[Bug 1466367] [NEW] Installer ask where to install boot loader during uefi installation
Public bug reported: During UEFI boot install of 14.04.2 (from ~2015-6-16) the installer asks for a location to install a boot loader. But according to https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI it shouldn't. I'm sure i'm booting in uefi. I tried the uefi only image and normal way of creating the usb install drive. I have legacy boot disabled and created a new uefi boot entry pointing to the boot.efi on the usb drive. During boot i see the black screen giving me the choice what to do (install, try, check). I already have Debian 8 installed in uefi mode (no problems) and thus have an ESP. I can select the partition for / but cant set the mount point for the ESP. I don't want to risk installing grub to mbr by asking for a place fot the boot loader so i stop installing Ubuntu from that point. It is a new mSata disk. On an other non ssd disk i have w8 and Ubuntu 14.04.2 installed, but when that disk is removed the situation is the same. Because of previous installations (on non ssd) there is an uefi entry (ubuntu) visible during boot. How can i safely and certain install Ubuntu in UEFI mode without installing something/grub in MBR? ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: uefi ** Tags added: uefi -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1466367 Title: Installer ask where to install boot loader during uefi installation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/1466367/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1465675] Re: API needed to determine if App ID is a scope
I have two concerns: - Just looking whether a file is installed somewhere isn't going to work. That's because the installation locations aren't fixed. For example, it's possible to run multiple scopes run times side-by-side on the same machine without having them interfere with each other, by changing configuration files. Among other things, tests and the SDK rely on being able to change configurations. But, to figure out what the current configuration is requires a fair bit of heavy lifting in terms of parsing configuration files and the like. Now, we sure can do this. But, to do it right, we'll have to spin up a client-side run time. This isn't all that cheap (about 35 ms on a Nexus 4). So, doing this would be worth it only if you could keep that run time around for multiple queries. Spinning up and shutting down a separate run time instance just to answer a single question is simply too expensive. - I'm reluctant to add knowledge about how things are packaged into the scopes run time with, really, has no business knowing about such things. Could you look through the click manifests somehow instead to figure this out? Seeing that click knows everything about packaging already, that would seem cleaner? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1465675 Title: API needed to determine if App ID is a scope To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/unity-scopes-api/+bug/1465675/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1465566] Re: Needs a refresh button, and address bar keeps disappearing
I am running it on the BQ Aquarius E4.5 with all latest updates. I don't know the browser version, where would I find that? It's not listed in Ubuntu Store (or else hard to find there). There should be an option in Settings to have address bar stay visible at all times. I know it works on other browsers on other OSes the same way, where it hides, and it is really annoying there as well. Just because Google does it a certain way does not mean that Ubuntu has to copy them. Ubuntu should be different and an OS that does things better and with more user customisability, it is open source. As for the refresh button, hiding it behind the favicon is bad design. It should be visible easily -- maybe add it to the drop down menu, or have a swipe that refreshes as in other apps -- swiping down from near the top of the web page. I am surprised that was not implemented. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1465566 Title: Needs a refresh button, and address bar keeps disappearing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/webbrowser-app/+bug/1465566/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1316035] Re: matrox g200eR2 is unclaimed in 14.04
Same problem here on a certified PowerEdge r820 with Ubuntu server 14.04.2, no GUI installed, only CLI. The framerate is very slow, using commands like 'ls' or 'less' is almost painful. Adding vesa or mga drivers didn't change a thing. I cannot put a personalized xorg.conf since xorg-server is not even installed. I found two separate workarounds (not fixes) to this: 1. install openssh server and log into the server from another machine. Everything works fine, fast and responsive. 2. modify /etc/default/grub to reduce the resolution of CLI by editing the line GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT= into GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=splash vga=1024x768x24. Then run sudo update-grub and reboot. CLI is now low resolution but fast and responsive. I didn't try with higher resolution yet. [Bug 1328183] Re: User-Agent string results in poor UX on web
In 2012, Mozilla developers explained why they chose not to include Android in their mobile UA string. https://wiki.mozilla.org/B2G/User_Agent Summary: Sites that mistakenly serve desktop-formatted pages are less likely to result in support calls, and are easier to address with evangelism, than sites that reasonably promote Android apps to a browser that claims to be running on Android. And that evangelizing sites to Send your mobile version to any browser with 'Mobi' in its UA string helps not just Firefox but every other mobile browser (for example, Ubuntu's). [Bug 1466439] [NEW] Ark fails to extract properly a zip file containing files with read only permission together with a sticky bit
Public bug reported: The Android application Airdroid packs multiple files in a zip file when importing from a android device. This downloaded zip file when extracted yields to empty files, the same zip file when extracted with other archive managers( I tested with peazip and the command line utility unzip) produces the files contained in the zip correctly. On initial analysis I found the file permissions of the files in the zip having read only permissions and with sticky bit. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download multiple files from your android device using Airdroid app 2. Extract the downloaded zip file using ark 3. Check the file size of the extracted files with that of the expected ones Actual Results: Ark extracts files that are empty instead of extracting the zip correctly Expected Results: When the zip file with multiple files download with the android app Airdroid is extracted it should produce the files contained in the zip correctly. Two of the lines I found interesting in the debug logs are below Kerfuffle::Archive::create: Loading plugin kerfuffle_libarchive ark(6055) Kerfuffle::ReadOnlyArchiveInterface::ReadOnlyArchiveInterface: Already reported this bug upstream, but it was resolved as downstream.
