apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected reproducible ubuntu ** Description changed: My laptop worked out of the box with ubuntu, which I actually expected so I didn't even bother to look in the internet if it does before buying it. There is one thing that is half-broken, though: If I close the computer it goes into suspend mode. If I open it again it resumes. But like with all other laptops I could test on after booting the computer's touchpad has tapping and two-finger-scroll enabled. After the first resume you can click only using the physical key even if the touchpad works fine otherwise. Turning off and re-enabling the scrolling functionality in gnome- control-panel doesn't make scrolling work again. [Bug 1325142] Re: failure to update libpam-systemd in 14.04 due to missing logind init script
very bad experience. ubuntu server 14.04 64bit, trying to fresh install on some older DELL machine (poweredge 1950) with software raid with separate /boot, swap and /tmp. everything seems to run ok, and after reboot, grub works ok (except that one has to make fast boot = 0, otherwise error message, but that is another bug with that save environment thing not working on raid in grub anyway), but when actually booting the system, after swap is turned on in second 13 or so, booting stops, and the machine freezes before the consoles are open, machine not reachable on the network. ok, rebooting from CD to rescue, but the network configuration is totally broken due to some misconfiguration of /etc/resolv.conf (pointing to ../run/resolvconf/whatever), needing to replace it manually with resolv.conf that is present while the live CD downloads the apt packages... but still system doesn't boot, so finally finding this page, and manually editing the prerm and post scripts of this terrible libpam- systemd package, getting the apt-get go through the install, and only then getting the booting working. hell with this ubuntu and my lost night! sorry, I am not going to produce any log files after the machine has been finally installed. no logfiles were produced anyway, the /target/var/log was just empty files. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1325142 Title: failure to update libpam-systemd in 14.04 due to missing logind init script To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1325142/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 117713] Re: WD external drives need to be spun down, "sdparm --command=stop" doesn't work any more
Peter, please do not apport-collect to another person's report, as you are not the original reporter. Linux Mint has a different procedure and location for tracking bug reports. If you want to file a report against Mint, please do so via their bug tracker located at https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+filebug . If you would like to file a bug in Ubuntu (not Mint), and so your problem and hardware may be tracked, please file a new report with Ubuntu by executing the following in a terminal while booted into the default Ubuntu kernel (not a mainline one) via: ubuntu-bug linux For more on this, please read the official Ubuntu documentation: Ubuntu Bug Control and Ubuntu Bug Squad: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/BestPractices#X.2BAC8-Reporting.Focus_on_One_Issue Ubuntu Kernel Team: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/KernelTeamBugPolicies#Filing_Kernel_Bug_reports https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/Policies/DuplicateBugs Ubuntu Community: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette When opening up the new report, please feel free to subscribe me to it. As well, please do not announce in this report you created a new bug report. Thank you for your understanding.
