2015-10-08 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue you are reporting is an upstream one and it
would be nice if somebody having it could send the bug to the developers
of the software by following the instructions at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. If you have done so, please
tell us the number of the upstream bug (or the link), so we can add a
bugwatch that will inform us about its status. Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1438003] Re: (1) Creating object for path '/org/freedesktop/NetworkManager/ActiveConnection/0' failed in libnm-glib.

2015-10-08 Thread Daan Wilmer
I have the same problem that Krupier (krupier123) has: connection dies
unexpectedly, and I am unable to reconnect using the Network Manager.
Restarting through `service network-manager restart` brings the system
down on its knees, until I stop the service.

However, I found a workaround: when I suspend my laptop and wake it up
again, the connection is up again.

[Bug 1504127] [NEW] grep -q gets broken pipe message with multiple expressions

2015-10-08 Thread bugproxy
Public bug reported:

== Comment: #0 - Liang Chang Guo  - 2015-10-06 20:43:30 ==
For testing if a system is Ubuntu, the following combined command with bash
always gets extra BrokenPipeError on Ubuntu (14.04 to 15.10):

# ( cat /etc/os-release /proc/version; lsb_release -is ) | grep -iq Ubuntu
Exception ignored in: <_io.TextIOWrapper name='' mode='w'
encoding='UTF-8'>
BrokenPipeError: [Errno 32] Broken pipe

While the return code is correct:
# ( cat /etc/os-release /proc/version; lsb_release -is ) | grep -iq Ubuntu &&
echo It-is-Ubuntu
Exception ignored in: <_io.TextIOWrapper name='' mode='w'
encoding='UTF-8'>
BrokenPipeError: [Errno 32] Broken pipe
It-is-Ubuntu

It may work well if with slight changes for the command:
# ( cat /etc/os-release /proc/version; lsb_release -is ) | grep -i Ubuntu
NAME="Ubuntu"
... ...
# ( cat /etc/os-release /proc/version; lsb_release -is ) | grep -iq UbuntuW
# ( cat /etc/os-release /proc/version; sleep 1; echo =; lsb_release -is ) |

[Bug 1504167] Re: systemd-journald crashed with SIGABRT in __epoll_wait_nocancel()

2015-10-08 Thread Martin Pitt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1433320 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1433320

Right, there's no sign of the watchdog message in the journal (unless
you reported the bug after rebooting the VM). In this case I'm out of
ideas... We can't detect the situation in apport, and it's not a systemd
bug either as these are merely consequences of the long kernel hangs,
not the causes.

Upstream bumped the watchdog timeouts from 1 min to 3 mins which should
make these situations at lot less likely, but ultimately this is just
patching up symptoms..

** Summary changed:

- systemd-journald crashed with SIGABRT in __epoll_wait_nocancel()
+ systemd-journald, udev, logind crashed with SIGABRT -- get killed by 1 min
watchdog timeout on longer kernel lockups

[Bug 1448690] Re: /sbin/dhclient-script has bashisms

2015-10-08 Thread Thomas Ward
Note that because of the Bashisms whatever address was negotiated is not
assigned. This applies at least to IPv6, and if the bashisms interfere
in IPv4 then it also interferes there.

This means the essential function of the application does not operate,
and the bug should potentially be a higher severity level. (I'm setting
to High because it "renders essential features or functionality of the
application or dependencies broken or ineffective" - which is defined as
a "High" criterion in the Bug Importance page of the bugsquad
documentation)

[Bug 1071345] Re: empathy contacts list compact mode is missing in 3.6

2015-10-08 Thread Valentin Lab
@PeterBittner Do you really think I should provide a one line fix as a
patch here ? And this is problematic because what should be kept is the
option to choose the size via settings. My fix customize the source code

for everyone exactly as 48px is not.

[Bug 1502570] Re: gnome-panel indirectly installs evolution

2015-10-08 Thread Alkis Georgopoulos
Because then we would lose all the other recommended packages:
http://packages.ubuntu.com/wily/gnome-panel

alacarteeasy GNOME menu editing tool
evolution-data-serverevolution database backend server
gnome-appletsVarious applets for the GNOME panel - binary files
gnome-session-flashback (>= 3.14.0)GNOME Session Manager - GNOME Flashback
session
gvfsuserspace virtual filesystem - GIO module
indicator-applet-completeClone of the GNOME panel indicator applet
unity-control-centerutilities to configure the GNOME desktop

Listing those one-by-one in the `apt-get install` line of our installer
script is possible but it makes the code too much ubuntu-version
specific.

And of course other users installing gnome-panel (notably LTSP users) running
the `apt-get install` manually wouldn't be aware of this bug in order to read
it and run it with --no-install-recommends.

[Bug 1032276] Re: [nvidia] Graphics freeze when I close or minimize a window

2015-10-08 Thread hamza alloush
Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS

it happens if i disable Desktop Item like so:

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons false

i have an updated system, my specs are Acer 4830tg laptop with discrete
Nvidia Optimus technology, but the bug happens when i'm using integrated
graphics as well.

each time i minimize or close a window it freezes, maybe i can come up
with a more comprehensize bug report? but how do i debug the segfault of
Nautilus?

btw, it got fixed when i re-enabled Desktop icons: gsettings set
org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons true

I think Arty's comment has some merit.

[Bug 1504154] Re: OVS with GRE tunnels no longer works

2015-10-08 Thread Piotr Misiak
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

  I have OpenStack environment with OVS with GRE tunnels between Compute
  nodes.

  All nodes OpenStack nodes have:
  Description:  Ubuntu 14.04.2 LTS
  Release:  14.04

  After upgrading kernel from 3.13.0-45 to 3.13.0-46 on one Compute node
OpenStack networking on this node no longer works.
  It also does not work on any newer version up to 3.13.0-65.

  Everything looks OK, bridges and ports are configured in OVS, but there
  is no communication - VMs can't receive network configuration from DHCP
  agent running on another server.

  The same is with 3.16 kernel:

  Last working version is 3.16.0-30.
  With version 3.16.0-31and newer up to 3.16.0-50 network communication does
not work.

  I analyzed changes included in 3.13.0-46 and 3.16.0-31 and both have the same
change regarding GRE:
  * gre: fix the inner mac header in nbma tunnel xmit path

  Maybe this is the reason?

[Bug 1504167] Possible regression detected

2015-10-08 Thread Apport retracing service
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1433320 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1433320

This crash has the same stack trace characteristics as bug #1433320.
However, the latter was already fixed in an earlier package version than
the one in this report. This might be a regression or because the
problem is in a dependent package.

[Bug 1504186] [NEW] virtualbox interferes with shutdown, restart or logout

2015-10-08 Thread flocculant
Public bug reported:

With a vm running in virtualbox.

Trying to either shutdown,restart or logout the machine halts, vbox
close machine dialogue opens.

Locking screen works.

Need to reopen the shutdown dialogue after vbox has been dealt with.

At least one other application had closed during the failed
shutdown/restart. (Notably one on the same workspace as vbox, leaving
one open and vbox asking for decision)

[Bug 1504189] [NEW] ActionSelectionPopover's CPO click_action_button fails if we destroy the popover as result of an action

2015-10-08 Thread Ugo Riboni
Public bug reported:

When using the click_action_button of the Custom Proxy Object for
ActionSelectionPopover in an autopilot test, we get an exception in case
the action that gets clicked has the result of destroying the popover.

The bug is caused by the fact that, once the action item has been clicked, the
CPO method tries to access the autoClose property of the popover. However at
this point the popover might have been already destroyed, causing an exception.
A simple fix is to cache the value just before the click and refer to the value
after, as autoClose is unlikely to change as a result of the click.

For a real life example of this problem, imagine a ListView we pop up a
menu with an action that allows the user to delete the delegate pointed
at by the popup. This is very common case. The example below is the
simplest version of a test case that implements this. You can easily
create an AP test from this that reproduces the issue:

import QtQuick 2.4
import Ubuntu.Components 1.3
import Ubuntu.Components.Popups 1.3

ListView {
id: list
width: 800
height: 600

model: ["A", "B", "C"]
delegate: ListItem {
Button {
id: button
text: modelData
onTriggered: PopupUtils.open(popupComponent, button, {i: index})
}
}

Component {
id: popupComponent
ActionSelectionPopover {
id: popup
property int i
actions: ActionList {
Action {
text: "Delete"
onTriggered: {
var m = list.model
m.splice(popup.i, 1)
list.model = m
}
}
}
}
}
}

[Bug 1504168] [NEW] fix handling of mx4 touch screen

2015-10-08 Thread Andreas Pokorny
Public bug reported:

The mx4 touch screen sends a BTN_TOOL_FINGER key event during the touch
down and up.. This interferes with position tracking inside libinput and
leads to invalid positions being reported and in some cases jumping of
the position just before the release of a touch contact.

There is a fix posted at the libinput mailinglist, but those have not
been applied yet. (Peter is on vacation).

Latest update of the touch screen patches (these will compensate the initial
jumping of touch contacts , but not fix the mx4 issue)
http://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/wayland-devel/2015-September/024168.html
The last step, the actual mx4 fix:

[Bug 1502570] Re: gnome-panel indirectly installs evolution

Would it be at all possible to have this in Wily?
We're thinking of installing 15.10 in some schools here instead of 14.04, and
it would make things a bit easier for us.

Thank you very much in any case.

[Bug 1503961] Re: Ubuntu freezes after upgrade when logging in

2015-10-08 Thread p1357
** Description changed:

  I have just made a regular upgrade on my ubuntu vivid machine. After
  doing so the system freezes after login. I tried different accounts and
  different window managers (xmonad and gnome fallback), but it freezes
  every time a few seconds after login.

  Because of the freeze I cannot report this bug using ubuntu-bug. So tell
  me what files you need for debugging this (I have ssh command line
  access to the frozen machine).

  It might be relevant that the mouse pointer changes from a white one to
  a smaller black one when it freezes.

  After freezing I cannot switch to console via Ctrl+Alt+F1.
+
+ I tried to narrow it down by switching to the previous kernel
+
+ 3.19.0-30 works
+ 3.19.0-31 freezes
+
+ Then I diffed the output of dmesg with and without freeze. The relevant

[Bug 1053408] Re: libvirt always runs DNS server (dnsmasq) on networks

2015-10-08 Thread Stefan Bader
Hi Scott, I am trying to get back to this to see whether this needs some
resolution (still). I am wondering, what exactly is your worry here? I
was experimenting with net definition in Wily and yes, even without any
DNS statements dnsmasq is started. But as far as I can tell only in a
caching mode. That possibly is not useful in a simple manner (as there
is no DHCP set up locally to provide any info about the DNS caching
service) but it should not do harm either. Or miss I something?

[Bug 1393612] Re: Protect against BadUSB device

2015-10-08 Thread asgard2
I am worried about this too, because there is no protection.
Could imagine that when inserting a new stick or a keyboard only a short query
with the device type needs to be confirmed. This request can be omitted by
known devices.
This is maybe annoying, but safety first!
