[Bug 1071746] Re: Missing information in proc(5)
Upstream maintainer here. Regarding the /proc/PID/stat, you need to upgrade your man-pages. An update to man-pages in May 2014 added documentation for these fields. Likewise VmSwap in /proc/PID/status is already documented in recent man- pages. (See http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man5/proc.5.html ) For VmPin, the documentation indeed was lacking, and I have added: * VmPin: Pinned memory size (since Linux 3.2). These are pages that can't be moved because something needs to directly access physical memory. If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1412730 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. Public bug reported: Hi, there is a problem in DTLS handshake in OpenSSL library in Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64. The affected library version is libssl 1.0.1-4ubuntu5.21. The problem causes, that it is impossible to establish DTLS session with Chrome or Firefox when trying to perform a SIP call via WebRTC. The problem is fixed in OpenSSL upstream by commit https://github.com/openssl/openssl/commit/a20152bdaf7a99b006ff5a0eef081502e0e11553 committed April 4th 2012. 32bit version of Ubuntu 12.04 is not affected by this issue, because it doesn't support HMAC ciphers, which cause the problem. I've checked other distributions (Centos6, Centos7, Ubuntu 14.04 and especially Debian 7 - which should be close to Ubuntu 12.04) and all has this patch applied and thus WebRTC calls work. Please merge this upstream fix to Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64 libssl package. Julia, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem. We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures At a minimum, we need: 1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the problem, 2. The behavior you expected, and 3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible). [Bug 1409714] Re: Connected mouse not recognized but works
TomH, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com /daily-live/current/ . If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report: apport-collect -p xorg 1409714 Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes button for attaching additional debugging information. As well, given the information from the prior release is already available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be helpful. Thank you for your understanding. [Bug 1425510] Re: Default IM configuration causes hangs
Hi, Aron. Thanks for looking into this bug for me. I acknowledge what you're saying that it's someone else's fault, but without more detail about what you actually think is going on, this may be misinterpreted. I personally have no idea what is going on, and can't contribute to resolving this through other projects' bugtrackers without your contribution. What 'kind' of bug is in the applications, that means an im-config change can workaround it? Recently, keyboard input problems, including loss of responsiveness and loss of individual key events, seem to apply to almost all of my applications actually (even incredibly simple ones like Geany and Terminal), so if all of these applications have the same problem, I doubt whether it's an individual application developer at fault. Regarding the Chrome bug, when you say "you have to get GTK2 IM Module installed" that is not a package name, so I can't install it. Are you implying that the fault is in not having any IM Module installed? (I have to read between the lines as your comment was very terse) I already have both ibus and scim installed, (and ibus was selected under Preferences>Language Support>Keyboard Input Method System), so this is not the case on my system. I also can't file an upstream bug to get anyone to package it (either Chrome OR Chromium - where Ubuntu maintainers can control packaging). Do you have one or more package names from Ubuntu repositories that your suggestion might relate to. For reference, those others experiencing a problem, I've found a workaround right now (on Lubuntu) is to entirely disable international input support, by going to Preferences>Language Support>Keyboard Input Method System and selecting 'none', then restarting the system. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1425510 Title: Default IM configuration causes hangs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/im-config/+bug/1425510/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I should have read the blog post you linked to before posting the comment. There are no factual errors in the blog post to my knowledge (I'm no professional cryptographer, just an enthusiast who took a couple formal courses and tinkered a bit), and the argument is compelling. My previous comment actually looks silly now, since I talk of "good" random data that the post disputes. But I stand my ground that using /dev/urandom for serious business like GPG keys is a bad idea. /dev/random providess a better guarantee than /dev/urandom regarding the randomness of data you extract, and many including me are not happy to give up this guarantee. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/706011 Title: gpg --key-gen doesn't have enough entropy and rng-tools install/start fails To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnupg/+bug/706011/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
