[Bug 1621340] [NEW] 'multipath -r' causes /dev/mapper/ being removed
Public bug reported: "multipath -r" causes the /dev/mapper/ to disappear momentarily, which leads to some issue in consumer applications as such OpenStack. After some investigation, I found that /dev/mapper/ was deleted by udev during the reload, and it was re-created soon later by multipathd (livdevmapper code of cause). Detailed findings are as follows: For reload in domap (rename as well), case ACT_RELOAD: r = dm_addmap_reload(mpp, params); if (r) r = dm_simplecmd_noflush(DM_DEVICE_RESUME, mpp->alias, 0, MPATH_UDEV_RELOAD_FLAG); break; it passes 0 to dm_simplecmd_noflush as argument for needsync, which makes dm_task_set_cookie call being skipped in dm_simplecmd, if (udev_wait_flag && !dm_task_set_cookie(dmt, &cookie, ((conf->daemon)? DM_UDEV_DISABLE_LIBRARY_FALLBACK : 0) | udev_flags)) { dm_udev_complete(cookie); goto out; } because of the short-circuit evaluation. Thus _do_dm_ioctl in libdevmapper will add DM_UDEV_DISABLE_DM_RULES_FLAG flag to dmi->event_nr, and that will eventually be used in the udev rules (55-dm.rules), ENV{DM_UDEV_DISABLE_DM_RULES_FLAG}!="1", ENV{DM_NAME}=="?*", SYMLINK+="mapper/$env{DM_NAME}" Since the DM_UDEV_DISABLE_DM_RULES_FLAG is set, the rule will not match. As a result the link is removed. ** Affects: multipath-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Liang Chen (cbjchen) Status: In Progress ** Changed in: multipath-tools (Ubuntu) Status: New => In Progress -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1621340 Title: 'multipath -r' causes /dev/mapper/ being removed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/multipath-tools/+bug/1621340/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1621336] [NEW] snapd.boot-ok.service hangs eternally on cloud image upgrades
Public bug reported: I reproducibly run into an eternal hang when deploying services with Juju, when it prepares a new xenial testbed. The current xenial cloud image does not have the latest snapd, so snapd gets dist-upgraded: Preparing to unpack .../snapd_2.14.2~16.04_amd64.deb ... Warning: Stopping snapd.service, but it can still be activated by: snapd.socket Unpacking snapd (2.14.2~16.04) over (2.13) ... Setting up snapd (2.14.2~16.04) ... [...] hangs The postinst tries to start snapd.boot-ok.service on upgrade: |-cloud-init(311)-+-apt-get(577)---dpkg(845)---snapd.postinst(846)---perl(919)---systemctl(922) | `-sh(354)---tee(355) root 922 0.0 0.0 25316 1412 pts/0S+ 06:09 0:00 /bin/systemctl start snapd.boot-ok.service This hangs eternally because: - cloud-init's dist-upgrade runs *during* the boot process, so that the system is not fully booted yet when this happens (see bug 1576692); thus multi-user.target is *not* yet active - snapd.boot-ok.service is After=multi-user.target - "systemctl start" is synchronous by default, i. e. it waits until the service is started unless you use --no-block. Thus snapd.postinst waits on snapd.boot-ok.service waits on multi- user.target waits on cloud-init to finish waits on snapd.postinst to finish. I think conceptually you shouldn't start snapd.boot-ok.service in the postinst; if the system is already booted (manual dist-upgrade) it should already be running, and if it does get upgraded during boot (with cloud-init) then you shouldn't pretend that booting is already finished. So I suggest to use dh_installinit with --no-scripts for snapd.boot- ok.service. ** Affects: snapd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1621336 Title: snapd.boot-ok.service hangs eternally on cloud image upgrades To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/+bug/1621336/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1621322] [NEW] xpad not drawing titlebars in Lubuntu.
Public bug reported: To reproduce run xpad on Lubuntu 16.10 and notice that the not does not have a titlebar now or client side minimize maximize or close buttons. Description:Ubuntu Yakkety Yak (development branch) Release:16.10 xpad: Installed: 4.8.0-1 Candidate: 4.8.0-1 Version table: *** 4.8.0-1 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu yakkety/universe amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I expected xpad to have either a titlebar or the new version to have client side decorations that allow it to work minimized or maximized with the mouse. I then pressed alt +space to try and see if it was just undecorated and decorated would get it how I wanted so that is not a working workaround. I am not sure if this broken by gtk 3.20. It's worth noting that this is unlikely to be a problem with Juju 2.0 as we no longer have all the agents in each environment logging to rsyslogd. Re: [Bug 1580882] Re: [Intel Broadwell HDMI, Digital Out] Sound like half speed after suspend
I don't see anything obvious in those logs and I can't reproduce... You could try updating your ALSA drivers, as descirbed here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingALSA/DKMS This could very well make a difference since xenial is 4 major kernel versions behind, and the problem may very well fixed in newer ALSA driver code. I think this is because the modesetting X driver is missing DRI2 page flip support, which just got added to xserver git master. [Bug 1610591] Re: Video acceleration regression for Radeon Xpress 200M (r300) in xorg-lts-xenial & xorg-lts-wily
well, 2.6 _is_ 7.5.0... so you just proved that it's not the -ati driver causing it. The diff to 2.5 was: c74de9fec13fac2 PRIME: Don't advertise offload capabilities when acceleration is disabled 636a6382f80412a Remove duplicate OPTION_PAGE_FLIP entry c854b4479ec5122 radeon: bump version post release none of which have anything to do with your usecase, so if you saw a difference in behaviour then that's funny, but not caused by the driver. [Bug 1525735] Re: X server fails to start under regular user in Xenial
Mea culpa. I think I had 2 different (albeit similar) bug reports open in different tabs and posted to the wrong one. [Bug 1621265] Re: lose monitor during boot up if I don't add 'nomodeset' to kernel options
seeker5528, in order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please keep in mind the following: 1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder). 2) The release names are irrelevant. 3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was released upstream. 4) Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may: 1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there. 2) Backup, or clone the primary install. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is the release candidate number if it exists. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically requested to do so. It is most helpful that after testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, you mark this report Status Confirmed. Lastly, to keep this issue relevant to upstream, please continue to test the latest mainline kernel as it becomes available. Thank you for your help. ** Tags added: latest-bios-1.4 ** Description changed: - If I connect my monitor to my computer with a VGA cable, I have to stop - at the grub menu and add 'nomodeset' to the kernel options with all the - 4.4.0-* kernels. - - If I do not add 'nomodeset' to the kernel options, my monitor goes + If I connect my monitor to my computer with a VGA cable my monitor goes blank, complains of no video signal, then goes to sleep as soon as the kernel attempts to enable mode setting.
