[Bug 1521132] Re: Failed to install Xenial in UEFI mode, failed with "grub-efi-amd64-signed package failed to install into /target/"

2016-04-21 Thread Tom Westerfield
This appears to be the same thing I reported in #1572828, which should
probably be marked a duplicate of this.

[Bug 1499756] Re: Ubuntu 14.04 LTS freezes

2016-04-21 Thread peterzay
After implementing the HWE stack to diagnose another bug (Bug #1313158),
my system has never been the same.

All kinds of errors have been plaguing the OS.

For example, Bug #1568425 which involves gedit (probably a red herring).

I have had launcher involved in a freeze.

Another worrisome behaviour is Bug #1561973 which involves initramfs
(probably also a red herring). Sophos AV scan claims there is no
problem on this machine.

There is such an overwhelming barrage of problems on this HWE enabled
14.04 that I will soon overwrite everything with Ubuntu 16.04 and never
go near HWE for as long as I live.

[Bug 1571798] Re: Broadwell ECRC Support missing in Ubuntu

2016-04-21 Thread John Mazzie
Mark,

I just finished testing with 14.04.1 and the value is correct. The
value returned is ":80:02.0 @160 = 00a0". I'm going to try with
14.04.2 and 14.04.3 as well to see where the change occurs. I've also
attached the "apport-cli linux" logs from my 14.04.1 test.

Whoops, that's supposed to be example.org, to match with the above. I
was changing my organization name.

[Bug 1568996] Re: Duplex printing does not work properly for HP printers

2016-04-21 Thread Roger James
I thought I had posted a reply but i obviously had not.

I had already tried the the test you suggested.

I built a 3.15.7 version the hplip package with the make-duplex-page-
sizes-default.sh script disabled and reinstalled with that. The
hpcups.drv work fine for duplex printing with A4.duplex selected.

I have also tried printing duplex with the PaperSize set to plain A4.
This did not crash with the setPageDevice error as was happening
before. Loolking at the logs the PageSize being sent to gs was just A4
not Custom.A4 as before. so something was happening differently I will
have to revert to the original installation to check that I was running
an identical test, but I am fairly certain I am.

I not sure what the meaning is of these Custom.XXX pagesizes, or what is
setting them.

I will have another look at what is happening with cupsUIConstraints
stuff over the next few days.

But as far as I am concerned removing the script is good to go.

[Bug 1572824] Re: Samba Domain Member cannot check passwords against Samba AD DC after "Badlock" update

2016-04-21 Thread RedScourge
I am not running winbind on the DC. The options I have tried in their
various combinations are server signing = off, server signing = auto,
and client signing = off. I have tried them on just the 12.04 server,
and also on both the 12.04 server and the AD DC. Nothing seems to
resolve the problem for the 12.04 server.

[Bug 1572824] Re: Samba Domain Member cannot check passwords against Samba AD DC after "Badlock" update

2016-04-21 Thread RedScourge
Here is my current samba AD DC config, after removing the signing
option:

# Global parameters
[global]
workgroup = SAMDOM
realm = samdom.example.com
netbios name = FILESERV2
server role = active directory domain controller
server services = -dns

os level = 70

idmap_ldb:use rfc2307 = yes
allow dns updates = nonsecure
#dns forwarder = 192.168.6.3
load printers = no
printing = bsd
printcap name = /dev/null
disable spoolss = yes
panic action = /usr/share/samba/panic-action %d

[netlogon]
path = /var/lib/samba/sysvol/samdom.example.com/scripts
read only = No

[sysvol]
path = /var/lib/samba/sysvol
read only = No

Very simple, as you can see. I use bind9.9 and samba_dlz, and DNS resolution
has worked perfectly for over a year.

[Bug 296867]

2016-04-21 Thread Diane Trout
> Maybe no one wanted to spend time on this feature for a good reason.

Mostly no one wanted to spend time on this because development on
Telepathy stalled in 2014. It was largely being maintained by Collabora,
and their funding dried up.

I do have the ability to merge code to telepathy, but I don't have time
to work on a feature this complex.

Someone else will need to volunteer to implement this.

[Bug 1573178] [NEW] Openconnect not showing up as option for VPN connections in network-manager

2016-04-21 Thread slipslip
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 16.04/Ubuntu Mate 16.04 after installing openconnect, network-
manager-openconnect, and network-manager-openconnect-gnome, the option
to create an openconnect vpn connection does not show up in the gui
dialog for creating vpn connections. This worked previously in 15.10.
Tested network-manager-openvpn-gnome and this does create the expected
option in the network-manager gui. Openconnect functions from the
commandline as well. Problem is likely specific to network-manager-
openconnect-gnome.

[Bug 1573176] [NEW] [SRU] Juju 2.0 beta5 for Xenial

2016-04-21 Thread Nicholas Skaggs
Public bug reported:

Juju 2.0 is not quite final, as per the risks and timeline outlined in
the FFe for Xenial, bug 1545913. As such, we intend to release SRU post-
xenial release. This updates juju to the lastest 2.0 milestone version,
beta5.

[SRU Information]

juju-core has a stable release exception, including for major version
updates, https://lists.ubuntu.com/archives/technical-
board/2014-August/001992.html.

[Impact]
This beta brings further stability to lxd integration, along with easing the
transition for juju-1 users who upgrade.

[Changes in Beta5]
* Support for local charm repositories removed.
  * All local charms must now be deployed using the path to the charm
instead of a local URL.
  * Bundles support specifying local charms using the path to the charm.

* Notable Bug Fixes:
  * GridFS namespace breaks charm and tools deduping across models
Lp 1569054
  * Unable to download local: charm due to hash mismatch in
multi-model deployment
Lp 1541482
  * Destroyed models still show up in list-models
Lp 1534627

A full list of targetted bugs can be seen here: https://launchpad.net
/juju-core/trunk/2.0-beta5

[QA/Testing]
Juju practices continuous integration and testing of the juju source tree. All
voting tests must pass for ubuntu before release. For beta5:
http://reports.vapour.ws/releases/3908

In addition, juju has adt test coverage for all supported archs,
http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/j/juju-core/.

[Bug 1547060] Re: cant use -d switch

2016-04-21 Thread Ryan Harper
** Description changed:

+ [Impact]
+
+ * Users of tgt who wish to make use of the server command line options:
+-d,--debug , -t,--nr_iothreads, -C,--control-port will fail due to
+an option parsing error. This prevents users from exercising
+additional control of the tgtd, regressing the capabilities of tgtd.
+
+This affects the 1.0.63 release of tgt and is not yet fixed upstream.
+Patches have been sumitted.
+
+ * Backporting fixes from upstream release is required to ensure
+users of tgtd can exercise all capabilities, including enabling
+debugging and other features previously available to tgt users.
+
+ * The patch fixes a misuderstanding of the use of errno after calling
+the strtoull libc call. Errno is not set in all cases for strtoull
+so extra checks must be used to determine if the current value of
+errno is related to the strtoull call.
+
+ [Test Case]
+
+ * On a Xenial 16.04 system
+ 1. lxd init
+ 2. lxc launch ubuntu-daily:xenial x1
+ 3. lxc exec x1 -- /bin/bash -c 'apt-get update && apt-get -y install tgt
&& tgtd -d1; echo $?'
+
+ # On FAILURE: return code will be non-zero with the following output
+
+ -d argument value '1' invalid
+ Try `tgtd --help' for more information.
+ 22
+
+ # After installing the newer tgt package, return code will be 0
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+
+ * Unlikely any new regressions will take place as the current package
+prevents users from using portions of tgtd due to not being able to
+pass numeric values to tgtd options.
+
+ [Other Info]
+ * Debian Bug filed:
+ * Upstream request to accept patch
+- http://article.gmane.org/gmane.linux.stgt/535
+
+
+ [Original Description]
  tgt-1:1.0.62-1ubuntu2

Here, the errno is checked incorrectly: you can't check
errno unless the returned value allows you to. In case
of strtoull(), errno should be checked only if ULONG_MAX is
  returned.
I however can't test the fix properly because when compiled
from source, the bug doesn't happen. The value of errno is
unspecified, and it just happens to be 0 when I compile from
  sources.

on resume the card is not properly detected, the mount is removed then
the card is immediately mounted again.

A failed detection:
Apr 21 07:06:09 ubuntu-phablet kernel: [23236.192179]sd card rocr <0xff8000>
Apr 21 07:06:09 ubuntu-phablet kernel: [23236.192196]mmc1: error -110 during
resume (card was removed?)
on a good resume and detect:
Apr 21 07:06:29 ubuntu-phablet kernel: [23237.292804]sd card rocr <0xc1ff8000>
or on my krillin
Apr 21 10:42:59 ubuntu-phablet kernel: [1.405775]sd card rocr <0x80ff8000>

The first bit in the rocr is whether the card is initialized so maybe
there is a race for certain cards, this one is high capacity

[Bug 1573153] Re: M10 tablet does not respect the orientation specified in .desktop file

2016-04-21 Thread Michał Sawicz
Confirmed, I believe this happened with the new side stage
implementation.

I'd argue we should force portrait apps into the side stage. As you
rotate the device into portrait, they would fill the screen.

Similarly, those whose maxWidth/Height suggests they should be in side
stage should probably go in there - not sure if we lock the device into
landscape then, or pillar/letter-box the app at its maximum size?

[Bug 1573062] Re: memory_stress_ng failing for IBM Power S812LC(TN71-BP012) for 16.04

2016-04-21 Thread Rod Smith
Note that memory_stress_ng is a script in the Checkbox certification
suite. The actual stress-ng command line should be:

timeout -s 9 $end_time stress-ng --aggressive --verify --timeout
$runtime --brk 0

The exact values of $end_time and $runtime vary with the amount of
memory in the system -- it's 300 seconds plus 10 seconds per GiB for
$runtime and 50% more for $end_time.

Note also that Mike's "1-3 hours tops" refers to the ENTIRE
memory_stress_ng run; the "stress-ng... --brk 0" run would of course be
much shorter than that, since the script runs a series of stressors in
sequence.

we're not going to do it now.

It's too late for 16.04 anyway.

If it turns out to be a huge Deal, we can probably Update it in an SRU.

[Bug 1573062] Re: memory_stress_ng failing for IBM Power S812LC(TN71-BP012) for 16.04

2016-04-21 Thread Mike Rushton
The very first line of the screen session shows how the test is being
run:

/usr/lib/plainbox-provider-checkbox/bin/memory_stress_ng

The machine is completely unresponsive. No ssh, no ping and the console
over ipmi is locked up. Hitting CTRL+C over the sol console does nothing
at all. This is after leaving the test running for 18+ hours where it
should only take around 1-3 hours tops to complete depending on the
machine. As you can see on the same machine running the same test on
14.04, the test took about an hour to complete with no lockup at the
end.

[Bug 1023421] Re: Update Manager can't set LC_MESSAGES to default locale

2016-04-21 Thread Gunnar Hjalmarsson
I suspect that is related. In that case
LANG is set to "en_IN", which is a perfectly valid name of the
English/India UTF-8 locale.

$ cat /usr/share/i18n/SUPPORTED | grep en_IN
en_IN UTF-8

Changing LANG to "en_IN.UTF-8" makes the error messages go away.

So there seems to be an incorrect locale validity test somewhere in the
code.
