Just an FYI to anyone who comes across this, I've located the exact call that depends on numpy. It is line 327 of spectlib/notifier.py for row in icon.get_pixels_array(): You can duplicate the segmentation fault by running the following: import gtk icon = gtk.icon_theme_get_default().load_icon('dialog-information', 64,0) print(icon.get_pixels_array()) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/354909 Title: python 2.6 support - jaunty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pygtk/+bug/354909/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1516345] [NEW] Invalid characters in file name
Public bug reported: Step 1 : I got file names with invalid encoding (mainly from an Old Mac) In nautilus, it is displayed as Ch 03 _ judo-christianisme.DOC (codage non valide) But an ls command displays : Ch 03 _ jud?o-christianisme.DOC (Without the "codage non valide" mention) Step 2 : In Nautilus, I renamed the file just by correcting the invalid character : The result is : Ch 03 _ judéo-christianisme.DOC (codage non valide) And the ls command issues : Ch 03 _ judéo-christianisme.DOC (codage non valide) So I had originally an invalid file without any mention of it in command line, and I end with a correctly encoded filename with the mention "codage non valide" I wish a more consistent behaviour by not writing back the string " (codage non valide)" to the file name after correction, or by writing the string " (codage non valide)" to the file name on detection of the invalid coding. [Bug 1516216] Re: X fails to start, starting with kernel version 3.13.0-66 including 3.13.0-68
The work-around I mentioned above (booting recovery + continue) does not seem to work reliably. It just took me half an hour to have a successful boot, to provide the apport-collect. A few more observations: - For some reason my xorg.conf had been renamed to xorg.conf.11142015, without any xorg.conf in place. Apparently this must have happened yesterday, when my previous work around stopped working. I had the successful boot after renaming it back, but right now I don't dare to try out if this works systematically. - Using kernel version 3.13.0-63 and earlier, X starts successfully and I end up with the default display manager. However, trying to log in results in an infinite loop of restarting the display manager. Furthermore, there seems to be a graphics issue: Even though the resolution seems to be standard 1080p, the image does not fill the entire screen area and sometimes the output is totally broken (very large stretch vertically, i.e., streching about 100 pixels over the entire screen plus strange color artifacts) ** Package changed: linux (Ubuntu) => ubuntu ** Changed in: ubuntu Status: Incomplete => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1516216 Title: X fails to start, starting with kernel version 3.13.0-66 including 3.13.0-68 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1516216/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1512811] Re: 15.10 32 bit download gives error when run from usb
I just did another experiment. There is something illogical about using this machine with 12GB to make a 32 bit stick, so I tried using Startup disk creator on a laptop with 32 bit Ubuntu. This one I updated using a DVD with 15.10 32 bit. Exactly the same problem comes up: from a power off a boot from the physical usb stick gives a boot error. So it isn't this particular machine has a problem making the stick. Even a machine with 2GB and a 32 bit system has the same problem. I am very surprised that you can't duplicate it on your machine. Now I will try dd, which I have never used. We need to nail down if the problem is in the iso or in the program which writes it to the stick. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1512811 Title: 15.10 32 bit download gives error when run from usb To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1512811/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1516216] Re: X fails to start, starting with kernel version 3.13.0-66 including 3.13.0-68
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected trusty ** Description changed: System: Ubuntu 14.04 Graphics Card: Geforce GTX 670 Graphics Driver: nvidia-352.55 Starting with kernel 3.13.0-66, the start of X / default display manager results in a black screen. My observations are: - When I get this black screen, I cannot CTRL+ALT+F1 into a text console - Pressing the power button in this state leads to a proper shutdown (which I guess means that it is not a complete kernel panic). - When using these latest kernel, the graphics behavior during boot-up also has changed. Instead of a graphical animation, the system boots in text mode (I can see the syslog output), and at the moment I should get the display manager, the screen goes black. My work-around so far has been to boot kernel 3.13.0-65 instead of 3.13.0-66, 3.13.0-67, or 3.13.0-68. So far this has worked reliably. However today, booting kernel 3.13.0-65 has resulted in a black screen as well. Fortunately, I found a new work-around: I can boot kernel 3.13.0-68 in recovery mode, and chose simply "continue" in the recovery console. With this modification of the boot process, X will start. In the syslog, I can see some suspicious messages, around the time X should start: "BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at (null)". I have attached a syslog contain some failed starts as well as a successful one. - Another suspicion is that the problem is related having an Oculus Rift - DK2 connected. In particular, this requires to use a custom Xorg.conf - which runs individual X screens for the main display and the Oculus - Rift. + Another suspicion is that the problem is related having an Oculus Rift DK2 connected. [Bug 1516323] Re: With compositing off some apps have a huge black border
Do you see this problem when you turn off compositing manager and restart program? All your mentioned programs are CSD windows and I think GTK+ does not support toggling compositing mode - you need to restart program. If you have same problem after restarting application then problem might be in theme you use. For example it might miss .solid-csd styling that is used when application is used without compositing manager. In short this is not metacity bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1516323 Title: With compositing off some apps have a huge black border To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/metacity/+bug/1516323/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1516339] [NEW] Blue Yeti mic works in Alsa & Pulse Config but No Input/Output device
Public bug reported: Hi there, I have a Blue Yeti USB microphone, which has worked without any configuration, just plug and play in every version of Ubuntu since I bought it. I recently just did a fresh install of 15.10, and am getting strange behaviour. Specifically, it works fine in ALSA, and I can even record in Audacity using it. It shows fine in Alsamixer. In Pavucontrol it shows under Configuration, but in any sound mixer relying on Pulse (Unity sound menu, Kmix, Pavucontrol etc) it doesn't show either as an input or output device as it always has before. It's not that it's muted. It just doesn't show as a device at all (other than in ALSA and Pavucontrol > Configure). There are no relevant errors in dmesg, in fact here's what it shows when I unplug and replug it in: [40541.169075] usb 6-3: USB disconnect, device number 36 [40543.697269] usb 6-3: new full-speed USB device number 37 using ohci-pci [40543.873268] usb 6-3: New USB device found, idVendor=b58e, idProduct=9e84 [40543.873276] usb 6-3: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=0 [40543.873281] usb 6-3: Product: Yeti Stereo Microphone [40543.873285] usb 6-3: Manufacturer: Blue Microphones Not sure how to hunt this bug down further without some kind of error message. [Bug 1516263] Re: Texts are not rendering properly in 15.10 which causes xorg to restart
Pavak Paul, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. To see if this is already resolved in Ubuntu, could you please test http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ and advise to the results? ** Description changed: - My graphics card is Nvidia GTX 750 1 GB DDR5. When ran Ubuntu 15.10 from Live session i found the texts are not showing correctly. Some letters are not showing at all, some very white or bold. sometimes hovering on them shows the original text, sometimes blinking. This often restarts xorg. I did manage to install it in my system once, but then after installation wheneverI try to log in xorg restarts. I installed nvidia proprietary drivers from tty1 session and after the reboot the driver was loaded and everything worked properly. I think it is happening because of the open source driver. I'm submitting the bug from live session without installing nvidia drivers so that the proper information of the system is submitted. - Sorry for any mistakes in my writing, half of the time the texts are disappearing. + When I ran Ubuntu 15.10 from Live session I found some letters are not + showing at all, some very white or bold. [Bug 1516329] [NEW] DNS BUG delay resolution of LAN DNS
Public bug reported: I have a little LAN (3 computers) where each computer uses UBUNTU 14.04 LTS. The LAN has a server that assigns the IP address by MAC ADDRESS and provides DNS resolution for local computers. The BUG is for each computer of the network (I have not tested the server that is and ODROID and has not monitor and keyboard). For example a computer is called "core". If I try to connect to "core I got the following message: ssh -X core ssh: Could not resolve hostname core: Name or service not known and if I try lookup command I got User:marco Computer:i7 Base:marco Current:/media/data/users/home/marco Command 1003 of 14 $nslookup gaia Server: 127.0.1.1 Address:127.0.1.1#53 ** server can't find core: NXDOMAIN After a random time (it can be few seconds or some minutes) the address is resolved $nslookup gaia Server: 127.0.1.1 Address:127.0.1.1#53 Name: gaia.lab Address: 10.10.100.11 and after the first resolution the address are resolved for all the computers of the LAN. I have not problems to resolve the address outside the LAN. the reverse address is decoded: nslookup 10.10.100.11 Server: 127.0.1.1 Address:127.0.1.1#53 11.100.10.10.in-addr.arpa name = gaia.lab. [Bug 1512323] Re: devices on devel-proposed/ubuntu do not boot with systemd 227-2ubuntu1
Investigation shows that the test case is triggering kernel fix-ups for unaligned access, as shown by the incrementing counters in /proc/cpu/alignment on cady. I'm investigating to see if the phone kernels have a different default behavior for alignments (SIGBUS vs. fixup). So I have a valid test case, it just unfortunately won't block the build with a test failure on our buildds because the kernel is fixing up the unaligned access for us. On other architectures we could build-depend on and use prctl to force SIGBUS to be raised, but ARM doesn't support prctl --unaligned. I have also verified that booting the emulator shows /proc/cpu/alignment configured for signal (4) instead of fixup (2). This despite the fact that CONFIG_ALIGNMENT_TRAP=y is part of the common configuration for Ubuntu ARM kernels (config/config.common.ubuntu), and is definitely configured that way at build and runtime in the linux-goldfish package in the archive. That means that *something* in the phone stack is changing the value of /proc/cpu/alignment post-boot. But I don't know what this "something" is; there are no matches for /proc/cpu/alignment in /etc on the generic image, nor in /android. Google points at it possibly being an android- inflicted problem. (https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/android- kernel/5vl47DgDz7E) Now, raising signals on unaligned access is a sensible default behavior. But we currently have this exactly backwards, because we are fixing up those unaligned accesses on our build and test infrastructure but have them causing software failures in production! Someone from the phone team should investigate where this wrong setting is coming from and fix it. ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Assignee: Martin Pitt (pitti) => Steve Langasek (vorlon) ** Changed in: systemd (Ubuntu) Status: In Progress => Fix Committed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1512323 Title: devices on devel-proposed/ubuntu do not boot with systemd 227-2ubuntu1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1512323/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
