[Bug 1501015] Re: ISST-LTE: Multipath disk is not automatically set as 1st boot device after installation

2016-01-12 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Of course. I had added a task for trusty just in case because I saw it
could theoretically happen on 14.04; although it was unclear whether it
actually did. I suppose the new multipath-tools might not help in this
regard.

Setting to In Progress, thanks for the debdiff!

Public bug reported:

== Comment: #0 - Chanh H. Nguyen  - 2015-12-14 16:48:03 ==
We install Ubuntu 14.04.4 version. Everything seems to be fine during install,
then system reboot for post install, but it does not see the bootable disk.
Then we have to stop at SMS menu, scan for all the disk, select a disk to boot
and system can boot up normal.

After system boot up fine, I try to do re-install again on the same
disk. It hits the same issue meaning we have to stop at SMS menu to
select the boot disk after install.

Hi Chang,

Can you please test the package in [1] at the end of the installation?
This should make the disk bootable for SMS.

If it's OK, we'll ask for patch inclusion into 14.04.4. Thanks!

Steps:

1) At the installation finished/complete dialog, select Go back

2) Select Execute a shell

3) Download the package to the installed system's files (/target):

~ # wget 'http://ausgsa.ibm.com/~mauricfo/public/bugs/bz134065/v0
/powerpc-ibm-utils_1.2.26-1~14.04.1mpathmappings_ppc64el.deb' -O
/target/tmp/pkg.deb

4) Install it there (notice the chroot):
~ # chroot /target dpkg -i /tmp/pkg.deb

5) Find the grub-install command line used in the installation:
~ # grep grub-install /var/log/syslog
note: it's something like chroot /target grub-install --force
"/dev/mapper/mpath<

[Bug 1501015] Re: ISST-LTE: Multipath disk is not automatically set as 1st boot device after installation

2016-01-12 Thread Mauricio Faria de Oliveira
Hi @mathieu-tl,

> Does this bug also happen at all on 14.04?

Yes.
The test teams hit this recently, and the patch has been verified to fix the
issue in 14.04.x too.
The LTC bugzilla is in the process of being mirrored, once it's done I'll mark
it as a duplicate of this one.

I'll attach the debdiff used (just yours modified to apply on trusty).

Can you please apply it for 14.04.4?

Thanks!

[Bug 1533323] [NEW] Linux kernel holds lost ethernet connections

probably need to tool around with /etc/default/grub and see if one of
those configs will work, but would be nice if one didn't have to go

initially with default driver it looks like this

appeared as plain text in the top left corner of the screen and did absolutely

[Bug 1533319] [NEW] Sync ace-of-penguins 1.5~rc1-1 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

2016-01-12 Thread Esa Peuha
Public bug reported:

Please sync ace-of-penguins 1.5~rc1-1 (universe) from Debian unstable
(main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
As far as I can tell, there is nothing in 1.4-0ubuntu2 that would be
worth merging; all the patches have been applied upstream.

Changelog entries since current xenial version 1.4-0ubuntu2:

ace-of-penguins (1.5~rc1-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New maintainer: Debian Games Team. (Closes: #809995)
  * Add myself to Uploaders.
  * Imported Upstream version 1.5~rc1. (Closes: #808340)
Thanks to Esa Peuha for the report.
- Fixes conflicting declarations of struct image_list. (Closes: #749630)
- Fixes FTBFS with libpng16. (Closes: #809878)
  * wrap-and-sort -sa.
  * Declare compliance with Debian Policy 3.9.6.
  * Switch Vcs-* fields to pkg-games.
  * Remove NEWS.Debian. It is obsolete now.
  * Remove Pre-Depends multiarch-support.
It is not required for Stretch anymore. This also fixes Lintian error
pre-depends-directly-on-multiarch-support.
  * Remove ${misc:PreDepends} dependency.
  * Make the build reproducible by using the last changelog date as a timestamp
for the manpage. Thanks to Reiner Herrmann for the report and patch.
(Closes: #782316)
  * Drop libxpm-dev from Build-Depend because it is no longer needed.
Thanks to Esa Peuha for the hint.
  * Drop all patches. Applied upstream.
  * Update homepage field and point to delorie.com.
  * desktop files: Update keywords and do not use absolute paths for Exec
commands.
  * Move all desktop files to debian/desktop subdirectory.
  * Replace penguin-pegged.png icon with upstream's ace.png icon.
  * Provide a new menu icon. (Closes: #737787)
  * Drop README.source.

[Bug 1533317] [NEW] Address bar does not get focus when adding a new tab

2016-01-12 Thread Kugi Eusebio
Public bug reported:

Expected Result:
When adding a new tab via the button or Ctrl + T, the address bar is
automatically focused so that users can immediately type the URL.

Current Result:
When opening a new tab, the new tab page is shown with bookmarks and top sites
but the user can't type immediately the URL they want to go to.

This might be more appropriate in windowed mode since most likely a physical
keyboard exists thus making it easier for the users to input the URL when
adding a new tab. In staged mode, focusing the address bar will show the OSK
which might not be desirable if the user wants to select from the bookmarks or
top sites instead of inputting its own URL.

Ok, with parentheses it's ok.
I don't know that about the C, but it's a strange definition because:
(1 + 2) == 3 is same as 1 + 2 == 3
and
(3 ^ 1) == 2 is not the same as 3 ^ 1 == 2

Ah. So if it's never set on the lowerdir that does remove much of the
concern.

That makes more sense. And that's the part that concerns me the most

Yeah, that's something I'm just not sure about. It seems like by
allowing the unprivileged user to mount in the first place we're
implicitly saying that it's okay to write these xattrs to the underlying
fs based on checks which happen at mount time. I don't know what checks
are actually done at mount time though; unless we've augmented them they
may be minimal based on the assumption that only CAP_SYS_ADMIN can
mount.

The package is already on Debina mentors waiting for a sponsor.

Could Canonical help us on this topic? I see two ways Canonical can
help:

a) Sponsoring the package into Debian and syncing it on Ubuntu
b) Importing the package into Ubuntu directly.

Thank you,

[Bug 1533304] [NEW] Kernel Bug: IPv6 Neighbor Discovery

2016-01-12 Thread Joseph Ishac
Public bug reported:

We have discovered what appears to be a bug with the handling of ICMP6
router solicitations on tun interfaces in the Linux kernel. In
particular, if an application is not immediately bound to the tun
interface, router solicitations are never sent out of the interface.
This issue can be replicated easily using the attached scripts.

First, a tun interface is created with permissions for the local user,
sudo is used so the script will prompt for the user password.

$ bash rftun0_create.sh
rftun0 created
16: rftun0: mtu 1500 qdisc noop state DOWN group
default qlen 500
link/none

Then the interface is configured, given an address, and brought "up"
however since there is no application bound to the interface yet there
is no carrier.

$ bash rftun0_up.sh
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.forwarding = 0
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.accept_ra = 1
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.autoconf = 1
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.accept_ra_rt_info_max_plen = 128
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.accept_ra_rtr_pref = 1
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.router_solicitation_delay = 1
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.router_solicitation_interval = 2
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.router_solicitations = 200
rftun0 up
16: rftun0:  mtu 1400 qdisc
pfifo_fast state DOWN group default qlen 500
link/none
inet6 fe80::600:4339:125f:760c/64 scope link
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever

A simple client is then run to bind to the tun interface and read the first
three packets. If things are going well we should see 3 router solicitations,
however we instead see no traffic.

$ python simple_tun_client.py
Timed out...
Timed out...
Timed out...

If we bring the interface down and try again with no delay between
bringing the interface up and binding the application we see things work
as expected.

$ bash rftun0_down.sh

rftun0 down
16: rftun0:  mtu 1400 qdisc pfifo_fast state DOWN
group default qlen 500
link/none

$ bash rftun0_up.sh && python simple_tun_client.py
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.forwarding = 0
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.accept_ra = 1
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.autoconf = 1
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.accept_ra_rt_info_max_plen = 128
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.accept_ra_rtr_pref = 1
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.router_solicitation_delay = 1
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.router_solicitation_interval = 2
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.router_solicitations = 200
rftun0 up
16: rftun0:  mtu 1400 qdisc
pfifo_fast state DOWN group default qlen 500
link/none
inet6 fe80::600:1512:6243:38fe/64 scope link
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
Read packet from tunnel. 48 bytes.
60083afffe8006001512624338feff0200028500c6e3
Read packet from tunnel. 48 bytes.
60083afffe8006001512624338feff0200028500c6e3
Read packet from tunnel. 48 bytes.
60083afffe8006001512624338feff0200028500c6e3

Furthermore, I can rerun the simple client and continue to receive
router solicitations.

Attempting the same procedure again with a small delay replicates the
original issue. Notice the sleep statement in between the rftun0_up
script and the simple tun client.

$ bash rftun0_down.sh
rftun0 down
16: rftun0:  mtu 1400 qdisc pfifo_fast state DOWN
group default qlen 500
link/none

$ bash rftun0_up.sh && sleep 5 && python simple_tun_client.py

net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.forwarding = 0
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.accept_ra = 1
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.autoconf = 1
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.accept_ra_rt_info_max_plen = 128
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.accept_ra_rtr_pref = 1
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.router_solicitation_delay = 1
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.router_solicitation_interval = 2
net.ipv6.conf.rftun0.router_solicitations = 200
rftun0 up
16: rftun0:  mtu 1400 qdisc
pfifo_fast state DOWN group default qlen 500
link/none
inet6 fe80::600:25f2:67d0:37fc/64 scope link
   valid_lft forever preferred_lft forever
Timed out...
Timed out...
Timed out...

This test can be repeated as necessary. On my system, sleep times of 2
seconds or larger seem to always produce the issue, while sleep times of
1 second seem to work most of the time.

[Bug 1261191] Re: indicator-datetime list evolution calendar all day event a day before actual date of event

2016-01-12 Thread Sebastien Bacher
The issue where "Tomorrow 00:00" is displayed instead of "Tomorrow" can
be fixed by changing src/utils.c generate_full_format_string_at_time()

const gboolean full_day = then_end &&
(g_date_time_difference(then_end, then) >= G_TIME_SPAN_DAY);

to

const gboolean full_day = then_end &&
(g_date_time_difference(then_end, then) >= G_TIME_SPAN_DAY ||
g_date_time_difference(then_end, then) == 0);

seems like the day event don't have a DTEND and that the code consider that
they start and end at the same time. Either we should consider a length=0 as
full day or we should fix the code to set "end" to a different value if that
case

[Bug 1533295] Re: Wrong result when comparing xor and int

2016-01-12 Thread Colin Watson
This is a standard gotcha in C operator precedence: == has higher
precedence than ^, and so your expression is parsed as 3 ^ (1 == 1),
which is indeed non-zero. To fix it, use explicit parentheses as
follows: (3 ^ 1) == 1.

It would perhaps be nice if the C language had been defined differently
(Wikipedia mentions this, for instance:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operators_in_C_and_C%2B%2B#Criticism_of_bitwise_and_equality_operators_precedence),
but we're stuck with it now, and GCC certainly cannot arbitrarily decide
to change the language's operator precedence.

gnome and kde need to be co-installable so these files should be renamed
to not overlap.

As a separate but related issue if ktp explodes because gnome accounts-
plugins are installed that should also be gracefully delt with.

It cannot be gracefully dealt with because Gnome uses different system
for creating their (telepathy) accounts and KAccounts has no way of
knowing which provider is for gnome and which is for kde. To KAccounts,
all is the same.

The way gnome creates telepathy accounts is also incompatible with ktp,
this _will_ result in user having invalid ktp accounts. I am working on
making these compatible, but for now they aren't and will not be till
15.08. There's nothing that can make it compatible.

facebook-im.service will not be installed from 15.04.1 as facebook chat
support is deprecated.

Simply renaming all the files is also not a good option, because if
you'll have both packages installed, you will have duplicated entries,
each doing different things.

I'm afraid these two simply aren't co-installable.

that's quite a big fail compared to the normal setup for linux desktops. if
we can't install two applications from gnomey stuff and kdey stuff at the same
time that breaks package install for an awful lot of people

Yes, well, apparently nobody has thought about that.

Quoting Accounts SSO developer:
"hi! I'd say that the problem is on the .provider files only, because the
service files refer to a provider, so as long as that's a different one, they
won't mess up

I admit I don't have a solution for the .provider files anyway...

one possibility is to play with environment variables, to instruct
libaccounts-glib to look for its files in a different directory"

So for now the only solution is to rename and use different install dir
and use an env variable (I'm not sure which one yet).

Well it's usable. But unusable as your main browser, in the sense that
I need a second browser everytime I want to watch a youtube video or

[Bug 1528651] Re: Code and functional issues with new download in browser feature

2016-01-12 Thread Olivier Tilloy
** Description changed:

  The new "download in browser" feature just landed. This works nicely,
  but there are a few remaining (mostly minor) issues that need to be
  addressed now. I’m filing this bug to track them all, we may want to
  break it up in several bugs if/where relevant.

  Code issues:
  ∘ encapsulation broken in DownloadHandler.qml with references to
'downloadsModel'
  ∘ encapsulation broken in DownloadDelegate.qml with references to
'downloadManager'
  ∘ missing autopilot tests for file upload, picking webbrowser-app (including
multiple files)
  ∘ showDownloadsPage() doesn’t make much sense on WebViewImpl, should be an
internal function
  ∘ contentHandlerLoader should have "asynchronous: true"
  ∘ use default PageHeader from UITK instead of custom BrowserPageHeader?
  ∘ increase test coverage for the DownloadsModel C++ class
  ∘ for consistency, downloadsContainer should be made a Loader, as done in
https://code.launchpad.net/~osomon/webbrowser-app/keyboard-shortcuts-focus-fixes/+merge/280083
  ∘ in Downloader.qml and Browser.qml, calls to Component.createObject() should
pass the properties as second parameter, instead of setting them afterwards
  ∘ DownloadsModel should probably be made a singleton type, like HistoryModel
and BookmarksModel
  ∘ includes are not ordered alphabetically in downloads-model.cpp
  ∘ in DownloadsModel::moveToDownloads(), the [if (QFile::exists(destination))]
statement is useless, the do…while loop is enough

  Functional issues:
  ∘ the "No Downloads available" message is confusing in picker mode, it would
be clearer if it made it explicit that no download matching the expected file
type is available
  ∘ edit mode in the downloads page should be disabled if the list is empty
  ∘ while in edit mode in the downloads page, the 'delete' icon should probably
be disabled if no download is selected (it currently is enabled and exits
select mode)
  ∘ save link from context menu doesn’t work great with links to other pages:
no mime type is displayed (and sometimes even no title), and then the page is
saved without an html extension, it can be viewed with the document viewer, but
this displays the source of the page, it doesn’t render it (we may need special
casing for HTML files in the download folder to open them directly in the
browser)
  ∘ (possibly a bug in the UITK?) upload form that accepts only one file, can
end up selecting two: select first, then second, then first again, then second
again, and both are selected
  ∘ when downloading an image to the gallery, I’m seeing this message in the
log: Failed moving file from
"/home/phablet/.cache/com.ubuntu.gallery/HubIncoming/2/capture2.png"  to
"/home/phablet/Downloads/capture2.png"
  ∘ on desktop if I uninstall qtdeclarative5-ubuntu-download-manager0.1, the
"Downloads" entry is not visible in the drawer menu, as expected, however the
Ctrl+J shortcut still opens the downloads view; the shortcut should be enabled
conditionally
+ ∘ click/touch events go through the Downloads page header to items below it,
so in narrow mode if one clicks/taps in the right place, they can focus the
address bar (thus summoning the OSK) or open the drawer menu

[Bug 1533295] [NEW] Wrong result when comparing xor and int

2016-01-12 Thread Valentin Crone
Public bug reported:

Hello,
I'm on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (64bits)
With gcc:
gcc --version
gcc (Ubuntu 4.8.4-2ubuntu1~14.04) 4.8.4
Copyright (C) 2013 Free Software Foundation, Inc.
This is free software; see the source for copying conditions. There is NO
warranty; not even for MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE.

lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS
Release:14.04

apt-cache policy gcc
gcc:
  Installé : 4:4.8.2-1ubuntu6
  Candidat : 4:4.8.2-1ubuntu6
 Table de version :
 *** 4:4.8.2-1ubuntu6 0
500 http://fr.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ trusty/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

So:
3 ^ 1 = 2 ok?

Try this code:
#include
int main()
{
printf("%d\n", 3 ^ 1);
if(3 ^ 1 == 1)//Bug in this test
{
printf("SURPRISE !\n");
}
else
{
printf("FAIL !\n");
}
return 0;
}

Just compile this with defaut options:
gcc -o youprogram yourfile.c

Then, run, and you will see:
2
SURPRISE !

So, normally it will show "FAIL !", because 3 ^  1 = 2, and 3 ^ 1 == 1 must
return 0, but this test return 1 !

If you do this:

int v = 3 ^ 1;
if(v == 1)//This test work normally
{
}

And:
if((int) (3 ^ 1) == 1)//This test work normally
{
}

Globally, if you have:
int x, y, z;//Choose random values for this

if(x ^ y == z)//Return always true
{
}

The invert is bugged too:

if(z == y ^ x)//Same thing
{
}

I don't know if this bug is fixed on more recent releases, but a patch
is welcome for this version :)

Thank you :)

[Bug 1533296] [NEW] Can't open 7digital albums if they're downloaded internally

2016-01-12 Thread Michael Sheldon
Public bug reported:

Currently we have a special case for 7digital albums when sent directly
to the music app from a download, so that they can be unzipped as part
of the download process. However this isn't possible when albums are
downloaded directly into the browser and then opened.

I've filled this against the webbrowser to keep track of it, however the
correct solution might be to create a new app that can receive zip files
(and then send their contents on via content-hub to other apps), and so
solve the general case instead of just having a special solution for
7digital.

If you read my message carefully you will see that Mir is not even doing
that (two fingers down on the same event). It was qtmir that was mending
the event stream to do so. Mir was completely missing the down event for
the first touch. So all of the blue you got a "touch 1 move + touch 2
down" (no touch 1 down beforehand).

Re: [Bug 1531747] Re: overlay: mkdir fails if directory exists in lowerdir in a user namespace

2016-01-12 Thread Serge Hallyn
in ovl_clear_empty(), the opaque bit is set on the dir in workingdir

in ovl_create_over_whiteout() (the case we're currently looking at) it is
also being set in the working dir.

in ovl_rename2(), it is set in two places, on the upper dentries for
both the old and new.

So it is never set on the lowerdir, at least.

I'm still looking, but it may be safe to say that all needed inode
checks are already done before we call ovl_set_opaque() so that we
can indeed just use prepare_kernel_cred(NULL) instead of prepare_cred().

Confirming here also. One of my systems is an older Dell Optiplex GX280
but sup'd up with 4GB DDR2 400MHz, 120GB SSD, Pentium 4 3.0GHz (SL9KG)

All of the symptoms described by Neumann match my experience on this
unit. Further, I've also got an older AMD dual core which exhibits the
same.

What we probably want to do is pre-cache during startup (with a low nice
value) whatever needs to be done for the gnome activities window to
increase the chances that when the user first opens "Activities" (either
by clicking or pressing SUPER key), that things will be smoother.
(Obviously if the system loads into gnome and the user tries to load
activities before we've finished the caching operation they won't be
better off)

Re: [Bug 1531747] Re: overlay: mkdir fails if directory exists in lowerdir in a user namespace

Quoting Seth Forshee (seth.forshee...@canonical.com):

I didn't mean gross as in eeuw, I meant not fine-grained enough.

Because the capability will apply to inode permissions checks,
and we only want it to be used for the check authorizing the
writing of the trusted.overlay.opaque xattr.

Maybe - that's what I'm not sure about. As you said earlier, in the
upstream code only an admin can do the actual mount. The fact that an
unpriv user can create the mount may change assumptions about the
underlying fs's.

Right.

> If we were to use ns_capable, which namespace do we use?

I don't know. We're almost better off shipping a new version of
vfs_xattr() which is only for use by kernel writers.

If we had your patch we could maybe check against the sb->user_ns?

Quit saying in the next paragraph what I say in reply to the previous!

Good point, hadn't thought of that.

fwiw, my current workflow to workaround this is to log onto the device shell
and "restart indicator-bluetooth"
the list of available devices always instantly appears.
