[Bug 1534544] [NEW] Package mysql-server-5.6 should Depend: bsdutils for /usr/bin/logger in .postinst

2016-01-15 Thread TJ
Public bug reported:

A user reported, for 15.04 Vivid (which appears to continue to affect
all releases to 16.04), on a "minimal installation" a failure of the
-server post-install script. This appears to be due to a missing
dependency on 'bsdutils' which contains '/usr/bin/logger'

debian/mysql-server-5.6.postinst contains the following fragment which
is used on the right side of pipes:

# This command can be used as pipe to syslog. With "-s" it also logs to stderr.
ERR_LOGGER="logger -p daemon.err -t mysqld_safe -i"

The installation error was:

invoke-rc.d: Unit mysql.service is masked

[Bug 1534210] Re: The Small layout for Onboard is missing russian letter Ж (je)

2016-01-15 Thread marmuta
Thanks a lot. Shouldn't we add back the single quote somewhere, though?
I realize the regular Russian key map doesn't contain it, but the
phonetic flavors do. We could perhaps make room for it on the number
layer by moving the ampersand to the symbols layer.

robegue, still not reproducible on my end. Hence, could you please run the
following command once from a terminal as it will automatically gather and
attach updated debug information to this report:

[Bug 1455216] Re: Lensfun version in package is outdated

2016-01-15 Thread Flames_in_Paradise
@ Geert: U can watch Debian PTS¹ on this package. Though the package is
in "experimental" (a.k.a. Squezze) now - given an certain period of
testing in order to avoid incorporating bugs (thats the common
procerede) it will make its way into "unstable -> testing"

Given the fact that any package receiving a higher version-no.² in the
current development-release² it will automatically be merged until the
Debian-freeze timeline.

[Bug 1405437] Re: [Dell Precision M4800] iwlwifi regularly loses connection on Intel 7260

2016-01-15 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
arty, as per
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/Drivers/DriversDetails?driverId=V42DW=3502854647=BIOSA=precision-m4800-workstation=EN=BI
an update to your computer's buggy and outdated BIOS is available (A16).
If you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate does it change anything?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful. As well, you don't
have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status Confirmed. If it's not reproducible, please
mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1520893] Re: Emoji should not be a separate keyboard

2016-01-15 Thread Femma
This is contingent on any conversations we may have with 3rd party
keyboard companies.

As for having it as part of the same keyboard, this poses it's own
problems. People are accustomed to switching keyboards for emojis, so
there will be a 'I can't find it' problem.

Layout is important too, we do not want the user to have to excessively
scroll in order to find emojis.

[Bug 1533839] Re: vms shutting down on libvirt upgrade

2016-01-15 Thread Martin Pitt
This easily reproduces in a VM with

  sudo apt-get install libvirt-bin
  sudo apt-get install --reinstall libvirt-bin

During the second operation you can see this in the journal:

Jan 15 12:39:43 autopkgtest systemd[1]: Stopped Stop Active Libvirt
Guests.

/var/lib/dpkg/info/libvirt-bin.prerm has

# Automatically added by dh_systemd_start
if [ -d /run/systemd/system ]; then
deb-systemd-invoke stop libvirt-guests.service >/dev/null
fi
[...]
# Automatically added by dh_systemd_start
if [ -d /run/systemd/system ] && [ "$1" = remove ]; then
deb-systemd-invoke stop libvirt-guests.service >/dev/null
fi
# End automatically added section
# Automatically added by dh_installinit
if ([ -x "/etc/init.d/libvirt-guests" ] || [ -e "/etc/init/libvirt-guests.conf"
]) && \
   [ "$1" = remove ]; then
invoke-rc.d libvirt-guests stop || exit $?
fi

which is unconditionally run regardless of the operation. So this
explains why libvirt-guests get stopped. So the prerm needs to be fixed.
This sounds like a bug in dh_systemd_start --no-restart-on-upgrade.

[Bug 1467886] Re: expandable widget cannot collapse widgets to the number defined by "collapsed-widgets"

2016-01-15 Thread Albert Astals Cid
I think the problem is that the documentation doesn't match what the
code does.

The internal documentation we have in the code says

This widget shows a list of widgets defined in widgetData["widgets"]
Those widgets can be collapsed or uncollapsed. When uncollapsed
all the widgets are shown, when collapsed only the first
widgetData["collapsed-widgets"] are shown. It has a title that comes
in via widgetData["title"]. This widget expands all child widgets
when initialized by specifying widgetData["expanded"] == true.
It's in unexpanded mode by default.

There's nothing about 0 being a magic number and also collapsed-widgets
is the number of widgets that will still be shown when the widget is
collapsed.

I think it's best to update the documentation to match the code since
there's a few scopes using the widget already.

[Bug 1384503] Re: rsync fails on large files with compression

2016-01-15 Thread André Freitas
I am also suffering from this bug with a 1GB file with the --compress
flag in Ubuntu 14.04 with Rsync 3.1.0. The bug is pretty consistent and
after I removed the compress flag I got no more broken pipes.

I will try to make this bug reproducible with Docker and publish here.

[Bug 1534544] [NEW] Package mysql-server-5.6 should Depend: bsdutils for /usr/bin/logger in .postinst

2016-01-15 Thread TJ
Public bug reported:

A user reported, for 15.04 Vivid (which appears to continue to affect
all releases to 16.04), on a "minimal installation" a failure of the
-server post-install script. This appears to be due to a missing
dependency on 'bsdutils' which contains '/usr/bin/logger'

debian/mysql-server-5.6.postinst contains the following fragment which
is used on the right side of pipes:

# This command can be used as pipe to syslog. With "-s" it also logs to stderr.
ERR_LOGGER="logger -p daemon.err -t mysqld_safe -i"

The installation error was:

[Bug 1510570] Re: BLE pairing fail

2016-01-15 Thread Yung Shen
found a workaround to this:

if you happened to upgrade from vivid(15.04) or you know how to get vivid
kernel install properly,
you can boot the system with 3.19 kernel and pairing up the mouse using
bluetoothctl manually
then reboot with 4.2, the mouse will still paired and working.

$ bluetoothctl (entering interactive mode)
$ agent on
$ default-agent
$ pairable on
$ scan on
$ devices (to see the device mac that you want to pair)
$ pair
$ trust
$ connect

verified versions(stable while posted):
bluez 5.35-0ubuntu2
linux-image-3.19.0-43-generic 3.19.0-43.49

[Bug 1534545] [NEW] xenial arm64 regression: "unsupported RELA relocation: 275" on adding a bridge

2016-01-15 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

(Split out from bug 1531768)

Installing the current xenial kernel on arm64
(http://ports.ubuntu.com/pool/main/l/linux/linux-
image-4.3.0-5-generic_4.3.0-5.16_arm64.deb) regresses the creation of
bridges, which breaks LXC:

lxc fails on lxc-net:

Jan 07 10:03:15 lxd-armhf1w systemd[1]: Starting LXC network bridge setup...
Jan 07 10:03:16 lxd-armhf1w lxc-net[10651]: RTNETLINK answers: Operation not
supported
Jan 07 10:03:16 lxd-armhf1w lxc-net[10651]: Failed to setup lxc-net.

particularly it fails on "ip link add dev lxcbr0 type bridge". Running
just this command reproduces the error.

dmesg error for this:

[ 199.168466] module x_tables: unsupported RELA relocation: 275
[ 199.232020] module llc: unsupported RELA relocation: 275

This works fine with the trusty and wily arm64 kernel.

(Tested on Scalingstack; I can hand out ssh access to Canonical folks)

[Bug 802847] Re: Zanshin crash after selecting resource

2016-01-15 Thread Flames_in_Paradise
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better.

We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner.

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and
your problem
may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you
could test it on a currently supported Ubuntu version.

https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Releases

When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated
logs by running only once:

apport-collect

and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.

[Bug 1534541] Re: Dash doesn't accept input (appears frozen) after youtube scope auth

2016-01-15 Thread Pawel Stolowski
** Description changed:

  1. Make sure youtube scope is not favorited.
  2. Remove Google account from Accounts settings.
  3. Open youtube scope via Manage Dash
  4. Hit the orange 'Log-in to..' button
  5. Authenticate with google.
  6. Wait till youtube results are refreshed.

  The dash appears frozen now. It doesn't crash though, in fact the
  process is running and the dash responds to the dbus signal which
  invalidates current scope and forces a refresh (tested with dbus-send
  --session --type=signal '/com/canonical/unity/scopes'
  com.canonical.unity.scopes.InvalidateResults string:'clickscope').
+
+ Note, the launcher as well as apps still receive input and work ok.

[Bug 1534576] [NEW] Username and password is limited to 63 characters

2016-01-15 Thread dol.dev
Public bug reported:

The current version iof imapproxy has an upper limit of 63 characters
for the IMAP username and password. This values should be adjusted and
increased. We run into this problem because an customer used a password
that's longer than 63 characters.

The limits are defined in:
https://bazaar.launchpad.net/~ubuntu-branches/ubuntu/wily/up-imapproxy/wily/view/head:/include/imapproxy.h#L179

The original SquirrelMail imapproxy project has increased limits:
http://sourceforge.net/p/squirrelmail/code/HEAD/tree/trunk/imap_proxy/include/imapproxy.h#l166

** Affects: up-imapproxy (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1534172] Re: With bgplaylists if an alert sounds, the playback stops and the queue is lost

2016-01-15 Thread Andrew Hayzen
So during further testing we have found 3 different cases, from
different alerts.

1) with an SMS alert or an alarm the music kept going and seemed fine
2) a telegram notification caused the music to stop, but the queue didn't empty
(it remained intact)
3) a camera shutter sound/screenshot sound caused the music to stop and the
queue empty

That would depend rather a lot on what your goal is. For the purposes
of this bug report, though, the answer is probably that the next step on
it is for a developer to prepare a fix, and if you aren't a developer
then you should do nothing.

[Bug 1523157] Re: Computer is idle for 20-25 seconds after login

2016-01-15 Thread Alberto Mardegan
After realizing that this happened with my user only (the guest session
was not affected by this bug), I removed the .Xauthority, .ICEauthority
and .dbus/ files from my user's home and the problem went away. I'm not
sure which of the three was the issue.

Anyway, I suppose I should close this bug then.

[Bug 1534541] [NEW] Dash doesn't accept input (appears frozen) after youtube scope auth

2016-01-15 Thread Pawel Stolowski
Public bug reported:

1. Make sure youtube scope is not favorited.
2. Remove Google account from Accounts settings.
3. Open youtube scope via Manage Dash
4. Hit the orange 'Log-in to..' button
5. Authenticate with google.
6. Wait till youtube results are refreshed.

The dash appears frozen now. It doesn't crash though, in fact the
process is running and the dash responds to the dbus signal which
invalidates current scope and forces a refresh (tested with dbus-send
--session --type=signal '/com/canonical/unity/scopes'
com.canonical.unity.scopes.InvalidateResults string:'clickscope').

** Affects: unity-scopes-shell (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1527935] Re: Load PDF with more than 1000 pages

2016-01-15 Thread Jeffrey Ratcliffe
I've just fixed this in the uncoming version. However, it exposed a
fundemental problem with the program architecture. Each page is stored
as a temporary file. Perl does not close the file handles for temporary
files until they are out of scope, so on my machine, after around 1000
pages, my machine runs out of file handles.

The medium term solution is to store the data in an SQLite database,
rather than lots of temporary files, but that will require major
surgery.

[Bug 1534541] Re: Dash doesn't accept input (appears frozen) after youtube scope auth

2016-01-15 Thread Pawel Stolowski
Some more observations / remarks:

- I cannot reproduce it with Facebook scope (which uses similiar auth scenario
- i.e. a special card in the scope search results, as opposed to authentication
from a preview).
- I cannot reproduce it with Ubuntu Store scope (which uses different auth
scenario - from a preview).
- I'm able to reproduce with Youtube scope every time.

In all authentication scenarios the dash calls into online accounts api.
For the duration of authentication (i.e. when the auth prompt is
displayed), the dash runs a QEventLoop with disabled input processing,
so that it's not possible to interact with the dash until auth fails or
succeeds:

QEventLoop loop;
connect(_watcher, ::finished, ,
::quit);
loop.exec(QEventLoop::ProcessEventsFlag::ExcludeUserInputEvents);

This loop is stopped as soon as auth API finishes processing the prompt
(see http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~unity-team/unity-scopes-
shell/trunk/view/head:/src/Unity/logintoaccount.cpp).

[Bug 1531913] Re: Fallback image not shown when no image specified

2016-01-15 Thread Michał Sawicz
Ultimately it's the call of whoever wrote the API and what was their
intention. I tend to agree that the fallback is only meant to deal with
cases where the scope can't do anything about it. When sending empty, it
might very well send the fallback URL instead.

What's the argument against the above? Maybe it's API and/or docs that
need to be amended to make it more clear?

I'm not saying no, but it's not our decision alone.

[Bug 1451728]

2016-01-15 Thread Flames_in_Paradise
This is a real blocker - so... Multi-Desktop environment (still
recommended?) puts interested peoples desktop in a unsecure state as it
blocks APT then.

If there is no other solution we will have to ask to remove Telepathy
from Kubuntu-meta or _not_ to recommend a mixed Desktop-Environment any
longer & put up a warning. May sound harsh, but...

This error covers two release + a third that's in current development.

A possible solution to get at least APT back into it's shoes again was
posted in askubuntu:

[Bug 1534541] Re: Dash doesn't accept input (appears frozen) after youtube scope auth

2016-01-15 Thread Jean-Baptiste Lallement
Confirmed on latest rc-proposed (krillin 231). The dash doesn't receive
any input but the launcher, the indicators, the greeter or any app
launched from the launcher work fine.

[Bug 1512211] Re: Charging from USB battery, phone stops charging, switches on screen, and discharges

2016-01-15 Thread Matthew Exon
I only just noticed the new description above with the invitation to
submit new bugs. I've submitted Bug #1534565 for keeping the screen on
while charging, and Bug #1534563 for providing longer blank intervals.

I'd say that neither of these bugs is at all important and in fact I
might not even use them anyway. The stuff confirmed as "valid" above
are the important things for me. Still, use cases submitted for your
viewing pleasure...
