[Bug 1609772] Re: python-z3 package doesn't work, can't import z3

2016-08-27 Thread Abhishek
Adding __init__.py fixes the problem but then I've to use `from z3.z3
import *` rather than `from z3 import *`. The proper fix would be, as
noted by OP, install the z3*.py at top level.

Interestingly, in lp v4.4.0-2 of the package, the changelog
(https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/z3/4.4.0-2) mentions adding
__init__.py but it isn't included in the amd64 .deb.

[Bug 1604313] Re: Ubuntu 16.04: system freezes instead of suspend after undocking

2016-08-27 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
brandon211, the next step is to fully commit bisect from kernel 4.4.0-22
to 4.4.0-28 in order to identify the last good kernel commit, followed
immediately by the first bad one. This will allow for a more expedited
analysis of the root cause of your issue. Could you please do this
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ?

Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit
bisecting.

Also, the kernel release names are irrelevant for the purposes of
bisecting.

After the offending commit (not kernel version) has been identified,
then please mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1617696] [NEW] Maximize button instead unmaximizes window after tiling

2016-08-27 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Public bug reported:

1) lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS
Release:16.04

2) apt policy compiz
compiz:
  Installed: 1:0.9.12.2+16.04.20160801.3-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:0.9.12.2+16.04.20160801.3-0ubuntu1

500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu xenial/main i386 Packages

Please see attached Bug Demo.pdf for keyboard click-for-click
instructions with screenshots.

3) What is expected to happen is start with a Firefox window maximized.
Notice at the top left of the window three buttons from left to right:
Close, Minimize, and Unmaximize. Secondary click the window and notice
the same options in the menu.

Next, click Super+Left to tile the window to the left side of the
screen. Notice how in the top left, the buttons from left to right are
Close, Minimize, and Maximize. Secondary click the window, and notice
the same options.

Next, at the top left of the window click the Maximize button. It should
maximize the window.

4) Instead, what happens is it unmaximizes the window so that the top
left buttons aren't visible. Move the window so the buttons are visible,
and secondary click it. Notice the menu has the same options as the
buttons: Close, Minimize, and Maximize. Click the Maximize button. Now
the window is maximized.

This is not reproducible in a Guest session with either GNOME Flashback
(Compiz) or GNOME Flashback (Metacity). So, it may be correlated to the
specific configurations within CompizConfig Settings Manager.

WORKAROUND: Alt+Space > Maximize when the window unexpectedly
unmaximizes.

[Bug 1617691] [NEW] do-release-upgrade daemontools-run fatal error

2016-08-27 Thread brian.mor...@recurse.net
Public bug reported:

It's not clear where the bug is in this, but I was doing a LTS release
upgrade and svscan was already installed and running, but when the
upgrade tried to set up the new one the old one was still running so it
failed with a fatal error. Even after manually editing inittab to
disable svscanboot and killing the old one it would always restart and
the dpkg reconfigure would never complete successfully. Once I rebooted
the system, then everything was working and the reconfigure completed
without an issue.

Here is the end of the console output for the upgrade:

[Bug 1586492] Re: update-manager does not update all available packages

2016-08-27 Thread Jeremy Bicha
jeanjean84, just create a file in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d/ with that line.

PhasedUpdates is an Ubuntu design decision for update-manager. If an
update has no problems, it will be fully phased in about 2 days, which I
think is pretty quick. Therefore, I'll probably close this bug.

[Bug 1617542] Re: python-mapnik built without cairo support

2016-08-27 Thread Bas Couwenberg
The cairo support has been fixed in Debian with python-mapnik
(1:0.0~20160412-5b015f2-1).

Upstream has fixed the cairo support for Python 3 since python-mapnik
(1:0.0~20160531-f65767a-1).

A backport of the latter is probably a better idea, if Ubuntu doesn't
want to provide that. Host the package in the OpenStreetMap PPA.

[Bug 1210607] Re: Scientific Notation not given proper order of operations

2016-08-27 Thread siuyin
The problem is 1*10^2 is treated at two separate numbers or tokens.
In scientific notation 1e02 is treated at one token.

Thus 1e02/1e02 = 1

but 1*10^2/1*10^2 = 1*10^4

Hope this clarifies.

[Bug 1617677] [NEW] package tex-common 6.04 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2016-08-27 Thread Robert Belcher
Public bug reported:

I had just powered up and got this along with other error messages
boxes. I suspect this comes from a failed update from Ubuntu Studio
14.02 to what I thought was Ubuntu Studio 16.02. On failure, the
message I got said it was returning my system to previous version but I
suspect not everything went back.

[Bug 1617675] [NEW] Evolution will not connect to Gmail

2016-08-27 Thread Thomas Sisson
Public bug reported:

You're going to say this is not a bug. You may call it a feature request
or any of many other not-a-bug issues. However, Evolution is locked into
Gnome and many of the features and abilities of Gnome. I can use
Thunderbird with no problem, but I can only use Evolution calendar in
Gnome. (Is Gnome trying to be Microsoft?)

Anyway, we all know the issue. Evolution is buggy at best. Evolution
will not connect to Gmail or Google Apps. It won't let me access my
Google Calendar if I cannot access my email. This could be separated as
well, but it's not at this time. Google uses OAuth, and you have to live
under a rock to know it. I have gone through all the steps to allow an
insecure application to access Gmail, but Evolution spontaneously
decides I'm offline because it does not receive the proper response from
Google Mail servers.

Please fix it, or at least untie Evolution from Gnome.

By the way, fixing it in a later version is not a fix. If you are using
an unfixed version and the fixed version is not available for the
version of Ubuntu one is using, it's not fixed.

Getting off my soapbox.

Thanks

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

2016-08-27 Thread Seth Arnold
Interesting; I don't think I've ever seen this control panel page
before. Mine has "Never prompt or start programs on media insertion"
checked. I wonder if this is the default or not?

Thanks

2016-08-27 Thread Seth Arnold
Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 665978] Re: Slow Printing

2016-08-27 Thread roland burley
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 668800 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/668800

Hi,

1.) Brother MFC-J5910DW printer/scanner (Linux supported by Brother)
2.) Ubuntu 16.04 LTS 64-bit

Had the slow print problem in 14.04 LTS 64-bit, now upgraded and it's
got worse. Now running 30+ mins waiting time for first print of a one
page .pdf.

I am leaving overnight but I am not hopeful.

Given all the other similar problems listed on the net, this looks like
a generic, widespread issue.

[Bug 1617632] [NEW] System entirely freezes--keyboard, mouse no use

2016-08-27 Thread Peter Brandon
Public bug reported:

I recently upgraded to the xenial LTS hardware enablement stack for
14.04. Wily was working like a charm. Now, periodically my system
freezes. My mouse stops working (doesn't even get power), keyboard is
unresponsive (though it is getting power, as indicated when I switch my
mouse to the keyboard usb slot, still mouse doesn't work). Ctrl-alt-F4
etc. do not switch me to an alternate terminal. I have to do a hard
shut down. Everything works fine after reboot, till the next system
freeze. I wonder if doing an upgrade to 16.04 will solve this issue or
make matters worse.

[Bug 1001550] Re: LibreOffice Calc causes high CPU usage in Xorg when displaying "marching ants"

2016-08-27 Thread Grizzly
It's there (again?) in LibreOffice 5.2.0.4 (from ppa as well as document
foundation build).

I am still on 14.04 because the update to 16.04 utterly failed, but
running xenial's kernel and NVIDIA proprietary driver nvidia-352.

see here:
- https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1308700

The Title should not even be marching ants - it's generally not usable,
possibly in the config NVIDIA proprietary driver and gnome, cinnamon or
unity.

I am now checking my bunch ov VMed distros for a usable libreOffice...

[Bug 1617628] [NEW] network indicator not work, completely gone

2016-08-27 Thread Kavoura
Public bug reported:

I tried to go online on Ubuntu phone, but it would not go online, although
phone connection available.
When selecting Flight mode, it was still connected to telephone network but not
internet.

After rebooting, the network indicator disappeared from my phone. I can no
longer make or receive calls or use it as a phone. Even after rebooting again
it does not come back.
So no network indicator there any more.

This is further to other serious issues recently, where web browser
stopped working, messaging app stopped working, now I cannot even use it
as a phone.

If this cannot be fixed would a complete Reset do the trick?

[Bug 1617616] Re: Can't install emacs-nox, config failed

2016-08-27 Thread Joe Wood
After some digging, I narrowed down the problem to install gnats-user
for emacs24. Why its creating a gnats user I really don't know.

run the command, as root
# dpkg --configure -a -D221 &> Dpkg-error-log

NB. Initially it tried to create a gnats directory in , which I did on
its behalf hoping this would solve the problem, but no joy. This is the
second run

[Bug 1617613] Re: error during installation

2016-08-27 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Reviewing your log files attached to this bug report it
seems that there is a problem with your installation media (CD/DVD).
You can verify the integrity of the Ubuntu ISO files you downloaded by
following the instructions at
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM. You might also retry
your installation with new media. In the event that is is not in fact
an error with your installation media please set the bug's status back
to New. Thanks and good luck!

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1617554] Re: package linux-image-generic 4.4.0.34.36 failed to install/upgrade: run-parts: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/zz-update-grub exited with return code 127

2016-08-27 Thread Steve Langasek
The error in your log is:

> Searching for GRUB installation directory ... found: /boot/grub
> /etc/default/grub: línea 11: splash: orden no encontrada
> run-parts: /etc/kernel/postinst.d/zz-update-grub exited with return code 127

This indicates that you have modified /etc/default/grub in a way that
means it is no longer a valid shell script. This is not a bug in
Ubuntu. You will need to correct this file and repeat the upgrade.

** Package changed: grub (Ubuntu) => grub2 (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1574347] Re: [SRU] Re-read the link type if the name changed

2016-08-27 Thread Peter Amaral
Please reopen this defect and mark In Progress or other appropriate
status. This bug still affects me on Ubuntu 16.04.1, all latest updates
applied. The fix released does not work.

$ lspci | grep Ne
09:02.0 Network controller: Ralink corp. RT2561/RT61 rev B 802.11g

I also lose connectivity intermittently after restarting NetworkManager.
Please let us know what information we can provide that will help
resolve this defect, it is extremely frustrating and significantly
breaks the user's experience in Ubuntu.
