I don't care so much about Nouveau as I do the Nvidia official drivers. I never had many problems if at all stability-wise with Nouveau, but I like the official Nvidia drivers better regardless because they are built specifically for and by Nvidia for Nvidia products, allowing a more reliable, consistent graphics experience and snappier speeds. [Bug 1437700] [NEW] Active file selection is not removed on a new search result
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1) Search for a file so that exactly one file is found 2) Select the file 3) Copy it (Ctrl+C) and paste it to another folder 4) Search for a new file so that exactly one file is found, but don't clear the file selection 5) Observe, that despite a new result, the file selection is still active Now, confusing things will follow: 6) Copy the file as it's already selected and paste it the to same folder as the previous file 7) Observe, that an overwrite confirmation dialog opens. The file selection was pointing to the previous file despite the fact that the new file was highlighted during copy. What should happen: - The file selection/highlight should be removed on a new search result so that user has to explicitly select the new file. [Bug 1436427] Re: Turning off WiFi doesn't set a route after the modem connects data
The attached script is a simple stress test that's run on the phone. It toggles WiFi on, sleeps for 10 seconds, then toggles WiFi off and checks for an empty routing table, and then sleeps for another 10 seconds. I currently has a hard-coded loop count. The script enables/disables WiFi by toggling NM's 'WirelessEnabled' property. To work properly, it needs to be run with a previously connect WiFi access point available. It also assumes that a valid SIM card is inserted in slot 1 of a krillin, as it checks the routing table for a 'ccmni0' device when WiFi gets disabled. [Bug 1436427] Re: Turning off WiFi doesn't set a route after the modem connects data
@Michael Thanks for the feedback. I'd like keep this bug specifically for the problem that occurs when WiFi is toggled off ( as per the bug description and summary ). The problem when going out of range of the access point may be something completely different, and is being addressed in bug #1410113. Also, problems with the location service while related, should be considered separate too. Regarding the toggle WiFi problem, I created a stress test to try and reproduce the problem, while I will have reviewed on Monday, to ensure that I didn't get anything wrong. The WiFi toggle switch, contrary to my original understanding, doesn't toggle the urfkill switch directly, instead, it toggles the value of the global NetworkManager property 'WirelessEnabled'. NM in turn will enable/disable WiFi via urfkill, which in turn on krillin uses hybris to load/unload the WiFi driver. I believe the problem we hit when WiFi is disabled, and the routing table is empty, is caused by a race between rild and NetworkManager, however until I can reproduce, it's just that... a theory. As mentioned, I was able to reproduce this once two days ago, but haven't managed to reproduce it since. I've run 500 iterations of enable/disable WiFi using my stress test, and haven't yet hit the issue. This is why I reduced the Importance of *this* scenario to High. The out-of-range problem will now be my priority. Finally, one other bug that may compound this problem is a long-standing issue with the network indicator which shows extreme latency sometimes displaying the correct network connection to the user. So even though the indicator may show that you have a mobile data connection, it may not actually be showing the true state of things. See bug #1339792 for more details. There's a concerted effort to fix issues with the indicator; ubuntu silo-6 contains a new version which hopefully will improve this situation. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1436427 Title: Turning off WiFi doesn't set a route after the modem connects data To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1436427/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the output of the following terminal command: sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette . Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't have to create a new bug report. This happens once or twice a day, although on occasion it doesn't occur for several days. It has occurred at least once a week since I installed Ubuntu 14.04.1. It seems to be more of a problem since moving to 14.04.2 - I did perform installation of the Utopic Kernel, X, and MesaGL packages, but this is only perception. At the same time I switched from Unity to Cinnamon (Jeremy Clarkson isn't the only dinosaur roaming the world) - but I have confirmed that just running Unity desktops is vunerable. The display can be restored by sudo service lightdm restart - run from an ssh login from another system. Steps to consistently reproduce the problem is simply to perform abusive user stress testing: switching from one user to another rapidly: as soon as the display switches go back to the other. Usually I can get a black screen with this method in under a minute with Unity desktops. I have the same issue with another system (Dell Vostro 3550) reported in Bug #1437557 - submitting a new defect since this is different hardware and even though the defects look the same there might be differences underneath the hood causing the problem. 14.04.2 Trusty 3.16.0-33-generic. I'll edit this report shortly with additional system info. [Bug 1366661] Re: Xorg freeze
Luiz, testing 12.04.5 is equivalent to testing Trusty, as they share the same kernel and xorg stack. Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. Thanks in advance! [Bug 1437722] [NEW] ubuntu MATE 15.04: mate-settings-daemon problem with systemd
Public bug reported: With systemd, the mate-settings-daemon starts 10 minutes later after the desktop login. It means it works but I have to wait 10 minutes after the login. With systemd (within 10 minutes): sudo systemctl status org.mate.settingsd Output: org.mate.settingsd.service Loaded: not-found (Reason: No such file or directory) Active: inactive (dead) sudo systemctl status org.mate.service Output: ● org.mate.service Loaded: not-found (Reason: No such file or directory) Active: inactive (dead) mate-settings-daemon Output: ** (mate-settings-daemon:3091): WARNING **: Failed to acquire org.mate.SettingsDaemon ** (mate-settings-daemon:3091): WARNING **: Could not acquire name Screenshot: http://forum.hyperion- entertainment.biz/download/file.php?id=1625mode=view Another user has a similar problem with audio: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2264322page=14 ** Affects: mate-settings-daemon (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Package changed: xserver-xorg-video-ati (Ubuntu) = mate-settings- daemon (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1437722 Title: ubuntu MATE 15.04: mate-settings-daemon problem with systemd To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mate-settings-daemon/+bug/1437722/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1425304] Re: Plymouth does not display correctly
When I run the 3.16 kernel in 14.04.2, both monitors on my dual monitor setup shut down with loss of signal until the system comes to the Unity login screen. When I run either 3.13 or 3.14 kernels there is no problem. I have found that commenting out lines in the /etc/grub.d/10_lupin file and setting vt_handoff=1 to vt_handoff=0 in the /etc/grub.d/10_linux file will allow the plymouth screen to display properly on a 3.16 kernel. Whatever the 3.16 kernels do differently seems to prevent the plymouth screen from displaying on boot unless vt_handoff is disabled in a file (two files if the user is running Ubuntu in a Wubi install). The relevant lines in the /etc/grub.d/10_lupin file to disable by commenting them out are as follows: #for word in $GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT; do # if [ $word = splash ]; then #GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=$GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT \$vt_handoff # fi #done After that, plymouth displays correctly every bootup. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1425304 Title: Plymouth does not display correctly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-meta-lts-utopic/+bug/1425304/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
