[Bug 1425370] Re: "ubuntu-device-flash core" images can't boot with UEFI
I just tried to boot ubuntu-15.04-snappy-amd64-generic.img on a MinnowboardMax and ran into this bug. What makes it even harder to understand is that the disk geometry and everything is in place. All that seems to be missing is the grubx64.efi bits. I tried copying them over from a 15.04 server install, but had no luck. If there is no plan to support x86_64 embedded systems (which most come without legacy BIOS), then please at least document a workaround how an image can be modified or rebuilt to gain EFI support. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1425370 Title: "ubuntu-device-flash core" images can't boot with UEFI To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/snappy-ubuntu/+bug/1425370/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

This bug affected the installation before adding the proposed repository. The version of usb-creator-gtk from 'proposed' fails to install the bootloader. The version that comes with 14.04.2 LTS could install the bootloader but suffers from this bug (1325801). I tried again after wiping the drive separately (new partition table and new FAT32 partition), unmount, un-plug and re-plug the pendrive for usb- creator-gtk to work, but it failed again. I started with the installed system running via USB 3, which works with Unetbootin and mkusb. I moved the SSD to the internal bay, and tried again, but I still had the same problem. Maybe this is a problem with the authentication method? Or a problem with chroot (if that is used)? Anyway, I tried to boot from the pendrive, which seems to have 'all the files' but not the bootloader. But it does not work, I get a flashing cursor at the top left corner of the screen. Finally I tried to create a pendrive without persistence. But usb- creator-gtk still fails when trying to install the bootloader. I do not feel authorized to change any tag. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1325801 Title: failed to boot from USB disk with error: gfxboot.c32: not a COM32R Image boot: To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-cdimage/+bug/1325801/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1450177] Re: /usr/lib/udisks2/udisksd --no-debug burns 8% constantly
I suppose this is not actually udisks' fault, but something is talking to it all the time. Let's see: Can you please run sudo /usr/lib/udisks2/udisksd --replace for a few seconds? If that keeps being busy all time time, please copy&paste the output of that (supposedly it's a repeating pattern, so it's enough to paste part of it). If that's quiet, please get a monitor log of the system D-Bus instead, as described on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingDBus . Also leave that running for a few seconds (direct its output to a file preferably) and then attach the log. [Bug 1441423] Re: printers not listed
after stopping cups, i rm printers.conf and deleted the network printers entry from printers.conf.O restarted cups using cups webgui, manually added the network printers with "Share" field checked. all the printers as seen in cups webgui now appears in ubuntu print dialogs and in system-config-printer. 1 something to do with the Share field? 2 i've manually changed the Share from No to Yes in printers.conf (after stopping cups), when cups is restarted after the edit, the Share is magically forced back to No, maybe Spock did it. 3 the reason am trying to un-share the network printer is that with share on, the same network printer is shown multiple times by the wonderful network discovery. (by the source printer and from all the pc that shared it!) 4 is there some way to remove/detach a network printer in cups webgui? if i remove a printer in cups webgui, it redirects to the source printer webgui and if you have enough rights, the source printer is deleted! i just want to remove/detach the network printer from my pc, not remove the printer totally from the network. 5 redirects after modifying printers does not work, results in blank screen. is this cups or firefox problem? eg. http://localhost:631/admin/?OP=redirect&URL=/printers/llama 6 now that i can see all the printers, i still can't print to the network printers, it's indicating "Filter failure" when printing a pdf file to an epson lx-310 dot matrix. it was working before upgrading ubuntu/cups. saw Alfred comment, so am not the only one with this problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1441423 Title: printers not listed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/system-config-printer/+bug/1441423/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1219337] Re: Users can change the clock without authenticating, allowing them to locally exploit sudo.
Tyler, it's great that this bug will be fixed. However, I have some concerns about the mitigations factors. 1) Timestamp: Easily found in the auth.log, and easily bypassed due to an unlocked clock. 2) TTY: The tty of the first gnome-terminal running is (as far as I can tell) /dev/pts/0. That's predictable, so if the auth.log contains a sudo session on /dev/pty/0, it's trivial to re-create the tty. 3) inode: Does this mean Session ID? If so, I'm worried. If not, we have a bigger problem. Here's why: hexdump -d /var/lib/sudo/mscs/0 000 00013 0 0 0 34816 0 0 0 010 3 0 0 0 01000 0 5 0 020 31291 0 0 0 028 hexdump -d /var/lib/sudo/mscs/0 000 00013 0 0 0 34816 0 0 0 010 3 0 0 0 01000 0 5 0 020 01464 0 0 0 028 See 31291, and 01464 in the second column near the bottom? It turns out that they correspond to SID. I checked using python: import os pid = os.getpid() sid = os.getsid(pid) print pid, sid 1775 1464 I tested this several times. Since the setsid can generate a new sid, and there are only 32768 possible SIDs as configured out of the box, how hard would it be to brute force the sid, simply running sudo -n -s? If SID isn't == to Inode, where's inode in that file? The ls -i command reports no difference in the inode of the file itself (545179 both times, even if the gnome-terminal is closed and re-opened.) I've poked at the sid option already, and have indeed had good success with getting sessions matching the sid using this brute force method. It's now a question of how I get that session lined up with the pty (which is predictable) and see if sudo -s works without a password at the last escalation time. Perhaps there is some other security feature that will block me, but right now I don't see it. Thoughts? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1219337 Title: Users can change the clock without authenticating, allowing them to locally exploit sudo.
