[Bug 1576233] Re: FTBFS - ciborium - xenial arm64

2016-06-03 Thread Łukasz Zemczak
Had a quick talk with Sergio about this:

13:55 We would need someone with go experience and, best, with
ciborium experience to help out making it building for arm64
13:55 they all fall to whatever remains of phonedations
13:56 arm64 uses gcc-go I bet. Last time, when I was doing this,
it was not possible
13:56 take into account that ciborium was a 6 month thing until
the storage framework showed up
13:57 But it's still used on our phones from what I know
13:57  Or isn't it?
13:57 yeah, but it should of been phased out a long time ago
13:57 and replaced with the storage framework
13:58 Ok, I'll try to follow up on that, maybe we won't have to fix
ciborium and just switch, but I didn't hear anything about that recently
13:58 I know I should probably ask Pat or John for this but maybe you
know: could you point me to someone with low-level go experience that could
potentially be able to help us out in this ciborium arm64 thing?
13:59 Not too many go experts on the phone side sadly
14:02  Micahel Hudson
14:02 I really am not setup for gcc-go and qt (which is most of
the work to get it working)
14:02 you need to make the qt bindings work first

[Bug 1588500] Re: Applications with permission for location claim they don't

2016-06-03 Thread Bob Harvey
Anyway, I don't see how this can be an invalid bug. Why did I not get
an appropriate dialogue on the tablet explainging what was wrong? why
did I have to come to Launchpad for an explanation (lucid and sensible
though it be)?

Surely if Ubuntu's implimentation of the browser is enforcing this
security issue, it is incumbent upon Ubuntu to say so when it does?

So the bug has become "No dialogue explaining security enforcement for
non-secure urls asking for location".

[Bug 1583537] Re: systemd shutdown writes non-error message to stderr - causes email to be sent despite 'MailOnlyOnError'

2016-06-03 Thread Timo
I also noticed this bug recently. I find it very annoying to get system
emails now whenever unattended-upgrades is scheduling a reboot. It
should either be fixed in systemd (why are they writing an info message
to stderr?) - or if it can't be fixed there, at least unattended-
upgrades should redirect the output of the shutdown command to avoid
these messages.

[Bug 1567602] Re: FCP devices are not detected correctly nor deterministically

2016-06-03 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
@ Benjamin

Thank you for your insights. Is it possible to determine a scope of
affected systems out there? So far a specific config is required to
trigger this bug it seems, but I'm not sure how common such a
configuration is. Extensive back-ports and reworks of the kernel are out
of the question. However, we do have LTS hardware enablement kernel
stacks -
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack#Kernel.2FSupport.A16.04.x_Ubuntu_Kernel_Support
in essence, some time after 16.10 release, the 16.10 kernels will be
backported to 16.04, and 16.04.2 release installation media will use the
updated kernel by default - v4.8 (current estimate for 16.10 kernel),
such that affected systems will be able to use much newer kernel during
installation and regular runtime eventually in the future (current
approximate timing February 2017).

Is it at all possible to test this issue with mainline kernels? and/or I
guess we can wait for 16.10 to get upgraded kernel and retest on 16.10
to see if this issue is resolved with a newer kernel.

Invalid, you say.
Well, the UK Met office is a government body outside my control, and the
bundled web app for it in the Ubuntu store certainly is. I suppose that will
have to be removed.

I have passed your comments on to the UK met office via their technical
fault form on the web site.

[Bug 1579918] Re: Smart Card Reader BCM 5880 with kernel 4.2

2016-06-03 Thread Karl Hill
Before I went down the bisection road, I did something I probably should
have done a while ago...I tested the 14.04 4.2 kernel build on the
"good" computer (Latitude 6430 running 14.04 kernel 3.13), and it
workedfull details: booted live image from usb, added all trusty
sources, ran steps from http://www.vleeuwen.net/2015/05/install-safenet-
etoken-pro-on-ubuntu-14-04-lts, tested and worked fine. Did exact same
steps on "bad" computer (Precision 7510) and got the error.

So, I have to assume that its a hardware issue between the Dell Latitude
E6430 and the Dell Precision 7510.

Thanks for the help and keep up the great work, and if you have any
pointers on Dell hardware, I'd love to hear them.

[Bug 1587749] Re: random 1-2s black screen

2016-06-03 Thread FP
Me and a colleague also experience this exact behavior. It happens a lot more
then 10 times a day here. There is a pattern with mouse movement (leaving
screen) but it is not clearly reproducible.
It seems like the display port signal is completely lost rather than the image
itself turning black, as the monitor is also closing the OSD if it is opened.

Our Setup here is: Lenovo x230 with two external Screens connected via
Display Port under Kubuntu 16.04.

I don't know how to extract the list of software information like the
reporter did...

@Alfonso That is an _excellent_ question, and indeed in this case I was

That didn't occur to me. I now tested by calling with the same SIM card
and indeed the correct switching happens for the duration of the call.
Marvellous!

[Bug 1500242] Re: Bluetooth devices (Jabra BT250, Audi A3 car kit) can not be connected with BQ Aquaris 4.5

2016-06-03 Thread Victor gonzalez
Hi @kzapalowicz and @morphis:

More information and logs about pairing and connecting with Ford Audio
System of a Ford Fiesta:

Here is what I did:

12:30 PARTY STARTED: Fist attempt, paired but not connected
12:49 paired again, I tried to connect it but BT in Krillin disconnects
12:52 second attempt to connect, Krillin BT disconnects
12:54 third attempt to connect and again BT disconnects

Notes:

--> I've tried it with another Vegeta LTE(Qlcomm) and the main difference in
the procedure is that E5 once it is paired, it automatically seems to be
connected and working because there is a BT logo in the onboard screen(watch
pic_E5.jpg-9
--> This BT logo tells the user, that it is connected and ready to go.
Unfortunately Krillin appears paired(watch pic_Krillin.jpg) but it never gets
enabled/activated because that BT logo never becomes blue and Krillin
disconnects it self when trying to connect to the BT carkit.

Additional info: attachment with pics and logs(syslog and application-
legacy-ubuntu-system-settings-.log) with BT verbose+pulse audio enabled

2016-06-03 Thread Paul Gevers
Public bug reported:

Please sync cacti 0.8.8h+ds1-2 (universe) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * Lower versioned depends of libphp-adodb as Ubuntu fixed it earlier
  * debian/patches/11_1571432_mysqli.patch: Use mysqli extension not
mysql with PHP7.0. Closes LP: #1571432.
  * debian/patches/11_1571432_mysqli.patch: Use mysqli extension not
mysql with PHP7.0. Closes LP: #1571432.
  * Add run-time dependencies on php-xml, php-mbstring (LP: #1568136).
  * Default to mysqli driver for database connection, as the mysql
driver has been removed in PHP7.0 (LP: #1544352).
  * Update to PHP7.0 dependencies (LP: #1544352).
  * Update DEBIAN.Readme phpN references.

Ubuntu specific change has been taken into 0.8.8h+ds1-2 package.

Changelog entries since current yakkety version 0.8.8h+ds1-1ubuntu1:

cacti (0.8.8h+ds1-2) unstable; urgency=medium

[Bug 1573616] Re: ListView keyboard navigation focus using arrow keys only works with ListItem as a delegate

2016-06-03 Thread Tim Peeters
I am currently working on ScrollingActionBarStyle for the scrolling of
icons in the toolbar, and for this I currently have code like this:

// when StyledItem supports cursor keys navigation, see bug #1573616
defaultDelegate: ListItem {
width: units.gu(4)
height: units.gu(4)
AbstractButton {
anchors.fill: parent
style: IconButtonStyle { }
objectName: action.objectName + "_button"
action: modelData
}
}

That ugly construction is currently needed to make the keyboard
navigation with arrow keys work. It would not be needed when StyledItem
supports the cursor key navigation.

[Bug 1588785] [NEW] Connect to WiFi does not work first time

2016-06-03 Thread Phill
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce:

1) Delete any reference to your WiFi connection in "Edit Connections" and
disconnect.
2) Find it in the WiFi list (from the applet) and click it.
3) Type your WiFi password and hit enter.
4) The password window goes away but no WiFi connection is established.
5) Open "Edit Connections" and observe that the WiFi password is blank.
6) Try again and it usually works.

I would expect it to connect first time and for the password to be
stored and showing in "Edit Connections".

This has been tried with a fresh 16.04 install both without any updates
and with all latest updates.

[Bug 1588192] Re: GL interfaces seem wedged for Krita on nvidia

2016-06-03 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Hello Mark, or anyone else affected,

Accepted nvidia-graphics-drivers-340 into xenial-proposed. The package
will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source
/nvidia-graphics-drivers-340/340.96-0ubuntu3.16.04.1 in a few hours, and
then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1586026] Re: Remove arm64 binaries for packages failing to build with Qt compiled with OpenGL ES

2016-06-03 Thread Timo Jyrinki
** Description changed:

  Summary of archive operations:

  On yakkety, remove arm64 binaries from the following source packages
  that would now fail the arm64 build if rebuilt:

  bino goldencheetah openscad sdrangelove ovito tulip vite
-
- candidates (build test not yet finished): yade

  Since Qt is now using OpenGL ES, Qt 5 applications directly using OpenGL
  features not available in the ES subset may have build failures since
  OpenGL ES headers are now used instead. Such applications didn't build
  on armhf either which has used OpenGL ES from the beginning. Similar to
  armhf, all or most arm64 hardware graphics (like Adreno, Mali) have only
  ES support.

  --- below is background regarding how the package list was created

  Qt build for arm64 recently switched to using OpenGL ES in yakkety,
  similar to armhf.

  I've output of packages building against Qt 5 (qtbase5-dev, qt5-qmake,
  qtdeclarative5-dev or qt5-default), and a list of packages failing to
  build on armhf - formerly from from http://qa.ubuntuwire.org/ftbfs/ and
  then again via launchpadlib.

  Combining those results in this list:
  itksnap
  klog
  libqglviewer
  mudlet
  sdrangelove
  sleepyhead
  thumbnailer
  tulip

  Of which I already knew tulip was affected. klog and thumbnailer seem
  false positive, making the following candidates of removing arm64
  binaries of:

  itksnap
  libqglviewer
  mudlet
  sdrangelove
  sleepyhead
  tulip

  To get absolutely everything, I got a list of all binaries depending on
  libqt5core5a, got the source package for them and cross-checked. This
  got me the list of the six above plus the following three:

  bino
  qwtplot3d
  vite

  However, rebuilding all of the nine resulted in discovery that not all
  that failed on armhf fail on arm64: https://launchpad.net/~ci-train-ppa-
  service/+archive/ubuntu/landing-035/+packages

  The failures for 5 armhf packages seem to be not related to the choice
  of Qt's OpenGL configuration options, so the arm64 builds succeeded (in
  case of itksnap, would have succeeded if not for other FTBFS problem).

  --
  Same but for depwait and not ftbfs (list gotten via launchpadlib),
cross-checking against libqt5core5a depending packages:

  goldencheetah # noticed manually first, but also gotten from this filtering
  openscad
  ovito
  qtconnectivity-opensource-src
  yade
+
+ Of these goldencheetah openscad ovito failed arm64 rebuild.

Note \xd0 and \x82, which are bits of formerly valid UTF-8 characters

[Bug 1588771] [NEW] There is no Python scripting in Kig

2016-06-03 Thread Valdas
Public bug reported:

I'm using Kubuntu 16.04 and I have installer Kig (version: 4:15.12.3-0ubuntu1)
from "universe".
Command 'lsb_release -rd' prints "Ubuntu 16.04 LTS".

In Kig's Help chapter "Chapter 5. Scripting" is written "...select Objects →
Other → Python Script from the menubar". But I cant find such menu item (see
screenshot). I'm using Kig v1.0; KDE frameworks 5.22.0.

It's seems package issue, see:
https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=363716

[Bug 1588768] [NEW] only first page is converted when converting a multipage postscript file to jpg and then to pdf when using standard input and output instead filenames

2016-06-03 Thread J-K
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS
Release:14.04

Version: 8:6.7.7.10-6ubuntu3.1

I tried to convert a multipage postscript file generated by LibreOffice
writer to JPG and then to PDF using following command line:

convert -density 150 /tmp/file.ps jpg:- | convert - pdf:/tmp/file.pdf

The resulting PDF has only the first page, all other pages are lost.

When using explicit file names instead of the standard input and output,
the resulting PDF has all pages from the original postscript file:

convert -density 150 /tmp/file.ps jpg:/tmp/file.jpg && convert
/tmp/file-*.jpg pdf:/tmp/file.pdf

You can remove the /var/lib/mysql/debian*.flag file and try again, but
since MariaDB and MySQL 5.7 are not really compatible, I suggest making

[Bug 1588192] Re: GL interfaces seem wedged for Krita on nvidia

2016-06-03 Thread Alberto Milone
I have applied the changes to 361 and 340. The old 304 legacy driver is
the only one remaining, as it will require further changes (a switch
from cdbs to debhelper) in order to apply Michael's patch. I promise I
am going to fix 304 soon.

In the meantime we can proceed with the SRU for 361 and 340, as they
cover most modern NVIDIA GPUs.

@Timo, are you calling from a SIM different to the one you are using for
data? If you have 2 SIMs inserted and you do that this is expected due
to modem limitations. Otherwise you should have data and calls without
problem, the tech switch is usually handled transparently by the modem.

[Bug 1588747] [NEW] "unknown op" error on running powertop --auto-tune

2016-06-03 Thread Christopher Barrington-Leigh
Public bug reported:

powertop reports an unknown op error. I cannot claim that it's not
functioning normally, otherwise. Running it looks like this:

$ sudo powertop --auto-tune
Loaded 750 prior measurements
RAPL device for cpu 0
RAPL Using PowerCap Sysfs : Domain Mask f
RAPL device for cpu 0
RAPL Using PowerCap Sysfs : Domain Mask f

Leaving PowerTOP

I don't see the error without --auto-tune.

[Bug 1240848] Re: ~/.cache/upstart takes up around 70GB of space due to unity and mediascanner

2016-06-03 Thread Jelle De Loecker
It might not technically be unity's fault, why is unity logging a
program's output anyway?

Spotify causes a similar issue with the `unity7.log` file, if you have
too many files open it fills the log with this:

```
09:57:53.201 A [file_system_monitor_linux.cpp:104] Check failed: errno ==
EINTR:
09:57:53.201 A [file_system_monitor_linux.cpp:104] Check failed: errno ==
EINTR:
09:57:53.201 A [file_system_monitor_linux.cpp:104] Check failed: errno ==
EINTR:
```

Eating away gigabytes of space per minute, wasting write cycles of my
SSD.

Maybe unity can skip adding identical lines, maybe it can notify the
user when a program is putting out so much errors, maybe we can just
disable the log? Anything but messing up our drive.

[Bug 1588743] [NEW] Data not working during a call on turbo

2016-06-03 Thread Timo Jyrinki
Public bug reported:

If I'm tethering from my turbo and make a phone call, I notice I lose a
working data connection on my laptop. Wifi stays on but no packets move.
Connectivity is restored as soon as call is ended.

Since I'm usually always on 4G/LTE, and I think you can't have a call
and 4G data at the same time (unless VoLTE), would it be that we're not
correctly switching to 2G/3G data for the duration of the call, to have
at least some data connectivity working? I believe that's what other 4G
phones do when there's no VoLTE.

[Bug 1588192] Re: GL interfaces seem wedged for Krita on nvidia

2016-06-03 Thread Alberto Milone
@Mark: that means that either the system or (more likely) the app is
using software rendering. Maybe that is enough for the app, although it
should be a little slower. Soon this will be working with full
acceleration :)

@Michael: thanks for the patch! I made a little change, so that the
.mount file is generated by a template. Also I am porting the change to
all the other nvidia drivers, so that this bug can be fixed for all
users.
