[Bug 1404612] Re: Power management of the wireless LAN does not work.
katsu, if you are advising that you are unable to turn on wireless Power Management, because it is off by default, that is intentional, as the Power Management backend is not robust across devices. IIRC, turning it on and expecting it to work, or just turning it on are not presently supported due to this. [Bug 1406177] [NEW] [20ANCTO1WW, Realtek ALC3232, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all (speakers or headphones)
Public bug reported: justin@j-ll-len:~$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 14.10 Release:14.10 Expected: Sounds playback works out of the box on 14.10. What happens: Sound does not work out of the box on 14.10. Detailed report: After struggling and giving up on 14.04 on a Lenovo T440p (random complete lock-ups that wouldn't even respond to magic sysrq keys) I attempted 14.10 and it appears to work fine. No crashes, nvidia drivers install, all is well with the latest 2.28 BIOS version. This machine apparently has some issues with particular BIOS versions > 1.14 (https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/246834). No matter what sounds settings I fiddle (via the GUI sound settings or alsamixer from the terminal) I cannot get it to play the test sounds or sounds in an application (Chrome, etc). The card is not muted, and it is detected in sound settings. The machine came with Windows, but I did not test sound before installing Ubuntu. I will test that shortly and update the bug with those results (to help determine if it might be a hardware failure). Hopefully the bug has attached relevant log output from the command I ran "ubuntu-bug -s audio". But I'll aso attach the output of alsa-info.sh. [Bug 1404589] Re: [Satellite P50-B, Intel Haswell HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all
I've been going through the kernels and trying to determine what's going on, and a curious thing is happening. If I use a kernel that fixes my sound (v3.18.1-vivid, for example), and then use my old kernel again (v3.16.7-ck2), sound still works. However, if I boot into Windows 8, then return to Ubuntu (v3.16.7-ck2), sound no longer works. I've tested v3.17.1-utopic and I still have no sound, so I'm considering it as a bug-exists kernel. I'm currently downloading 3.18-rc2 to see if the bug is still present after purposefully losing my sound by booting into Windows 8. The download is going very slowly (close to 4 hours for a ~60MB file). Are there any additional mirrors for kernel images? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1404589 Title: [Satellite P50-B, Intel Haswell HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1404589/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1406132] Re: Radeon GFX card fails on 3.16.0-28
Jasper, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. Could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from the very top line at the top of the page (the release names are irrelevant for testing, and please do not test the daily folder) following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds ? It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. If the test did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER where VERSION-NUMBER is the version number of the kernel you tested exactly shown as: kernel-fixed-upstream-3.19-rc1 This can be done by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon next to the word Tags located at the bottom of the bug description. If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-VERSION-NUMBER Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug's Status as Confirmed. Please let us know your results. [Bug 409005] Re: [enhancement] Feature Request Email Notifications
Hi Julian, I'm not yet sure how to implement email notifications and after one year of working on 1.1.0 I really want to release that new major version now. So I skipped this enhancement for now (which means it will not make it into 1.1.0) but I'll pick this up again after the release.
