[Bug 1475956] [NEW] xfsettingsd kills my current session upon lid event
Public bug reported: I have not a standard DE configuration and I'm using xfsettingsd without session manager. I cannot use xfce settings manager because it requires xfwm and I'm using a different window manager. At start xfsettingsd complains about missing session manager but it continue to work. Such a configuration works perfectly well beside the fact that xfsettingsd registers a lid close/open event handler and tries to shutdown monitor outputs when the lid is closed. Here is a debug output of the lid close event - http://paste.ubuntu.com/11902403/ The problem is that when the lid is closed all processes are killed upto lightdm (login screen). I noticed that because one of my notebooks has 'eDP1' display type and everything works as expected with it. Apparently this problem occurs only for display types with 'LVDS' and 'PANEL' in their names: [code] for (n = 0; n < helper->outputs->len; ++n) { output = g_ptr_array_index (helper->outputs, n); g_assert (output); /* Try to find the internal display */ if (g_str_has_prefix (output->info->name, "LVDS") || strcmp (output->info->name, "PANEL") == 0) { lvds = output; break; } } if (!lvds) return; [/code] As a workaround I hex edited the binary replacing 'LVDS' with 'LVDD'. Still I'd prefer a more robust solution. Should the display state be manipulated at all by the xfsettingsd upon lid event? Shouldn't this be pm-utils task or xfce4-power-manager? - $ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS Release:14.04 $ apt-cache policy xfce4-settings xfce4-settings: Installed: 4.11.2-1ubuntu2 Candidate: 4.11.2-1ubuntu2 Version table: *** 4.11.2-1ubuntu2 0 500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ** Affects: xfce4-settings (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1475956 Title: xfsettingsd kills my current session upon lid event To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xfce4-settings/+bug/1475956/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1475951] [NEW] laptop-mode-tools (1.64-1ubuntu1) does not start in Vivid
Public bug reported: In an Ubuntu Trusty minimalistic, (custom), started from the menus, it does not start. It appears there are two things which prevent it from being started. It seems the /usr/sbin/lmt-config-gui needs to be started with administration privilege, but the command line in the desktop file doesn't mention. Then, when started with "gksu -S lmt-config-gui", it does not start and errors about Qt4 module missing. It appears that once python-qt4 is installed, it can be started. [Bug 1465862] Re: Mouse Cursor Invisible
I don't know if the tuner and LAN issues warrant a report since I think it may be by design. The LAN issue was due to redacted code: http://git.kernel.org/cgit/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git/commit/?id=bc2bebe8de8ed4ba6482c9cc370b0dd72ffe8cd2 When adding the code back in, I am now able to WOL just fine as well as still Sleep with no problems. The TV tuner, somewhat simply, didn't include a PID value in ./drivers/media/usb/au0828/au0828-cards.c, so I just duplicate the nearest VID/PID pair { USB_DEVICE(0x05e1, 0x0480) replacing 480 with my 400. [Bug 1475942] [NEW] Unity Notifcation Daemon does not support buttons
Public bug reported: Desktop Unity Notification Daemon does not support buttons, not like almost other desktops (see attachment). The possibility to add buttons for the developer of software would be really helpful. E.g. Roger (http://en.tabos.org/home) a tool for the VOIP/SIP-Router Fritzbox shows incoming calls and the notification gives you the options to Accept, Decline, Cancel or Ok the call. But as the unity notification daemon does not support buttons roger falls back to the not elegant GTK-window. [Bug 1475937] [NEW] No phone icon
Public bug reported: In the contacts app, when you select a contact, there is an icon next to each phone number, which if pressed will open a new message to that number. Similarly there should be a phone button next to each number, which should immediately start a call. [Bug 1442649] Re: nautilus trash doesn't include btrfs subvolumes
The trouble seems to stem from glib's way of deleting files being different to the way gvfs tries to locate trash directories. glib's gio/glocalfile.c contains the find_mountpoint_for function which is used to determine the device's root directory as location to put the .Trash- directory. It looks at the stat(2) st_dev value ("device number"). btrfs gives each subvolume a different device number. gvfs's trashlib searches for trash directories based on mount points determined by getmntent_r(2). I do not know how to fix it in general. A fix for btrfs might be to search for all subvolumes of a btrfs mount point returned by getmntent_r(2). Not sure if you can listen to new subvolumes being created after the initial search, though (maybe inotify can?). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1442649 Title: nautilus trash doesn't include btrfs subvolumes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1442649/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1475925] [NEW] kauth-policy-gen missing localization
Public bug reported: In Kubuntu kauth-policy-gen is used to generate polkit config files (.policy) for particular packages. Although polkit does currently not allow localization, UI visible strings are contained in these config files. The package "libqapt" which is used by Muon Discover for example has a fully localized .actions file that is the input for kauth-policy- gen. However, those translations are currently not used since kauth- policy-gen only extracts the English version of each action defined. Effects of this bug: Translations for some UI strings in Kubuntu affecting security-relevant user interactions (e.g. asking for password to install updates) are not translated. Possible workaround/solution: Adapt kauth-policy-gen to create .policy files with action names according to the current system locale setting. This solution is very simple and does not require polkit to be localized since kauth-policy-gen will simply write strings in the .policy file that match the users' language. ** Affects: kauth (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Hendrik Knackstedt (hennekn) Status: New ** Tags: i18n kubuntu wily ** Changed in: kauth (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Hendrik Knackstedt (hennekn) ** Tags added: kubuntu -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1475925 Title: kauth-policy-gen missing localization To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kauth/+bug/1475925/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
