[Bug 1518473] Re: /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness is broken
Same issue with GTX 980M on Ubuntu 16.04, even with latest NVIDIA drivers (367.27). I described this on NVIDIA forums: https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/942337/linux/backlight-brightness-not-hooked-to-acpi-events-ubuntu-16-04-/ I manually fixed it by created an acpid event handler, however in my solution, it only works when changing the brightness with the Fn-keys, but not by changing /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness value. Link Dupont's fix works better (but I didn't use video.use_native_backlight=1 on GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX as he said). By the way, the link to his solution is dead. This one works: http://sub- pop.net/post/fedora-23-on-system76-oryx-pro/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1518473 Title: /sys/class/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness is broken To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/system76/+bug/1518473/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1593918] [NEW] KDE appearance is messed up when installed on a system with Unity/GNOME
Public bug reported: I installed plasma-desktop and subsequently kubuntu-dekstop packages on a system running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS that already had Unity and GNOME installed. There are a number of problems with regards to KDE appearance settings. In particular, changing the icon theme in Settings -> Icons does not seem to have any effect whatsoever. I tried changing mine to Breeze and Breeze-dark as well as other icon themes coming with Ubuntu install, and none of them worked: either in Dolphin or KDE menu. Another problem is the size of font used in KDE menu: it's too big (see the screenshot). Changing font size in system settings didn't change it. None of this issues occur if I run Kubuntu 16.04 from a live CD, so I presume it has something to do with my existing configuration. Deleting ~/.kde and ~/.config didn't have any positive effect though. [Bug 1593916] [NEW] Firefox froze; window came up saying [current window] "not responding"; selected close window - all FF windows vanished.
Public bug reported: Haven't had a crash/freeze in quite a while. For a while, I couldn't use FF versions over 28, as they would never completely load my windows/tabs, and then crashed. At some point, I switched from using AdblockPlus to uBlock Origen, and all was good. Lately, the tabs seem a bit ... loosely attached? ... I usually open up a link on a new tab, and then click on it to select it, but often lately I apparently move the mouse a bit when I do, and suddenly the tab tears off onto a new window instead. I had just done that, and had attempted to use my scroll-wheel to move down on the page, which didn't do anything. I tried the scroll-bar - nothing. I tried to close the window - nothing. A window came up saying that the window was not responding, and did I want to terminate that process. That specific window title was mentioned, so I assumed that just that window would go away, but when I clicked on (End Process? / Close Window? - I forget the wording...), all 12 FF windows vanished. Hopefully something in the supporting documentation will be helpful, as "Firefox Froze" cannot be considered terribly useful... --- scott@scott-Asus-M2N68-AM-Plus:~$ uname -a Linux scott-Asus-M2N68-AM-Plus 4.4.0-24-generic #43-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jun 8 19:25:16 UTC 2016 i686 athlon i686 GNU/Linux scott@scott-Asus-M2N68-AM-Plus:~$ lsb_release -dsc Ubuntu 16.04 LTS xenial scott@scott-Asus-M2N68-AM-Plus:~$ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION Lubuntu s ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.04 Package: firefox 47.0+build3-0ubuntu0.16.04.1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.4.0-24.43-generic 4.4.10 Uname: Linux 4.4.0-24-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia AddonCompatCheckDisabled: False ApportVersion: 2.20.1-0ubuntu2.1 Architecture: i386 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: scott 1688 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC2: scott 1688 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/controlC1: scott 1688 F pulseaudio BuildID: 20160606113900 Channel: Unavailable CurrentDesktop: LXDE Date: Sat Jun 18 00:38:38 2016 DefaultProfileIncompatibleExtensions: English (South Africa) Language Pack - langpack-en...@firefox.mozilla.org English (GB) Language Pack - langpack-en...@firefox.mozilla.org Default - {972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd} DefaultProfilePlugins: Shockwave Flash - /usr/lib/flashplugin-installer/libflashplayer.so DefaultProfilePrefSources: prefs.js ForcedLayersAccel: False IfupdownConfig: # interfaces(5) file used by ifup(8) and ifdown(8) auto lo iface lo inet loopback InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-05-05 (44 days ago) InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 16.04 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release i386 (20160420.1) IpRoute: default via 192.168.0.1 dev wlx001f1fd8314a 192.168.0.0/24 dev wlx001f1fd8314a proto kernel scope link src 192.168.0.2 MostRecentCrashID: bp-33012966-2403-4ed0-a9f0-e94f02160519 PciNetwork: Profile1IncompatibleExtensions: Global Menu Bar integration - globalm...@ubuntu.com English (South Africa) Language Pack - langpack-en...@firefox.mozilla.org English (GB) Language Pack - langpack-en...@firefox.mozilla.org Default - {972ce4c6-7e08-4474-a285-3208198ce6fd} Profile1PrefSources: prefs.js Profiles: Profile0 (Default) - LastVersion=47.0/20160606113900 Profile1 - LastVersion=28.0/20140410211157 (Out of date) RfKill: RunningIncompatibleAddons: True SourcePackage: firefox SubmittedCrashIDs: bp-33012966-2403-4ed0-a9f0-e94f02160519 bp-649eea70-f030-4f17-857b-f9eeb2160510 UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) dmi.bios.date: 06/10/2010 dmi.bios.vendor: American Megatrends Inc. dmi.bios.version: 1802 dmi.board.asset.tag: To Be Filled By O.E.M. dmi.board.name: M2N68-AM Plus dmi.board.vendor: ASUSTeK Computer INC. dmi.board.version: Rev X.0x dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Asset-1234567890 dmi.chassis.type: 3 dmi.chassis.vendor: Chassis Manufacture dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnAmericanMegatrendsInc.:bvr1802:bd06/10/2010:svnSystemmanufacturer:pnSystemProductName:pvrSystemVersion:rvnASUSTeKComputerINC.:rnM2N68-AMPlus:rvrRevX.0x:cvnChassisManufacture:ct3:cvrChassisVersion: dmi.product.name: System Product Name dmi.product.version: System Version dmi.sys.vendor: System manufacturer ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 xenial -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1593916 Title: Firefox froze; window came up saying [current window] "not responding"; selected close window - all FF windows vanished. [Bug 1593912] Re: Warning before Suspending [Feature Request]
** Description changed: This is a feature Request for getting a warning before suspending When clicked "Suspend" on unity panel. I have some problem with my Nvidia Graphics and Suspending (I can't resume from suspend). So I usually avoid suspending my computer. But sometimes I accidentally click on 'Suspend' when trying to 'Shutdown'. Which suddenly suspends my computer without giving any warning!. [Bug 1591179] Re: autopkgtest 4.0 - man autopkgtest still indicates --- as separator
This bug was fixed in the package autopkgtest - 4.0.1 --- autopkgtest (4.0.1) unstable; urgency=medium * Skip tests/autopkgtest NullRunner.test_apt_source_nonexisting test instead of failing if there are no deb-src apt sources configured on the host. * Add test for correctly parsing version number with less common characters. * autopkgtest: If the test argument is a legal apt source name, prefer testing that apt source name over testing that directory. If the latter is wanted, it can always be prefixed with ./ to disambiguate. Update the manpage accordingly. * autopkgtest.1: Update separator. (LP: #1591179) * Fix "apt-get source" version detection for source packages whose versions in different pockets have disjoint sets of binary packages (like Ubuntu's linux-raspi2). * ssh-setup/nova: If the normal "nova reboot" does not finish after five minutes, use the bigger "reboot --hard" hammer. This works around reboot bugs on some architectures. * Fix "apt-get source" version detection for old (Ubuntu precise) apts which does not yet understand --only-source, by ignoring other sources in awk. -- Martin Pitt Fri, 17 Jun 2016 12:08:55 +0300 ** Changed in: autopkgtest (Ubuntu) Status: Fix Committed => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1591179 Title: autopkgtest 4.0 - man autopkgtest still indicates --- as separator To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autopkgtest/+bug/1591179/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1593912] [NEW] Warning before Suspending [Feature Request]
Public bug reported: This is a feature Request for getting a warning before suspending When clicked "Suspend" on unity panel. I have some problem with my Nvidia Graphics and Suspending (I can't resume from suspend). So I usually avoid suspending my computer. But sometimes I accidentally click on 'Suspend' when trying to 'Shutdown'. Which suddenly suspends my computer without giving any warning!. I will have to boot it again (where I get stuck on a blank screen) and long press my power-button and restart my computer. It would be very nice if a new feature is added to unity, where we get a warning like "Are you sure you want to suspend ?". This feature already exists for Shutdown (Screen-shot attached).
