[Bug 1425938] [NEW] use of charmhelpers log function raise exception if not under juju environment

2015-02-26 Thread Thierry FAUCK
Public bug reported:

When creating a python script with charmhelpers, the problem is that log()
function calls a juju-log() function which is only integrated in juju.
As such trying to execute
 python -v hooks/install
will raise an exception: OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory

Hi Christopher,

I've already updated to A13 a week ago, but didn't try the Remote

Unfortunately this did not help, as soon as I started the session, the
same happened as before.

The output of the commands is:

[Bug 1425943] [NEW] charm-tools 1.5.1 uses charmhelper functions in /usr/local/lib/python2.7

2015-02-26 Thread Thierry FAUCK
Public bug reported:

When creating a new charm with python template, you get the environment ready
to fetch and use charmhelpers modules.
However these modules are installed in
/usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/charmhelpers which is not in default
search path preventing provided services.py script to run
A bypass is to append the ' /usr/local/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/' to sys.path

[Bug 1425510] Re: Default IM configuration causes hangs

2015-02-26 Thread Nobuto Murata
@Cefn,
I'm curious you have installed ibus-gtk and ibus-gtk3 or not. Because you
installed gtk2 app(e.g. inkscape) on Lubuntu. FWIW, Ubuntu has dependency to
ibus-gtk and ibus-gtk3 by default because it's has gtk2 and gtk3 apps in the
image.

[Bug 1071746] Re: Missing information in proc(5)

2015-02-26 Thread Michael Kerrisk
Upstream maintainer here.

Regarding the /proc/PID/stat, you need to upgrade your man-pages. An
update to man-pages in May 2014 added documentation for these fields.

Likewise VmSwap in /proc/PID/status is already documented in recent man-
pages.

(See http://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man5/proc.5.html )

For VmPin, the documentation indeed was lacking, and I have added:

  * VmPin: Pinned memory size (since Linux 3.2). These
are pages that can't be moved because something needs
to directly access physical memory.

Thanks,

Michael

[Bug 1412730] Re: DELL U2415 monitor detection issues

2015-02-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Michiel Janssens, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't
been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1412730

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1425929] [NEW] Desktop effects corruption

2015-02-26 Thread Marián Bača
Public bug reported:

Hello,
After last upgrade , I have a little problem with desktop corruption. It is not
so bad, it is annoying more likely. It happens when composition type OpenGl is
selected, regardless of version or type of qt rendering. When I select Xrandr
as a composition type, corruption disappears. This bug is most visible, when I
open kickoff.

I was about to propose that, but now I don't need to. ;) It's much more
straight forward than the ideas mentioned in the bug description.

[Bug 1411560] Re: Graphics performance degrades with time in 14.04

2015-02-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Roberto Sosa Cano, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-
support/product/precision-t5500/drivers an update to your computer's
buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A16). If you update to this
following https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change
anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status New.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1411419] Re: video card driver error.

2015-02-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
randysal, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1411419

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1411406] Re: Xorg freeze

2015-02-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Hossein Noroozpour, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better. As per
http://www.asus.com/Notebooks_Ultrabooks/N56JR/HelpDesk_Download/ an
update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (202). If
you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

[Bug 1425916] [NEW] dash is laggy/slow to respond when switching between scopes

2015-02-26 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Public bug reported:

current build number: 122
device name: krillin
channel: ubuntu-touch/devel-proposed
alias: ubuntu-touch/vivid-proposed
last update: 2015-02-25 15:06:29

Dash is slow to respond when switching between scopes with right/left edge
swipes. Rotating the carousels in the news, music or photo scope is also really
slow. Sometimes the scope doesn't even process the gesture.
I tried with USB cable plugged and unplugged it doesn't seem to make a
difference. The top process is 'unity8-dash' and there is nothing else using
lot of CPU. After a moment the device becomes more responsive.

[Bug 1425914] [NEW] DTLS handshake broken - precise x64

2015-02-26 Thread Pavel
Public bug reported:

Hi,

there is a problem in DTLS handshake in OpenSSL library in Ubuntu 12.04
x86_64. The affected library version is libssl 1.0.1-4ubuntu5.21. The
problem causes, that it is impossible to establish DTLS session with
Chrome or Firefox when trying to perform a SIP call via WebRTC.

The problem is fixed in OpenSSL upstream by commit
https://github.com/openssl/openssl/commit/a20152bdaf7a99b006ff5a0eef081502e0e11553
committed April 4th 2012.

32bit version of Ubuntu 12.04 is not affected by this issue, because it
doesn't support HMAC ciphers, which cause the problem.

I've checked other distributions (Centos6, Centos7, Ubuntu 14.04 and
especially Debian 7 - which should be close to Ubuntu 12.04) and all has
this patch applied and thus WebRTC calls work.

Please merge this upstream fix to Ubuntu 12.04 x86_64 libssl package.

Thanks

2015-02-26 Thread ideasman42
Update, worked around the bug:
https://developer.blender.org/T43491#291744

But the bug still exists: just run this in the text editor:

import readline

I'm afraid this needs to be solved by whoever maintains the Blender
package, so the libraries aren't in conflict.

On Arch Linux, for example, there is no problem so its just a matter of
finding what the important difference is which makes Ubuntu load
libedit, when ArchLinux doesnt.

[Bug 1409714] Re: Connected mouse not recognized but works

2015-02-26 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
TomH, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xorg 1409714

Please ensure you have xdiagnose installed, and that you click the Yes
button for attaching additional debugging information.

As well, given the information from the prior release is already
available, testing a release prior to the development one would not be
helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1413521] Re: oem config not shown first boot

2015-02-26 Thread lordievader
I just did an install of Vivid Beta1. The same problem exists. However this
time there is a "Prepare for shipping" in the menu.
Clicking this results in the asking of the password and further nothing.

Opening the Konsole and running "oem-config-prepare" gives as output
that it will run on the next boot. However after a reboot the oem user
is logged in an no prepare for shipping wizard is shown.

[Bug 1425893] Re: Changing modem technologies on krillin is a bad experience

** Description changed:

  Krillin, rtm #18

"Changing modem technologies" refers to that which was implemented in
  bug 1379850.

  This bug has two parts:
  1. UX
- The current spec [1] seemingly allows the user to interact with the UI
while the technologies are changed. This is not possible and was not
implemented. The UI should be blocked while the technology is changed, like it
is on Android [1].
+ The current spec [2] seemingly allows the user to interact with the UI
while the technologies are changed. This is not possible and was not
implemented. The UI should be blocked while the technology is changed, like it

[Bug 1425510] Re: Default IM configuration causes hangs

2015-02-26 Thread Cefn
Hi, Aron. Thanks for looking into this bug for me.

I acknowledge what you're saying that it's someone else's fault, but
without more detail about what you actually think is going on, this may
be misinterpreted. I personally have no idea what is going on, and can't
contribute to resolving this through other projects' bugtrackers without
your contribution. What 'kind' of bug is in the applications, that means
an im-config change can workaround it?

Recently, keyboard input problems, including loss of responsiveness and
loss of individual key events, seem to apply to almost all of my
applications actually (even incredibly simple ones like Geany and
Terminal), so if all of these applications have the same problem, I
doubt whether it's an individual application developer at fault.

Regarding the Chrome bug, when you say "you have to get GTK2 IM Module
installed" that is not a package name, so I can't install it.

Are you implying that the fault is in not having any IM Module
installed? (I have to read between the lines as your comment was very
terse) I already have both ibus and scim installed, (and ibus was
selected under Preferences>Language Support>Keyboard Input Method
System), so this is not the case on my system.

I also can't file an upstream bug to get anyone to package it (either
Chrome OR Chromium - where Ubuntu maintainers can control packaging). Do
you have one or more package names from Ubuntu repositories that your
suggestion might relate to.

For reference, those others experiencing a problem, I've found a
workaround right now (on Lubuntu) is to entirely disable international
input support, by going to Preferences>Language Support>Keyboard Input
Method System and selecting 'none', then restarting the system.

Hi Kathleen,

on this issue, item #2 says:

"If you provide the information yourself (e.g., it is hosted on your own
web site), please provide us with contact information for the auditor
(or other third party)."

So, if we publish at our web site a self-statement and we also provide
the auditor's contact information, could be enough to meet Mozilla's
requirements?

Sebastien Bacher pushed a new patch for unity-settings-daemon, it at :
lp:~seb128/unity-settings-daemon/non-unity-sessions-need-scaling

I tested this patch on a hidpi Lenovo laptop with kittyhawk2-trusty-
amd64-iso-20150209-1.iso , it worked well, the windows was larger during
installation.

[Bug 706011] Re: gpg --key-gen doesn't have enough entropy and rng-tools install/start fails

2015-02-26 Thread J Phani Mahesh
I should have read the blog post you linked to before posting the
comment. There are no factual errors in the blog post to my knowledge
(I'm no professional cryptographer, just an enthusiast who took a couple
formal courses and tinkered a bit), and the argument is compelling.

My previous comment actually looks silly now, since I talk of "good"
random data that the post disputes. But I stand my ground that using
/dev/urandom for serious business like GPG keys is a bad idea.
/dev/random providess a better guarantee than /dev/urandom regarding the
randomness of data you extract, and many including me are not happy to
give up this guarantee.

[Bug 1425611] Re: Some device designations disappear while performing MATE manual partitioning

2015-02-26 Thread Adam Smith
I noticed weirdness on the PowerPC manual partitioning last nightI
changed the use of a partition and when the dialog box was closed the
partition list disappeared and seemed to reappear at a crawl. It hadn't
entirely come back when I moved onto the next page.

[Bug 1425893] [NEW] Changing modem technologies on krillin is a bad experience

2015-02-26 Thread Jonas G. Drange
Public bug reported:

Krillin, rtm #18

"Changing modem technologies" refers to that which was implemented in
bug 1379850.

This bug has two parts:
1. UX
The current spec [1] seemingly allows the user to interact with the UI
while the technologies are changed. This is not possible and was not
implemented. The UI should be blocked while the technology is changed, like it
is on Android [1].

2. Ubuntu System Settings
Ubuntu System Settings should implement the new spec.
