[Bug 1581088] Re: Middle mouse (wheel-click) button stopped working after upgrade to 16.04

2016-10-13 Thread Sean
Logitec Mouse M185 works here again in 16.04 since kernel kernel 4.4.38
maybe one or two versions earlier. I discovered it by chance that it
works again.

[Bug 1629972] Re: networking stop incorrectly disconnects from (network) root filesystem

2016-10-13 Thread Martin Pitt
> ifdown -a --exclude=lo

Indeed, nicely spotted! So this would make a difference on machines
which still have "lo" in /etc/network/interfaces (which hasn't been
necessary/recommended since 2014), but I figure we still have too many
places (installer/cloud image builder etc.) which write that. So adding
--exclude=lo is correct for sure (even it might not completely fix this
bug).

[Bug 1633340] [NEW] package mysql-server-5.7 5.7.15-0ubuntu2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2016-10-13 Thread Ertan Günay
Public bug reported:

This started to happen after xenity upgrade (I guess)
My MySql data folder is different to "\var\lib\mysql"
So after each mysql upgrade,
apt gives me an error.
after that
I set "datadir" of mysql to "\var\lib\mysql"
than I complete mysql upgrade.
than I stop mysql service
than I change "datadir" to normal value
and last, I start the mysql service.
.
After this procedure, apt function completes the upgrade procedure.

[Bug 733349] Re: Minimize Application's Windows upon clicking its Launcher Icon

Fixed it for me with the help of

But it's hard to understand that this is not the standard behavior like on
trisquel and even Windows.
Good luck hitting the minimize button with your finger on the touch screen of
the 4k XPS13.

So how does a pool get imported, what triggers that if it's not block

[Bug 1227996] Re: [Lenovo IdeaPad Yoga 13] ubuntu doesn't know about Yoga screen rotation keycodes: atkbd serio0: Use 'setkeycodes e03e ' to make it known.

2016-10-13 Thread spencer
I am also having this issue. It started happening for me when I was
using ArchLinux during July of 2016; I was thinking about going back to
Ubuntu, so I re-installed Lubuntu over Arch. Low and Behold, the issue
persists.

My issue is worse in that usually the key(s) that will trigger this repeated
key is the arrow keys, which I frequently use to scroll up and down through man
pages, web pages, etc. However, when this occurs, my keyboard no longer
responds to input, and my mouse will start "falling" to whichever direction the
arrow key corresponds (down arrow repeat will cause my mouse cursor to
continuously move to the bottom of the screen). I noticed that my dmesg was
being spammed with this error too, and when I (temporarily) set the keycodes to
255, the issue persists, but the error message will go away from dmesg.
If my issue seems right for another new bug thread, please let me know.

I'll provide what everyone else has been providing -- welcome to provide
any information I can in order to address this bug.

$ cat /etc/issue
Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS \n \l

$ uname -a
Linux masq-Lu 4.4.0-43-generic #63-Ubuntu SMP Wed Oct 12 13:48:03 UTC 2016

# dmidecode -s bios-version && dmidecode -s bios-release-date

Or if anyone knows generally what might be messed up, I'm pretty
experienced using Linux, and I know some C... so I could theoretically
fix it myself (I would post any successes I had here).

Cheers

[Bug 1613158] Re: Booting with Nvidia GTX 970 hangs with an orange screen in kernels 4.7 and 4.8rc1 (but works with 4.4.0)

2016-10-13 Thread Ivan Larionov
I tried to purge nvidia proprietary drivers and boot with nouveau and
got exactly the same issue. The only difference is my screen is just
black.

Same errors in dmesg:
fifo: SCHED_ERROR 08 []

I use Nvidia GTX 970.

[Bug 1623585] Re: Toolbar is blank

2016-10-13 Thread Anders Kaseorg
pauljohn: You installed the packages in the wrong order. Since a
24.5+1-7ubuntu1 package, identical to mine modulo debian/changelog, is
in yakkety-proposed for architectures other than arm64 and ppc64el, the
easiest solution is to enable yakkety-proposed and let apt install them
for you.

Sorry, forgot to mention. I confirm this does solve the toolbar problem,
once you get it installed.

Installation required removing emacs24 and some other packages that
depended on it.

[Bug 1623585] Re: Toolbar is blank

2016-10-13 Thread pauljohn32
Hi. I never had the empty toolbar before Yakkety install today and I've
spent quite a bit of time re-discovering the solutions you list here.
I'm wrestling with the compiler errors from both emacs 25.1 and the 24.5
as distributed with Yakkety.

Can somebody explain how a package that does not build on Yakkety was
distributed with it? I thought that was impossible.

I've got the sources for the updates mentioned in #8 and am compiling. I
do confirm it does not crash at the same spot as the release version.
The new packages did compile.

However, the install hits some trouble. Do the errors below indicate
that some files have shifted between packages and so the install does
not easily upgrade?

[Bug 1633319] [NEW] memory leak in indicator-datetime

2016-10-13 Thread Jonathan Brier
Public bug reported:

After upgrading from 16.04 to 16.10 on the System76 Serval WS indicator-
datetime-service is consuming all the system memory from 3.7GB up to 32

process and indicator-datetime-service restarts and memory consumption
repeats until killed again. All swap memory is consumed in this pattern.

Unsure if this is an Emacs error or a user configuration error. If you
can follow up with information about how and where vietnamese-tcvn-unix

resolve this bug.

[Bug 1355454] Re: pantheon-files-plugin-dropbox missing dependency

2016-10-13 Thread Ash
The elementary-dropbox project(https://github.com/zant95/elementary-
dropbox) is working on loki but the purpose of the project isn't
integrating dropbox to pantheon-files. It just integrates dropbox to
wingpanel(makes dropbox appindicator show in wingpanel).

I have tested https://code.launchpad.net/~elementary-apps/pantheon-files
/pantheon-files-plugin-dropbox and after some fixes to makeit compile it
doesn't seem to work(neither emblems nor context menu items)

[Bug 1630063] Re: specific USB devices disconnect and don't reconnect

2016-10-13 Thread Bryan P
I was able to fix the issue by changing the IO_WATCHDOG_DELAY in ohci-
hcd.c from 250 msec to 275 msec. I suspect that the new timer wheel
based timers in 4.8 have exposed a bug in the ohci driver. Before the io
watchdog timer was set to 250 with 20 msecs of slack time. This is more
than likely just a hack work around but I'm able to use my usb
headphones now. Here's my diff

[Bug 1310186] Re: mediascanner prevents unmounting usb device

2016-10-13 Thread Michi Henning
It's difficult to see how to fix this. External devices are scanned
because people quite often use USB sticks or external drives with their
music collections.

I'm not sure whether it is even possible for mediascanner to find out
that some other arbitrary process has asked for a filesystem to be
unmounted. If so, the daemon could back off. If not, I don't know what
else it could/should do.

For what it's worth, placing a file called .nomedia into a directory
prevents scanning of that directory (and all its subdirectories).

[Bug 1631474] Please test proposed package

2016-10-13 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello scotte, or anyone else affected,

Accepted initramfs-tools into xenial-proposed. The package will build
now and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/initramfs-
tools/0.122ubuntu8.5 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 1574324] Re: pulseaudio crashes when connecting to bluetooth headphones (due to ubuntu changes?)

2016-10-13 Thread pcjason
Hi Luke,
I did a clean install of Ubuntu GNOME 16.04.1 just a few days ago. With the
Ubuntu-provided Pulseaudio packages, my Plantronics BackBeat Go 2 (PLT_BBTGO2)
bluetooth headphones would connect and then disconnect. I have now added your
PPA and confirmed that the headphones connect and stay connected. Oddly
enough, the headphone profile was set to "Analog" by default. Upon clicking
the dropdown to select the profile, "Analog" was not an option, and it
immediately auto-selected HSP/HFP. I then changed it to A2DP and I was able to
hear nice, high quality audio through my headphones! :)

Unfortunately, after turning the headphones off/on, the headphones
immediately reconnected and defaulted to the A2DP profile, but there was
no sound. I then changed the profile to HSP/HSF and heard low quality
audio. Changing back to A2DP resulted in silence. I toggled between
the two profiles a few times and the issue persisted.

I then powered off/on once again, and this time I was able to properly
select the A2DP profile and hear perfect audio!

So, the connection issue seems to be fixed (for me, atleast)! There
seems to be something that is a little bit strange with the audio
profile selection, although there may be some user error involved here.
I'll try and repeat my power cycling tests a few more times and see if
the issue is a software problem or a user problem.

Thanks for looking into this!

-Jason

The test kernel can be downloaded from:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~jsalisbury/lp1470250/AlexFaulpeltzPatch/trusty/

Can this kernel be tested to see if it resolves this bug?

Note, that both the linux-image and linux-image-extra .deb packages need
to be installed.

[Bug 1574617] Re: External monitor keeps going blank

2016-10-13 Thread Ron
Having the same problem here with a Dell Latitude with 3 displays, 2 DP,
1VGA Ubuntu 16.04, starting using 4.8-rcX kernels and around RC3 or so
seems like the problem went away but then returned. Currently on 4.8.1
issue persists. Would be interested in any comments or workarounds.

[Bug 220961] Re: [MASTER] ubiquity crashes instead of notifying the user of not enough disk space

2016-10-13 Thread David
When I tried with "Download updates while installing" and "Use LVM", it
failed twice.

When I opted not to download updates, it failed again.

When I opted not to download updates and didn't ask for LVM, it claimed
success. I suspect this is an Ubuntu problem with UEFI; if so, it would
be good to disable the LVM option on systems using UEFI and add a
caption "Not compatible with host UEFI".
