[Bug 1501189] [NEW] Don't put 127.0.0.1 in resolvconf when port=0
Public bug reported: The following function is defined in /etc/init.d/dnsmasq: start_resolvconf() { # If interface "lo" is explicitly disabled in /etc/default/dnsmasq # Then dnsmasq won't be providing local DNS, so don't add it to # the resolvconf server set. for interface in $DNSMASQ_EXCEPT do [ $interface = lo ] && return done if [ -x /sbin/resolvconf ] ; then echo "nameserver 127.0.0.1" | /sbin/resolvconf -a lo.$NAME fi return 0 } When someone puts port=0 in dnsmasq.conf, because e.g. he wants to use it only as a (proxy)DHCP/TFTP server, 127.0.0.1 is added to resolvconf, and DNS is broken because nothing listens there. One workaround is to put DNSMASQ_EXCEPT=lo in /etc/default/dnsmasq. But that doesn't make much sense, we don't want to exclude some interface, we're not running a DNS server at all. So it would be nice if dnsmasq checked if port=0 is defined in its configuration, and didn't add 127.0.0.1 to resolvconf then. Sample implementation code, to be inserted before `if [ -x /sbin/resolvconf ]`: grep -qr port=0 /etc/dnsmasq.d/ /etc/dnsmasq.conf && return ** Affects: dnsmasq (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1501189 Title: Don't put 127.0.0.1 in resolvconf when port=0 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/dnsmasq/+bug/1501189/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1500768] Re: python3.4.3 SRU break requests
Ok, let me clarify some points here. First, I pointed that change as it's the closest thing that changed in python 3.4.3 which can have an impact on SNI, it may be something different which broke requests. The invalid certificate tests is a test that is passing (this was to underline that I already had verfiy=true and checked that the SSL certificate check was done, as I was aware about the non check of it in python) So, what is broken? I think the target is the SNI support with older request 1. Setup - Install ubuntu-make from ubuntu-desktop/ubuntu-make ppa - Have a proxy (squid.internal) for instance, filtering your network - Export HTTPS_PROXY to point to your squid internal proxy 2. With python 3.4.0: - Run "umake android" -> android-studio resolve, show the license page and install 3. With python 3.4.3 (current 14.04): - Run "umake android" -> you will get the hostname 'squid.internal' doesn't match either of '*.google.com', '*.android.com', '*.appengine.google.com', '*.cloud.google.com', '*.google-analytics.com', '*.google.ca', <…>' message (content depending on the allowed site from your proxy). 4. With python 3.4.3 + requests 2.7 backported in my ppa (didrocks/ppa): - Run "umake android" -> android-studio resolve, show the license page and install As you can see, Ubuntu Make code didn't change at all in any of those tests, I think requests post 2.2.1 has something that made SNI work with python 3.4.3. As long as you have the right proxy config, I think this should simply fail: import requests requests.get('https://api.github.com/events') -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1500768 Title: python3.4.3 SRU break requests To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python3.4/+bug/1500768/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1501177] [NEW] Updating kernel with update-manager without password
Public bug reported: When using Software Updater (which I believe is software-manager) and *updating the kernel*, password is usually requested. However, there is a way to avoid it. This may be a security vulnerability. If kernel packages are due for an update and all the updates are performed at the same time, password is requested. On the other hand, if updates are performed in a specific order, password is not requested. How to reproduce it: 1. Update everything, except for the kernel related updates (please look at http://ibin.co/2HOn2ZCX580d ). 2. Next, deselect everything and update "Complete Generic Linux kernel and headers". Then, the only update left is "Linux Kernel Headers for development", which can be performed without password as well. I have seen this behaviour in two machines, for a long time now. [Bug 1499845] Re: Expose whether an app has a visible BottomEdge
The BottomEdge component is decided to be available per Page, that means that it will be available if the Page is active. Now there can be situations when more than one BottomEdge will be available at a time, and the logic described above does not deal with that. Also, the edge tutorial does not seem to take into account the convergence: I guess it won't render across the entire screen then, only above the window chrome :) For the phone case, I think shell should not even be involved, it's all about the app itself. Or maybe the only time the shell should be involved is when requesting a full screen view overlaying the app's surface. To be honest I do not see the reason to cover the indicator area, especially if we think the same logic should work on convergence, i.e window mode. So, my suggestions: 1) UITK will have the BottomEdge component 2) apps will know when the education view has to be launched and will do so per page, but a Tutorial framework (or component) should be provided, preferably by the shell 3) the Tutorial component will follow the position if the BottomEdge -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1499845 Title: Expose whether an app has a visible BottomEdge To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubuntu-ui-toolkit/+bug/1499845/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

(LP: #1499906) * d/p/0001-wwan-add-support-for-using-oFono-as-a-modem-manager.patch: cleanup ip_string_to_network_address() to work as its NMModemBroadband version, and start setting NM_MODEM_IP4_METHOD to _STATIC so IP, prefix, gateway and DNS get properly applied on an oFono modem as it comes up. * debian/NetworkManager.conf: re-enable the ofono plugin (fixes a regression). * debian/patches/add_ofono_settings_support.patch: don't link against libnm-glib as this would cause type duplication and crashes. (LP: #1499904) * debian/patches/lp1496434_warn_on_invalid_new_link.patch: don't outright crash by dereferencing a NULL pointer if a device can't get created by its NMDeviceFactory; we should warn though, as we want to know about these failures; but no need to make all of NM sad. (LP: #1496434) [ Tony Espy ] * d/p/0002-wifi-cull-the-scan-list-before-signalling-ScanDone-b.patch: Fix duplicate 'LastSeen' PropertiesChanged signals being generated after every scan. The 'Last-Seen' property is now only updated when a scan finishes, and schedule_scanlist_cull is no longer triggered new_bss_cb or updated_bss_cb. (LP: #1480877) * d/p/add_ofono_settings_support.patch: Fix memory leaks in plugin. * d/p/add_ofono_settings_support.patch: Remove unused plugin DBus code. * d/p/CVE-2015-1322.patch: Drop CVE which applied to removed DBus code in ofono settings plugin. -- Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre Sat, 26 Sep 2015 00:02:02 -0400 ** Changed in: network-manager (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress => Fix Released ** CVE added: http://www.cve.mitre.org/cgi- bin/cvename.cgi?name=2015-1322 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1499906 Title: NM crashes when restarted on arale To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/1499906/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: php5-mysqlnd is a drop in replacement for the php5-mysql client library. It has also been the upstream default mysql client since 5.4. [Bug 1350782] Re: Upstart does not reopen /var/log/upstart/* logfiles upon log rotation
I'm seeing basically the same symptom: /etc/logrotate.d/upstart contains "compress" without "delaycompress", which means that logrotate attempts to compress /var/log/upstart/*.log while Upstart is still writing to those files. The result is "gzip: stdin: file size changed while zipping". I believe that at least PART of the appropriate solution is to add "delaycompress" and/or "copytruncate" to /etc/logrotate.d/upstart; however, logrotate might also need to notify Upstart that the file has moved via SIGHUP or some such. I'm using Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS. I do not see the same bug on Ubuntu 12.04.5 LTS; however, I also do not see /lib/systemd/systemd-logind in the output of "ps aux", and I believe that's the particular Upstart service which is trying to log during the gzip. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1350782 Title: Upstart does not reopen /var/log/upstart/* logfiles upon log rotation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/upstart/+bug/1350782/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
