[Bug 1489154] [NEW] NetworkManager does not start / fails to start

2015-08-26 Thread LAZA
Public bug reported:

Yesterday i did the upgrade to version 1.0.4 of NetworkManger.

Today my Xubuntu 15.10 cannot connect to the net, and wants to upload a crash
report.
This also fails cause the start of the NetworkManger fails after booting.

Trying manually to start with

~$ sudo systemctl start NetworkManager

leads that the icon comes up, disappears, comes up, disappears for 3, 4
times and then it's gone forever.

~$ journalctl -xe

[Bug 1033013] Re: When increasing window size/resolution in Widelands, cursor borders doesn't seem to be updated in Unity

2015-08-26 Thread Hans Joachim Desserud
As an update, I'm now running Ubuntu 15.04, with
unity 7.3.2+15.04.20150420-0ubuntu1
compiz 1:0.9.12.1+15.04.20150410.1-0ubuntu1

and I have not seen any more of this issue since my previous comment
with either the packaged version of Widelands, or the development
version. Thus, I believe whatever caused this issue has been resolved
some time ago.

[Bug 1455850] Re: lxpanel battery applet shows my battery as beign charged in now even though it is only half charged.

2015-08-26 Thread Sri
I had this functionality working in my Lubuntu 15.04 until recently, but
since an update today I am observing that it will neither show the
correct charge nor show the time until full charge (shows 0:00).

[Bug 1486673] Re: Attempting to enable multi-screen mode via amdcccle (with screen 1 to the right of screen 2) causes X to crash severely, as soon as you hit OK or Apply

2015-08-26 Thread Sinisa Radalj
interesting is that i fix it ,when i accept fglrx-updates ,after i run
apt-get update in recovery console with read write mode with
networking, and more interesting is that i do not install fglrx-updates
,and even after log in i double check in over menu in ubuntu in
software and updates or neither with package manager i do not have
fglrx-updates at all, and i do not use fglrx-updates.. i use fglrx
manually installed.. synaptic knows for sure.

sure i will not erase last and older version of kernel so fast ,as i
used to be spoiled due no problems for so long time..

well trick is obviously that even one step down to older kernel not help
in my case and lead me in wrong way ,seems 2 step down is right to
exactly that one which came with 15.04..so that's why when you overwrite
with re-install all works.

but i keep with newest, and seems all is not perfect as i keep getting
red triangle, not immediately but came after few hours..,but no package
is reported broken in package manager..now came again after update of
ubuntu base..

sure i will read all mentioned links..well about affected people is more
then two,as as soon i can go on internet i read solution for similar
same symptoms,to go back to original kernel which is shipped with
15.04..just those not reported bug..

well it so easy to overwrite just system partition,(and keep all
settings in all other partitions),and then reinstall additional
programs, seems and look more like update.. . life can be even more easy
and good with ubuntu..but i am sorry for those who keep all on one
partition..well i have red triangle from time to time, but no package is
broken and all i try works...

sure i will now read all mentioned links, and links from there, thanks a
lot for that and respond.

[Bug 1489072] Re: /usr/bin/unity8:11:LauncherModel::applicationRemoved:LauncherModel::qt_static_metacall:QMetaObject::activate:QMetaObject::activate:QAbstractItemModel::rowsAboutToBeRemoved

2015-08-26 Thread Michael Zanetti
After digging for a while in QtMir's code, the code path described by
the stacktrace seems ok too.

One notable thing: according to errors.ubuntu.com the issue started
happening first on 4th of August, which is when a refactoring of the
code in question landed in qtmir.

Could not manually reproduce the issue yet. The stack trace says it
happens when an application is closed by the user, or at least a
ApplicationManager.stopApplication() call is issued from qml. That could
also be when shutting down the phone and closeAllApps() is called.

[Bug 1481388] Re: NTP : Use-after-free in routing socket code after dropping root

2015-08-26 Thread Eric Desrochers
debdiff for precise

** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * User experienced repeated segfaults at the same instruction pointer
+
+ i/o error on routing socket No buffer space available - disabling
+ segfault at 31 ip 0031 sp 79f11788 error 14 in
libpthread-2.15.so[7f967a5d9000+18000]
+
+ The remove_ and delete_ functions remove the current element from the
+ asyncio_reader_list, and free it, respectively.
+
+ We then return back to the loop at the top, wherein the asyncio_reader
variable still points at the now-freed element, whose contents are (in theory)
now scrambled
+ by having link pointers, etc, from internal malloc state overlaying the data.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ You can easily reproduce the bug by :
+
+ - Lowering the sysctl value net.core.rmem_max
+
+ $ sysctl -w net.core.wmem_max=LOWER_VALUE
+ This sets the max OS send buffer size for all types of connections.
+
+ - Adding multiple network interfaces and static routes.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ None expected since the fix is already available upstream
+ (https://github.com/ntp-project/ntp.git) and Debian package.
+
+ If after installing the patch, user are receiving this kind of message in
/var/log/syslog : routing socket reports: No buffer space available.
+ The next step, would be to increase the net.core.rmem_max and
net.core.wmem_max values equally until the routing socket reports: No buffer
space available message no longer showed up.
+
+ [Other Info]
+
+ NTP upstream (https://github.com/ntp-project/ntp.git)
+ [Bug 2224] Use-after-free in routing socket code after dropping root. -
Commit: d6df9d3
+ [Bug 2890] Ignore ENOBUFS on routing netlink socket. - Commit: db47bd4
+
+ The use-after-free bug has been fix in Debian release (closes: #795315)
+ Will submit the ignore-ENOBUFS-on-routing-netlink-socket in Debian in the
next days.
+
+ [Original Description]
+
We have 1 server (among hundreds) that its ntp service is crashing.

A few minute/seconds after a start attempts we can see the following in
syslog:
  ntpd[2729]: peers refreshed
ntpd[2729]: Listening on routing socket on fd #49 for interface updates
ntpd[2729]: i/o error on routing socket No buffer space available - disabling
  kernel: [157516.495224] ntpd[2729]: segfault at 31 ip 0031 sp
79f11788 error 14 in libpthread-2.15.so[7f967a5d9000+18000]

  OS: Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS
  Kernel: 3.11.0-19-generic

I tried to compare it to other servers, and the only thing I could find that
is different is that while it's up (before it crashes) I can see the following
when running lsof | grep ntp:
  ntpd 2729 ntp 49u sock 0,7 0t0 2473952565 can't identify protocol.

[Bug 1489129] [NEW] 100% gs CPU usage, slow printing of PDF files

2015-08-26 Thread Nathan Gingras
Public bug reported:

Recently, larger-ish PDF files are printing very slowly.

This PDF, for example: http://cdn.sazs.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/03
/Corporate-Formal-Banquet-Menu-2014.pdf

Printing to any printer, the process gs will occupy 100% cpu for several
minutes before the print job is actually sent. During this time an error
will appear in a notification bubble that states [printername] may not
be connected

The job will eventually print. On older systems this same document takes
half an hour to print.

[Bug 1489109] [NEW] system freezing with bluetooth sony vaio mouse

2015-08-26 Thread Edson T. Marques
Public bug reported:

Hello,

I am testing Ubuntu-gnome 15.10... For this, I installed Wily in my
notebook Sony VAIO SVS151290. I bought this notebook already with a Vaio
integrated bluetooth mouse from Sony.

While I used the Vivid I could use the mouse normally but after I did a
fresh install of Wily, I began to realize that Ubuntu started to freeze
completely, so that I am forced to shut down the notebook for it to
return to work. Ctrl+Alt+F'n' does not work, 'Caps Lock' does not work,'
Num Lock' does not work ... the computer stay completely paralyzed
showing the frozen screen with content that was running just before
freezing.

At first I thought it was some crash that could be linked to the new
kernel 4.1.0-3, but then one day, I had to put the mouse to recharge and
I noticed that the Ubuntu worked normally throughout all the day.

From there I started doing some tests and found that the crash only
occurs when I use the Sony VAIO mouse... If I do not to connect the
mouse and use only the touchpad, everything works normally without
freezing.

Every new update of Wily I've been redoing the tests but so far, the
freezing is still occurring.

Thank you very much!

[Bug 1489116] [NEW] Unable to set gif as locked screen image, nor as background image

2015-08-26 Thread The Unknown
Public bug reported:

I have recently noticed that even after moving a gif into my Pictures
folder, that when going Settings Background and then going to the
tab Pictures, I am only able to see the images in that folder which
are not gifs, so I have no way of setting the gif as either my
background nor my locked screen image (which is what I would like it to
be). Even when I go to that image and right-click on it and select Set
as wallpaper I only get a still image version of it, no animation as
there should be. So it would be really good if you could set gif images
as your backround image and your locked screen image.

[Bug 1489117] [NEW] network-manager-gnome dont work properly after waking from hibernation

2015-08-26 Thread keshavbhatt
Public bug reported:

Network-manager-gnome don't work properly after waking the machine from
hibernation ,
i have found a workaround for this problem and the solution to get back the
networkmanager back is sudo killall NetworkManager //(restart nm)

the problem is i can not enable networking after hibernation . the applet shows
a option (checkable menu item titled Enable Networking ) but on clicking it
nothing happens. the check comes up but network services like wifi mobile
broadband dont work (dont know what happens at backend but the options to
enable/connect to them doesn't show up in nm-applet )
.

[Bug 1489147] [NEW] Booting live Wily image results in black screen with wait for plymouth boot screen to quit warning

2015-08-26 Thread Erick Brunzell
Public bug reported:

I've run into this testing both the amd64 and i386 Ubuntu GNOME
20150826.1 images. But it only occurs after selecting Try Ubuntu from
the normal boot screen. If you boot the same image and choose try Ubuntu
from the advanced boot screen the live DE boots just fine. I've been
able to reproduce this behavior on two of three sets of hardware, but
not the third.

The two sets of hardware affected are:

AMD Sempron Processor LE-1250 @ 2.2 GHz
nVidia C61 [GeForce 7025 / nForce 630a] (rev a2)
nVidia MCP61 High Definition Audio (rev a2)
nVidia MCP61 Ethernet (rev a2)
2GB DDR2 RAM

Intel Motherboard: DB43LD
Intel Pentium Dual-Core CPU E5300 @ 2.60GHz
Intel Corporation 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
Intel Corporation 82801JD/DO (ICH10 Family) HD Audio Controller (rev 02)
00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82567LM-3 Gigabit Network
Connection (rev 02)
3GB DDR2 RAM

The set of hardware I've not been able to reproduce this on is:

Intel Atom CPU 230 @ 1.60GHz
Intel 82945G/GZ Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02)
Intel N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 01)
Realtek RTL8101E/RTL8102E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 02)
2GB DDR2 RAM

I'm attaching a picture of the actual screen after freezing - sorry it's
kind of blurry, but I'm shaky ATM.

[Bug 1489127] [NEW] plasma-pa should conflict kmix

2015-08-26 Thread Sandra Karuving
Public bug reported:

plasma-pa and kmix are volume managers. both do almost the same thing.
the big disadvantage is that kmix always starts with plasma and grabs the
keyboard input

so you multimedia buttons wont work as long as kmix runs. when you close
kmix, they still dont work. you have to make sure that kmix wont start
itself after login and relog. only when thers no kmix at startup,
volumebuttons will work on plasma-pa

so to fix this it would be good to conflict kmix in plasma-pa
