[Bug 1257706] Re: gpg-agent environment variables not correctly exported

I see, it's in extra.

Correction: the proposed xsession script is unnecessary, as the stock
90gpg-agent works fine when ~/.gnupg/gpg-agent.conf is correctly
populated, sorry for the blunder.

@xnox so you managed to do it via upstart instead of Xsession?
Interesting.

This appears to be a new problem since Alpha 2. I can confirm that xpad
was working without errors during testing of alpha 2.

I will download the Alpha 2 ISO and compare versions.

I have attached the output of ls -lR ~/.config
...there's nothing really there.

I added some debug output to download_tracker.cpp, registerError is
never getting called, which is the function connected to
Download::error.  I don't think ubuntu-download-manager is emitting the
error when the hash check fails.

[Bug 1306991] Re: pip stops with ImportError for request-Modul

2015-01-24 Thread Ohadcn
i experienced similar symptoms.
it finally turns out that the problem was the permissions of
/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages (and it's subfolders)
I'm still trying to figure out what it was that touched the permissions (or why
it has that permission from the begining), but running 'chmod 755
/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/* -R' fixed the problem.
hope it will help you too.

Weird, I remember getting errors from download manager when testing the click

Perhaps something changed in download manager since we landed this in the scope

Btw, is there any package in the staging store with broken hash? We can
try installing it with the click scope.

[Bug 1414392] [NEW] The geary desktop email client seems to lag when I try to write a reply to an email message

2015-01-24 Thread Istimsak
Public bug reported:

When I start typing text, the program stalls for a few seconds and then
displays the characters, very slowly. It drags itself and only displays
one character at a time. I had to minize the program window and bring it

[Bug 888901] [NEW] gtk_progress_bar_set_fraction with certain values causes text to disappear

2015-01-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I have the following layout:

GtkWidget *progress = gtk_progress_bar_new();
gtk_progress_bar_set_show_text(GTK_PROGRESS_BAR(progress), TRUE);

GtkWidget *elapsedTime = gtk_label_new(00:00:00.0);
GtkWidget *totalTime   = gtk_label_new(00:00:00.0);

GtkWidget *hlayout = gtk_hbox_new(FALSE, 4);
gtk_box_pack_start(GTK_BOX(hlayout), elapsedTime, FALSE, FALSE, 4);
gtk_box_pack_start(GTK_BOX(hlayout), progress, TRUE, TRUE, 0);
gtk_box_pack_start(GTK_BOX(hlayout), totalTime, FALSE, FALSE, 4);

GtkWidget *layout = gtk_vbox_new(TRUE, 0);
gtk_box_pack_start(GTK_BOX(layout), hlayout, FALSE, FALSE, 0);

That I update periodically:

gtk_progress_bar_set_text(GTK_PROGRESS_BAR(progress), Text);
gtk_progress_bar_set_fraction(GTK_PROGRESS_BAR(progress), fraction);

gtk_label_set_text(GTK_LABEL(elapsedTime), 00:00);
gtk_label_set_text(GTK_LABEL(totalTime), 00:00);

If fraction is set to certain values:

double fraction = 0.003033; // bad
double fraction = 0.004; // bad

the text in progress and totalTime fails to display in the Ambiance and
Radiance themes, while it does display in the Adwaita and High Contrast
themes.

Other values:

double fraction = 0.003; // good
double fraction = 0.005; // good

the text renders without a problem in all themes.

Because of release scheduling (Ubuntu and Flightgear) and release
policy, Utopic will have 3.0.0, while Vivid will likely have 3.4.0 once
it's released (scheduled date is February 17).

[Bug 1414124] Re: install reports unable to install grub to /dev/sdb

2015-01-24 Thread Eric Fontaine
I wanted to test if booting kubuntut testing dvd in efi mode and doing
oem install to /dev/sdb with the /dev/sda starting with zeros, and it
failed. Interestingly the syslog says grub installed, but then after
that says cant find partition info on /dev/sda and the kubuntu installer
reported a failure. So it seems this bug doesn't affect just legacy
mode boot.

[Bug 1223055] Re: System Hangs With Kernel Migration Processes Consuming 100% CPU

2015-01-24 Thread Kenneth Loafman

x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

The bug appears to be related directly to the number of processes. I
have 4 processors and 16GB of memory and normally only hit this problem
when I have greater than 1024 processes running (Chrome, Eclipse, VMware
w/3 VMs). I can recover from the problem if I am patient and shutdown
the 3 VMs, Chrome, and Eclipse, all heavy thread users. migration/x
goes away and the system returns to normal.

Is there a way to turn off migration in Ubuntu?

[Bug 1403827] Re: Unity sidebar sometimes not clickable after suspend

You did correctly. When this happens can you please run this in the terminal:
xwininfo -root -tree | grep launcher

and post here the output. Likely for some reason the input window has a
wrong geometry, the output should help us to see if this is the case.

[Bug 1414327] [NEW] Selecting option to disable need for Fn key when using Functions

2015-01-24 Thread David Chatterton
Public bug reported:

This is not necessarily a bug but a request for a minor enhancement.

On a laptop (eg Dell XPS 13), there are a number of functions programmed
into the funtion keys. These include keyboard brightness, screen
brightness, sound volume, playout start/pause etc. These currently need
the Fn key to be held down whilst selecting the function. (This often
requires two hands to do this.) The Apple MacBookPro has a keyboard
option to allow these functions to be selected by simply pressing the
keys (F1 - F12) without holding down the Fn key. If one of the F
functions is required (as a keyboard shortcut for an application) this
is optained by holding down the Fn key as well as pressing the F1 - F12
key. A checkbox on the Systems Settings Keyboard window would be a
convenient way of selecting the option.

Associated with such keyboard functions is the Backlight Brightness. It
would be useful to have a checkbox that allows the actual backlight
brightness to be remembered between sessions. Currently, a new session
starts up with maximum backlight brightness. In contrast, the sound
volume settings seem to be remembered between sessions as a default.
Since the Dell is equipped with a webcam, it would be useful to be able
to use the webcab to measure the ambient light and adjust the backlight
brightness to match. (Whether this is done as a default or is selectable
via a checkbox on the Systems Settings Brightness Lock window would
be an added enhancement. The Apple MacBookPro provides this facility.)

[Bug 1414230] Re: v14.04 screen garbled upon restart with external monitor

2015-01-24 Thread Viswa B
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected compiz-0.9 trusty ubuntu

** Description changed:

  I have installed Ubuntu 14.04 on a Acer Aspire One 722. Everything works
  fine on the laptop by itself. But if I connect the laptop to an external
  monitor (a HDTV in this instance) via a HDMI cable, the display on the
  laptop screen and on the external monitor work fine:

  1) until I close the screen of the laptop while the laptp is still on,
  let it go to sleep, and then open the screen and restart. At that point
  the laptop and external montor screens are black with some garbled
  characters. There is no way to recover the laptop but shut it down and
  perform a cold boot.

  2) and continue to do so if I use the suspend command (from the drop
  down menu from the top right corner of the screen). The laptop and the
  external monitor go dark when the computer suspends. Upon waking both
  the laptop screen and the external monitor work fine. Needless to say
  closing the lid after using the suspend command makes no difference.

  Any clues on what could be happening when I close the lid of the laptop
  to suspend the laptop?

[Bug 1267650] Re: fglrx causes segmentation fault on boot

2015-01-24 Thread mb74
I've exactly the same problem. Ubuntu 14.04 all updated. Tried fglrx,
fglrx-updates an Catalyst 14.12 Omega from AMD homepage. All versions
segfault on boot. Only the open source driver runs fine out of the box.
But playing highend games with the open source driver is not possible.
Performance too low :-(

My hardware: Lenovo G500 Core i5 and Radeon HD 8670A/8670M/8750M.
Please help!

gnome disk manager is describing /dev/sda as 1.0 TB, contents Unknown,

Could the issue have been earlier in the partition table setup, and not

[Bug 1340673] Re: SIM PIN Unlock Required dialog shows up after every resume

2015-01-24 Thread mio75
Same here, also on ThinkPad 420s with the same Ericsson modem.

In addition, sometimes after confirming the PIN, it would tell me
serial command timed out after a few seconds. It usually works at the
second or third try. (It did't appear to me that I could just cancel the
dialog instead)

I recently updated from 12.04, where the issue was a little different:
There, the dialog would not appear after every resume, but apparently
randomly after some resumes.

[Bug 1414124] Re: install reports unable to install grub to /dev/sdb

2015-01-24 Thread Eric Fontaine
I'm opening /dev/sda in hexedit and see 0's for the first 0x3FF0
bytes. Which is exactly the result of dd 1gb of zeros into /dev/sda
before starting the install this previous time. Seems installer didn't
write any partition table. I'm going to restart the install now that
I've booted into the system with a blank partition table on /dev/sda
(I'm thinking maybe the installer was working off partition info read at
boot. But I don't think this would be the cause of my initial failure as
I have initially had a previous partition table on sda I believe and
didn't dd any zeros).

[Bug 1209106] Re: system tray icon is next to launcher

2015-01-24 Thread Nathan Osman
Is there any way at all to create an application indicator from a Qt 5.1
application then? I tried doing this once before a while back and I
remember that there was some sort of problem with event loops.

I can confirm upgrading from the PPA didn't solve the problem :)

2015-01-24 Thread Alberto Salvia Novella
So why is this happening also with the proprietary driver?

And about upgrading using the PPA, I have just done it. If in three
weeks the problem doesn't reproduce, I will report it as gone in git
version.

[Bug 881526]

2015-01-24 Thread Timothy Arceri
The open and closed drivers currently don't play nice together.
Hopefully one day that will change. But to me it looks like you haven't
fully removed fglrx and this is causing you problems.

The Synaptic package manager says there isn't any fglrx package
installed, and following instructions at
http://askubuntu.com/questions/78675/how-do-i-remove-the-fglrx-drivers-
after-ive-installed-them-by-hand says the same.

Having this issue frequently also on trusty. I'm a single-session user,

[Bug 1406615] Re: Composing hides Dropbox icon from tray

2015-01-24 Thread Csipak Attila
Xubuntu 14.04.1 64bit
xfce4-panel 4.11.0-0ubuntu1
Dropbox 3.0.3

Compositing is turned off (since I installed this version of Xubuntu
half a year ago).

Dropbox icon is hidden from the panel since a couple of weeks.
restarting dropbox from terminal fixes it:

$ dropbox stop
$ dropbox start
