[Bug 1580445] [NEW] Minimal-install boot "animation" can lead to brown-colored login prompt
Public bug reported: I am seeing this on a Xenial minimal install with plymouth 0.9.2-3ubuntu13 (as well as 0.9.2-3ubuntu13.1). After the text-mode boot logo ("Ubuntu 16.04" with the four dots) is shown on start-up, the text-mode tty1 login prompt is sometimes printed in brown/orange text instead of the standard white/gray color. If I log in at that prompt, the terminal session is in all brown text. tty2 et al. are not affected. Whether the login prompt turns out brown or white appears to be by luck of the draw. It probably has to do with the point at which the four-dot "color flipping" ends when the login prompt is ready. ** Affects: plymouth (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1580445 Title: Minimal-install boot "animation" can lead to brown-colored login prompt To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/1580445/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Configurations using these handler, the default value is not correct.(Group A) store_alist_res store_bit store_bool store_dir store_int32 store_pint32 store_res store_size64 store_str store_time However , Another configuration using following handlers has correct default value.(Group B) store_addresses store_addresses_address store_addresses_port store_alist_str store_label store_name store_password store_speed store_strname What's different? Group A is referenced from dird.c and dird_conf.c. Group B is referenced from only dird_conf.c. In dird.c, symbol address is written in the .text segment. In dird_conf.c, symbol addres is written in the .data segment. What's problem? In "/usr/sbin/bacula-dir", Group A are resolved to PLT stub code's address. In "libbaccfg.so", these address are resolved to true function address. So, symbol address is different between "bacula-dir" and "libbaccfg.so". Why some configuration has correct default value? Group B are placed on relocation table, it will be resolved to true function address at time of dynamic link. [Bug 1580434] Re: kernel 4.2.0-36 causes unity to break on 15.10
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1580434/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. Public bug reported: I run Ubuntu desktop 15.10 in a Oracle VirtualBox VM. After updating the kernel to 4.2.0-36 Unity stopped working (after the restart). The symptoms were: - The screen would not use the entire real estate in either the full screen or the windowed mode (of the VM) - On entering login information, only the desktop background would display without dash/launcher, files on desktop or any menu or keyboard action. - If you started / restarted unity from a shell (Ctrl + Shift + F1 or from a SSH session), the desktop files and mouse/keyboard actions would work, but still no dash/launcher. The problems went away after falling back to kernel 4.2.0-35. [Bug 170049] Re: Inverted ruler co-ordinate system
@vaifrax While I do understand your approach as a programmer. From a design perspective (particularly web-design in which the bottom is not always clearly defined) it's often easier to think of coordinates as originating from the top left corner. Creating web design mock-ups in inkscape without the ability to see this kind of coordinate display is rather inconvenient. The feature being requested here is to at least offer a *visual option* for users to observe the coordinate system as starting at the top left. Nothing needs to change in the background. Plugins can still use the old coordinate system and plugin developers can view the coordinate system however they want. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/170049 Title: Inverted ruler co-ordinate system To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/170049/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Flash an image, go to the app store, tap a paid app (I've been using "Cut the Rope" since it's on the front page today), tap the $2.99 button. [Bug 1580394] [NEW] Analog Loopback Static in Headphones while on Dell Latitude 3340 Battery Power
Public bug reported: I have noticed that when I am on battery power on a Dell Latitude 3340 laptop with headphones plugged in , and there is no audio playing on the computer, there is a consistent static sound that comes through the headphones at a constant volume that is not affected by changing the volume level. I think it may be picking up some kind of analog loopback signal because keyboard presses and disk activity seem to influence the noise. When I plug the power cable into the laptop , the static immediately goes away. I reported this earlier to the upstream Linux Kernel bug tracker, but it seems to be fixed in any distro running a 4.4 kernel or greater that I have tested , Except for Ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS 64-bit. This make me think it is not a kernel level issue and is found somewhere either in the audio settings on Ubuntu MATE or a pulseaudio bug. I cannot reproduce it on any other 16.04 distro version, but it also affects all the 14.04.4 distros as well. Running amixer -c 1 set "Loopback Mixing" "Disabled" does not prevent the static. The BIOS Firmware version is up to date. [Bug 1580341] Re: fonts-roboto (1:4.3-3ubuntu1.2) missing the Medium and Black fonts
It's true, it was in connection with the fix of bug #1441210, and in line with what upstream (Debian) did. However, as from Ubuntu 16.04 fonts-roboto lives in its own source package: https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fonts-roboto Medium and Black are back there, as can be seen here: https://packages.debian.org/sid/all/fonts-roboto-hinted/filelist If you are not on 16.04 yet, you may want to download the fonts-roboto and fonts-roboto-hinted packages and install them manually. So, this is "fixed" in 16.04. We won't backport the resurrection of those weights. ** Changed in: fonts-android (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1580341 Title: fonts-roboto (1:4.3-3ubuntu1.2) missing the Medium and Black fonts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fonts-android/+bug/1580341/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1472832] Re: Suspend issue with Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140
In upstream report there is patches for suspend, but this patches behave erratically for me. ** Bug watch added: Linux Kernel Bug Tracker #102281 http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102281 ** Also affects: linux via http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=102281 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1472832 Title: Suspend issue with Dell Venue 11 Pro 7140 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/1472832/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1575744] Re: Language in the Store scope doesn't always change when user switches lang of the phone
I briefly looked into fixing QNetworkRequest/QNetworkAccessManager (I presume that is what you are using), it looks fairly easy three lines at most (famous last words) to fix. ** Also affects: qtbase-opensource-src (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: qtbase-opensource-src (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Lorn Potter (lorn-potter) ** Changed in: qtbase-opensource-src (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Medium -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1575744 Title: Language in the Store scope doesn't always change when user switches lang of the phone To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1575744/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1558079] Re: cryptsetup tcryptOpen doesn't work anymore
I also received the error message, but with 3.19.0-58-generic. I'm unable to revert back to 3.19.0-51 because some of drivers don't work with it anymore. Required kernel crypto interface not available. Ensure you have algif_skcipher kernel module loaded. [Bug 1559576] Re: Ubuntu GNOME boots to black screen when using proprietary Nvidia drivers on a laptop with Optimus
we do have that package on our ISO's so not likely related. Also pretty sure Nvidia PRIME uses the modesetting driver for intel, not the above mentioned. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1559576 Title: Ubuntu GNOME boots to black screen when using proprietary Nvidia drivers on a laptop with Optimus To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gdm/+bug/1559576/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
