[Bug 1311316] Re: After locking screen there is no input field to type password for unlock

2016-03-19 Thread Páll Haraldsson
I'm on Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS Trusty. This report applies to a few weeks
back (was at least 14.04.3).

If I recall, I did get the input field (but months earlier I got no
input field onces in a while).

Sorry, I forgot to report, but then could reproduce easily, since memory
was low. If I locked the screen, then I couldn't get back in, but
realized if I got into a virtual terminal and killed one of the chrome
processes, to make some room, I could get in.

Since then I've given up on the Chrome browser and went back to Firefox.
I'm not saying this has happened always with Chrome or it is the cause
(or Firefox the solution), just that it is an example of a program that
can fill the memory so it can be done manually reliably in other ways to
reproduce my bug.

Sorry if this is not the same bug, do say if you want it reported
separately. I find it very likely that memory low could be the same
problem, even when the symptom is slightly different.

1. Do you use a multi-head setup?
I think not.. I do have another monitor, have set up dual in the past, now the
other is unconnected, and the mouse pointer does not go "off" to either side.

If yes, using just one monitor fixes the issue?
Not sure, I must work with 2 screens
2. Can you reproduce all the time?
Frequently every day, under conditions above.
3. Do you use ldap? If yes, using gnome-screensaver fix the issue (see comment
#115) can you still reproduce that?

I'm not sure if I'm using ldap, I guess Thunderbird may be, we do have
ldap at work, not sure I'm using it for a "address book".

[Seems strange that ldap would be the cause.., what could I likely be
using else, that uses ldap?]

Not sure what #115 is telling me to do or if asking for this info:

ps -ef | grep -i screensaver
qwerty 32042 30834 0 17:09 pts/27 00:00:00 grep --color=auto -i screensaver

4. Please consider posting /var/log/auth.log (at least part of it, should not
contain sensitive information)

Probably outdated..

less /var/log/auth.log.4.gz

[Bug 1555786] Re: [Hyper-V] VM with ubuntu 32bit with linux-next does not boot

2016-03-19 Thread Joseph Salisbury
I can confirm that 4.5 final and 4.5-rc7 fail to boot on a 32bit guest
on my setup as well. I am seeing an I/O error on the disk. Booting
back into a 15.10 kernel, the disk is automatically fsck'd and boots
fine. Going back to a mainline kernel, I get the I/O error again.

I'll test some of the other 4.5 release candidates to find the last good
one and first bad one. We can then bisect to find the commit that
introduced this.

2016-03-19 Thread Steve Beattie
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1547838] Re: ADMtek ADM8511 "Pegasus II" USB Ethernet causes oops

2016-03-19 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
a1291762, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel 2.6.22 to
3.19 in order to identify the last good kernel commit, followed
immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more expedited
analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do this
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ?

Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit
bisecting.

After the offending commit (not kernel version) has been identified,
then please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Bug 1559169] Re: containers no longer start after upgrade to 2.0.0~rc11-0ubuntu1

2016-03-19 Thread Stéphane Graber
Curtis: can you paste a log to confirm it's the same issue as Colin?

It looks like some of the cgroup:mixed logic recently introduced in
cgfsng (to match that of the old cgfs backend) is a bit wrong here and
attempts to create a cpu/cpuset,cpuacct symlink instead of symlinking
cpu to cpuset,cpuacct.

Serge: can you take a look?

[Bug 1558264] [NEW] Usability Partitioner menu does not display the real 4 digit device number

2016-03-19 Thread bugproxy
Public bug reported:

== Comment: #1 - Hendrik Brueckner - 2016-03-10 05:53:02 ==
Usability: Partitioner LVM menu displays dasdX devices. The device name, the X
in dasdX, depends on the order in which the DASDs are enabled (being set
online).

It would be better to display the device nodes by-path, for example,
/dev/disk/by-path/ccw-0.0.e4a0.

[Bug 1558991] [NEW] Wrong sbin/service path in snmpd monit file

2016-03-19 Thread Enrico Polesel
Public bug reported:

Dear maintainer,

In the file /etc/monit/monitrc.d/snmpd the start and stop commands for snmp are:
start program = "/sbin/service snmpd start"
stop program = "/sbin/service snmpd stop"

but apparently `service` has been moved in `/usr/sbin/`, so the right commands
should be
start program = "/usr/sbin/service snmpd start"
stop program = "/usr/sbin/service snmpd stop"

Thank you for your time.

Regards,
Enrico

** Affects: monit (Ubuntu)

I'll fix this in debian in a week if no one takes it sooner (busy with
exams). 0.6.1 is packaged in debian vcs, but i'm unsure if that will
install the new svg file.

The other issue doesn't appear anymore so I could test this issue with a

[Bug 1558025] [NEW] skb_warn_bad_offload Crash

migration of emails, either the IMAP traffic or the NFS traffic
immediately reproduces the crash below.

[Bug 1513813] Re: unity8 windowed mode should cascade

2016-03-19 Thread John Lea
@kgunn72 ahh, that makes sense, from reading the original issue
description I didn't get that this bug was *only* dealing with the issue
of entering windowed mode for the first time when windows don't yet have
a previous size/position. Yes, in this case the window positions should
be cascaded, and the window size should be the default size requested by
the application (if available) and if not available a standard size of
our choosing.

I'll update the issue description, thanks!

[Bug 1556676] Re: In 14.04.04, r8169.ko cannot recover wired Ethernet connection after resume from suspend

2016-03-19 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
** Description changed:

Whenever my laptop suspends (desirable) and then resumes, the r8169
module cannot reconnect the wired Ethernet line. This is consistent. I

[Bug 1558187] [NEW] [Feature Request]improving global menu unveiling in unity

2016-03-19 Thread Kay
Public bug reported:

Hello,

Right now we have to hover over the Title bar of the menu to reveal the
underlying options. Meaning we have to move our mouse over it and than
move left or right. Drawing a "T" is inivtable

A better way would be to reveal the menu when your mouse is moving
towards it.

- As soon as your mouse is X pixel away from the panel it should reveal itself
- As soon as you are outside X+Y pixel away it should not be displayed
- As soon as you are in X+Y pixel near the title bar and moving your mouse
towards it, it should reveal itself
- As soon as you are inside X+Y pixel from the titlebar and moving your mouse
away or stand still it should not be displayed

** Affects: unity (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1520343] Re: Qualcomm Atheros wireless card [168c:003e] (rev 32) not supported

2016-03-19 Thread Queeq
Not every card from the [168c:003e] (rev 32) family works. As I
mentioned in my previous post, mine doesn't. Here is its detailed info
(lspci -v):

Aghhh, so once I finally got an installed server one time, I uninstalled
and purged postfix, because I never wanted it in the first place. But
that broke other stuff.

[Bug 1520242] Re: HP Compaq 8510w: Fan is running constantly in high speed after resume from suspend to RAM

2016-03-19 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Jarno Suni, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel
4.4-rc4 to 4.5 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed
immediately by the first good one. Once this good commit has been
identified, it may be reviewed for backporting. Could you please do this
following
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F
?

Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit
bisecting.

After the fix commit (not kernel version) has been identified, then
please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your understanding.

I didn't mean GSOC. I am interested in this project and hope to finish
it before GSOC application period starts. Actually I have taken this for
my course project(B.Tech in IT). Also, I have some experience in open
source contribution did for Mozilla and Julia so won't bother much.

OK, I'll use mailing list for this.

I am testing this on Ubuntu GNOME 16.04 with GNOME 3.19, but no matter
what I do, I don't seem to be able to install your PPA's version of the
gnome-control-center over the current version, not even removing the old
one and reinstalling, it just reinstalls the old one.

[Bug 1421277] [NEW] Autopilot tests fail due to missing account model

2016-03-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

The autopilot tests are using a fake token and trying to avoid
interaction with the live online-accounts system. However, the QML
relies on AccountServiceModel from online-accounts for getting the
displayName of the account. As a result, when there is no valid Ubuntu
One account in system-settings, the AccountServiceModel has no data,
which prevents the buy() function from being called, due to the lack of
an e-mail address.

[Bug 1555649] Re: lxpanel dynamic height adjustment fails in Lubuntu 16.04

2016-03-19 Thread caspar luc
The size problem seems to be in both directions (height and width). I
have a vertical panel on the right of my screen with a height set to
dynamic and a width set to 50px. Neither the height nor the width are
correct.

I am running Lubuntu 15.10 with lxpanel version 0.8.1-1ubuntu2

[Bug 1559597] Re: [HP Pavilion dv3-1075us Laptop] Invisible cursor after resume from suspend in Xubuntu 14.04.04

2016-03-19 Thread Richard Elkins
You want me to upgrade from 14.04.04 to 16.04? That I cannot do at the
moment because I am in the middle of a development project that needs a
stable Intel/AMD workstation which has lsb packages. Using the lsb API
was not my idea (long story) and I warned my partner that lsb would be
gone in Ubuntu in 16.04.

I could 16.04 in about 4 weeks when my project is live/stable and I have
time to assemble another desktop from a Biostar/AMD motherboard.

Sorry if that's inconvenient. I don't think that the HP laptop hardware
is a factor. This is probably an anomaly on any laptop hardware in
14.04.04 (E.g. the Thinkpad bug report).
