Bad news, i had the feeling for one week that the issue is solved, but
now the key repeats frequently again.

So i have no idea how to solve this.

[Bug 1462208] [NEW] Roaming neccessary even in national home mobile network with two SIM cards.

2015-06-04 Thread Michael Zukowski
Public bug reported:

Ukraine, I have to activate "roaming" to obtain mobile internet access,
even in my home network in Germany. As a negative side effect I will be
unable after changing to roaming for data connection to receive calls

for both SIM cards roaming access, for which the Ukrainian card is not

[Bug 1462196] [NEW] indicator-stinotes.py crashed with UnicodeDecodeError in decode(): 'utf-8' coded can't decode byte 0xae in position 5:invalid start byte

Hello experts,
I followed the following steps [1] and installed the stickynotes on Ubuntu

The details of this error says the following problem:
--
'indicator-stinotes.py crashed with UnicodeDecodeError in decode(): 'utf-8'
coded can't decode byte 0xae in position 5:invalid start byte'.

I found this useful post [2] indicating this bug for 14.04, I am not sure if I
understand how this patch works. Regarding my python, its
-
Python 2.7.6 (default, Mar 22 2014, 22:59:56)
[GCC 4.8.2] on linux2

I would appreciate any suggestions/comments on fixing this bug.

Thanks,

[Bug 1449372] Re: Scsi kernel messages are being printed on separate lines.

2015-06-04 Thread Dave Chiluk
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * The move to dev_printk has sufficiently modified the scsi error
+ output that it confuses some automated log monitoring. This causes some
+ errors to not be definitively connected to a disk. Context does help,
+ but separate line context is difficult to automatedly parse.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * Use a misbehaving disk that uses the scsi layer and look in kern.log
+ for what appears to be errantly wrapped lines in the scsi error output
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * Minimal both changes are clean cherry-picks. However as I do not
+ have any misbehaving discs I was only able to boot test this. I could
+ get fancy, but that would take more time.
+
+ * Both patches are upstream starting in utopic and vivid respectively.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ * This only partially resolves the issue. That's because the fix
(9e5ed2a5b3) that does solve this is very large, not a clean cherry-pick or
easily backportable, and requires too many prerequisites and in my opinion not
SRUable. That fix is available starting in v4.0. My guess is this should be
available in wily.
+
+
+ - Original description
+
It seems to me that kernel errors, specifically those from the scsi
driver, are being wrapped, which can confound automated log monitoring.

Example from dmesg -- the lines I marked with X are being printed on
separate lines where they previously weren't.

[6461080.699629] sd 0:2:2:0: [sdc] Unhandled sense code
  [6461080.699646] sd 0:2:2:0: [sdc]
  [6461080.699650] Result: hostbyte=DID_OK driverbyte=DRIVER_SENSE X
  [6461080.699653] sd 0:2:2:0: [sdc]
[6461080.699655] Sense Key : Medium Error [current] X
  [6461080.699661] sd 0:2:2:0: [sdc]
[6461080.699663] Add. Sense: No additional sense information X
  [6461080.699667] sd 0:2:2:0: [sdc] CDB:
  [6461080.699669] Read(16): 88 00 00 00 00 00 0c 23 92 e0 00 00 00 08 00 00 X
  [6461080.699684] end_request: I/O error, dev sdc, sector 203657952

This appears to affect 3.2 to pre-4.0, and was sane in lucid. I'm
certain it affects quantal to utopic, and vivid is partially mitigated.

[Bug 1462183] [NEW] Nautilus "Enter Location" Stops Working

2015-06-04 Thread Vindicator
Public bug reported:

Earlier, I had been able to use CTRL-L for "Enter Location" and it
worked. At some point I had pressed ESC to revert back to the button-
based paths.

Later on, with that same window open, I came back and tried CTRL-L and the path
didn't switch back to the textbox.
Even going to "Go"->"Enter Location" did nothing.

While writing this up, I did a test by closing that window, then opening a new
"Files" window and CTRL-L worked right off the bat.
This wasn't my first experience with that "bug", but enough times for me to
finally submit it when it happened.

Hopefully the data submitted will provide the information needed to find
the cause.

[Bug 1462177] [NEW] vpnc passively consumes data

2015-06-04 Thread Nathan Gober
Public bug reported:

When connecting to a vpn using Cisco AnyConnect (version 3.1.08009) on
Ubuntu 15.04, the client passively consumes about 600 KiB of data per
second over the network. It is certainly the AnyConnect client, because
the data flow stops when the vpn is disconnected or the service is
restarted (for instance, using systemd).

The data transmitted is mostly TCP window update packets and
corresponding acknowledgements. I have been in contact with my network
administrators and they see no more than a few dozen connections over
about 10 minutes, while my TCP dump shows hundreds of megabytes of data
being transmitted over the same period.

This problem did not exist on Ubuntu 14.10 or earlier. I have also
tested vpnc on Xubuntu 14.04 LTS, and the problem does not exist. The
problems were initially present on AnyConnect version 3.1.05182, and
were not solved in the recent (a month or so ago) update.

second over the network.

- This problem did not exist on Ubuntu 14.10 or earlier. The problems were
- initially present on AnyConnect version 3.1.05182, and were not solved
- in the recent (a month or so ago) update.
+ This problem did not exist on Ubuntu 14.10 or earlier. I have also

[Bug 1456730] Re: Hang after installing and running serviio

2015-06-04 Thread Juston Li
It actually hangs for me on a fresh install of 15.04 along with 15.10
Attached journal log from 15.10.

The issue seems to be the inability to terminate the serviio.sh java process
(PID1848)
Line 24190 is where the hang ends after the job to stop session-c1.scope times
out:

Jun 04 17:35:32 m51ac-x systemd[1]: session-c1.scope stopping timed out.
Killing.
Jun 04 17:35:32 m51ac-x systemd[1]: session-c1.scope changed stop-sigterm ->
stop-sigkill

sigkill takes care of the process and shutdown can continue.
Note: serviio-console.sh is PID1918 and gets terminated much earlier on line
23124

It might be a bug with serviio but as you mentioned, the processes can be
killed before shutdown,
no problem handling sigterm sent from terminal.

The problem only occurs when I logoff and logon: if I quit the plank,
and start it again, the pinned apps remains the same.

The desired behavior is that plank respects the apps pinned after a
logoff and logon. (like docky).

Marcelo.

Galen Thurber, just to advise, you don't have to apport-collect further
unless specifically requested to do so.

Despite this, the latest mainline kernel is 4.1-rc6 (not 4.1-rc2).

[Bug 1459367] Re: Realtek RTL8723BE wireless card drops connection in Linux kernel 3.19.0-18

2015-06-04 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Arnaud LE CAM, just to clarify, how long would you go without
interruption before the WORKAROUND?

>"Can I downgrade back to kernel 3.19.0-18 (setting ips and fwlps options to 0)
>to keep a "regular" Ubuntu install ?"
Feel free to test and advise if it changes anything.

>"Should I do nothing else to help debugging ?"
Please test the latest mainline kernel (now 4.1-rc6), with and without the
WORKAROUND, and advise to the results.

Also, does switching from 802.11n to g at the router change anything?

[Bug 1456881] Re: Some touchpads' right button doesn't work under I2C mode, need support of clickpads

2015-06-04 Thread Shih-Yuan Lee
The touchpad of Dell XPS 13 (2015) in I2C mode never works with trusty 3.13
kernel.
However the touchpad of Dell XPS 13 (2015) in PS/2 mode does work with trusty

I need to use osi_acpi="Windows 2013" to make it function in I2C mode with

[Bug 1333140] Re: Fix udev rules to consider mmc rpmb partitions

2015-06-04 Thread david6
I have done repeated installs of 14.04 LTS and 15.04 on an HP Stream 11
notebooks.

This issue generally does NOT occur, other than briefly during initial
load of Ubuntu installer (and sometimes during early stages of install).
This adds no more than 15% to the time it takes to install Ubuntu (with
eMMC storage), and will usually take less than 30 minutes.

However, I realised recently that this was ONLY true for new machines,
or those I had already installed Ubuntu on. Out of the box, I was
interrupting initial startup (at screen backlight on) to go directly to
(BIOS controls for) booting from USB device.

For machines that had were already running Windows 8.1 (or even just
asking for region / user details), it will no longer cleanly install
Ubuntu. I have had it take from 2 hours to 5-7 hours, or just stall
(after about 40 minutes) with continuous errors. This appears to be
spurious interrupts (which cause further errors) due to attempts to
access the RPMB partition. I am NOT even convinced that the Ubuntu
installer is causing these interrupts.

The other possible 'root cause' is that the problem machines (NEW or
used) were older, the same model Notebook but with an earlier generation
/ step release of eMMC chips. I don't have a large enough pool to prove
this, but someone may be able to shed light.

Change the restart_rpc_backend loop to accomodate async rabbitmq

Some distros have converted to systemd for starting RabbitMQ. This has
resulted in:
---
[Call Trace]
./stack.sh:904:restart_rpc_backend

Because 'restart_service rabbitmq-server' returns before the server is
ready to
accept connections.

Alter the retry loop to only restart the rabbitmq-server every second time
through the loop. Allowing time for the slow rabbit to start.

[Bug 1432194] Re: Graphics unstable on Ubuntu 14.04 and 14.10 using Intel HD Graphics 5500

2015-06-04 Thread Luke Darnell
I'm still seeing issues on 14.04.
I have the latest kernel - 3.16.0-38-generic

Symptoms are the same as before:
Use sna in the X11 conf.
Attach an external monitor.
Run for a while and you'll see characters start disappearing and title bars
corrupted.
Opening google earth seems to make things go bad pretty quick.

uxa is still a work around.
But sna is markedly faster, so I'd still love to be able to use that.

[Bug 1462147] [NEW] Random text characters partially or completely missing

2015-06-04 Thread Steven Usdansky
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu-Mate 15.10 development version updated as of 4-Jun 2300 UTC .
Video driver is nouveau

Problem began upon upgrading of

   xserver-xorg-core_1.17.1-0ubuntu3_amd64 and
   xserver-xorg-common_1.17.1-0ubuntu3_amd64xorg
to
   xserver-xorg-core_1.17.1-0ubuntu4_amd64 and
   xserver-xorg-common_1.17.1-0ubuntu4_amd64xorg

and was resolved by reverting to the pre-upgrade packages. Apparently random
text characters, or parts thereof, would be missing in various applications
including the Lightdm greeter, Firefox, Pidgin, Mate-terminal, the Mate panel
clock, Unetbootin, and the Mate menu. This occurs both at my monitor's native
resolution (1680x1050) and at 1600x1200.

[Bug 1462145] [NEW] race condition during layout change

2015-06-04 Thread Vladimir Gorelov
Public bug reported:

Hello there!

I have dual layout setup (English and Russian) at my Ubuntu 14.04 amd64 desktop.
Seems there is a race condition during layout change.
Example: I'm logged in. Current layout is English. Here is focus at any program
(browser, terminal or whatever).
Let's program would be terminal with running irc client. Then I'm answer some
questing in chat i'm changing layout from english to russian via pressing
alt-shift and then typing word in russian. But here is but! layout changing not
always done after alt-shift for some (race condition of any kind?) reason. So
part of sentence is in latin chars and some other part (as should be) in
cyrillics. The only way to workaround this is to wait a 1-2 seconds after
alt-shift. But this way is too much annoying and lame.

Please, fix the error or give me some workaround.
