Public bug reported: Currently powerd-cli gets killed in the cleanup action of ssh-setup/adb. For some tests (power meter related) the daemon should be running after finishing so that the screen doesn't turn off. [Bug 872824] Re: Network-manager locks up when adding strongSwan VPN connection
I'm running Precise. The 'Pass lo as faked tundev to NM' patch results in Network Manager setting a 172.16.X.X IP on lo on VPN connect. Since this replaces 127.0.0.1, other software breaks. Then, on VPN disconnection, Network Manager takes lo down. This can be trivially confirmed by running ifconfig lo before doing anything, after connecting a VPN, and again after disconnecting the VPN. Can someone on Trusty or higher test this? Things work great if I change it to use dummy0, but that requires configuring a dummy0 interface, so that's not a usable solution for the package. [Bug 1044559] Re: apt-get remove maas --purge while maas is running prevents full database purge
I just saw this one again. I found a relevant discussion here: https://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/dbconfig-common- devel/2006-September/000627.html Here's the relevant quote from Sean Finney (the maintainer of dbconfig- common): i can reproduce your problem... looking in my postgres logs i see: ERROR: database zabbix is being accessed by other users ERROR: role zabbix cannot be dropped because some objects depend on it i think this is because the zabbix server has the datbase open while the removal code is running in the prerm script. if you manually stop the zabbix server before purging i think you'll see what i'm talking about. as for how to workaround this... you could manually stop the server before calling dbc_go when $1 is set to remove, or you could call the dbconfig hooks after the #DEBHELPER# macro. since this could be a general problem with other pgsql+daemon packages, i'd appreciate suggestions for how to mention this in documentation, assuming this solves your problem :) Reply from Michael Ablassmeier: yes, moving the stanza in prerm above the dbconfig-common call works nicely and the package successfully purges its database setup. [Bug 1430767] Re: Widgets that are disabled do not render themselves in the faded state
In my pure Qt application i added these lines of code qDebug() qapp.style(); qDebug() qapp.palette().color(QPalette::Normal, QPalette::ButtonText) qapp.palette().color(QPalette::Disabled, QPalette::ButtonText); qapp.setPalette(qapp.style()-standardPalette()); qDebug() qapp.palette().color(QPalette::Normal, QPalette::ButtonText) qapp.palette().color(QPalette::Disabled, QPalette::ButtonText); After which the colors are messed up but disabled widgets are distinguisable. the terminal output of the above is: Breeze::Style(0x8edd80, name = breeze) QColor(ARGB 1, 0.192157, 0.211765, 0.231373) QColor(ARGB 1, 0.192157, 0.211765, 0.231373) QColor(ARGB 1, 0, 0, 0) QColor(ARGB 1, 0.415686, 0.407843, 0.392157) As can be seen, in the first case, Normal and disabled have the same color. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1430767 Title: Widgets that are disabled do not render themselves in the faded state To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/breeze-qt4/+bug/1430767/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1425376] Re: Ubuntu Core provides no console login prompt if network is unavailable
As for what creates the Before=network.target for networking.service (aka /etc/init.d/networking): this is defined in /etc/insserv.conf. We should definitely not be blocking network.target indefinitely on boot waiting for the results of /etc/init.d/networking. Agreed. Conceptually we should keep the Before= so that on shutdown networking.service gets stopped after every service which provides something on the network (and thus can shut down cleanly), but on boot it's fine to asynchronously do the ifup in the background. However, I cannot actually reproduce this on the current devel-proposed image? I booted with -net nic, model=virtio -net none to simulate an unconnected ethernet port, and the only hanging job that I get is ifup@eth0.service (expectedly). network.target and getty are up, but networking.service didn't even run. But it turns out this is due to bug 1440978, I'll address this first. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1425376 Title: Ubuntu Core provides no console login prompt if network is unavailable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snappy-ubuntu/+bug/1425376/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

With bug 1440978 fixed locally I can now reproduce this. ifup@eth0.service indeed takes some 3 minutes to time out, then the getty finally appears. So let's run the ifup@ in the background; at least in Ubuntu we didn't block on these under upstart either, and as I wrote before the main reason for the Before=network.target is to ensure a proper shutdown order. ** Changed in: ifupdown (Ubuntu) Assignee: Martin Pitt (pitti) = Steve Langasek (vorlon) ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: New = In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1425376 Title: Ubuntu Core provides no console login prompt if network is unavailable To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snappy-ubuntu/+bug/1425376/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
