[Bug 1435080] Re: mysql-server upgrade hangs dpkg --reconfigure (if root password is set?)

2015-03-22 Thread David
After 4 hours of removing locks, config files, folders, and using dpkg
-l, I removed all mysql files except mysql-common (it would not remove
config files). Finally, reinstalling libmysql-dev and mysql-common, then
mysql-server - mysql is working again. I just hope I haven't removed any
applications which relied on mysql, I had to reinstall amarok, for
example.

[Bug 1435080] Re: mysql-server upgrade hangs dpkg --reconfigure (if root password is set?)

2015-03-22 Thread Shevek
Issue solved by apt-get purge mysql-server-5.6 mysql-server then
reinstall. System now working again.

Not sure, but issue might have been triggered by typing a password into
the "password change" dialogue during upgrade. If so, that password
might have been saved in apt's configuration/templates, so that it kept
failing to run mysql?

[Bug 1283938] Re: [Samsung NP535U4X-S01TH] Ubuntu 14.04 blank screen after wakeup from sleep

@peter-ludwig I reckon you're right. My Ubuntu machine used to be able
to sleep fine, but I have 16GB of RAM so I lowered my swap file to be
2GB - it can no longer sleep! Makes me sad. But makes sense.

[Bug 1435113] [NEW] Virtualbox host broken on Broadwell CPUs

2015-03-22 Thread Andy Brody
Public bug reported:

Due to VirtualBox #13820 [1], Linux hosts running on Broadwell CPUs are
unable to start VirtualBox VMs.

Launching a VM hangs at 0%, and logs dmesg output like this:

[ 6204.331045] BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at
7f6f95a043e0

This issue was reportedly fixed in version 4.3.22.

Given that this bug makes VirtualBox entirely unusable on affected
machines, this seems like a plausible candidate for an SRU release.

[Bug 1435109] [NEW] Push-client frequently blocking phone suspend

2015-03-22 Thread Ricardo Salveti
Public bug reported:

current build number: 256
device name: krillin
channel: ubuntu-touch/ubuntu-rtm/14.09-proposed
last update: 2015-03-22 22:01:56

version ubuntu: 20150312
version device: 20150310-3201c0a

While debugging the suspend process with my krillin, I noticed that
sometimes ubuntu-push-client holds a powerd sysstate for too long
(minutes), blocking the suspend process entirely.

Follows the log I got from powerd:

It took ubuntu-push-client 169 seconds to release the sysstate from
powerd, and that probably only happened after powerd triggered the alarm
that was scheduled by ubuntu-push-client.

This seems to be a similar problem to the one described here:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1829744

With recent Ubuntu versions, though, gnome-settings-daemon is not there
anymore. I tried to kill unity-settings-daemon as a workaround, but it
doesn't work.

I followed the instructions here:

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Hotkeys/Troubleshooting

and I can correctly see the keypresses be received correctly both with
xev and with evtest

with the latter, I can see that the interesting hotkeys codes:

Event: time 1427077143.513820, -- SYN_REPORT
Event: time 1427077143.616493, type 4 (EV_MSC), code 4 (MSC_SCAN), value ae
Event: time 1427077143.616493, type 1 (EV_KEY), code 114 (KEY_VOLUMEDOWN),
value 0
Event: time 1427077143.616493, -- SYN_REPORT
Event: time 1427077144.292461, type 4 (EV_MSC), code 4 (MSC_SCAN), value b0
Event: time 1427077144.292461, type 1 (EV_KEY), code 115 (KEY_VOLUMEUP), value 1

And the events can be seen even when the volume hotkeys are unresponsive
(the volume is not updated).

This seems to happen more often (or at least it's more noticeable to me)
when watching something in fullscreen.

Keypresses usually aren't lost, but are simply delayed and buffered, and
thus if I press the button 5/10 times, after half a minute of so, all
the keypresses will trigger the corresponding action all together

[Bug 1420387] Re: Phone does not deep suspend after incoming call

2015-03-22 Thread Ricardo Salveti
Your log is actually fine from powerd's perspective (powerd is indeed trying to
suspend and releasing everything it can), but in your case it seems the usb
device is blocking suspend:
Feb 19 16:01:04 ubuntu-phablet kernel: [ 5926.373385] usb 1-1: abort suspend
Feb 19 16:01:04 ubuntu-phablet kernel: [ 5926.373446] dpm_run_callback():
usb_dev_suspend+0x0/0x20 returns -16
Feb 19 16:01:04 ubuntu-phablet kernel: [ 5926.373477] PM: Device 1-1 failed to
suspend async: error -16

The interesting piece is that you disconnected the usb cable right in
the beginning of the log file. IIRC mako talks with the modem via USB,
which might explain why it's failing to suspend.

The problem is that this is probably a bug in mako's kernel, as our
userspace is indeed behaving as expected (and probably why we can't
reproduce this bug with krillin).

** Summary changed:

- Phone does not deep suspend after incoming call
+ [mako] phone does not deep suspend after incoming call

[Bug 1066156] Re: update-grub generates "insmod part_gpt" four times

2015-03-22 Thread Rarylson Freitas
At first, the GRUB `insmod` command is idempotent. It is, loading many
times the same module is not a great problem. Moreover, fixing this bug
could increase complexity, and "complexity often leads to bugs".

However, some people may thing a smaller generated GRUB config file
easier to debug and understand.

I do not have opinion about the better approach (keep it this way or
fixes it). But if someone is looking for a fix or a workaround, one is
found at this bug report in RedHat Bugzilla:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1141751.

to be this:

...fixed the problem?

[Bug 1435093] Re: terminal transparency numix

2015-03-22 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1435093/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]
