[Bug 1556357] Re: WiFi fails to resume after suspend; Race with wpasupplicant / wpa_cli resume?

2016-03-11 Thread Martin Pitt
Which Ubuntu release is that, wily or xenial? (Please use apport to file
bugs).

/lib/systemd/system-sleep/wpasupplicant is a nasty hack/workaround
introduced in bug 1422143; this is mirroring what we did before
in/usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/60_wpa_supplicant, but this really needs to
be fixed properly in NM or wpa (not sure which) at some point..

** No longer affects: systemd (Ubuntu)

** Also affects: network-manager (Ubuntu)

Mathieu, did you see this before? Any hints what to do here?

@Haw: Can you please include the full logs before and after suspend? The

[Bug 1554861] Re: Systemd crashes with a simple set of target units

2016-03-11 Thread Martin Pitt
Normally I wasn't planning an upload in the next days as there's nothing
urgent queued in git, aside perhaps from this patch. But so far I only
got this one report about it, thus so far I didn't consider it
particularly urgent (especially as this should be simple enough to work
around by setting a nonzero timeout). But there surely be another upload
in the next two weeks.

[Bug 1548867] Re: After upgrading to 4.2.0.30 there's no desktop

2016-03-11 Thread Francis
I too faced the booting problem with Ubuntu 15.10 to kernel 4.2.0.30
after software update. But if I move to previous Kernel version
4.2.0.27, then it is working fine.

Today again I updated my Kernel 4.2.0.30. Now everything is working
fine. It seems there was a bug, but now it is resolved.

[Bug 1553659] Re: Ubuntu 15.10 freezes with linux Kernel 4.2 (with intel chipset)

2016-03-11 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Florian Tobé, in order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream
kernel available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ?
Please keep in mind the following:
1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the
daily folder).
2) The release names are irrelevant.
3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was
released upstream.
4) Install instructions are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds .

If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may:
1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there.
2) Backup, or clone the primary install.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is
the release candidate number if it exists.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically
requested to do so.

Once testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, please mark this
report Status Confirmed. Please let us know your results.

Thank you for your understanding.

** Description changed:

- I started with a brand new pc with a fresh install of ubuntu 14.04. But
graphics were poor :
- florian@florian-W9x0LU:~$ lspci | grep VGA
- 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Device 22b1 (rev 21)
- After some research, I found out that using Kernel 3.19 would solve the
problem : it did !
- But External Monitor used to get black (detected and working : sliding
windows into it was possible) suddenly after few minutes.
- So I've finally decided to upgrade to 15.10... And freeze happened as soon as
login screen appeared, sometimes before at splash logo.
- I changed boot order to Kernel 3.19 to make it work again but "black screen
of external monitor"'s problem were still happening.
- Then I've tried to install Intel driver for linux successfully which didn't
solve the black screen external monitor problem. Lastly, I tryied one last time
to boot with kernel 4.2 with big freeze again again.
- ---
+ In Ubuntu 14.04 and 15.10, freeze happens as soon as the login screen
+ appears, sometimes before the splash logo.
+
+ This doesn't occur with kernel 3.19, but the black screen of external

[Bug 1468027] Re: change default CJK fonts to Noto CJK

I support to specify font weight directly in fontconfig.

And It is OK to specify which font you want including font weight, so I
think it is a normal usage case not a workaround anyway.

[Bug 1548581] Re: using wacom tablet crashes the whole system in 16.04

2016-03-11 Thread Chris
I've updated my description with my info. I hope, now there will be some
kind of solution. Thanks in advance!

** Description changed:

Just tried the daily build and - as I expected, because I tried many
times - if I try to use my Wacom tablet, the whole system freezes.

I'm not sure what it is, maybe it gets a kernel panic or it's because
X.org, but I can't even restart the session, just if I turn off my
laptop by pressing the power button for seconds, because after trying to
use the graphics tablet, even the mouse and keyboard are frozen. I
reproduced this many times and I got the same results every single time.
But this doesn't even need to be in a drawing software. If I move the
pen over the tablet the whole system crashes.

Of course, if I pull it out and after restart I use Ubuntu without it,
then everything is normal, but in my opinion this is a heavily serious
issue, considering that we are talking about an LTS release, which has
to mean rock-solid stability over non-LTS distros. Now I'm in Linux
Mint, because this happens since 15.10 and Mint is the only Linux
distribution which has full support for my graphics and art project
workflow. Whatever they do, it just works, but Ubuntu is seriously
  unstable these days.
+
+ Here are my outputs:
+ Linux CNB-NoteBook-Pro 4.4.0-11-generic #26-Ubuntu SMP Sat Mar 5 14:25:21 UTC
2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
+
+ Ubuntu 4.4.0-11.26-generic 4.4.4
+
+ dmesg.log -> http://pastebin.com/WjLQpbvk
+ lspci-vvnn.log -> http://pastebin.com/6aYymGAG

[Bug 1468027] Re: change default CJK fonts to Noto CJK

2016-03-11 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Ok, Mingye, it seems as if I stand corrected, and that it is an issue in
the version of fontconfig in the Ubuntu archive.

Nevertheless, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS will be released in a few weeks.
Considering that it's "feature freeze", I doubt there is a plan to
update fontconfig for 16.04.

At the same time I happened to find a way to work around the issue and
make "Regular" the default weight via the .conf files, which is what
Xhacker stated as desirable.

What do others think?

[Bug 1553659] Re: Ubuntu 15.10 freezes with linux Kernel 4.2 (with intel chipset)

2016-03-11 Thread Florian Tobé
apport information

** Description changed:

I started with a brand new pc with a fresh install of ubuntu 14.04. But
graphics were poor :
  florian@florian-W9x0LU:~$ lspci | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Device 22b1 (rev 21)
After some research, I found out that using Kernel 3.19 would solve the
problem : it did !
But External Monitor used to get black (detected and working : sliding
windows into it was possible) suddenly after few minutes.
So I've finally decided to upgrade to 15.10... And freeze happened as soon as
login screen appeared, sometimes before at splash logo.
I changed boot order to Kernel 3.19 to make it work again but "black screen
of external monitor"'s problem were still happening.
Then I've tried to install Intel driver for linux successfully which didn't
solve the black screen external monitor problem. Lastly, I tryied one last time
to boot with kernel 4.2 with big freeze again again.

[Bug 1468027] Re: change default CJK fonts to Noto CJK

2016-03-11 Thread Jeff Bai
So hi everyone...

After letting Arthur use my computer for quite a while... well whatever.

I've updated to 2.11.94 on AOSC OS, and here's what I've got.

jeffbai [ ~ ] $ LC_CTYPE=zh_CN.UTF-8 fc-match -a | head -31
NotoSansCJK-Regular.ttc: "Noto Sans CJK SC" "Regular"
n019003l.pfb: "Nimbus Sans" "Regular"

the "Nimbus" gimbles are from 30-metric-aliases.conf.

2016-03-11 Thread Florian Tobé
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected xenial

2016-03-11 Thread Mingye Wang
So updates from fontconfig for those who doesn't want to wait for the
bugzilla crawler..

Fontconfig 2.11.1 is ancient, and support for demilight has been added
in https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81453, which ended up in
those oddly-numbered releases like 2.11.91 or so. The current latest
release found in
https://www.freedesktop.org/software/fontconfig/release/ is 2.11.94.

And the wiki page pointing to 2.11.1 was never updated since 2014-03-07.

Hmm... It's your decision to decide whether to update fc to such an
undocumented version.

[Bug 1465050] Re: Size of /boot partition is too small

2016-03-11 Thread Paul Gear
> Customizing the size of your /boot partition is already possible in
> ubiquity. This bug report is saying that the *default* size of the /boot
> partition is too small.

Has that changed since the release of utopic? Because when I installed
this laptop it was certainly not possible to do so and still use LUKS
encryption, without jumping over some fairly significant hurdles.

>From memory, the workaround steps to get a larger /boot were:
- create preferred partition setup using a server install ISO
- boot using the desktop ISO
- manually enable the encrypted LVM VG
- run the installer and tell it to use the existing partition setup
- boot from the server CD again, run recovery, and reconfigure the initrd to
include encryption support

There may have been an easier way to do this, but all the ways I tried
based on the server ISO ended up with non-working graphics, and the
desktop ISO resulted in a unbootable system due to missing encryption
support.

[Bug 1318360] Re: Poor microphone quality (mako)

2016-03-11 Thread Nate
I don't know if this will help anyone else arrive at a solution, but I observed
alsamixer while switching back and forth between non-speaker phone mode and
speaker phone mode in a phone call. While switching the mode I watched capture
"devices" (not sure of the correct term) DEC4 and DEC6 change gain amounts as
follows:

non-speaker phone mode
DEC4 at 68%, dB gain: 0.84
DEC6 at 80%, dB gain: 0.99

speaker phone mode
DEC4 at 70%, dB gain: 0.87
DEC6 at 68%, dB gain: 0.84

I'm learning about this on the fly because I'd like a solution, so I
have no idea what to do next but maybe someone else does.

[Bug 1556330] Re: upstream curl bug #1371: p12 client certificates code is broken

2016-03-11 Thread Matthew Hall
Brian, I was hoping for some community assistance on the changelog and
debdiff area because I am absolutely not expert at creating and
maintaining custom Debian and Ubuntu packaging related files. If there
are some things I should do to create these items documentation is of
course welcome.

[Bug 1550879] Re: [Dell Inc. Inspiron 7559] suspend/resume failure

2016-03-11 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Jimmy Pan, in order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the
issue, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream
kernel available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ?

[Bug 1547245] Re: php7.0: remove dependencies that come from universe

2016-03-11 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package php7.0 - 7.0.3-9ubuntu1

---
php7.0 (7.0.3-9ubuntu1) xenial; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian unstable (LP: #1549407). Remaining changes:
- Drop support for firebird, c-client, mcrypt, onig, qdbm and zip as
they are in universe (LP #1547245):
  + d/control: drop Build-Depends on firebird-dev, libc-client-dev,
libmcrypt-dev, libonig-dev, libqdbm-dev and libzip-dev.
  + d/control: drop binary packages php7.0-imap, php7.0-interbase,
php7.0-mcrypt and php7.0-zip and their reverse dependencies.
+ d/rules.d: drop makefile snippets for imap, interbase, mcrypt
and zip extensions.
- d/control: switch Build-Depends of netcat-traditional to
netcat-openbsd as only the latter is in main.

php7.0 (7.0.3-9) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Replace makefile magic with shell for loop when iterating through SAPI
build targets and enable parallel builds
  * Enable full Debian hardening
  * FORCE_CGI_REDIRECT and DISCARD_PATH doesn't exist anymore, so we just
hardlink php-cgi7.0 to /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ for consistency with older
releases
  * Use shared config.cache between different SAPI builds that speeds up
dh_auto_configure step a lot

php7.0 (7.0.3-8) unstable; urgency=medium

[Bug 1556362] [NEW] Graphic display problem

2016-03-11 Thread Jonathan Tigner
Public bug reported:

I would like to report a problem with my video driver. While using both
LibreOffice Writer and Firefox, Ihave had occasions when the screen
went wonky with horizontal lines running across such that the screen was
not readable. The problem seems to correct itself if I switch programs
using the Launcher and then return to the problem application.

I am running 32 bit Ubuntu15.10 on a Toshiba NB200 with a Intel® Atom™
CPU N280 @ 1.66GHz × 2 processer,, 2 gig of RAM and Intel® 945GME
x86/MMX/SSE2 graphics.

Thanks.

[Bug 1468027] Re: change default CJK fonts to Noto CJK

2016-03-11 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
Yes, "Bold" works as well. The explanation is that each font has two
family names: One which is prepended with the font weight and one which
is not.

$ fc-list : family | grep 'Noto Sans CJK SC'
Noto Sans CJK SC,Noto Sans CJK SC Light
Noto Sans CJK SC,Noto Sans CJK SC Regular
Noto Sans CJK SC,Noto Sans CJK SC Medium
Noto Sans CJK SC,Noto Sans CJK SC Bold
Noto Sans CJK SC,Noto Sans CJK SC Black
Noto Sans CJK SC,Noto Sans CJK SC Thin
Noto Sans CJK SC,Noto Sans CJK SC DemiLight

There is a built-in priority order in NotoSansCJK.ttc by default, where
"DemiLight" has been given first priority. Maybe there is a thought
behind it. Controlling it via fontconfig .conf files is possibly not a
workaround; possibly that's how it's supposed to work.

The question, I think, is if we *want* to change the default priority
order.

Customizing the size of your /boot partition is already possible in
ubiquity. This bug report is saying that the *default* size of the /boot
partition is too small.

I haven't verified whether it is or isn't too small for the default use case
in xenial, though Brian's comment #5 indicates that it is too small. But
that has nothing to do with supporting the install of "more than 4 kernels
for testing purposes".

Ok, so maybe you want to mark bug #1553442 as a duplicate of the *other*
bug, since Stuart's symptom is definitely a result of the lack of
autoremoval.
