[Bug 1635783] [NEW] Regression with suspend 229-4ubuntu4/10 on 32bits old thinkpad t40
Public bug reported: (I"m actually on linux mint) In the live USB and default install, suspend worked correctly (hibernation didn't). At some point, it stopped working (and hibernation started working), it just get blocked on a black screen, the laptop is totally blocked, i have to press the power button. sudo pm-suspend still works correctly. systemctl suspend gives the above behavior. I"m actually on linux mint 18 MATE 32bits, everything upgraded and with original kernel. I think it stopped working after the systemd update, still with original kernel. I tried installing other kernels from the official repos and from kernel.ubuntu.com, but nothing changed (4.4.1 and 4.8). I think a regression hapened in systemd somewhere between 229-4ubuntu4(xenial) and 229-4ubuntu10(xenial) I couldn't test between 4 and 10. I can send you logs, if you tell me exactly how and what. --- linux mint 18 32bit thinkpad t40 (2003) ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 ** Affects: systemd (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1635783 Title: Regression with suspend 229-4ubuntu4/10 on 32bits old thinkpad t40 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/systemd/+bug/1635783/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that there was an error on your system when trying to install a particular package. Please execute the following command, as it will clear your package cache, in a terminal: sudo apt-get clean Then try performing the update again. This will likely resolve your issue, but the failure could be caused by filesystem or memory corruption. So please also run a fsck on your filesystem(s) and a memory test. Thanks in advance! [Bug 1635447] Re: Upgraded or Live USB 16.10 hangs at boot up blank purple screen
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected ** Description changed: My HP dm3z-2000 laptop works out of box for everything with Ubuntu 16.04, but fails to boot up after upgraded to 16.10. The upgrading went smooth itself. Laptop still can boot up with the latest 4.4 kernel of 16.04 which I did a regular update/upgrade before 16.10 release upgrade. Then I tried to boot with 16.10 Live USB and got same result. It also can boot up with kernel 4.8 if "acpi=off" parameter in place, but it takes long time to boot up. Everything seems fine after logged in and Unity 8 session works too. I couldn't get any log files since the system won't boot up, Ctrl+Alt+F1 does nothing. I can only see some messages in text boot mode, so I took a screen shot with my phone and attached here. Let me know how to get more details. + --- + ApportVersion: 2.20.3-0ubuntu8 + Architecture: amd64 + AudioDevicesInUse: + USERPID ACCESS COMMAND + /dev/snd/controlC0: renm 2918 F pulseaudio + /dev/snd/controlC1: renm 2918 F pulseaudio + CurrentDesktop: Unity + DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.10 + HibernationDevice: RESUME=UUID=7e8ca036-f81d-43e2-820a-1deadcffc2dc + InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-10-08 (13 days ago) + InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS "Xenial Xerus" - Release amd64 (20160719) + MachineType: Hewlett-Packard HP Pavilion dm3t Notebook PC + Package: linux (not installed) + ProcFB: + 0 radeondrmfb + 1 radeondrmfb + ProcKernelCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-4.8.0-22-generic root=UUID=19005996-db50-4249-9c73-17cf874dc678 ro acpi=off + ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.8.0-22.24-generic 4.8.0 + RelatedPackageVersions: + linux-restricted-modules-4.8.0-22-generic N/A + linux-backports-modules-4.8.0-22-generic N/A + linux-firmware1.161 + Tags: yakkety + Uname: Linux 4.8.0-22-generic x86_64 + UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to yakkety on 2016-10-15 (6 days ago) + UserGroups: adm cdrom dip lpadmin plugdev sambashare sudo + _MarkForUpload: True + dmi.bios.date: 10/13/2010 + dmi.bios.vendor: Hewlett-Packard + dmi.bios.version: F.15 + dmi.board.asset.tag: Base Board Asset Tag + dmi.board.name: 1482 + dmi.board.vendor: Hewlett-Packard + dmi.board.version: 76.34 + dmi.chassis.asset.tag: Chassis Asset Tag + dmi.chassis.type: 10 + dmi.chassis.vendor: Hewlett-Packard + dmi.chassis.version: Chassis Version + dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnHewlett-Packard:bvrF.15:bd10/13/2010:svnHewlett-Packard:pnHPPaviliondm3tNotebookPC:pvr048620241F0011032:rvnHewlett-Packard:rn1482:rvr76.34:cvnHewlett-Packard:ct10:cvrChassisVersion: + dmi.product.name: HP Pavilion dm3t Notebook PC + dmi.product.version: 048620241F0011032 + dmi.sys.vendor: Hewlett-Packard ** Attachment added: "AlsaInfo.txt" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1635447/+attachment/4765171/+files/AlsaInfo.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1635447 Title: Upgraded or Live USB 16.10 hangs at boot up blank purple screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1635447/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1579580] Re: ureadahead reports relative path errors in journalctl output
/sbin/ureadahead is writing out warnings every time it gets a relative path from debugfs. This seems excessively wordy, but putting a -q on the ExecStart in ureadahead.service would shut it up. I did a systemd drop-in as a workaround by creating /etc/systemd/system/ureadahead.service.d/quiet.conf containing [Service] ExecStart= ExecStart=/sbin/ureadahead -q -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1579580 Title: ureadahead reports relative path errors in journalctl output To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ureadahead/+bug/1579580/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1627340] Re: [request upgrade] SDDM 0.14.0 was released 28th August 2016, contains important bugfixes
** Description changed: hi! SDDM Version 0.14.0 was released August 28th 2016 [1]. Current version in Xenial/Yakkety is 0.13.xx Source-Code: https://github.com/sddm/sddm/archive/v0.14.0.tar.gz Changelog (in short) ## Legend - + New features - Bug fixes * Others ## 0.14.0 - 2016-08-28 -- + New sddm.conf option EnableAvatars (useful for slow filesystems) + New sddm.conf option UserAuthFile on the XDisplay section to change the default Xauthority file name and path. + New sddm.conf option SessionLogFile on XDisplay and WaylandDisplay sections to change the default user session log location. + ComboBox now exposes the arrow background color as "arrowColor" property. + New "style" theme configuration for QtQuick Controls 2.0. + Require Qt 5.6 or better. + Enable HiDPI support. + Refresh sessions list. + Always fallback to an embedded theme if no suitable theme is found. - Actually change Qt platform theme. - Switch to Wayland session vt only when authentication succeeds. - Close PAM session. - Delete PAM credentials after closing the session. * More theme-neutral default user and root avatars * REMOVED the "circles" theme. Remember to change it if you had it set! * REMOVED the "maui" theme as a standalone theme as it is now embedded in the greeter. Remember to change the theme to empty if you had it set to "maui". * Update Estonian translation. * Add Catalan translation from Robert Antoni Buj Gelonch. * Add Dutch translation from Eric Hameleers. * Add Slovak translation from Martin Minka. * Add Swedish translation from Kristoffer Grundström. * Add Ukrainian translation from Cherevan Andriy. * Add Indian flag from Sanjeev Premi. It would be a pitty if these changes would have to be patched cherry- - picked after release of 16.10 + picked after release of 16.10 (that suggestion lies in the past now, + sorry) The Release-Announcement [1] contains any important information, like patches/their links. This Release requires Qt-Version 5.6 or better. Thus it would NOT [3] - qualify to be backported to Xenial-LTS. + qualify to be backported to Xenial-LTS - needs cherry'pickin. Debian is already informed about this via their PTS [2]. There is - appearently no action taken since - which would imply a FFe now. So, - this shouldn't actually need another bug-report there then ;-) + appearently no action taken since - which would imply a FFe for 16.10 + now. [Bug 1635510] Re: b comes before t in the alphabet, breaks inotify
** Description changed: I'm happy to see that the KDE team understands that a modern desktop computer needs at least 524288 inotify watches for that feature to work properly. Unfortunately, this is rendered useless for users who have both tracker and kde-runtime installed. Because the orders of the letters in the alphabet, sysctl.d/30-tracker.conf comes after sysctl.d/30-baloo-inotify- limit.conf and cancels your wise decision to set the number of watches to a sane value. I suggest you rename the file to 31-baloo-inotify-limit.conf that way even if the Tracker team renames the project to Zzracker, you'd still take over their settings. - (I've also reported the bug against the Tracker package in #1635508 but - 2 chances of having the problem solved are better than one) + (I've also reported the bug against the Tracker package in bug #1635508 + but 2 chances of having the problem solved are better than one) ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.10 Package: kde-runtime 4:16.04.3-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.8.0-22.24-generic 4.8.0 Uname: Linux 4.8.0-22-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm nvidia_modeset nvidia ApportVersion: 2.20.3-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: GNOME Date: Thu Oct 20 20:51:44 2016 InstallationDate: Installed on 2015-05-15 (525 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 15.04 "Vivid Vervet" - Beta amd64 (20150326) SourcePackage: kde-runtime UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to yakkety on 2016-10-19 (1 days ago) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to kde-runtime in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1635510 Title: b comes before t in the alphabet, breaks inotify To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-runtime/+bug/1635510/+subscriptions -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-b...@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1635729] Re: bcache won't start on boot due to exotic block devices filtered in udev rules
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage. You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode. To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1635729/+editstatus and add the package name in the text box next to the word Package. [Bug 1635761] [NEW] Nemo crashes often...delay...window:"No such directory"
Public bug reported: For a while now, Nemo has seemed fairly fragile; I think at least once each session it becomes unresponsive, and shortly disappears. Maybe 4-5 minutes later, a window will appear saying "No such Directory" (or some such wording). I don't think that the window identifies itself as belonging to Nemo, so perhaps it does not - but it never appears except after a Nemo crash. This time, I was opening a file - "Open with...", as this is a new Lubuntu install, and I was "training" Nemo ("Other Application"..."Set as Default") that a .jpg file ought to be opened with eog (Gnome's image viewing program), and not with Firefox, with which it thought it ought to open it. I clicked on "Set as Default", and then on "OK". The "Open With" window disappeared... and so did Nemo. Since I practically just started using the computer this evening, I thought it possible that Nemo might crash again, so I have started it from the Terminal, and if it crashes again, I will add the terminal output to this report. While I was in the middle of ubuntu-bug and then restarting Nemo, there as usual came the "No such directory" window. If it comes back, I may screenshot it and include it as well, although I don't really suppose it will be useful... By the way: when I re-started Nemo, I went to the picture and right- clicked on it; its default opening application had been changed to eog, so the crash happened AFTER the opener had been changed from Firefox to eog, but BEFORE Nemo handed off the file to eog (picture was never displayed). [with the re-opened Nemo, I right-clicked on a .png file, and "Open with..."'d eog --> "Set as Default" ---> "OK", and everything was fine ==> eog opened the picture. Nemo is still up.] -Scott Jacobs -- Nemo version: 3.0.6-2 scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AM-PLUS:~$ uname -a Linux scott-ASUS-M2N68-AM-PLUS 4.8.0-26-generic #28-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 18 14:39:52 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AM-PLUS:~$ lsb_release -dsc Ubuntu 16.10 yakkety scott@scott-ASUS-M2N68-AM-PLUS:~$ echo $DESKTOP_SESSION Lubuntu -- ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 16.10 Package: nemo 3.0.6-2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 4.8.0-26.28-generic 4.8.0 Uname: Linux 4.8.0-26-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.20.3-0ubuntu8 Architecture: amd64 CurrentDesktop: LXDE Date: Fri Oct 21 19:44:21 2016 InstallationDate: Installed on 2016-10-20 (1 days ago) InstallationMedia: Lubuntu 16.10 "Yakkety Yak" - Release amd64 (20161012.1) SourcePackage: nemo UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: nemo (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug yakkety -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1635761 Title: Nemo crashes often...delay...window:"No such directory" To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nemo/+bug/1635761/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
