_t *val_json_obj = val_json_obj;
- json_t *vg_json_obj = vg_json_obj;
- int ret = ret;

- run_cmd_getoption() can leak 'buf' if realloc() fails, the usual
approach is to use a different lvalue.

- update_phys_port_id() doesn't validate phys_port_id_len is positive or
  less than MAX_PHYS_PORT_ID_LEN; doesn't validate that phys_port_id
  isn't NULL.

- cli_zmq_recv() "zmq: send failed" message is incorrect, a recv failed

- __strencode() walks str five separate times

- pid file handling is unusual and awkward; a function pointer that is
used to call a statically declared function a few lines after
definition, the only job of the function is to return a global
  variable that points towards dynamically allocated ctx structures;
action-at-a-distance initialization via teamd_context_init(). Why is
it so much more complicated than most programs?

- __slow_addr_add_del() memcpy() to ifr.ifr_name uses strlen(devname)
rather than size of the destination. This may mean ifr.ifr_name isn't
NUL terminated if the name is exactly IF_NAMESIZE bytes long, or may
overflow the buffer space available if devname is longer. (The struct
  teamd_port doesn't restrict the size of devname=ifname.)

- __set_sockaddr() may leak memory from getaddrinfo() in "should not
  happen" case

- lw_tipc_load_options() memory leak in strlen >= TIPC_MAX_BEARER_NAME
  case

- lw_tipc_link_state_change() no malloc NULL check, memory allocation
failure could kill the whole daemon

I propose the following path for including libteam into main:

- Fix all cppcheck errors
- Rename 'recvmsg' variable to not alias a system call
- Fix memory leaks in
  - __set_sockaddr()
  - lw_tipc_load_options()
  - run_cmd_getoption()
- Fix lw_tipc_link_state_change() missing malloc NULL check
- Modify update_phys_port_id() to impose upper and lower bounds on
  phys_port_id_len
- Modify __slow_addr_add_del() to ensure the amount of data copied to
ifr.ifr_name doesn't exceed the space available

I think the program would be stronger and more reliable if the pidfile
handling is addressed; this would be a much larger modification than the
conditions abov

[Bug 278941] Re: glslideshow keeps showing the same image

2014-12-15 Thread Brendan Grieve
Sorry for double post. I don't believe this is a bug and can safely be
closed. I do recommend however that the default config have matching
pan/duration as it will then behave as a normal user expects.

[Bug 278941] Re: glslideshow keeps showing the same image

2014-12-15 Thread Brendan Grieve
I'll add my 2c as I decided to do a strace on the config.

For KDE the configuration file is: -
  ~/.kde/share/config/glslideshowrc

Simply updating it to have matching pan/duration fixes the "issue". No
need to install xscreensaver.

[Bug 1004197] Re: Opening new server opens to black the first time

2014-12-15 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
rs232, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and trying to
help make Ubuntu better. However, a Remmina PPA is not a software
package provided by the official Ubuntu repositories. Because of this
the Ubuntu project can not support or fix your particular bug. Please
report this bug to the provider of the software package. Thanks!

If you are interested in learning more about software repositories and
Ubuntu, check https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Repositories .

If this is reproducible in a supported release with a version of Remmina
from the Ubuntu repository, please file a new report (not reopen this
one) and provide the missing information following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Remmina .

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1319146] Re: new installation of 14.04LTS, no panel or launcher

2014-12-15 Thread ealthuis
No that did not help.

The problem with mouse clicks remains, also clicking the touch pad is
not responded to. This is within Unity, in an app clicking works Ok i.e
Firefox or VirtualBox etc.

I also cannot change the appearance even though the appearance app shows
the new background.

As far as I know these are the only (smaller) problems left to deal
with.

When I executed the first line of your sequence below, I didn't get the
virtualbox version your second line needs. Instead, I got:
 virtualbox-4.3_4.3.16-95972~Ubuntu~raring_amd64.deb
It was dated Oct. 6, and located in ~/Downloads
Did I miss something?

[Bug 1032023] Re: remmina crashed with SIGSEGV in remmina_rdp_cliprdr_parse_response_event()

2014-12-15 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
feiy, et. al., thank you for taking the time to report this bug and
helping to make Ubuntu better. However, I am closing it because the bug
has been fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Vivid
Vervet.

This is a significant bug in Ubuntu. If you need a fix for the bug in
previous versions of Ubuntu, please perform as much as possible of the
SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.

[Bug 1338328] Re: Flickr API changed to https-only, Flickr export from kipi-plugins only uses http

2014-12-15 Thread Rob Bruce
"So this means we can expect a fix for the Digikam version in the Ubuntu
repos in the near future?"

I hope I'm reading this wrong, but from the kde.org bug tracker, it
looks like this issue is fixed in kipi version 4.2.0. And 4.2.0 is in
Utopic (and later) distro versions. For *Ubuntu LTS users, that means a
fix should appear in the 2nd quarter of 2016 with the 16.04 release,
right? Xeric Xolo, maybe? That's less than a year and a half.

2014-12-15 Thread XiaoGuo, Liu
Hi Alex,

I do not know whether it will be landed in the ww51-2014. Last weekend,
I re-installed everything, and the problem still existed. It happened even
during the video recording on my desktop. It was quite embarrassing. I
will have one more try. Could you please help to push it to make it happen?

Thanks & best regards,
XiaoGuo

[Bug 998589] Re: remmina "1" button broken in Precise

2014-12-15 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
** Attachment added: "screenshot2.png"

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/remmina/+bug/998589/+attachment/4281800/+files/screenshot2.png

** Description changed:

- Broken on my recently-upgraded-from-Oneiric workstation:
+ 1) lsb_release -rd
+ Description: Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
+ Release: 14.04

- Suddenly, clicking the "resize window to remote display" button (the "1"
- button) in a Remmina connection results in a really bizarre, stretched-
- taller-vertically-than-my-monitor window with nothing but featureless
- grey in the middle of it. It's basically screwed from that point on out
- (right-clicking the window handle on the taskbar and maximizing will at
- least bring the display visible, but all the controls - including tabs
- to select different sessions - will still be missing) until I close
- remmina and delete the preferences file from ~/.remmina/. After
- deleting the prefs file and restarting Remmina, things will be back to
- normal - but if I click the "1" button, they'll screw right back up
- again.
+ 2) apt-cache policy remmina
+ remmina:
+ Installed: 1.0.0-4ubuntu3
+ Candidate: 1.0.0-4ubuntu3
+ Version table:
+ *** 1.0.0-4ubuntu3 0
+ 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages
+ 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

- It didn't do that in Oneiric! :)
+ 3) What is expected to happen when remoting into a Windows machine,
+ example configuration for a scratch build of Microsoft Windows Vista
+ Business x86 6.0.6002 Service Pack 2 Build 6002 with nothing installed
+ at
+
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/remmina/+bug/998589/+attachment/4281799/+files/screenshot.png
+ , is when one clicks the top left button "Resize the window to fit in
+ remote resolution (Control_R + 1)" is the window is resized
+ appropriately to the remote resolution.

- Note: not sure if it's relevant, but I'm running lubuntu-desktop.
- ---
+ 4) What happens instead the window resizes to a height taller then the screen
is vertically, and one of the following outcomes:
+ + It resizes the remoted OS correctly.
+ + Shows one half a black screen vertically at the top and the next half of
the remoted operating system at the bottom.
+ + A black screen as per
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/remmina/+bug/998589/+attachment/4281800/+files/screenshot2.png
 .
+
+ This is reported to be a regression from Oneiric to Precise. As well, it
+ can have varying collateral effects based on the desktop environment.
+ For example, right-clicking the window handle on the taskbar and
+ maximizing will at least bring the display visible, but all the controls
+ - including tabs to select different sessions - will still be missing
+ until I close remmina and delete the preferences file from ~/.remmina/.
+ After deleting the prefs file and restarting Remmina, things will be
+ restored.

[Bug 1386144] Re: juju-core 1.20.11 is not packaged in Ubuntu

2014-12-15 Thread Curtis Hovey
** Description changed:

juju-core 1.20.11 is proposed for release upstream.

We're now in a position to have this enter trusty-proposed and vivid-
proposed, but it should not land in trusty-updates or vivid until
upstream passes QA on our proposed binaries, published 1.20.11 tools in
their stable simplestream and announces the release for general
  production use.

  [SRU Information]

juju-core has a stable release exception in
  https://wiki.ubuntu.com/StableReleaseUpdates/MicroReleaseExceptions,
  including for major version updates.

  [Development Fix]

Full backport of new upstream release. racb will remove the block-
proposed tag when verification has passed, and then this update should
  migrate to vivid.

  [Stable Fix]

Full backport of new upstream release.

  [QA Status]

Since there are multiple verifications required, they are listed here as
a work item whiteboard status type thing rather than try and track them
in a single tag. Please do not mark verification-done or remove block-
proposed until all following items have passed. If any of these items
fail, this bug should be marked verification-failed immediately.

[sinzui] Upsteam QA test against Vivid: DONE
[sinzui] Upstream QA test against Trusty: DONE
[sinzui] Upstream release process complete: DONE

  Manual tests required:

- [racb] Test juju-quickstart against vivid-proposed: TODO
+ [sinzui] Test juju-quickstart against vivid-proposed: DONE
[sinzui] Test juju-quickstart against trusty-proposed: Failed (see comment 11)

The following stakeholders have expressed an interest in performing
their own tests and we will wait for a (timely) acknowledgement from
them before removing the -proposed blocks. If you also have an interest
in testing new Juju releases before they land in an SRU, then please
  comment in this bug.

LP is designed for. So I've nominated vivid and utopic to have tasks
added, if you look up the top ^^^

** Summary changed:

- lttng-modules-dkms fails to build on updated Trusty kernel

[Bug 1320356] Re: mir-session doesn't loads

2014-12-15 Thread Guanlin zhu
The first time I found this bug is on Ubuntu 14.10. I was hopping that
it could be solved in 15.04, but the bug still occurred in the latest
distribution. Is it a possible reason that I run the image on the
virtual machine?
