[Bug 1275042]

2016-01-09 Thread Jockel
Actually i had already e-mailed Roland Scheideregger privately (thanking
him for still giving some care to this ancient driver with BE systems
although the commit didn't fix the problems :-).

I already tracked down the breakage that affects me to the (otherwise
very sensible) pythonization of the format stuff around commit
d4c780e052c9cc361bed5958b72b42d8151800c2 :

mesa: Add python to parse the formats CSV file
The basic concept for the format parser was taken from the format CSV
parser in gallium/auxilliary/util. However, this one has been altered in a
number of ways:

 * Removed big endian vs. little endian stuff (mesa doesn't need it)
 * Better documentation: Almost every method has a full docstring
 * An actual Swizzle class with methods for composition and inverses
 * Over-all cleaner (in my opinion) implementation and class interactions
 * A few bug fixes

A, the joys of optimized code-reuse :-)

Since i'm no pythonista i didn't want to wade into it and still use the
10.3 stuff. But maybe that's a hint for the r600g driver and this bug
report.

The report in question is (was?) about the gallium radeon driver -
r600g.

On the classic radeon/r200 front there was a regression caused by commit
779cabfc7d022de8b7b9bc7fdac0caffa8646c51 (which itself fixing some BE
issues, circa 11.0), which was resolved in 11.0.6 and 11.1.0. If things
are still off, then I'd suggest opening separate bug report and if
possible bisecting it down.

[Bug 1275042]

2016-01-09 Thread Jockel
Allow me to add my experiences.

Whether the colors are garbled on PPC depends on the GL color format
used (among probably a gazillion other parameters :-). Packed (16-bit)
formats have been broken on big-endian for some time, they worked fine
in mesa 10.1, in mesa 10.3 R5G5B5A1 works, R4G4B4A4 works with alpha
glitches, somewhere in the 10.3 release cycle the format stuff got
completely rewritten breaking pretty much all packed formats on big-
endian (PPC).

Unpacked (32 bits) formats seem to be working fine.

That's on a RV280 32 bit system. No idea whether that is also valid for
NV34 on 64-bit PPC, i.e. whether the problem is in core mesa or the
radeon stuff.

[Bug 1532520] [NEW] The default route table has one wrong entry

2016-01-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The wrong entry is:
192.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.0.0.0 U 1 00 eth1
Which caused the VM can't access the external internet website of C-Class IPs.

Here are the details:
I installed the liberty of openstack and the launched VM instance on the
compute node can access all the external internet websites except the C-Class
IPs.
The commands output in the launched VM:

[root@vm3 ~]# wget http://www.sina.com.cn
--2016-01-09 13:20:06-- http://www.sina.com.cn/
Resolving www.sina.com.cn... 202.108.33.60
Connecting to www.sina.com.cn|202.108.33.60|:80... failed: No route to host.
However, both A-CLass and B-Class external IP can be accessed successfully:
[root@vm3 ~]# wget http://www.163.com
--2016-01-09 13:27:02-- http://www.163.com/

The VM's interfaces are:

0.0.0.0 192.168.0.1 0.0.0.0 UG0 00 eth1

The VM is launched with the created public network option.
The public network is 192.168.0.0/24 and private is 10.0.0.0/24.
controller: 192.168.0.12/10.0.0.11
compute: 192.168.0.10/10.0.0.31

After 1 week's struggling and I found if I add the route for 202.108.33.60
explicitly, wget can work:
route add 202.108.33.60 gw 192.168.0.1
[root@vm3 ~]# route -n
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric RefUse
Iface
202.108.33.60 192.168.0.1 255.255.255.255 UGH 0 00 eth1
169.254.169.254 192.168.0.200 255.255.255.255 UGH 0 00 eth1
192.168.122.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 0 00
virbr0
192.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.0.0.0 U 1 00 eth1
0.0.0.0 192.168.0.1 0.0.0.0 UG0 00 eth1

So I guess the problem should be related with the route table and eventually I
found the entry "192.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.0.0.0 U 1 0
0 eth1" is wrong because it will filter all the C-Class IPs as the
LAN(neighbor network) and occasionally www.sina.com.cn is such
host.
After I changed it to be "192.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 255.0.0.0 U
1 00 eth1", the www.sina.com.cn can be accessed.
This bug also exists in CentOS image and I think it should also exist in the
other OS images.

[Bug 1532519] [NEW] Language support installed because of keyboard choice but not checked in installed languages

2016-01-09 Thread Usama Akkad
Public bug reported:

When I was installing Ubuntu Xenial 16.04 I chose English as my
installation language and Turkish keyboard was selected and time zone to
Istanbul

When I open language selector I see Turkish is in the list of "language
for menus and windows:" and language selector suggest installing some
Turkish language support packages like language-pack-tr

However, I do not see Turkish selected in "Installed Languages" window
which I open by clicking "Install/remove languages" button in the main
window.

The problem:
Language support partly installed without me asking for and it's not showing in
"Installed Languages" so I can not remove it.

I think this issue might happen with many other languages. For example
If you chose a French keyboard during an English language installation I
could have this installed but not showing situation.

What I expected:
Just English language support installed.

What happened:
Turkish language support partially installed and not being able to remove it
easily

I brought the issue to #ubuntu+1 channel on freenode and it was suggested that
I open a bug

[Bug 1291969] Re: No usb on resume from suspend

2016-01-09 Thread rbhkamal
I was surprised that actually disabling the screen lock fixes the
problem, but it does. I bought a laptop from system76 it came preloaded
with 15.10 64bit. Sometimes after resume, the mouse and keyboard would
not be usable. Sometimes that happens on a fresh power up.

I noticed that sometimes it also fails to enter suspend, could be root
cause of why USB stops working after the machine is resumed. See
attached for USB errors.

[Bug 1532513] [NEW] kswapd 100% CPU usage and running out of memory without swap being used

2016-01-09 Thread Øystein Gisnås
Public bug reported:

This bug closely resembles bug 1518457 and others, but is reported
separately as the affected kernel versions do not match, see comments
#45, #43 and #8 on 1518457.

The issue first occured on a production workload (JIRA running on
Tomcat) on an EC2 t2.small instance after upgrading to 15.10. The issue
happens when running out of memory, typicall during busy hours or when
nightly Python backup script runs. To reproduce the issue, I use
t2.micro (1GiB RAM) because the problem then arises just by starting the
JIRA application. I do not see the problem on 14.04 or 15.05 on the same
server.

Symptoms: kswapd0 falls into a busy loop and spins on 100% CPU usage and
swap not being used/barely being used. The system can be recovered with
`echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches`, but with high traffic/little free
memory, the problem returns immediately.

Swappiness has not been changed (vm.swappiness = 60). I can reproduce
this consitently on Ubuntu AMIs (https://cloud-
images.ubuntu.com/locator/ec2/). I've used AMI ami-c4140aa8 (eu-
central-1). I can provide SSH access to a machine on request and have
public Puppet scripts to configure a new server.

I've attached scripts and logs from an up to date 15.10 and 15.04
instance to compare results with and without the bug. Note that the CPU
numbers in the vmstat output doesn't specify which process, but top has
showed that the majority of user time is the java process and the
majority of system time is the kswapd0 process.

[Bug 1532511] [NEW] Applications in workspace on primary monitor travel through secondary monitors when "Workspaces only on primary display" is set to true.

2016-01-09 Thread Charles Ray Shisler III
Public bug reported:

I have two monitors that are both physically and through config stacked
on top of each other. The bottom one is set as the primary. When I
switch between workspaces, the applications can be seen moving through
the secondary monitor on top. I would expect them to stay confined to
one screen. An example can be seen in the youtube below.
