[Bug 1488352] [NEW] nvidia-346 prime alternatives not set up properly
Public bug reported: I just installed the nvidia-346 drivers with all its dependencies. I then rebooted twice (the very first reboot started to load the system and went back to grub, so I removed the 'quiet' string from the loader to check what happened, I noted that some nouveau libraries were loaded, is it normal?). [Bug 1385568] Re: openvpn submenu of network-manager unresponsive
I am on 14.04.3 LTS and have probably had this bug for about at least a year now, based on when the "Edit Connections" panel says my VPN connections were last used. I can't remember now when it started for me, but it was probably around the time I upgraded to 14.04. In my case my connections are using VPNC rather than OpenVPN, but the rest of the issue seems similar. My VPN Connections submenu is not greyed out, but clicking produces no effect. All other options on the applet menu work when clicked except for the VPN submenu. I only just now discovered today that I could actually still get connect to a VPN using the buttons under System/Network. Prior to now I have been surviving by using sudo vpnc connect from the terminal. So far, nothing I have tried has made the submenu responsive, including reinstalling network manager and all the plugins I could find in Synaptic. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1385568 Title: openvpn submenu of network-manager unresponsive To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-openvpn/+bug/1385568/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1488327] [NEW] Indicator bar animation latency is artificially high
Public bug reported: The indicator bar animation latency seems to be artificially high -- limited to a fixed speed that it uses when you release it. I suggest it should be designed to move more quickly while you're touching it. Because in a low latency experiment today I've found I can make the dash more responsive than the shell's indicator pulldown: 1. Install devel-proposed (wily) which now has Mir 0.15 and its lower latency. 2. Lower latency further with these experimental options: restart unity8 QML_NO_TOUCH_COMPRESSION=1 MIR_SERVER_NBUFFERS=2 You may have to use mako to ensure it's got the power to keep up... Result: Dash scrolling is now faster and more responsive than the indicator pulldown. The dash tracks your finger but the indicator pulldown seems to have it's own max speed, which is slower. ** Affects: qtmir Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: unity8 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: qtmir Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1488327 Title: Indicator bar animation latency is artificially high To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/qtmir/+bug/1488327/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1476201] Re: Dynamic double buffering fails to detect inertial dash scrolling as slow; and stutters instead of scaling up to triple buffers.
I now also realize the bug isn't really about dynamic queue scaling either. The same issue happens with fixed double buffering: restart unity8 QML_NO_TOUCH_COMPRESSION=1 MIR_SERVER_NBUFFERS=2 The core of the problem is probably that the kernel scaling/frequency governors clock down when not touching the screen, which is too slow for double buffers. [Bug 1488077] Re: Have the optional ability to have a screensaver
We don't install gnome-screensaver since it is not used under gnome- shell, in fact the lock screen is an integration between gnome- shell/gdm. using gnome-screensaver or xscreensaver is likely to break that. Adding a screensaver to gnome-shell and a panel to configure it would be a pretty big task, far too large to carry as a Distro patch. [Bug 1177394] Re: USB sequence errors in snd_usb_usx2y
I'm reopening this old bug report, because it's still not really fixed, even in the most recent kernels, and I've finally had a chance to do some more debugging. Here's what I found, after doing some git bisects and compiling a whole lot of kernels: This is the first commit causing the problem: kernels after this point exhibit the "sequence errors" messages in the log. commit c44b225077bb1fb25ed5cd5c4f226897b91bedd4 Author: Alan Stern Date: Mon Oct 1 10:32:09 2012 -0400 UHCI: implement new semantics for URB_ISO_ASAP Later on, more usb changes occured around commit bef073b067a7b1874a6b381e0035bb0516d71a77, right before v3.12-rc3 - after this point, the messages no longer appear in the log, but instead, there's a kernel panic when I use the Tascam - sometimes it works for a while, and sometimes it crashes right away. This is true for kernels well into this year (though I haven't tested the most recent ones, it doesn't look like this USB code has been touched since 2013). I hope this is useful for further debugging - as things stand, I have to boot up a 3-year-old kernel to use the device! ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Expired => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1177394 Title: USB sequence errors in snd_usb_usx2y To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1177394/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

If GCC 5 cannot work alongside compilers that don't support abi_tag, than maybe the abi_tag implementation needs to be reviewed, and rewritten so that they do. [Bug 1308264] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 Beta 2 stuck at "Switched to clocksource tsc" when booting up, then resumes booting to the login screen, after 1 minute

[Bug 1479913] Re: SRU request: fglrx.ko fails because of backported GPL-only 'pci_ignore_hotplug' symbol
This bug has caused a situation whereby I will probably have to reinstall Ubuntu in order to get the up-to date kernel running on my hardware. See comments 38, 42, 51 and 53 for details. I filed another bug report to describe my particular situation: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1486673 This new bug report has not been dealt with, but I have marked it as fixed, as it seems to be a vanishingly rare occurrence (only one other user reported anything similar) and the root cause has been dealt with here. I include this information here however, for the record. [Bug 1454473] Re: In Ubuntu 15.04, simply moving the mouse via touchpad scrolls the window
YO! As a temporary automated fix, you can add the command: xinput set-prop "DLL0665:01 06CB:76AD UNKNOWN" --type=int --format=8 "Device Enabled" && xinput set-prop "DLL0665:01 06CB:76AD UNKNOWN" --type=int --format=8 "Device Enabled" 1 To the startup applications app in Ubuntu. [Bug 627195]
So... this has been sitting in my inbox for a *long* time, sorry. I think a better approach would be to suggest clients make direct use of the desktop entry spec, rather than duplicating the methods here. We already have a property to direct clients to the desktop file for the media player, so they can check that desktop file for whether it can be activated, and call the org.freedesktop.Application Activate() method. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/627195 Title: Window management - Apps raised from indicators sometimes dont have the focus To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/627195/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 627195]
Created attachment 88321 Add org.mpris.MediaPlayer2.Activate Alex, the desktop entry spec recently gained support for org.freedesktop.Application, which has a method Activate() that takes a platform data. I think it makes sense to reuse this terminology and the platform-data convention. The attached patch deprecates Raise() and CanRaise in favor of Activate() and CanActivate.
