[Bug 1526082] Re: Area of screenshot remains highlighted until application closed

2016-07-02 Thread Emmanuel Rodriguez
On my system the highlighted is also part of the screenshot, everything
screenshot region that i take as a blue tint (very annoying).

I found a workaround by using `mate-screenshot` provided by `sudo apt-
get install mate-utils`.

[Bug 1291371] Re: thinkpad screen dims after unplugging external display, and won't re-brighten without leaving X

2016-07-02 Thread itsols
I'm using 14.04 on an HP ProBook 6460b.

I have the same issue.

It used to dim the laptop screen when the monitor is unplugged. Then
plugging it in again and removing it brought the controls back.

As of today, even plugging the screen multiple times is not bringing
back the controls. I really think we need this fixed.

[Bug 1598534] [NEW] Screen can't get back occasionally after dimmed and locked

2016-07-02 Thread t4eg
Public bug reported:

Reproducibility: Occasionally

Steps to reproduce:
System Settings > Brightness & Lock >
Dim screen to save power > Check > Turn screen off when inactive for: > 1
minute >
Lock > ON > Lock screen after: > screen turns off

Wait for a few minutes away from my keyboard and mouse.
Then move the mouse.

Actual results:
Screen is still dark except a mouse cursor is displayed and can move as usual.
tty1 is completely dark too.

Expected results:
Screen is displayed.

This problem still exists in latest kernel:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-intel-nightly/2016-07-02-yakkety/
In this latest kernel, however, tty1 is displayed as usual.

[Bug 1598528] [NEW] Sync totem-pl-parser 3.10.6-4 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2016-07-02 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

Please sync totem-pl-parser 3.10.6-4 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * debian/patches/revert-totem-pl-parser-dont-use-quvi.patch: Fixes
a FTBFS in grilo-plugins, can be dropped once quvi 0.9 transition
is completed.

This is the last part of the quvi 0.9 transition, except
for the quvi-scripts MIR (LP: #1547395)

Changelog entries since current yakkety version 3.10.6-1ubuntu1:

totem-pl-parser (3.10.6-4) unstable; urgency=medium

  * debian/rules: set libexecdir to a (multiarched) so-versioned path
where we install the videosite helper. (Nothing else uses libexecdir.)
  * debian/libtotem-pl-parser18.install:
install usr/lib/*/libtotem-plparser*/totem-pl-parser directory
which contains 99-totem-pl-parser-videosite helper.
(Closes: #816575)
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.7

[Bug 1189721] Re: Ralink RT3290 doesn't have a bluetooth driver

2016-07-02 Thread Høst
@Alexandre Magno

What did you mean by "it's not prepared with dkms"? Further steps are
necessary besides compiling it with dkms with the current kernel?

As someone else said before this problem has almost no importance in the Linux
community. I wonder if Arch's users are able to send/receive files using this
network card since there's a patch made specifically for Arch's kernel.
Besides that, why does no one change the importance status of this bug?

[Bug 1598522] [NEW] openvpn starts before network is up in 16.04 this breaks networking in clouds

2016-07-02 Thread Stas
Public bug reported:

Hi,
there is a problem in 16.04(which comes with systemd) openvpn-2.3.10-1ubuntu2:
1)openvpn starts before physical interfaces are up
2)and because of this cloud-init(configuration script for all clouds: AWS,
gcloud, azure etc) thinks that tun0 is the main interface(few syslog lines are
attached).
3) cloud-init then tries to manage tun0 via
/etc/network/interfaces.d/50-cloud-init.cfg
like:

auto tun0
iface tun0 inet dhcp

4) which obviously results in a failure to bring up networking:
dhclient[818]: Unsupported device type 65534 for "tun0"
and
localhost systemd[1]: networking.service: Main process exited, code=exited,
status=1/FAILURE

Because of this, in Ubuntu 16.04 on AWS(I actually checked on AWS) if
you install and configure openvpn it works well before reboot, and after
reboot instance is not reachable via network.

There are 2 possible solutions: fix cloud-init, however, if you think about it,
it just iterates through interfaces and it has to take interfaces that are
already UP(or default to eth0 if nothing is up). Because, most likely, those
interfaces are important.
The second way is to start openvpn after networking is configured and up. I
think this way makes more sens(hence creating this report in openvpn package).
It is unlikely that you'll be able to use tunnels before physical network is
UP, anyway.
I suggest adding
After=networking.service
into [Unit] section /lib/systemd/system/openvpn@.service

[Bug 1598519] [NEW] regression: page scrolling jumps to top of page spontaneously

2016-07-02 Thread Christopher Barrington-Leigh
Public bug reported:

I switched to chromium-browser from Google Chrome when, 1-2 months ago,
Chrome began to misbehave on all pages. It spontaneously jumped to the
top of the page when I continue scrolling downwards (using a touchpad).

As of a July 1 update to
chromium-browser:amd64 (50.0.2661.102-0ubuntu0.16.04.1.1237,
51.0.2704.79-0ubuntu0.16.04.1.1242)

chromium-browser now has the same bug!

[Bug 1591526] Re: The screen gets messed up when resuming after suspeding system

2016-07-02 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Nabeel Omer, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.

As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-
support/product/inspiron-15-3542-laptop/drivers?os=biosa an update to
your computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is available (A12).
When you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate how does this improve the
situation?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status New.

If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1598515] [NEW] file-roller 3.16.5 in ubuntu 16.04 fails to open older zip files

2016-07-02 Thread Dick Dunbar
Public bug reported:

I have a website that I periodically submit to a website spider to index
all the pertinent words in the website. I do this every time I make a
significant update to the website. When the website has been spidered,
I retrieve a report which is in a .zip file. I did this today, and I
opened the .zip file with file-roller, and checked it, and it was OK. I
then decided to compare it to one of the previous reports, and to my
surprise, file-roller was unable to open the older .zip files, saying
that they are not present in the directory. I tried accessing the same
files with file-roller 3.10 on another computer running Ubuntu 14.04
(the drive is shared between the computers), and was able to access both
the older files, and the one created today. So there appears to be a
problem with file-roller 3.16.5.

file-roller:
  Installed: 3.16.5-0ubuntu1.1
  Candidate: 3.16.5-0ubuntu1.1
  Version table:
 *** 3.16.5-0ubuntu1.1 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial-updates/main amd64
Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 3.16.4-1ubuntu3 500
500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages

** Affects: file-roller (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1571564] Re: Unable to install Kubuntu 16.04

2016-07-02 Thread Aleš Křivák
I can confirm this is related to llvm bug (at least in my case) and
seems to happen on i7 skylake (6th generation). I have 16.04 live image
installed on usb and had the same problem - illegal instruction in
plasma. I managed to solve this simply by updating libllvm3.8 from
1:3.8-2ubuntu1 to 1:3.8-2ubuntu3 (i had persistent storage enabled on
the usb).

Once 16.04.1 iso is out, this will probably be resolved as it should
(hopefully) contain updated version of libllvm.

[Bug 1590393] Re: Synaptics touchpad discontinues function after login

2016-07-02 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
bradleyaroth, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu
better.

As per http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/product-
support/product/inspiron-15--laptop/drivers?os=biosa an update to
your computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is available (A11).
When you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate how does this improve the
situation?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status New.

If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1589462] Re: I get this error report when I log into ubuntu

2016-07-02 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Raff, thank you for taking the time to report this and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, this report didn't include enough
information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs
effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would
then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. The behavior you expected, and
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1589293] Re: Boot sequence errors found.

2016-07-02 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Hadid, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

As per http://www.toshiba.co.uk/support/bios/ an update to your
computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is available (2.00). When
you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate how does this improve the

1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status New.

If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1589126] Re: Graphic driver

2016-07-02 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Andres Salas Aburto, thank you for taking the time to report this and
helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, this report didn't include
enough information. You may find it helpful to read "How to report bugs
effectively" http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would
then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. The behavior you expected, and
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1598504] [NEW] [XPS 15 9550, Realtek ALC3266, Speaker, Internal] Cannot select internal speakers with headphone connected

2016-07-02 Thread Cruz Fernandez
Public bug reported:

When the headphone is connected, the System Settings->Sound shows two
outputs "Headphones" and "Speakers. Built-in Audio". Selecting
"Speakers. Built-in Audio" just mutes all sound. When disconnecting the
headphones, everything works fine though.

A possible solution could be to disallow that option when headphones are
connected.

mikey_585, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

As per http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=5118#bios
an update to your computer's buggy, insecure, and outdated BIOS is
available (F8). When you update to this following
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIOSUpdate how does this improve the
situation?

For more on BIOS updates and linux, please see
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/ReportingBugs#Bug_reporting_etiquette
.

Please note your current BIOS is already in the Bug Description, so
posting this on the old BIOS would not be helpful.

Also, you don't have to create a new bug report.

Once the BIOS is updated, if the problem is still reproducible:
1) Please provide the output of the following terminal command (not perform an
apport-collect):
sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
2) Please make a comment specifically advising on if there was an improvement
or not.
3) Please mark this report Status New.

If it's not reproducible, please mark this as Invalid.
