[Bug 1613025] [NEW] Lock screen doesn't allow to switch language
Public bug reported: I have English and Hebrew languages on my computer, and to switch between them, the key binding is alt+shift. When my system is on the lock screen (not the switch account screen, lock screen), sometimes I can't switch languages. I'm trying to switch from Hebrew to English to type in my password, and when I hit alt+shift, the lock screen suddenly disappears, and I see my screen for a second, then my screen goes black for a second, and I go back to the lock screen. The language is still on Hebrew, and I still can't change it to English. To bypass it, I can either change the language using the mouse, or to hit "switch account" with the mouse and then I can log back in. [Bug 1084403] Re: no support for gpgsig tags
Adding a note to mention that this bug makes is quite difficult to use the PPA with Github repositories. I wanted to try to build my own .deb for Jabref, so I started by trying to import the code from the Jabref github pages. Here is where I got to: https://code.launchpad.net/~jdpipe/jabref/debian However, when importing from Github, there is an error from Launchpad, specifically from "/srv/importd.launchpad.net/production/launchpad- rev-18169/bzrplugins/git/mapping.py" line 334, where a 'gpgsig' commit field seems to have triggered some kind of error. A little surprised by this... surely other people are importing code from Github? [Bug 1613021] [NEW] mp4tags sets wrong value and mp4info expects wrong value for explicit rating
Public bug reported: mp4tags -X explicit somefile.m4a Sets the rtng atom to 4, not 1 as it should be. Similarly using mp4info on a file with the correct rtng of 1 gives: Content Rating: UNDEFINED(1) This should obviously be marked as explicit. The confusion can come from how iTunes displays rtng. Missing the rtng atom or having a value of 0 are treated the same. A value of 2 displays the [clean] graphic next to the track title in track listing, but not in the player status, Info Editor dialog, or in the iOS music player. Any value greater than 2 displays the [explicit] graphic in that same manner as the [clean] graphic, but only a value of 1 also displays the red [E] in the player status, the Info Editor dialog, and in the iOS music player. Therefore while a value of 4 may display as explicit in some places, it is not treated as explicit in that same way as a value of 1 is. In fact any value other than 1 will allow iTunes and iOS to play the track when Restrict Explicit is enabled. As such the fact that iTunes displays values greater than 2 as explicit, and the fact that mp4v2 assumes a value of 4 is explicit, is a bug. [Bug 1584118] Re: 16.04 incorrectly installs openjdk-9 to satisfy java8-runtime dependency
Jonas, thank you for your contribution. > I am not involved with Puppet. I just linked to them > as an example. But your suggestion doesn't work since Actually, it does work just fine and will install OpenJDK 8 *if* the user has not installed OpenJDK 9 before (otherwise OpenJDK 9 will satisfy the java8|9-runtime dependencies). In order to guarantee that OpenJDK 8 is installed, it's better to drop javaX-runtime references altogether and instead use: Depends: default-jre-headless | openjdk-7-jre-headless | openjdk-8-jre-headless > the problem is that Java9 is the default java8-runtime > which is installed if you don't have java installed > already. That is because both OpenJDK 8 and OpenJDK 9 packages provide the java8-runtime, but as openjdk-9-jre has a higher version it is the "preferred" install. Since dpkg 1.17.11 [1] a virtual package in "Provides:" can be versioned, allowing a "Depends:" on a virtual package to also be versioned. I will investigate if and when we can start versioning the virtual packages of both OpenJDK 8 and 9. Please read the comment #33 in [1] to understand how that works. > We went a different route to work around this: > https://github.com/neo4j/neo4j/commit/874c8da6bcb7b227b7451c06e4678924abc93800 The issue I see is that a "Conflicts: java9-runtime-headless, java9-runtime" entry will force the user to select either that package (in this example, neo4j) OR OpenJDK 9. Using such clause is also the wrong approach regarding Debian's policy [2]: "Neither Breaks nor Conflicts should be used unless two packages cannot be installed at the same time or installing them both causes one of them to be broken or unusable. Having similar functionality or performing the same tasks as another package is not sufficient reason to declare Breaks or Conflicts with that package." ie. having OpenJDK 9 installed does *not* cause neo4j to be broken as it is possible to have another OpenJDK version installed at the same time and use that to run neo4j. [Bug 1558480] Re: Make Wine packages synced from Debian
I've now got two solutions (tested in Debian with rebuilt Ubuntu packages) for an upgrade path from src:wine1.6 (1:1.6.2-0ubuntu15) to either the Debian packages src:wine (1.8.3-3) or src:wine-development (1.9.16-1). After a transition (until including the next 18.04) the Debian packages might theoretically be synced. - Both make src:wine1.6 ship only transitional packages (based on ginggs' previous attempt). - Both work with "apt dist-upgrade" and uninstall the old wine metapackage. - There are minor unrelated TODOs in the changelog. I've pushed the proposals to my git repository at github[1] and uploaded to 2 separate PPAs. Check the launchpad sites to see which versions you need from git. NOTE: wine-development is the same for both versions, but currently only uploaded to one repo. Unfortunately src:wine-development fails to build because of a new cups version (but ginggs told me that this is fixed in the next version) and src:wine fails, too (someone needs to investigate). [1]: https://github.com/jre-wine/wine git branches: jre.stretch/Ubuntu.src.wine jre/Ubuntu.src.wine.development jre/wine1.6-transition For building the packages I made the following changes: * Use unversioned sonames in debian/scripts/sonames2elf so that dpkg-shlibdeps can find libGL.so in Ubuntu. * Don't build on armhf. 1.) Transition to src:wine-development - This switches users to the *development branch* from winehq, but that might be not wanted for these packages, especially in a LTS! Up for discussion! - The recently implemented Debian alternatives system makes sure that the commands can be used without any suffix, e.g. /usr/bin/wine. - "apt install wine" installs Debian's wine *next to* wine-development. The system defaults to use src:wine's commands then. https://launchpad.net/~jre-phoenix/+archive/ubuntu/transition+wine1.6 +wine-development 2.) Transition to src:wine - src:wine: - Rename binary package wine -> wine-stable - Additionally create a native src:wine1.6-transition: - Package wine depends wine-stable - Not needed for the transition itself, but to make sure that "apt install wine" installs the default src:wine. https://launchpad.net/~jre- phoenix/+archive/ubuntu/transition+wine1.6+wine So a transition to src:wine would be cleaner, but put a higher burden on the maintainers the next 2 years (these changes wouldn't be in Debian). There are a few (not much) changes to d/control.in and d/rules necessary, and some files need to be renamed. Don't know how this works with the Ubuntu merging. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1558480 Title: Make Wine packages synced from Debian To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine/+bug/1558480/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

@Ikuya: I found that gnome-settings-daemon 3.18, which is in the Xenial archive, also overrides those two variables. So my guess is that you had 3.20 on your Xenial installation. [Bug 1613008] [NEW] Ub 16.10 - grub writes invalid search entry in grub.cfg
Public bug reported: Description:Ubuntu Yakkety Yak (development branch) Release:16.10 grub-efi_2.02~beta2-36ubuntu10_amd64.deb grub-efi-amd64-signed_1.73+2.02~beta2-36ubuntu10_amd64.deb grub-efi-amd64-bin_2.02~beta2-36ubuntu10_amd64.deb grub-efi-amd64_2.02~beta2-36ubuntu10_amd64.deb I had InsydeH20 setup "load file", grubx64.efi.signed, and at the grub prompt I tested search, search.fs_uuid, search.fs_file, and search.label. The old search line in grub.cfg is a bug! You will not notice anything wrong in the result, if at grub prompt you search with the expectation of seeing (hd0,msdos1) because search will always echo that default back to you as if it did a search, when it did nothing. Try looking for uuid/file/label for (hd0,msdos2) or another partition number higher than the first partition. Broken! All of these "search --nofloppy" grub.cfg lines are broken in several different ways including the "=" not working anymore: search --nofloppy --fs-uuid [uuid] --set=root the new, working syntax goes like this: search -n -u [uuid] -s root That's the bug. 16.10 64-bit just installed grub and Ubuntu nicely in efi mode, then reboot bsod due to the bad search line in grub.cfg. ** Affects: grub2 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: efi grub grub.cfg grub2 iso multi-boot uefi -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1613008 Title: Ub 16.10 - grub writes invalid search entry in grub.cfg To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/grub2/+bug/1613008/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1037402] Re: JACK audio source: "Improper window specification" (exit status 2816)
The window size out of bounds is caused by a bug at rmd_parseargs.c:197 That line should read something like... POPT_ARG_STRING | RMD_USE_JACK_EXTRA_FLAG, &arg_return->use_jack, RMD_ARG_USE_JACK, This is only an issue if you use the --use-jack argument There is also another typo at rmd_parseargs.c:115 And that line should read... { "y", 'y', I checkout the latest code, made these changes, compiled and everything worked. I'm too lazy to make an official patch. [Bug 1613000] [NEW] Gallons/Quarts/Pints to Litres conversion is incorrect
Public bug reported: The conversion is to/from US measures, yet this is not mentioned, and the conversion factors are wrong for Imperial measures as used here in the UK. I suggest: 1. [Bug 1610434] Re: Ubuntu GNOME Trusty HWE upgrade fails to install libwayland-egl1-mesa-lts-xenial
I have no idea why I had that previous failure. I've since run two more tests. One was a repeat test beginning with a fresh install of Ubuntu GNOME 14.04.3 i386 (just like above) and it worked fine. I ran another test beginning with a fresh install of Ubuntu GNOME 14.04.2 amd64 and it also worked just fine. I'm going to run one additional test beginning with 14.04.4 just to be sure, but I think that one failure must have been a fluke - or something I did wrong. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1610434 Title: Ubuntu GNOME Trusty HWE upgrade fails to install libwayland-egl1-mesa- lts-xenial To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/update-manager/+bug/1610434/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1514474] Re: package tex-common 6.04 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Here is a modified postinst script for tex-common that did the job for me. However I do not know if it is a correct fix or just a work around (I did just remove the incorrect option "--no-error-if-no-engine=luajittex" that may have been intended as usefull in some cases) ** Attachment added: "modified post-inst script" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tex-common/+bug/1514474/+attachment/4720369/+files/postinst -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1514474 Title: package tex-common 6.04 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tex-common/+bug/1514474/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1514474] Re: package tex-common 6.04 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
It seems there is a faulty parameter in the call to fmtutils : fmtutil: unknown option `--no-error-if-no-engine=luajittex'; try fmtutil --help if you need it. It should not be that difficult to fix... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1514474 Title: package tex-common 6.04 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/tex-common/+bug/1514474/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
