[Bug 1534191] Re: video replay should resume after user confirms high volume

2016-01-14 Thread Dave Morley
My biggest issue with this is that if you watch videos as a commuter you
will be hit by this issue every day which doesn't make for a great user
experience.

If the tapping on yes were to continue playback then the video plays as
the user would expect, I think this then become a more user friendly
way of dealing with the issue.

[Bug 1532886] Re: s390x kernels are inconsistent for cloud stuff

2016-01-14 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
I'm partially happy about this bug report now:

s390x/config.common.s390x:CONFIG_KVM=m

Is still a module rather than built-in on s390x. Unlike x86 there is
only one implementation and it should be loaded by default. The trouble
is, that it doesn't get autoloaded (and/or when libvirt-bin service
tries to load it, it gets permission denied).

Please set CONFIG_KVM=y, as without that libvirt does not just work(tm)

Noting comment by ryao on 2 Oct 2015:

"If I recall correctly, the root=ZFS=$DATASET syntax is myself and
either @dajhorn or @rlaager agreed to use to adopt as something of a
standard back in 2012. I would like to revisit it because the
root=ZFS=$DATASET syntax does not properly handle pool namespace
collisions. Ideally, I would like the boot loader to pass the
information about the pool by passing the pool's GUID and vdev
information (using by-path syntax) to the initramfs archive through the
kernel commandline so that we can handle spa namespace collisions
completely unambiguously. I have yet to make time to work out a syntax
that makes sense and implement the hooks required for it. When this is
done, I think the old syntax should remain around for backward
compatibility.

Also, I believe that it is possible to put the required logic into the
kernel by allowing us to detect the rootfs mount via current->fs ==
NULL, but I still need to verify this is NULL at the rootfs mount with
kgdb. This would hypothetically allow us to do pool import inside the
kernel using this information without an initramfs when copy-builtin is
used to build a kernel with ZFS support. It would also simplify
initramfs design in the normal case where one is loading modules by
allowing us to omit ZFS' userland binaries from the initramfs. All we
would need to do is use the standard mount command.

This is something of a tangent, but it is the direction that my thinking
on the boot process has taken as it has evolved."

So from what I understand, this fix is a partial solution because it
does not properly handle pool namespace collisions.

[Bug 1365208] Re: There is "Restart" item in startup menu after power on/restart/log in system, the item will disappear in a few minutes

2016-01-14 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Looking at the code it's supposed to be disabled under Unity since
restart/shutdown trigger the same dialog there, it seems it just takes a
bit to the code to get the information that it's under Unity and toggle
the item, maybe we should change the default since Unity is the main
user of that indicator?

[Bug 1451944] Re: Gnome-terminal in Ubuntu Unity shrinks to minimum size

2016-01-14 Thread Chris Nadovich
I'm on the Ambiance theme with 15.10 and I see my gnome terminal windows shrink
gradually, getting smaller and
smaller, losing rows and columns over time. They don't go down to 1x1
instantly. It's gradual. I periodically resize them
back up to 80x24. This sticks for a while but then as I use the computer they
terminal windows start to notch down in
size.

[Bug 1518457] Re: kswapd0 100% CPU usage

2016-01-14 Thread Joseph Salisbury
The bisect indicated the following commit as the first bad commit:
commit 519192aaae38e24d6b32d3d55d791fe294981185
Author: Thomas Huth
Date: Mon Sep 9 17:32:56 2013 +0200

KVM: Add documentation for kvm->srcu lock

However, this commit is only a documentation change, so it's probably
not the real cause of the issue. We may need to go back through and
test all the bisect test kernels again to see if we marked good or bad
incorrectly.

Thanks for pointing out your thread on launchpad. You seem to have

I wasn't able to test all the kernel stuff because of the holidays,
apologies for that. I've just now read a few of the discussions with

the same issue.

Well done though :) Keep at it!

[Bug 1483343] Re: NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup errors when we execute lock_torture_wr tests

2016-01-14 Thread Joseph Salisbury
I modified the lock_torture script to run with the 3.13 or newer kernel.
The new script is attached to the bug. Can you test the kernel
mentioned in comment 18 with this new script?

[Bug 1534208] [NEW] Please merge 1.9.9-1 (main) from Debian Unstable (main)

2016-01-14 Thread Thomas Ward
Public bug reported:

Please merge nginx 1.9.9-1 from Debian into Ubuntu. There are multiple
packaging changes, which fix bugs or update third-party plugins which
need updated.

--

NGINX 1.9.9-0ubuntu1 was uploaded directly to Ubuntu due to Debian
dragging their heels with updating the package in Debian. When it
became fairly clear that Debian was extremely slow to update, and was
almost three months behind Nginx upstream, 1.9.9-0ubuntu1 was uploaded
directly to the repositories.

The Debian changelog will be included after the Debian tracker updates -
1.9.9-1 was uploaded to Debian only today.

--

Build tests will be underway in
https://launchpad.net/~teward/+archive/ubuntu/xenial-buildtests
eventually, but build tests outside of my sbuild are still useful.
Build tests won't go here until i've made sure it doesn't die in my
pristine sbuild chroots.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make

seems that there is a problem with your installation media (CD/DVD).
You can verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO files you downloaded by
following the instructions at

your installation with new media. In the event that is is not in fact
an error with your installation media please set the bug's status back
to New. Thanks and good luck!

[Bug 1534144] Re: [Ubuntu 16.04] CORSA CAPI enabling in PowerVM LPARs

2016-01-14 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1534144/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[Bug 974374] Re: Error on unmounting a NFSv4 share

2016-01-14 Thread WIll Salmon
We get this problem on servers 12.04.5 running Trusty kernel
3.13.0-65-generic (and on 12.04.4 running Quantal kernel 3.5.0-54 )

/etc/fstab has a slash at the start of the NFS server path

/proc/mounts has an unnecessary extra "/" on the NFS path: like this :-

nfs-server://home/users /export/home/nfshomes nfs4 .

whereas /etc/mtab correctly does not ...

nfs-server:/home/users /export/home/nfshomes

This is a nasty bug in a basic utility (umount.nfs) and really should be
fixed !!

[Bug 1484696] Re: Unable to connect to: ws://:/MAAS/ws

2016-01-14 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Larry, or anyone else affected,

Accepted apache2 into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apache2/2.4.7-1ubuntu4.9 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1534239] [NEW] bottom edge tab selector doesn't work with mouse

2016-01-14 Thread Bill Filler
Public bug reported:

if you connect a mouse and the browser is in single column mode, there
is no way to interact with the bottom edge to view/switch to other tabs.
I expected to be able to click on the hint to open it, or at least be
able to click and drag with mouse but neither succeeded.

We should look at using the BottomEdgeHint component in the sdk as that
correctly deals with handle mouse events and making the hint visible
when a mouse is connected to see if that could be a possibility.

[Bug 1240198] Re: [SRU]Wrong keyboard layout active after booting into desktop

2016-01-14 Thread Wouter Van Eenoo
I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but I'll add this to
the bug report because it can be a workaround:

If you have chosen to login automaticaly, logoff and in the logon screen
you'll notice the keyboard has changed (icon next to clock). Now just
change it back to your preference and upon next reboot the keyboard-
layout will be to your preference (as is the case with ubuntu 14.04.3
x64 I've found).
