[Bug 1403758] Re: Unity8 shows black screen with Qt 5.4.0

2015-08-17 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Just to collect information in this bug, the fPIC requirement and fPIE
banning in Qt now is because of this:
https://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=65886

This bug originally however is about a problem that shows up when that
related Bsymbolic option is enabled on armhf too. This needed forcing
but we forced it at one point since it was believed the toolchain bug
was fixed. However, for now it remains disabled on non-x86 (the default
of Qt upstream) because of the persisting bug, but it may be re-enabled
later if the bug is resolved.

The toolchain bug (fPIC + Bsymbolic misbehaving on arm) is last
described at https://bugreports.qt.io/browse/QTBUG-47350

[Bug 1480060] Re: Fonts in GUI garbled, missing characters on Lenovo X1 Carbon 3rd Gen

2015-08-17 Thread zlatko
@tjaalton
What latest updates I need to install? Can you point me where to look for them?
I always install all proposed updates and I thought as 14.04 is LTS these are
the latest stable stuff.
Thank you in advance!

[Bug 1485863] [NEW] gpg: decryption failed: secret key not available

gpg is set as /usr/bin/gpg2 and gpg is alias to gpg2 for me. I don't see
anything wrong anywhere, but Enigmail still believes that I don't have
the keys which gpg directly sees.

It looks like we are all having the same issue:

...and it would make sense if the heart of the problem lies with Xorg
server, seeing as people with NVIDIA and AMD ATI cards are both
experiencing the same issue.

[Bug 1472097] Re: XMir crashes when running with -rootless

2015-08-17 Thread Robert Ancell
Reproducable by running:
(on VT1)
$ sudo mir_demo_server
(on VT2)
$ sudo chown $USER.$USER /var/run/user/$PID/mir_socket
$ XMir :1 -rootless &
(switch to VT1 then back to VT2)
$ DISPLAY=:1 xeyes
(XMir crashes)

The rootless code is kind of hacky, so I'd definitely use non rootless
mode until it's better understood / fixed.

- Failed assertion in compCopyWindow

[Bug 1485829] [NEW] cannot upgade from 14.04 to 14.10

2015-08-17 Thread Pelsamy
Public bug reported:

After updating your package information, the essential package
'ubuntu-minimal' could not be located. This may be because you have
no official mirrors listed in your software sources, or because of
excessive load on the mirror you are using. See /etc/apt/sources.list
for the current list of configured software sources.
In the case of an overloaded mirror, you may want to try the upgrade
again later.

[Bug 1483868] Re: keyboard doesn't work after xscreensaver shuts down the monitor

2015-08-17 Thread Alberto Salvia Novella
Does any of the following actions make the bug to stop?:
- Switch to a non terminal window.
- Pressing the Alt + Tab key combination.
- Minimizing and maximizing the application.

Does locking the screen (Ctrl+L) make the bug to appear?
