Hp Laptop. Latest Ubuntu version update.

I close lid to laptop for it to sleep and still have power to USB. I
open lid expecting to use computer again. It comes back on ready to go
except that the mouse driver won't load, nor for the touchpad. I have to
press and hold the power button to reboot computer.

would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a

[Bug 1449560] [NEW] Cannot login with Nvidia Optimus hardware installed(Ubuntu 15.04)

2015-04-28 Thread Shkil
Public bug reported:

I have Nvidia Optimus GT415M hardware on my laptop.

I've upgraded my Ubuntu 14.10 where everything was working fine with
Nvidia Optimus to Ubuntu 15.04 and now I cannot login. After I type the
password login screen comes back again.

I did complete reinstall of NVidia packages and installed new nvidia-346
package from Ubuntu repo.

Looking at Xorg.0.log I see this message:
[ 120.353] (EE) intel(G1): [drm] failed to set drm interface version:
Permission denied [13].
[ 120.353] (II) intel(G1): [drm] Contents of

And I have found thread regarding this problem on
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/816599/prime-switching-to-
nvidia-creates-black-screen/. So looks like hardware similar to mine
need a new version of xserver-xorg-video-intel.

Could you please help with this.

Hi, thank you very much.

Yes, I would agree. The Baybayin script is alphasyllabry so it is
always CV-CV, then other vowels are represented by use of a diacritical
mark resulting to just 18 base glyphs only.

Initially I did not include VoidSymbols but I noticed that if it is
left empty, the system checks the next upper keyboard in the list and
producing the character there first.

1: Latin = Key1234 produces A
2: Baybayin = Key1234 is empty

If pressing Key1234 in Baybayin will produce the letter A from the
Latin layout. I opted instead to hardcode VoidSymbols to avoid it.
From what I understand, it was intentional?

Anyway, I guess that's for another thread / ticket. Thank you again!

[Bug 1449813] [NEW] installer does not use empty space on sda

2015-04-28 Thread mherweg
Public bug reported:

the PC has one disk.
3 partitions are used for Windows7
behind those there is 40GB unpartitioned space.
the installer does not offer to resize one of the NTFS partitions
or offers to install into th unpartitioned area.
the only coices are: delete all partitions or manual choice.
I did the manual choice, installed into sda4.

It installs fine but without a grub menu - no way to start windows.
after installation I had to do:

grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
grub-install

(i will try to add the log later)

[Bug 1449608] [NEW] Cannot add new epubs to a library

2015-04-28 Thread Raúl Soriano
Public bug reported:

While trying to add a new epub to my collection an error window appears.
Clicking on show details button the following information is provided:

Googling this, the same error was reported in archlinux
(https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/44134), but apparently was fixed in a

[Bug 1315221] Re: 8086:08b1 (rev 6b) [Dell XPS 13 9333] iwlwifi regularly loses connection/becomes unusable on Intel 7260

2015-04-28 Thread gianluca
Hello,

I solved the problem. Actually, I do not know how so, in order to be
useful to someone, I share the operations made:

- I updated the BIOS of my Dell XPS 13 from A05 to A06 as suggested in
#1426259. The following weeks I then verified that it worked most of
the times. I traveled and, let me say that it worked with 8 different
networks on 10;

- For another reason (noise from the audio system), Dell changed my
motherboard.

Since then, the wifi works regularly but the BIOS is the previous one,
A05.

Best,
g.

[Bug 1449632] [NEW] fatrace autopkgtests assume access to certain CPU registers

2015-04-28 Thread Francis Ginther
Public bug reported:

While testing a newer implementation of the ubuntu proposed-migration
test infrastructure, we discovered that the fatrace autopkgtest is
depending on CPU registers that may not exist on the testbed. The
existing infrastructure emulates an Intel core2duo, but the cpu
architecture on the new infrastructure is a Xeon E312xx. The Xeon does
not have the IDA (Intel Dynamic Acceleration) support which appears to
be what supplies MSR 0xe8.

The bug I am reporting is that the test should account for the
possibility that the hardware support is not present and do something
other then generate an error (possibly a skipped test).

'ida' support can be grepped from 'cat /proc/cpuinfo'.

[Bug 1449631] [NEW] firewall-config does not run as root after authentication

2015-04-28 Thread aikidouke
Public bug reported:

Launching firewall-config from dash asks user to authenticate and then
launches normally, however, the process still runs as regular user and
not as root. Changes are unable to be made from Options - change
default zone of connections. The menu lists no connections. In the
default zone, connections can be seen as sources. See Screenshot 1.

Running sudo firewall-config from terminal does allow changes from
Options - change default zone of connections. The menu does list
connections. See Screenshot 2.

Running ps -ef | grep firewall from terminal shows that the process,
when run from dash and authenticated still runs as regular user. When
run as sudo firewall-config the process does run as root. See Screenshot
3.

Package is firewall-applet.

I do not know if this is a security issue or if there are further issues
when running from dash.

This is not an LXDE bug. Themes must support the background for panels,

[Bug 1430694] Re: Update Facebook permissions to 2.0 API

2015-04-28 Thread Alberto Mardegan
** Description changed:

The 1.0 API is being deprecated on April 30, 2015.
+
+ [Impact] Depending on how facebook decides to handle the deprecation,
+ there's the possibility that creating facebook accounts from Ubuntu
+ Online Accounts will just stop working, if our OAuth request (which uses
+ deprecated parameters) gets declined.
+
+ [Test case] Until the deprecation actually takes place, we won't be able to
reproduce the bug. According to the Facebook official documentation, the v1.0
API will stop working on April 30th, 2015:
+
+ [Regression potential] Very low: the new Facebook v2.0 API is already
+ active, and we've been using it in Vivid without issues. A quick smoke
+ test (just create a Facebook account from the System Settings - Online
+ Accounts pane) is anyway advised, to be absolutely sure.

[Bug 1447282] Re: Does not use encrypted swap when using GPT partitioning + encrypted home directory (ecryptfs)

Martin,

I just built ecryptfs-utils with your updated patch, and it seem solid,
no issues found. FYI, I tested in OEM mode where the customer chooses
encrypted home directory during the first-run-user-config, as that's the
scenario that's most important for System76.

Thanks!

[Bug 1449628] [NEW] X-Ubuntu-Splash-Color=#ffffff yields #f5f5f5

2015-04-28 Thread Michael Terry

I tried using a white-background app icon with a white-background splash
color, but they didn't render the same. I took a screenshot and

[Bug 1424491] Re: apt-get fails to install fglrx or fglrx-updates in 14.04.2 and 12.04.5

2015-04-28 Thread Forage
It would be more helpful to test and post experiences about the packages in the
proposed repository than to ask about ETA's or to tell people to hurry up.
It's in the proposed repositories for a reason. This problem already got
introduced, probably due to the lack of sufficient testing. The proposed
packages are there for real word testing to help prevent other (new) issues
from occurring that might affect even more people or result in bigger problems.
The more confirmations are provided the faster it can be released for everyone.

Xubuntu is correct. It does not happen when I start and log in the first

[Bug 1449489] Re: could not calculate the upgrade (utopic to vivid)

2015-04-28 Thread Brian Murray
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1069133 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1069133

Reviewing the files from your upgrade attempt you seem to have enabled a
PPA that provides Xorg packages. This will prevent the upgrade as that
PPA contains different versions of packages essential to Ubuntu. The
page, https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa, contains details
on to how to revert to the official Xorg packages for the xorg-edgers
PPA. Instructions for reverting to official Xorg packages should be
similar for the PPA that you have enabled.

Again, best guess is a space issue on the phone.

[Bug 1449446] Re: adt-virt-ssh -d breaks satisfying adt-satdep.deb dependencies

2015-04-28 Thread Vincent Ladeuil
I can't reproduce this anymore :-/

I did re-flash the phone and followed the same process to configure a
silo, add -d to both adt-run and adt-virt-ssh, but no luck.

My best guess at this point is that it may have been caused by a space
issue on the phone...

I'll leave the bug incomplete so it'll die naturally if I can't
reproduce in the future.

2015-04-28 Thread Brian Murray
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will
automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal:

  apport-collect 1449541

When reporting bugs in the future please use apport by using 'ubuntu-
bug' and the name of the package affected. You can learn more about this
functionality at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.
