[Bug 1044559] Re: apt-get remove maas --purge while maas is running prevents full database purge

2015-04-07 Thread Mike Pontillo
I attempted to fix this, but haven't gotten anywhere. I am seeing the
following errors:

Removing maas-region-controller (1.8.0~beta2+bzr3777-0ubuntu1) ...
 * Stopping web server apache2
 *
dbconfig-common: dumping pgsql database maasdb to
/var/tmp/maas-region-controller.maasdb.2015-04-06-23.29.pgsql.AhZK0m.
dbconfig-common: dropping pgsql database maasdb.
dropping database maasdb: does not exist.
dbconfig-common: revoking privileges for user maas on maasdb.
revoking access to database maasdb from maas@localhost: failed.

However, I found a workaround:

$ sudo -u postgres dropdb maasdb

You can verify that the maasdb database has been dropped by executing:

$ sudo -u postgres psql

I tried adding sudo -u postgres dropdb maasdb to the postrm packaging
script for maas-region-controller, but that didn't make a difference.

[Bug 1286779] Re: Please migrate libjetty-extra-java to tomcat7

2015-04-07 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Thanks for the contribution, Hans! The debdiff was good as is. Indeed it
seems Tomcat 7 is the most supported Tomcat version in 14.04 LTS, so it
makes sense to be compatible with it. With the updated package for
example the test case is again functional.

This bug will be updated when the updated package is ready for testing
in -proposed pocket. Until then, it's visible at the Unapproved queue at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/trusty/+queue?queue_state=1queue_text=

Thanks again!

[Bug 1441023] [NEW] Allow to preserve powerd-cli on cleanup (ssh virt-server)

2015-04-07 Thread Federico Gimenez
Public bug reported:

Currently powerd-cli gets killed in the cleanup action of ssh-setup/adb.
For some tests (power meter related) the daemon should be running after
finishing so that the screen doesn't turn off.

Given the great flexibility of adt-run an alternative script which
doesn't pkill powerd-cli on cleanup can be used, but it would be very
useful if we can specify somehow that powerd-cli should be preserved
without having to fork the default adb script.

Thanks!

[Bug 1441008] [NEW] avahi-daemon doesn't stay disabled when .local is detected

2015-04-07 Thread Sami Haahtinen
Public bug reported:

When avahi daemon detects .local unicast domain, the daemon is disabled.
When a user tries to resolve a domain name through nss, the daemon
starts up.

The root cause is most likely in systemd that starts the daemon when an
application tries to access the socket through the systemd managed
socket file.

This behavior wasn't observed in 14.10 or earlier releases, thus the
assumption towards systemd socket activation.

ProblemType: Bug

[Bug 872824] Re: Network-manager locks up when adding strongSwan VPN connection

2015-04-07 Thread Richard Laager
I'm running Precise. The 'Pass lo as faked tundev to NM' patch results
in Network Manager setting a 172.16.X.X IP on lo on VPN connect. Since
this replaces 127.0.0.1, other software breaks. Then, on VPN
disconnection, Network Manager takes lo down.

This can be trivially confirmed by running ifconfig lo before doing
anything, after connecting a VPN, and again after disconnecting the VPN.
Can someone on Trusty or higher test this?

Things work great if I change it to use dummy0, but that requires
configuring a dummy0 interface, so that's not a usable solution for the
package. Has anyone looked into just fixing Network Manager to not
require an interface?

[Bug 1012629] Re: grub-installer ignores bootdev setting in preseed file

2015-04-07 Thread Sai Kiran
I still find issues installing grub via 'd-i grub/installer' if there
are more than one disk. Or it could be the other issue Dave Chiluk
referred to in the post #23.

Tried this on Precise (12.04.4, 12.04.5) and Trusty with errors.

d-i debconf/priority string critical
d-i partman/early_command string debconf-set partman-auto/disk /dev/sdb
# My partition recipe
d-i grub-installer/only_debian boolean false
d-i grub-installer/with_other_os boolean false
d-i grub-installer/bootdev /dev/sdb

I see the update grub run but ubuntu never boots after the install.

I could only workaround these issues via a late_command to run the grub-
install from the target itself via chroot.

[Bug 1430767] Re: Widgets that are disabled do not render themselves in the faded state

2015-04-07 Thread Kishore
Strangely, even this makes it work as expected

qDebug()  qapp.style();
qDebug()  qapp.palette().color(QPalette::Normal, QPalette::ButtonText)
qapp.palette().color(QPalette::Disabled, QPalette::ButtonText);
QPalette palette(qapp.palette().color(QPalette::Button));
qapp.setPalette(palette);
qDebug()  qapp.palette().color(QPalette::Normal, QPalette::ButtonText)
qapp.palette().color(QPalette::Disabled, QPalette::ButtonText);

But the output at the terminal is:

Breeze::Style(0x865d40, name = breeze)
QColor(ARGB 1, 0.192157, 0.211765, 0.231373) QColor(ARGB 1, 0.192157, 0.211765,
0.231373)
QColor(ARGB 1, 0, 0, 0) QColor(ARGB 1, 0.46862, 0.470573, 0.472541)

Im not sure where the real problem. I can only imagine that wherever
pure Qt apps read the palette information is not properly setup.

[Bug 1044559] Re: apt-get remove maas --purge while maas is running prevents full database purge

2015-04-07 Thread Mike Pontillo
I just saw this one again. I found a relevant discussion here:

https://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/dbconfig-common-
devel/2006-September/000627.html

Here's the relevant quote from Sean Finney (the maintainer of dbconfig-
common):

i can reproduce your problem... looking in my postgres logs i see:

ERROR: database zabbix is being accessed by other users
ERROR: role zabbix cannot be dropped because some objects depend on
it

i think this is because the zabbix server has the datbase open while the
removal code is running in the prerm script. if you manually stop the
zabbix server before purging i think you'll see what i'm talking about.

as for how to workaround this... you could manually stop the server
before calling dbc_go when $1 is set to remove, or you could call the
dbconfig hooks after the #DEBHELPER# macro.

since this could be a general problem with other pgsql+daemon packages,
i'd appreciate suggestions for how to mention this in documentation,
assuming this solves your problem :)

Reply from Michael Ablassmeier:

yes, moving the stanza in prerm above the dbconfig-common call works
nicely and the package successfully purges its database setup. Thanks
for your time! (having a short note somewhere in the Docs might be
helpful since i've discovered the same problem for the mysql part of the
package, even tho mysql doesnt care about it that much)

[Bug 1430767] Re: Widgets that are disabled do not render themselves in the faded state

2015-04-07 Thread Kishore
In my pure Qt application i added these lines of code
qDebug()  qapp.style();
qDebug()  qapp.palette().color(QPalette::Normal, QPalette::ButtonText)
qapp.palette().color(QPalette::Disabled, QPalette::ButtonText);
qapp.setPalette(qapp.style()-standardPalette());
qDebug()  qapp.palette().color(QPalette::Normal, QPalette::ButtonText)
qapp.palette().color(QPalette::Disabled, QPalette::ButtonText);

 After which the colors are messed up but disabled widgets are
distinguisable. the terminal output of the above is:

Breeze::Style(0x8edd80, name = breeze)
QColor(ARGB 1, 0.192157, 0.211765, 0.231373) QColor(ARGB 1, 0.192157, 0.211765,
0.231373)
QColor(ARGB 1, 0, 0, 0) QColor(ARGB 1, 0.415686, 0.407843, 0.392157)

As can be seen, in the first case, Normal and disabled have the same
color.

 Title:
   Touchpad detected as mouse on Asus ux303ln laptop

 Status in linux package in Ubuntu:
   Fix Released
 Status in linux package in Arch Linux:

 Bug description:
   Hi! I'm following the bug reporting documentation here:

 https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingTouchpadDetection#In_case_Touchpad_features_like_scrolling.2C_tapping.2C_etc._do_not_work_at_all.

   The touchpad on my new Asus ux303ln laptop is detected as a mouse, so
   I can't access touchpad features such as two-finger scrolling.

   The laptop was very recently released and I couldn't find any
   outstanding firmware updates for it through Asus's Windows-based
   tools.

   % lsb_release -rd
   Description:  Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS
   Release:  14.04

   Per the instructions on the wiki, I'm attaching output from
   /proc/bus/input/devices,` xinput --list`, and /var/log/Xorg.0.log.

   This machine also has a touchscreen, which I'm fairly certain is the
   maXtouch digitizer visible in the logs. I haven't yet restarted in
   Windows to see if it says anything useful about the touchpad, but I
   can do so if that's helpful. This is a fresh install of 14.04 and I
   haven't done much customization of it apart from installing some
   applications and changing the default resolution.

   The only relevant bit I noticed in /var/log/dmesg is this:

[Bug 1440992] [NEW] transmisson menu wording error in Xubuntu session

2015-04-07 Thread Hairong Zhu
Public bug reported:

See the attachment. The first `open` opens torrent from local file, the
second opens torrent from URL but they are both displayed as `open`. The
problem exists in transmission-gtk 2.82 installed from official Ubuntu
repo and 2.84 installed from transmission ppa. I thought it was
something with transmission at first. But I don't have this problem when
I log into awesome WM instead of Xubuntu session. In awesome sesstion,
the second `open` is displayed as `open with URL...`.

Sorry I don't know the exact package that causes this bug.

[Bug 1425376] Re: Ubuntu Core provides no console login prompt if network is unavailable

2015-04-07 Thread Martin Pitt
As for what creates the Before=network.target for networking.service
(aka /etc/init.d/networking): this is defined in /etc/insserv.conf.

 We should definitely not be blocking network.target indefinitely on
boot waiting for the results of /etc/init.d/networking.

Agreed. Conceptually we should keep the Before= so that on shutdown
networking.service gets stopped after every service which provides
something on the network (and thus can shut down cleanly), but on boot
it's fine to asynchronously do the ifup in the background.

However, I cannot actually reproduce this on the current devel-proposed
image? I booted with -net nic,model=virtio -net none to simulate an
unconnected ethernet port, and the only hanging job that I get is
ifup@eth0.service (expectedly). network.target and getty are up, but
networking.service didn't even run. But it turns out this is due to bug
1440978, I'll address this first.

[Bug 1425376] Re: Ubuntu Core provides no console login prompt if network is unavailable

2015-04-07 Thread Martin Pitt
With bug 1440978 fixed locally I can now reproduce this.
ifup@eth0.service indeed takes some 3 minutes to time out, then the
getty finally appears. So let's run the ifup@ in the background; at
least in Ubuntu we didn't block on these under upstart either, and as I
wrote before the main reason for the Before=network.target is to ensure
a proper shutdown order.
