[Bug 1455915] Re: Windows keys not working with Logitech G15 keyboard

2015-06-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Lastique, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel 3.16 to
3.19 in order to identify the last good kernel commit, followed
immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more expedited
analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do this
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ?

Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit
bisecting.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1339714] Re: Application windows do not become active when started via keyboard shortcuts

2015-06-06 Thread Michael Satke
Yee haw, I don't know how this problem was solved after all, but after
updating to 15.04 all applications started through keyboard shortcuts
become active (they appear in the foreground with keyboard focus).

E. g. keyboard focus is in the input field when gnome-calculator is
started. To whom it may concern, but thank you very very much!
Everything works fine now again. Michael

[Bug 1446724] Re: server is stable under older kernel (3.2.0-29.46), but crashes under newer kernels

[Bug 1461986] Re: can't change usb_charge attribute in /sys/devices/platform/sony-laptop

2015-06-06 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Black, as per http://www.sony.co.in/support/product/svf14212sn/download
an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available
(R0230DA). If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

If it doesn't, could you please both specify what happened, and provide the
output of the following terminal command:
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, and the information above is provided, then
please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1462591] [NEW] audio and micro on/off control with headset

2015-06-06 Thread Matthias Apitz
Public bug reported:

I as the user have the request to make calls while wearing a (in-ear or
other) headset connected to the BQ E4.5 device and I want to have with
this the following feaatures

1) control of the audio level with + and - buttons (i.e. not with a
potentiometer in the lines;
2) control of the micro on/off while in the call

and if possible too

3) hangup the call from the headset
4) answer calls from the headset

I did tests with the heaadset provided by Apple with the iPhone6. While
the audio in general works (tested with youtube and phone calls to an
automated answering system of my bank account), the buttons + and -
buttons did not have any effect; the button labeled with a micro symbol,
terminated the phone call.

In addition we should have a list of supported devices if BQ.com will
not offer them by their own.

Thanks for consideration.

[Bug 1462590] [NEW] unity-settings-daemon crashes using xrandr

2015-06-06 Thread sjjh
Public bug reported:

turning the screen by running the command 'xrand -o right' turns the
screen, but it then immediately comes back to normal. Then I get a crash
message of unity-settings-daemon. This problem also leads to non-working
key combinations, as CTRL + ALT + T to open a terminal or Fn + F1, Fn +
F2, Fn + F3, Fn + F4 to control volume/mic or Fn +F5, Fn + F6 to control
display brightness. In addition I then have problems running graphical
applications from command line, not finding the display and/or returning
Mir(!?) errors.

Unfortunately I failed to create a bug report by submitting the crash
report, so I'll attach it to this report and hope you can find all the
necessary information. Feel free to ask for more information or mark it
as duplicate pointing to an existing bug report.

Software: Pretty vanilla Ubuntu 15.04

[Bug 1047362] Re: Allow specifying an existing ovpn file instead of using the GUI for options

2015-06-06 Thread Jazza
Please add this, I beg it of you!

I've seen dozens and dozens of posts on the internet about problems that
could have been avoided if people could just specify their original OVPN
all because network manager doesn't support the custom configuration
settings in the OVPN during import or through the GUI.

Even just a new variable for the VPN definition under
/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections that network manager will just
use when launching OpenVPN

Eg:
ovpn-file=client.ovpn

Please! Anything!

[Bug 1241833] Re: Lubuntu 13.10 installation with full disk encryption fails

2015-06-06 Thread Markus Waidele
Had the same problem installing in a VM. A swapon -s shows that there
are two swap spaces created by zram (part of the RAM gets compressed and
and used like swap space but with higher priority than real swap
space).

For the installer it really seems that there is swap space enabled in
the system so it does what it should in this case: Warn about that and
cancel the installation. So no bug in my eyes.

With that information it's really easy to perform the installation
anyway: Open a terminal and type sudo /etc/init.d/zram-config stop.
After that there are no swap spaces provided by zram anymore and the
installer does it's job without complaining/aborting.

[Bug 1262022] Re: incorrect multi-arch related meta information.

2015-06-06 Thread Sean Brisbane
Health warning: You should not run any packages without security support
such as acroread. If you still want to, these are the steps which
worked for me

acroread will work without canberra-gtk-module, unity-gtk module,
murrine theme, and the overlay scrollbar you can ignore those messages
when just trying to get it to run (though, it will be nicer if these are
fixed, and the steps below do fix most of these warnings)

1)
apt-get install libgtk2.0-0:i386 libnss3-1d:i386 libnspr4-0d:i386 lib32nss-mdns
libxml2:i386 libxslt1.1:i386 libstdc++6:i386
apt-get install --reinstall gtk2-engines-murrine:i386 gtk2-engines-pixbuf:i386

2) To make many 32 bit programs work, you will also need the i386
versions of name service libraries:

It depends on the system how you do this:

aptitude search libnss | grep ^i | grep -v i386

i libnss-ldap - NSS module for using LDAP as a naming serv
i A libnss-mdns - NSS module for Multicast DNS name resoluti
i A libnss-sss - Nss library for the System Security Servic
i A libnss3 - Network Security Service libraries
i A libnss3-nssdb - Network Security Security libraries - shar

I needed to make sure that the 32 bit versions of the above were installed
apt-get install libnss-ldap:i386 libnss-mdns:i386 libnss-sss:i386 libnss3:i386
libnss3-nssdb:i386

Finally:
from
http://mastro77.blogspot.co.uk/2015/06/installing-adobe-reader-9-in-ubuntu-1404.html
You do not need to pull in any dependencies from precise, only acroread should
be installed by this next set of steps:

3)
sudo add-apt-repository deb http://archive.canonical.com/ precise partner
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install acroread
sudo add-apt-repository -r deb http://archive.canonical.com/ precise partner
sudo apt-get update

If other dependencies are required, to be safe, remove the precise repository
and install them from the trusty repository
sudo add-apt-repository -r deb http://archive.canonical.com/ precise partner
sudo apt-get update
apt-get install [list of missing dependencies]
and go back to step 3)

[Bug 1462583] [NEW] Ubuntu 14.04 LTS install with FakeRaid (DMRaid) - unable to install GRUB

2015-06-06 Thread Alvin Llanos
Public bug reported:

Decided to annihilate Windows 7 from my dad's computer and install
Ubuntu 14.04 LTS on it... and I thought Windows 7 was problematic (for
my dad to use - in my case - install). Tried numerous things, but too
tired (and upset) to explain. Have to figure out what to do now. I'm
assuming this is an issue with linux lack of support (or updated
support) for dmraid or fakeraid. Despite searching the vast internet
for clues on how to get this resolved, each time it it concludes to GRUB
not being able to install. Thought I was close bypassing dmraid and
using mdadm to manually create raid partitions, but it too concluded to
the same fate - of GRUB not being able to install.

I'm pretty new to the Linux-scene. Have been using Windows since 3.1,
but have started to ween off it with other successful installs of linux
(ubuntu, xubuntu, linux mint..).

The installation seems to recognize the fakeraid partitions as it
completely went through the entire installation with the exception of
the GRUB installation.

[Bug 1462586] [NEW] Autocreate doesn't recognize the device

2015-06-06 Thread Fabio
Public bug reported:

Clicking on autocreate in the device tab doesn't create a kit, but
instead pops a dialog: The supported framework of device is not known,
please make sure to redetect the device features. That happens on any
channel. Creating a framework from the ubuntu options solves the issue
for the stable channel.

Expected:

[Bug 1140716]

Chris, you referred me to this bug as I reported

Bug 90835 - [4.1-rc6] gpu hang: ecode 6:-1:0x, Kicking stuck
 semaphore on render ring

I skimmed through it and it appears that there are some patches to test? But
I am not sure which ones these are. Can you or someone else enlighten me?

There's likely a modest improvement in 4.2.

Also I note that I still use

 Option AccelMethod uxa

 and I have

 martin@merkaba:~ cat /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf
 options i915 modeset=1 i915_enable_rc6=7

Fortuitously that dangerous option doesn't do anything for your kernel.

 813a4b0e
thus maximum energy saving. But according to powertop it never enters the
 highest sleep state anyway.

I will remove the AccelMethod setting now and see whether it helps. If not,
I downgrade to 4.1-rc4 for now, as issues have been at least much less
 frequent with it.

Purely circumstantial.

And its really that for me 4.1-rc6 makes things much *worse*. I am typing
this after a clean reboot and already got the GPU hang again. It happens
about every few minutes. Are you really sure this is the same GPU hang? I
didn´t have this before 4.1 kernel?

Yes.

Well I found out why, I compiled i915 into the kernel it seems, at least
I don´t have an i915 module in lsmod. But also i915.i915_enable_rc6=7 on
kernel command line does not seem to have any effect. I removed the

 Purely circumstantial.

Since using SNA I didn´t see a GPU hang so far. Too early to say for
sure, but it seems something in UXA may have triggered it more easily.

2015-06-06 Thread god
Tried with 4.1.0-040100rc6-generic #201506010235 SMP x86_64 - the bug
still persist in exactly the same way.

** Tags added: apport-collected vivid

** Description changed:

After booting xubuntu 15.04 it's possible to suspend it the normal way
BUT - only until you've plugged external usb hard drive. After that
(even if it was unmounted and removed) it becomes impossible: the system
goes to suspend briefly (for bout 1 second) but immediately wakes up for
  no apparent reason.

- I suspect there's some weird bug in xfce power management - is there a
- way to disable it alltogether and rely on systemd directly instead?

[Bug 1462595] [NEW] Launchpad package selector offers non-existent packages

2015-06-06 Thread Tom Womack
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 42298 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/42298

Public bug reported:

I tried to report this against 'launchpad' on the
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+filebug page, but that's apparently
not a package that exists in Debian either!

Version: current launchpad.net

Reproducer:

* Go to the https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+filebug page
* Use the '(Choose...)' option to select the package
* Type 'apt-get' in the box
* Select apt-get-install from the options
* Carry on to report the bug

What I expected to happen:
* apt-get-install is accepted as a package

What actually happened:
* I get an error message 'apt-get-install does not exist in Ubuntu. Please
choose a different package. If you're unsure, please select I don't know'

What should happen:
The 'choose package' dialogue box should only let me select among packages
which would be accepted as entries in the 'In what package' text box

** Affects: ubuntu
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1462596] [NEW] apt-get autoremove takes quadratically long

2015-06-06 Thread Tom Womack
Public bug reported:

apt-get autoremove regenerates the initrd after removing each kernel.
Since you generally call this command only when your boot volume is full
of old kernels, it seems sub-optimal to regenerate the initrd eight
times when removing eight kernels. Could something be done with
triggers to do a single regeneration of the initrd at the end?

This is in 14.04

[Bug 1462585] [NEW] Emulators on devel channel have no kit associated

2015-06-06 Thread Fabio
Public bug reported:

Create a new emulator with devel or devel-proposed channel, and check
the kits associated. There's a written saying There's currently no kit
defined for your device. Clicking on autocreate pops a dialog saying
The supported framework of device is not known, please make sure to
redetect the device features. Creating a vivid framework from the Click
framework menu does'n solve the issue.

Expected: That vivid kit is recognized and that the autocreate button
created a proper kit

text characters, or parts thereof, would be missing in various applications
including the Lightdm greeter, Firefox, Pidgin, Mate-terminal, the Mate panel
clock, Unetbootin, and the Mate menu. This occurs both at my monitor's native
resolution (1680x1050) and at 1600x1200.

[Bug 1410801] Re: [AMD Richland + Topaz XT ] gpu-manager generated xorg.conf is not compatible with switchable graphics

2015-06-06 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package ubuntu-drivers-common - 1:0.4.6

---
ubuntu-drivers-common (1:0.4.6) wily; urgency=medium

  * gpu-manager.c, gpu-manager.py:
- Use the amdconfig tool to configure multi-amd PXpress. This
fixes a problem where the AMD control panel won't show an
option to switch between power saving mode and performance
mode on AMD+AMD hybrid systems (LP: #1410801).
- The tests now reflect a more relaxed approach so that we
do not overwrite configurations that are not supported (such
as multiple xscreens set in the xorg.conf).

[Bug 1453655] Re: desktop icons disappear on Ubuntu 15.04 when clicking Open Dropbox folder

2015-06-06 Thread Chow Loong Jin
The command is nautilus $HOME/Dropbox, not $HOME/Dropbox.

And nevermind, I've figured it out. Dropbox launches nautilus using
nautilus --no-desktop $HOME/Dropbox, which, in Ubuntu 15.04, turns off
the desktop icon rendering. I think this is solely a bug in nautilus,
because as far as I know, --no-desktop was supposed to just tell
nautilus not to render the desktop *only* while launching.

[Bug 1432413] Re: Synaptic Touchpad xevents are hijacked under X

2015-06-06 Thread Igor Lopez
I have now tried to get 15.04 up and working properly on a new disk but
did not succeed and I have no intention being part of troubleshooting
problems with 15.04 since I plan on staying on 14.04 for at least two
more years.

I do want to help troubleshooting this problem and I have nothing
against applying patches or building test kernels/drivers or whatever as
long we can get the synaptic touchpad to be fully usable.

[Bug 393947] Re: beneath-a-steel-sky should be set to system language by default

2015-06-06 Thread Alexandre Detiste
Hi,

This is fixed in git for Lure Drascula:

http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-games/lure-of-the-temptress.git/tree/debian/lure
http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/pkg-games/drascula.git/commit/?id=1896a6dc1a42c26c14a1dff8672f9360652cb7e2

FOTAQ needs extra ressources:
  https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=783925

BASS not, so I'll write a patch for it soon, mostly copying the one for
lure drascula.

Bonne journée

It is clearly not obvious that it should be connected to dropbox. In fact it

That works properly. Right click on the dropbox icon - Open Dropbox folder
will kill my desktop icons. This didn't used to happen before 15.04.

Hmm, it doesn't seem to do this for me. I'm running 15.04 too.

Could you try opening a terminal, and running this command:
nautilus $HOME/Dropbox

Then check if the the bug occurs.

[Bug 1462620] [NEW] enhance support for virutal interfaces on remote machines

2015-06-06 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
Public bug reported:

Currently `fwbuilder` doesn't seem to support virtual interfaces (e.g.
one created by stanza `iface eth0:1 inet dhcp` and assigning it an
address with `sudo ifconfig eth0:1 hw ether 00:22:22:ff:ff:ff sudo
dhclient eth0:1` (e.g. in `post-up`)) on a remote firewall. After the
`fwbuilder` installation routine has been run remotely, the previously
set up interface is gone and the installation script fails (example log
attached).

[Bug 1300914] Re: External screen undetected after first plug

2015-06-06 Thread Nick Demou
I have a DisplayPort output and two adapters. DP to HDMI and DP to VGA.
I have weeks to experience the issue with the DP2HDMI converter but it
happens every time with the DP2VGA converter. I've ordered an other
DP2VGA converter. Let's see.
