[Bug 987220] Re: [Dell Inspiron 1720] System does not power off reliably when "Shut Down" chosen from GUI

2016-09-19 Thread jose castellanos
I installed, from pendrive, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS in dell inspiron 1501
(with windows XP), the windows poweroff normally, but ubuntu do not: it
goes shutdown apparently normally but finally do not power off the
labtop.

The last lines reported are: All fylesystems unmounted Deactivating
swaps All swaps deactivated Detaching loop devices All loop devices
detached Detachig DM devices All DM devices detached Powering off

and the labtop do not power off

Ther is a significant note in the previous lines before those lines:
Process 1043 (plymouthd) has benn marked to be ecluded form
killing...

I am new and no expert linux

[Bug 1622832] Re: package nvidia-367 367.44-0ubuntu0.16.04.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 10

2016-09-19 Thread Alberto Milone
The module failed to build against your custom built kernel:

Building for 4.8.0-rc5-alelic-00176-gd0acc7d and 4.8.0-rc6-alelic-00120-gda499f8

Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel:

Consult /var/lib/dkms/nvidia-367/367.44/build/make.log for more information.

This is not really supported.

By the way, the module can be built with my 4.8.0-11-generic kernel from
the unstable kernel PPA.

I am closing this bug report, as the use case is not really supported.

[Bug 1623579] Please test proposed package

2016-09-19 Thread Andy Whitcroft
Hello Michael, or anyone else affected,

Accepted snapd into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapd/2.15.2 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

This is a new version of snapd.

The changelog for 2.15.2 is available here
  https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/blob/2.15.2/debian/changelog, the raw
  git changelog is available here:
  https://github.com/snapcore/snapd/commits/2.15.1 (note that the debian
changelog is auto-generated from the merges of the git commits so there
is usually no need to look at the raw git commits).

The snappy team released a new 2.15.2 micro release that we want SRU
into xenial. The new process described in
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SnapdUpdates was used and we have done
integration-tests on the snappy images, autopkgtests on classic and unit
  tests.

The following automatic tests are run:
  - travis unit tests https://travis-ci.org/snapcore/snapd/branches (check for
2.15.2 here)
  - travis/spread based integration/system tests:
https://travis-ci.org/snapcore/snapd/branches (check for 2.15.2 here under
"spread")

The following additional tests were performed:

After installing the new snapd gnome-software was used:
  """
  - install "http" (snap) and remove it again

  All worked as expected.

Christopher,

Just for my clarification before updating anything. The BIOS is the
same/shared in Linux and W10? If so, then I cannot see why this will help
as there is no difference between the cards
 when running under W10.

Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1625068] [NEW] aethercast binaries disappeared from the system

2016-09-19 Thread Michael Zanetti
Public bug reported:

After update to 182, the aethercast binaries disappeared from the
system, leaving the external display page in system-settings broken.

phablet@ubuntu-phablet:~$ system-image-cli -i
current build number: 182
device name: turbo
channel: ubuntu-touch/rc-proposed/meizu-pd.en
last update: 2016-09-18 20:11:35
version version: 182
version ubuntu: 20160917
version device: 20160824-d33b825
version custom: 20160831-992-8-12

UPDATE: I've been told the change to make aethercast an option suggestion in
system-settings caused to not have aethercast pulled in in the image builds.

It seems like there are 2 fixes needed:
a) Seed aethercast in relevant phone images
b) fix system-settings to hide the external display section when aethercast is
not around. Currently the button is there but just does nothing.

[Bug 1616413] Re: [OptiPlex 7040, Realtek ALC3234, Speaker, Internal] No sound at all

2016-09-19 Thread Suvam Mukherjee
Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. Currently, the following are the physical
connections to the tower: HDMI connection with monitor, USB connections
for keyboard and mouse, and of course the power.

I am still not getting any sound either through the built in speakers,
or when I plug in headphones.

I have attached the log with this file.

Thanks for all the help, and please let me know if you need further
information.

[Bug 1577596] Re: ntpd not started when using ntpdate

2016-09-19 Thread Robie Basak
I think that this belongs to the class of bugs we discussed on ubuntu-
devel recently[1].

The summary is:

1. ntpdate is deprecated
2. Various patches got polished, tested and provided to Debian but not yet
picked up
3. We are unwilling to add more delta to Debian for a deprecated binary

So if they are merged in Debian we will pick it up in the next Release,
but unlikely do an SRU for it.

Therefore, I'm marking this bug as Won't Fix for the ntp package in
Ubuntu, and encourage users to use systemd-timesyncd instead.

If there is a fix that doesn't involve adding a delta to Ubuntu for the
ntpdate package, then we can do that, however.

[Bug 1625058] [NEW] Searches containing a hyphen in a save dialog triggers a SQLParse Error

2016-09-19 Thread Tom
Public bug reported:

I discovered a strange issue with the save dialogue. if you search for
the string 'a-bc' in a save modal it throws an SQL parse error (See
attached screenshot). This appears to be for any string with a hyphen.

The modal in my case is opened by Firefox.

Could this be a SQL injection vulnerability?

[Bug 1625046] [NEW] System Settings cannot be closed or navigated through

2016-09-19 Thread Elvijs
Public bug reported:

This started as I tried to update my password using the "Security &
Privacy" screen from "System Settings". As I clicked on "change
password" (don't remember the precise wording and cannot navigate to it
now) and expected to be taken to a password change screen, I was instead
taken back to the top-level "System Settings" view. Now when I try to
navigate to settings sub-views (e.g. "Appearance", "Brightness & Lock"
etc., I get a view flicker, but am not taken to the requested view).

Moreover, I can't seem to be able to close the "System Settings" view
now. When I click "x", it disappears, but a new one opens up in its
place.

[Bug 1625044] [NEW] unable to connect to secured install on trusty from xenial client

2016-09-19 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

This was detected after we switch the hosts used to openstack charm
amulet tests from trusty->xenial.

The rabbitmq-server charms exercise messaging from the test client; this
includes validating SSL functionality and configuration. Prior to the
switch, trusty clients (using pika) could quite happily validate SSL for
all rabbitmq-server ubuntu targets (through to xenial/yakkety).

With the switch to xenial, the connections get reset when SSL is enable
early in the TLS setup lifecycle; this is reproducable outside of pika
using the openssl client directly:

  openssl s_client -connect 10.5.18.72:5671 -tls1 -state -debug

I also (on the advice of the security team) ran the http://testssl.sh
script against RabbitMQ - with Xenial or Yakkety hosts, it all looks OK,
but against a Trusty host, the SSL/TLS connections never actually
establish correctly. Again from a trusty client, testssl.sh runs OK.

I suspect that this is something todo with the erlang version in trusty
(16.b3) vs xenial (>= 18):

  https://www.rabbitmq.com/which-erlang.html

The RabbitMQ website indicates that 17.0 is requires to use TLS/SSL
reliably (smells like a root cause to me).

[Bug 1625043] [NEW] tomcat7 package not compliant with tomcat specification

2016-09-19 Thread Thomas Cashman
Public bug reported:

Deploying a war on tomcat7 in xenial using JDK7 results with the
following error:

java.lang.NoSuchMethodError:
java.util.concurrent.ConcurrentHashMap.keySet()Ljava/util/concurrent/ConcurrentHashMap$KeySetView

After investigation I found that the tomcat7 package was compiled with
JDK8, as noted by the MANIFEST.MF files ->

Created-By: 1.8.0_91-8u91-b14-0ubuntu4~16.04.1-b14

Tomcat7 should support Java 6 + 7 per this page ->
http://tomcat.apache.org/whichversion.html

I'm not sure if the .deb package is built from source or if this is a
issue I should log with Apache Tomcat?

[Bug 1382778] Re: Filename typo in contest/trusty.xml results in blank wallpaper

2016-09-19 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I verified that u-g-wallpapaers-trusty and -utopic are correct in Ubuntu
GNOME 16.04 LTS.

I had some unrelated trouble with my 14.04 install so I haven't verified
the package there yet.

I'll look into whether we're doing any unnecessary spinning while
retrieving remote scopes. Unfortunately however, we have seen this
behaviour before but it seemed to be limited to specific HW+SW
configurations (E.g. Bug #1496875).

[Bug 418242] Re: Incorrect call to output plugins (with persistent error message) on copy

2016-09-19 Thread Antoni
I also experience this nasty bug. It is present for many years now. Up to
Ubuntu 16.04 I used the script from comment #37
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/418242/comments/37
but now it stopped working. Hence I updated this shell script following the
remarks in comment #74
https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/418242/comments/74
It is workaround, but for me it works perfectly. My Inkscape version is
0.91r13725 on Ubuntu 16.04. I hope it will help some of you.
In general it is much better to manually edit the files which generate these
nasty errors as is explained in comment #74, but in my case I need to do this
on more then 10 different desktops, hence the script is much more useful.

[Bug 1625028] [NEW] dpdk autotests should record the DKMS build results as artifacts

2016-09-19 Thread Andy Whitcroft
Public bug reported:

The DPDK dkms package test should include the dkms make logs in its
results so that a failure to build is detected and logs are retained.
The autodep8 dkms test includes the following snippet to achieve this:

  if [ -d /var/lib/dkms ]; then
  (cd /var/lib/dkms; find -name "make.log" -print0 | xargs -0 tar c) >
"$ADT_ARTIFACTS/$pkg-make-logs.tar"

It's what "journal+console" does, yes -- it's similar to "tee".

libvirt: Prevent block live migration with tunnelled flag

libvirt will report "Selecting disks to migrate is not
implemented for tunneled migration" while doing block migration
with VIR_MIGRATE_TUNNELLED flag.

This patch does 2 changes:

1. Raise exception.MigrationPreCheckError if block live migration with
with mapped volumes and tunnelled flag on.
2. Remove migrate_disks from params of migrateToURI3 in case of
tunnelled block live migration w/o mapped volumes since we want
to copy all disks to destination
