[Bug 1581251] Re: Analyze menu option for Playlists and Crates does not add tracks to Analyze pane
** Summary changed: - Analyze menu option for Playlists and Crates does not visually add tracks to Analyze pane + Analyze menu option for Playlists and Crates does not add tracks to Analyze pane ** Description changed: I had one or two tracks manually added to the analyze pane and decided to try out the new feature, "Analyze entire Playlist". It clearly was working because BPMs started appearing in the BPM column. However, I went to the Analyze pane to watch the progress and there was nothing there but the few tracks I had manually added earlier. I had expected that the Analyze option in the Playlist menu would shunt all the tracks from that playlist over to the Analyze pane. I wonder if this is an undecided workflow? Obviously I feel it intuitive to dump the list of whatever is being analyzed - regardless of what pane or menu the command originates from - to the Analyze pane as a visual progress readout. However, absent lasso select (bug #1093598) it does get a bit unwieldy to select from huge quantities of files in the Analyze pane, so I could see a case for deliberately isolating tracks at their visual point of - origin. + origin. Still, if analysis is started automatically on all of the tracks + and exclusively those added through the menu command, there isn't really + anything to select, so it should be fine. A logical alternative option would be to change "Analyze entire Playlist" to "Add Playlist to Analyze" where the tracks would be simply - added to the Analyze pane but not automatically analyzed, and would be - have to be manually selected. This requires more clicks by the user - however, and might seem less powerful. + added to the Analyze pane but not automatically analyzed, and would have + to be manually selected. [Bug 1581321] [NEW] Lubuntu 16.04 Cannot connect to WiFi
Public bug reported: Since installing Lubuntu 16.04, I cannot connect to wireless network. I had no problem in any previous release, including the most recent, 15.10. I originally was using Network-Manager[-Gnome] packages, but then tried ConnMan and Wicd. In all three, I can connect with Ethernet, but not wireless. My hard drive has room for 5 16GB partitions for operating systems, plus one for swap and one for my personal data. Instead of upgrading, I just overwrite the oldest version of [L]ubuntu with the new version. Thus I have several older versions from which I can boot (except that for some reason L 15.10 won't boot). I have run a recommended script for wireless problems ("wget -N -t 5 -T 10 https://github.com/UbuntuForums /wireless-info/raw/master/wireless-info && chmod +x wireless-info && ./wireless-info")under both the current L 16.04, and under the previous L 14.10 , and will attach an archive file containing both text files. I had intended to file this bug under Network-Manager, until I found that the same problem exists for the other two network managers. If someone can recommend a particular package where the bug is likely to originate, I can copy this bug report there. I assume that the bug lies in something lower level that each of the three network manager programs calls to execute their connecting function(s), but am not versed enough to know what that could be. Please advise (both in telling where to file the bug, and how to fix the problem). Thank you. -Scott Jacobs ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: lubuntu-desktop (not installed) ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-21.37-generic 4.4.6 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-21-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2 Architecture: i386 CurrentDesktop: LXDE Date: Fri May 13 01:18:58 2016 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-05-05 (8 days ago) InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release i386 (20160420.1) SourcePackage: lubuntu-meta UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: lubuntu-meta (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 wireless xenial ** Attachment added: "WirelessInfoArchive.tar.gz" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1581321/+attachment/4661753/+files/WirelessInfoArchive.tar.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1581321 Title: Lubuntu 16.04 Cannot connect to WiFi To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lubuntu-meta/+bug/1581321/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1552551] Re: Dell CERC Adapter hangs temporarily until reset. REGRESSION
I have bisected the source of the bug, then took a brief attempt at a fix, unfortunately the quickie fix failed (bad CONST definitions in an .h file). I thought perhaps it was some kind of memory region locking error causing corruption, but it appears to be more complicated than that. The bad commit is b836439 - 4KB Sector Support. The previous good commit is 2f5d1f7. I'm having difficulty integrating this compiled kernel into my PXE environment, hence the week long delay in posting this, unfortunately I lowered my priority for the whole issue once I figured it was too late to get anything into the new LTS release first run and it's been marked as expired. christopher.m.penalver said to mark as Confirmed, but I don't know if I can do that myself, or if I can do anything at all at this point other than post this info here for anyone who's interested. If I do ever get time to look at the (significant) code changes for the 4K support, I'll post changes here as well? [Bug 1581310] [NEW] ubuntu-core doesn't allow sed -i (fchown syscall)
Public bug reported: Similar to bug 1580018, I'm not sure if the default apparmor profile is not correct, or possibly this bug is invalid and `sed -i.bak` should be denied. AFAICT, the issue is that sed -i.bak tries a chown syscall on the backup file in the $SNAP_USER_DATA directory, and the apparmor profile does not allow that (perhaps for good reason). michael@dev-xenial2:~/dev/todo.txt⟫ cat /snap/todo-txt/11/test-sed.sh #! /bin/bash echo "The quick brown fox jumped over the lazy dog" > $SNAP_USER_DATA/sed-test.txt sed 's/quick/fast/' $SNAP_USER_DATA/sed-test.txt | tee $SNAP_USER_DATA/sed-output.txt sed -i.bak 's/quick/fast/' $SNAP_USER_DATA/sed-test.txt chown michael@dev-xenial2:~/dev/todo.txt⟫ todo-txt.test-sed The fast brown fox jumped over the lazy dog /snap/todo-txt/11/test-sed.sh: line 5: 11763 Bad system call sed -i.bak 's/quick/fast/' $SNAP_USER_DATA/sed-test.txt /snap/todo-txt/11/test-sed.sh: line 6: /bin/chown: Permission denied 126 michael@dev-xenial2:~/dev/todo.txt⟫ ls -l ~/snap/todo-txt/11/ total 12 -rw-rw-r-- 1 michael michael 44 May 13 04:30 sed-output.txt -rw-rw-r-- 1 michael michael 45 May 13 04:30 sed-test.txt -- 1 michael michael 44 May 13 04:30 sedwCnCDY michael@dev-xenial2:~/dev/todo.txt⟫ dmesg -H | tail -n3 [ +39.843825] audit: type=1326 audit(1463113859.687:232): auid=1001 uid=1001 gid=1001 ses=4 pid=11763 comm="sed" exe="/bin/sed" sig=31 arch=c03e syscall=93 compat=0 ip=0x7f8428874a77 code=0x0 [ +0.001342] audit: type=1400 audit(1463113859.691:233): apparmor="DENIED" operation="exec" profile="snap.todo-txt.test-sed" name="/bin/chown" pid=11764 comm="test-sed.sh" requested_mask="x" denied_mask="x" fsuid=1001 ouid=0 [ +0.000100] audit: type=1400 audit(1463113859.691:234): apparmor="DENIED" operation="open" profile="snap.todo-txt.test-sed" name="/bin/chown" pid=11764 comm="test-sed.sh" requested_mask="r" denied_mask="r" fsuid=1001 ouid=0 michael@dev-xenial2:~/dev/todo.txt⟫ scmp_sys_resolver 93 fchown ** Affects: snapd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1581310 Title: ubuntu-core doesn't allow sed -i (fchown syscall) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1581310/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1580254] Re: Cannot change accounts images
This bug also affects me. Fresh installed Ubuntu 16.04 followed by a "sudo apt-get update" and a "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade". Cannot change my own account image AND cannot change my own "full name" (I mean the name that is displayed during login, not the real user name). But I can change the image and full name of everyone else. If I create a second account with administrator privileges, this account can change my image and full name. The problem does also not occur when using the console command "chfn -f". If I remember correctly, I had no problems after a fresh installation without any updates or upgrades. [Bug 1581302] [NEW] Monitor remains blanked with Intel Graphics
Public bug reported: Running on a NUC5i7RYH, latest BIOS. ASUS Monitor connected via Display Port or HDMI Running Xubuntu 16.04 - latest all current patches Sometimes the monitor remains blanked even when the session has reactivated. I have been able to reproduce this problem by letting the monitor remain in the 'blanked' state for > 60 minutes, or powering off the monitor. When the monitor is powered back on and the session is woken up with mouse or keyboard input, it does wake up but the monitor remains blanked. I was able to prove to myself the session was awake by leaving it with terminal opened to full screen with VIM running on an NFS mounted file system. I could type and save at the black monitor screen and see that the file got updates from a different system. So the session is "live" but the computer has forgotten to re-establish the DisplayPort link. An error appears in the lightdm logs about setting a CRTC, if you activate an alternate terminal (say with CTL-ALT-F1) and try `xrandr --output DP1 --auto` it also registers that CRTC error. HOWEVER, if you ssh in from a different machine, tell bash to export DISPLAY=:0 (set $DISPLAY to ':0') and then type 'xrandr --output DP1 --auto' the screen turns on again! This also happens on a Gigabyte BRIX system (same NUC reference design but in that case a core i3 rather than a Core i7). To reproduce, turn off the monitor, wait an hour, and turn it on again. You can also kill HUP the lightdm process and that will restart a new session (but open windows in the previous session are lost). So interesting questions, why does typing xrandr "locally" give you the error but running it from an ssh session work? Since xrandr and restarting the session can both "fix" the problem, the driver seems to know how to turn the display on if told correctly. How can I find out where the code is getting the CRTC error? [Bug 1578453] Re: custom smb port changes in pcmanfm's address bar
I have a similar problem. In pcmanfm when I browse to smb://xxx/yyy/zzz The address bar will show smb://xxx/zzz The address bar location is from _fm_path_display_name. _fm_path_display_name will call fm_path_display_basename and then put the basename and path together. But fm_path_display_basename will get the basename from disp_name which is set to "/" some times, which turns smb://xxx/yyy to smb://xxx A quick fix is to disable the feature, if I change src/base/fm-path.c:1024... else disp_base = fm_path_display_basename(path); To... else { disp = fm_path_to_str(path); return; } Maybe that disables something else that's useful, I don't know. [Bug 1581100] Re: weird cusor responses on unity8 desktop
Unity8's cursor switching is still undergoing work (not yet landed) --> bug 1447839 If that doesn't fix it then judging by the videos Unity8 might be failing to position the cursor according to its hotspot.
