[Bug 1613561] Re: [MIR] thumbnailer
Another option: it could simply a race that shows up in the train only because the builders are VMs (I believe) and the underlying hardware might be loaded more heavily. I'd expect CPU and I/O timings to be different in the train than on my M10. So, it is still possible that this is simply a race QDBus that gets tickled only when we run the tests in the train. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1613561 Title: [MIR] thumbnailer To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/thumbnailer/+bug/1613561/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1613561] Re: [MIR] thumbnailer
I install a yakkety arm64 chroot on my M10 and built the thumbnailer. The tests run fine, over and over. I do not see any failures. dpkg reports: libc6:arm64 2.24-0ubuntu1 arm64 gcc-66.2.0-3ubuntu15 arm64 libqt5dbus5:arm645.6.1+dfsg-3ubuntu5~1 arm64 Is it possible that there is a problem with the builder we are running this on? [Bug 1574324] Re: pulseaudio crashes when connecting to bluetooth headphones (due to ubuntu changes?)
Sorry, for seeing this one a bit late. First of all the relevant problem is ( 15.152| 0.000) E: [pulseaudio] volume.c: Assertion 'pa_channels_valid(channels)' failed at pulse/volume.c:74, function pa_cvolume_set(). Aborting. Which basically means there is a volume level being set for an invalid channel (simply a number which is out of range once passed to pa_cvolume_set). Looking into the code the function source_set_volume_cb in src/modules/bluetooth/module-bluez5-device.c (line 961) calls pa_cvolume_set and also sink_set_volume_cb (line 1187). Each gets called for either when a source or sink is added to the device and the profile being used is PA_BLUETOOTH_PROFILE_HEADSET_HEAD_UNIT. The sample_spec struct being used to provide the channel is configured in transport_config which is according to the log file attached in comment #1 never called before the abort happens. The function transport_acquire is called before and returns an error according to: ( 14.894| 0.000) D: [pulseaudio] module-bluez5-device.c: Acquiring transport /org/bluez/hci0/dev_44_5E_F3_B4_07_29/fd49 ( 14.894| 0.000) I: [pulseaudio] backend-native.c: doing connect ( 15.151| 0.257) E: [pulseaudio] backend-native.c: connect(): Function not implemented That the connect() syscall returns "Function no implemented" is suspicious. If we're going further in the log file we see ( 15.152| 0.000) D: [pulseaudio] backend-native.c: Transport /org/bluez/hci0/dev_44_5E_F3_B4_07_29/fd49 available for profile headset_head_unit which happens inside src/modules/bluetooth/backend-native.c in function profile_new_connection when we get called back from bluez if the HFP profile you get connected with the remote side. The next line is the interesting one: ( 15.152| 0.000) D: [pulseaudio] backend-native.c: RFCOMM << AT+VGS=8 This actually comes from set_speaker_gain in src/modules/bluetooth /backend-native.c line 276 and is called by sink_set_volume_cb in src/modules/bluetooth/module-bluez5-device.c (line 1187) which is called subsequently from add_sink -> init_profile. As set_speaker_gain prints out the string "RFCOMM << AT+VGS=8" AFTER it has the set volume in sink_set_volume_cb the first call to pa_cvolume_set already happened and went through without the assert in pa_cvolume_set failing for an incorrect channel. The only left candidate then is source_set_volume_cb but that one is using the same u->sample_spec.channels value as we used before and it shouldn't have changed in between. What somebody should now look into: Add pa_log_debug lines before and after the actual pa_cvolume_set calls in src/modules/bluetooth/module- bluez5-device.c so that we can verify which is actually causing the abort. These should also print the value of u->sample_spec.channels. With that we have at least the line which is causing the abort and can then look into possible reasons why this is happening. I suspect the order of a specific code flow has change slightly with the SCO-over-PCM changes we did for Ubuntu Touch. Also it would be great if someone who removed the patches can provide a log file for pulseaudio in debug mode where the headset gets connected and no abort occurs. @Luke: Can you provide packages with the necessary changes so that people expiring the abort can install these and provide new log files? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1574324 Title: pulseaudio crashes when connecting to bluetooth headphones (due to ubuntu changes?) [Bug 1618391] Re: Brightness is too strong
> In experimenting with this I noticed a typo in the source when getting this > parameter, so the min > will always be 10 on every system in spite of the config. Thanks Pat, this is indeed a typo in repowerd. That being said, two things to note in relation to the "brightness is too strong": 1. The screenBrightnessSettingMininum config has no effect on autobrightness; it only affects the minimum value manually settable by the user. Autobrightness is governed by the curve specified in "config_autoBrightnessLcdBacklightValues" in the device specific config file (/usr/share/powerd/device_configs/config-default.xml) 2. By pure chance, this bug has no effect on E4.5 and allows an even darker setting on MX4 (not sure about PRO5) for the manual case, since it defaults to 10 for min brightness, whereas the actual config values for the aforementioned devices are 10 and 15 respectively. Suggested steps to improve the situation: * Fix typo in repowerd (assigned to me) * Change device specific config files to have lower minimum values for both (manual) brightness setting and the autobrightness curve. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1618391 Title: Brightness is too strong To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/canonical-devices-system-image/+bug/1618391/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1626350] Re: package initramfs-tools 0.122ubuntu8 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The version of update-initramfs that you likely have installed is unable to work on a persistent usb stick. You can resolve this issue by upgrading the version of casper on your system. This can be done via the commands: sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install casper Then performing the software update or installation that you were originally trying. If this does not resolve your bug please set its status back to New. [Bug 1626378] [NEW] Wifi Connection applet does not connect or save passwords with a comma
Public bug reported: I clicked on the WiFi connection applet, selected an access point, entered in a password that contained a comma, clicked Connect, then nothing happened. There was no error or attempt to connect. When trying to connect again, the previous password with a comma was not saved. However, incorrect password attempts that don't contain a comma are saved. The applet is nm-applet. When using nm-connection-editor, I can save the password that contains a comma. The next time I try to connect with the applet, the connection succeeds without prompting for a password. The problem is that I can't use the applet to enter in the password with a comma. I must use the connection editor. This was on Lubuntu. The WiFi access point was 2.4 GHz and used a WPA ASCII password that contains a comma. [Bug 1581713] Re: Ubuntu Software asks for an Ubuntu Single Sign-On account to remove a snap
Technically why this happens is gnome-software asks snapd to remove the snap. Since gnome-software is run as as user (i.e. not as root) it prompts gnome-software for authorization. The only method of getting authorization is to call 'snap login' which prompts for store credentials. What we actually want here is the equivalent of sudo. i.e. check if the user is an administrator and prompt them for their password. This would require snapd to have a "login-local" type concept that would return authorization without checking Ubuntu One credentials. I'll ask the Snappy team what their thoughts are on this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1581713 Title: Ubuntu Software asks for an Ubuntu Single Sign-On account to remove a snap To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-software/+bug/1581713/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1602243] Re: [16.10 FEAT] Upgrade Docker to newest version 1.12
Docker fails to start when the package from xenial-proposed is installed. The docker.socket unit is enabled but does not start. The package in yakkety works and is very similar, so I think this is probably a bug in something in yakkety (maybe init-system-helpers?) but something needs fixing in any case. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1602243 Title: [16.10 FEAT] Upgrade Docker to newest version 1.12 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-z-systems/+bug/1602243/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1626224] Re: [SRU] New stable micro release 2.18
Hello Sergio, or anyone else affected, Accepted snapcraft into xenial-proposed. The package will build now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/snapcraft/2.18 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug, mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. [Bug 1609898] Re: dhclient incorrectly assumes a /64 ipv6 prefix
** Description changed: [Impact] clients who get an ipv6 address from a dhcpv6 server assume the address has a /64 prefix, but that is not necessarily true, and if the subnet is different than /64 those clients will not be able to reach other addresses in that /64 prefix because the other systems are not on-link. This /64 assumption of dhclient effectively breaks the client networking for certain addresses. [Test Case] Set up a server with two interface nics, and one client connected to each of those interfaces. On the server, set up a ipv6 subnet on each interface, with a larger prefix than /64, e.g.: 2001:db8:0:0:1::/96 2001:db8:0:0:2::/96 configure dhcpv6 on the server, to provide ipv6 addresses on each interface. Set the server as the default ipv6 route for the clients. Allow the clients to get dhcpv6 ipv6 addresses from the server. The clients will each get a ipv6 address with a /64 prefix, due to the bug in dhclient. Try to ping (or otherwise communicate) between the clients. Since they have /64 prefixes, they think they are on-link with each other, but they are not, so they can't communicate. After the dhclient bug is fixed, repeat the above setup, and the clients will get /128 prefixes instead, and then will be able to communicate with each other, because they will route the traffic to each other through the server. - [Regression potential] + [Regression Potential] Non-standard (i.e. not /64) subnets served by dhcpv6 currently are broken, this fixes that. However, any ipv6 network configurations that rely on the previous incorrect assumed /64 behavior (as described here: https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5942#section-5) in order to allow dhcpv6 clients to communicate with other systems inside the subnet, but do not use RA to also provide clients with the actual prefix len, will break. To clarify: a server that provides clients with dhcpv6 addresses, but does not also provide the prefix len via RA, will change behavior; previously, all clients on the subnet could talk directly to each other, with this update the clients cannot talk to each other directly; all traffic between clients will be routed through the default gateway. Further, if the network does not provide a default gateway - for example a local network that is intended only for traffic between local servers - the clients will not be able to talk to each other at all. Note that such configurations *are* broken configurations, that just happened to work before because of incorrect dhcp client behavior; such configurations must be updated to perform RA to provide the prefix len to clients. - - [Other info] + [Other Info] This is fixed in debian: + https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=684009 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1609898 Title: dhclient incorrectly assumes a /64 ipv6 prefix To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/isc-dhcp/+bug/1609898/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
