[Bug 1450137] Re: Qt5 applications crash when switching screens

2015-05-12 Thread Timo Jyrinki
The bug https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=345544 linked from
https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-45753 (linked from
https://codereview.qt-project.org/#/c/00/) has a claim from Stefan
that he doesn't see a particular crash anymore with Fedora's patched Qt.
The only relevant patch in that Fedora qtdeclarative seems to be this
same patch, so can maybe someone try to reproduce the crasher described
in that bug and then confirm it'd be fixed by the PPA?

That we way we could get at least one crasher fix in for starters.

[Bug 1453491] Re: Lockscreen will not unlock on the first try if the password has a capital letter as the first letter after the system resumes from suspend

2015-05-12 Thread Hugh Greenberg
I realized that step #1 won't demonstrate the bug. The password:
UBuntu11 will show the bug. I also realized that for step #2, you must
suspend by closing the lid. Pressing the suspend button will not
demonstrate the bug.

  * Version the Breaks: cloud-utils as 0.27-0ubuntu16 now works with
util-linux 2.26, and also move it to cloud-guest-utils.

util-linux (2.26.2-2ubuntu1) wily; urgency=medium

  * Merge from Debian unstable. Remaining changes:
- Regularly trim SSDs automatically (core-1311-ssd-trimming):
+ Add debian/fstrim-all.cron: Call fstrim --all. Installed as
/etc/cron.weekly/fstrim.
- Upstart support:
+ Add hwclock{-save}.upstart, and install them in debian/rules.
  + Drop debian/hwclock.rules and hwclock.default.
- Add mountall-options.patch, see patch header.
- Add debian/libblkid1.maintscript to clean up /etc/blkid.conf on upgrade.
This needs to be kept until after Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.
- Add libudev-dev build dependency for enabling LABEL information in lsblk
  (Closes: #776905)

[Bug 1129021] Re: Couldn't Connect to Cloud Service

2015-05-12 Thread Chris Williams
Worked out how to do the install. Still no change says printer needs a
firmware update and wont print.

Think it would be easier just to buy a wireless print server. All I want
to do is to print to a printer on my Ubuntu desktop from my Windows 7
PC. And no, Samba does not want to play ball.

Chris.

Hi Alberts,

Good work! I was also able to connect and logout multiple times after
restarting xrdp (sudo service xrdp restart).
All the processes end properly and the rdp window closes.

Now if we can just figure out what is different after restarting xrdp
compared to how it is after system boot...

Indeed, the notification service tracking is wobbly enough that when we
fixed the indicator's behaviour to clean up after itself on termination

[Bug 1447756] Re: segfault in log.c code causes phone reboot loops

2015-05-12 Thread Ondrej Kubik
I think I have nailed it down now, here is brief description what is happening
(if I read code right)
There seems to be race, when we get new log data for one of the jobs after job
has been terminated, and while processing it we call log_io_reader and
eventually log_file_write which will try to flash unflashed buffer to drive.
This succeeds, mind this is before we got disk writable signal.
Since it succeeds, unflashed-len becomes 0, but we don't remove that log
instance from list of logs which needs to be flashed (log_unflushed_files).
So next time when we get signal that disk is writable, we try again to flash
that log and BOOM it panics on assert checking that log has something to be
flashed, but it was already flashed.

Actual change of unfleshed log len changes on line 562, that's where we shrink
unflashed buffer by amount we managed to write to disk, which in our case if
full len, making buffer after shrinking zero length.
So I can see at least three fixes:
1) we should after calling nih_io_buffer_shrink (log-unflushed, (size_t)wlen);
try to check and if log-unflashed-len is 0, and if so then remove it from
the log_unflushed_files list.
2) we need to make log_clear_unflushed more tolerant to logs which has been
already flushed successfully before reaching to this point.
3) we don't try to flash unfleshed buffers till we get disk writable signal

alembic (0.7.4-1) experimental; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release.
  * Now generating the orig.tar.xz out of a git tag.
  * Taking over the package after the original maintainer wrote by email he
can't maintain the package anymore. Added Piotr as maintainer as he
also expressed interest in the package, as he maintains SQLAlchemy.
  * Ran wrap-and-sort as debian/control was really messy.

I don't really know then... Something should have been broken, and
upgrading doesn't seem to fix it... Probably a clean install might do
the trick, but at this point I'm not sure

Yes, also tcl-8.5 has the same conflict... however tcl8.5 should be
merged AFAICS.

Next time I'll propose a plain sync for tcl and tk 8.5

thanks!

[Bug 1454108] [NEW] HP Probook 450 usb ehci breaks between 3.13.0-36 and 3.13.0-37

2015-05-12 Thread Eddie Dunckley
Public bug reported:

Release: Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS
Package version: linux-image-3.13.0-37-generic
What expect to happen: USB to work after boot-up
Whap happened instead: dead USB, no dmesg messages when unplugging or plugging
in USB devices.

HP Probook 450 USB support got broken since 3.13.0-37. Ubuntu 14.04.2
LTS

Similar but not identical to problems as described in
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1072918.
All USB ports dead. dmesg shows ehci_hcd died. cleaning up.

By passing extra kernel parameters using grub menu:
ehci=noirq (or was that acpi=noirq) makes it work but that breaks onboard
ethernet.
also tried with tried iommu=soft (didn't work)

Tried all kernel images from 3.13.0-37 to 3.13.0-52 .. all the same
result: broken USB.

had to back-step to 3.13.0-36 ...

Just thought I'd mention, that might affect other HP Probook models as
well.

kernel modules affected: xhci_hcd, hid_generic, usbhid, ehci

** Affects: linux-lts-trusty (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

** Tags: ehci hp probook usb

[Bug 1447984] Re: Sim blocked dialogue broken on starting phone

2015-05-12 Thread Pete Woods
It turns out the underlying cause of this was that the indicator was
going into an infinite loop and then terminating. The notification
service then doesn't track its clients well (at all) and doesn't clear
up the fullscreen notification when the indicator dies.

So far we have a fix for the infinite loop in the indicator. But next we
need to make some enhancements to the behaviour of the notification
service.

2015-05-12 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when
trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following
command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal:

sudo apt-get clean

Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your
issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory
corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a
memory test. Thanks in advance!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1450066] Re: IPv6 hop limit set to 0

2015-05-12 Thread Borut Mrak
Please please cherry pick the patch from gnome bugzilla and apply it to
vivid

http://cgit.freedesktop.org/NetworkManager/NetworkManager/commit/?id=6a79acb0

This bug makes most IPv6 connections unusable without manual
intervention (either setting the hop limit on each router that does not
set that in RAs - most!) or manually changing the limit after every
connection.

I wouldn't say it's critical (most of us still have IPv4 access too :),
but it's definitely a High importance bug.

[Bug 1424491] Re: apt-get fails to install fglrx or fglrx-updates in 14.04.2 and 12.04.5

2015-05-12 Thread Po-Hsu Lin
@Peter-and-Crazybear (crazybear)
I just confirmed that this fix still in Trusty -proposed, not released to
-released yet, so it's Fix Committed in Trusty
Looks like it will be released soon.

For those who don't want to wait, you can enable proposed (be aware that you
might be running with the testing stage packages) in your Software Sources, and
let it refresh the software list.
And you will be able to install the fglrx proprietary driver.

  * TestTakeTheBusWorks doesn't block anymore, fixed leaking of
webcheckers. [client]

ubuntu-push (0.67+15.04.20150209-0ubuntu1) vivid; urgency=medium

[Bug 1447756] Re: segfault in log.c code causes phone reboot loops

2015-05-12 Thread James Hunt
lp:~jamesodhunt/upstart/bug-1447756-the-actual-fix contains the fix and
a new test (which correctly fails with the current lp:upstart but passes
with the fix in that branch).

The code has been tested on a failing device and a server system. I am
currently testing on a non-failing krillin device. I understand Ondra is
going to test on a couple of other devices that exhibit this bug to
further sanity check the code.

Once all these tests pass I'll raise an MP for the branch above to get
it merged to lp:upstart.

We'll then need to cherry pick the fix into both vivid and wily.

[Bug 1435663] Re: arm64/efi support

2015-05-12 Thread dann frazier
I am changing this back to verification-done even though bug 1447295
has not yet been root caused. My justification is:

  1) I attempted and failed to reproduce the possible regression reported in
bug 1447295.
  2) The failure mode in 1447295 looks more consistent with a bug in sed or
(more likely) an intermittent hardware failure (sed crashes with an Illegal
instruction)
  3) The only change made to the GRUB source is the addition of a dependency
for a different architecture than the system in bug 1447295.
  4) Attempts at completing root cause analysis of bug 1447295 have been
stalled for 10 days awaiting feedback from the reporter.

[Bug 1454322] [NEW] Add flake8 and qmlmin to make check

2015-05-12 Thread Christian Dywan
Public bug reported:

A frequent source of failure that's probably accumulating to quite a bit of
overhead in CI runs is flake8 errors. Less so are obvious syntax or type errors
in QML at runtime, nevertheless it would seem like a good idea to verify that.
I'm proposing to add these to make check so they can be caught much earlier on
the developer's machine.

No working Fn + function key combination on my Thinkpad Edge 11 laptop

Worked fine in 14.10 and I'm close to sure some combinations still worked right

A recent (last 14 days) update _might_ have caused this to stop working for all

[Bug 1426583] Re: ndiswrapper-dkms 1.59-2: ndiswrapper kernel module failed to build [error: implicit declaration of function ‘strnicmp’]

2015-05-12 Thread Julian Andres Klode
I fixed this in Debian in upload 1.59-3 which should be imported
automatically into wily. Not older versions of Ubuntu, though.

If there's a need to fix this in older releases as well (later than
precise), the patch is available inside the commit at:

http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/collab-
maint/ndiswrapper.git/commit/?id=fe307aab912c55fb357670e5e838c353712a689b

or as Support-kernel-4.0.patch in the 1.59-3 release.

[Bug 1454207] Re: Samsung 730U3E LCD backlight brightness control doesn't work

2015-05-12 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Would it be possible for you to test the latest upstream kernel? Refer
to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Please test the latest
v4.1 kernel[0].

If this bug is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following
tag 'kernel-fixed-upstream'.

If the mainline kernel does not fix this bug, please add the tag:
'kernel-bug-exists-upstream'.

If you are unable to test the mainline kernel, for example it will not boot,
please add the tag: 'kernel-unable-to-test-upstream'.
Once testing of the upstream kernel is complete, please mark this bug as
Confirmed.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1454319] [NEW] umount.ecryptfs_private prints Sessions still open, not unmounting

2015-05-12 Thread Christian Dywan
Public bug reported:

umount.ecryptfs_private which is executed by pam_ecryptfs always prints

Sessions still open, not unmounting

when the home directory is in use.

This breaks building with chroots in QtCreator.

umount.ecryptfs_private should grow a --quiet option and pam_ecryptfs
should exec it with that option.

It would probably make sense for QtCreator to cope with the output
regardless as it's still supported on older systems.

[Bug 1454312] Re: tst_components_benchmark::benchmark_creation_components Test data requested, but no testdata available.

2015-05-12 Thread Christian Dywan
Data points:

The test uses a variable defined to point at the build dir that's used by no
other test.
dir.setPath(UBUNTU_COMPONENT_PATH);

The issues look to have started when the following branch was merged without a
test run on auto landing.
