[Bug 1618803] Re: tcsh crashed with SIGSEGV in __GI___rewinddir()

2016-10-27 Thread Walter Garcia-Fontes
I take comment #20 back, I was introducing a space after "ls". The test
case also works for me.

** Description changed:

  [Impact]

   * This bug makes tcsh unusable in Ubuntu 16.10

   * Backporting to the stable release is justified as there are still 8
  months before end of life

  [Test Case]

-  * Open a shell using tcsh, write "rmdi", hit Tab. What should happen?
- The command should autocomplete to "rmdir". What happens? tcsh crashes.
+  * /bin/tcsh -c "ls-F"
+ This will cause a segmentation fault

  [Regression Potential]

   * It is not expected that fixing this bug will cause any regression

After upgrading to 16.10, hitting "tab" crashes tcsh.

[Bug 1637388] [NEW] Only show snaps that use the U8 interface

2016-10-27 Thread Marcus Tomlinson
Public bug reported:

We should (by default at least) only be showing snaps that use the
unity8 interface in the store (I.e. snaps that have a UI).

This will require some work on the snapd client lib first.

store regardless of interface. We need to verify this.

[Bug 221363] Re: Policy Kit Unlock Buttons Greyed Out when using NX / VNC / LTSP

2016-10-27 Thread benok
I've just installed 16.04LTS and confirmed this problem still exists.

And there's no org.freedesktop.SystemToolsBackends.policy in
/usr/share/polkit-1/actions.
I tried to find related policy, but I couldn't.

Is there any workaround to fix this with polkit settings like
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/policykit/+bug/221363/comments/58
?

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1637024] Re: fwupd consuming very high cpu after startup/login

2016-10-27 Thread Mario Limonciello
Hello,

Although it's possible it's a relapse/regression, the more likely
situation is another corner case that causes similar symptoms.

The mention in kern.log about failing to coldplug UEFI isn't the cause
of this, that's expected if your manufacturer doesn't support UEFI
capsule updates.

A similar bug with Ubuntu 16.10 was just reported upstream here:
https://github.com/hughsie/fwupd/issues/70

It has not yet been debugged.

If you are technical enough, can you please follow the same steps mentioned in
that bug?
https://github.com/hughsie/fwupd/issues/70#issuecomment-254816591

That combination of artifacts and steps should hopefully help to narrow
down what's going on.

Also, please immediately back up the contents of /var/lib/app-info/yaml
(and make sure you follow symlinks) as if it's caused by transient
metadata in that directory it may clear up on it's own the next day and
be hard to reproduce.

[Bug 1619188] Re: Unattended upgrades can break persistent live media

2016-10-27 Thread sudodus
Too bad that we were not told at once, that we must start with an iso
file that already has your fix. The tip to add xenial-proposed and
upgrade caused a lot of FUD and extra work.

Comments 32,57:
---
Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable
and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other
Ubuntu users.
---

Anyway, now we think that we know.

Because of the FUD I will wait some week(s) to 'collect' security
updates, and try with the iso file from a couple of days ago. I saved it
as

$ ls -l xenial-desktop-amd64-2016-10-26.iso
... 1525235712 okt 26 07:07 xenial-desktop-amd64-2016-10-26.iso

[Bug 1566987] Re: No internet connection through WLAN although connected to network

2016-10-27 Thread Chris Guiver
this is a thought/hack only for consideration:

searching online: a debian[-testing] user had issues with a t460
(power-management or wake from suspend on battery; yes a different issue
to you; {stefon:2016-03-26}) which was fixed with a later 4.5 kernel.

the following is a link to install another kernel should you feel comfortable
to try.
http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2016/05/install-linux-kernel-4-6-ubuntu-16-04/

note: I would NOT delete your existing kernel. I am also assuming you
have GRUB installed. If there are problems select an older kernel (at
grub menu) & just remove (dpkg -r) the newer kernel.

This is something you might want to consider trying/testing. Any
questions, please ask. (if you have ubuntu 16.10; a live boot of that
would test same thing without altering your sdd|disk).

[Bug 1635375] Re: First letter doubled in Facebook posts.

2016-10-27 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Michael, can you make anything out about bug 1637364?

It halted the rollout of the latest webkit2gtk to Ubuntu 16.10 to those
who use the GUI update-manager (those who the command line or gnome-
software to update will get the update anyway).

http://people.canonical.com/~ubuntu-archive/phased-updates.html

Unfortunately, I couldn't tell by looking what app triggered the crash,
nor does errors.ubuntu.com work like a normal bug tracker where users
can provide additional info and can be asked questions.

Earlier this week, the crashy gnome-shell plugin stopped the rollout but
I had that error ignored.

[Bug 1637379] [NEW] Hide 'Indicator Application' from Startup Applications

2016-10-27 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

Impact
==
Ubuntu still ships the Startup Applications app.

System autostart files like 'Indicator Application' should not show up
in this app as we don't want users to unintentionally disable these
services that easily.

Test Case
=
Open Startup Applications and check for 'Indicator Application'

Regression Potential

This should be safe. We've been setting NoDisplay=true for stuff in
/etc/xdg/autostart/ for years.

[Bug 1631754] Re: gspell does not include translations

2016-10-27 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

- The update adds a new binary package since Debian is now using an arch-
- independent -common package for translations.
+ Fixed in zesty by syncing the fix from Debian.

  Impact
  ==
The gspell package does not include any translations. This means that Text
Editor spell checking dialog is not translated which is a regression from
Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (in 16.10, the spell checker library was split out of the
gedit source).

  Test Case
  =
Check the build log to ensure that translations are included.
Because gspell is in main, its translations won't be available until a
language pack is created.
gspell is so far only used in gedit.

  sudo apt install language-pack-fr language-pack-gnome-fr

  1. Open the Settings app to the Region panel. Choose French (France) as
default language.
  2. Log out and log back in.
  3. Open 'Éditeur de texte'
  4. Type a misspelled word in the text editor
  5. In the menu, click 'Outils' , then select 'Verification orthographique'

The spell check dialog should be in French not English.

[Bug 1448418] Re: Logout not working in Cairo Dock

2016-10-27 Thread Nazar Mokrynskyi
This seems to be deeper related to GNOME3 stack.
If you use any WM that is Mutter or Mutter-derived - gnome-session-quit works
fine. As soon as you do `compiz --replace` it stops working.

Very typical for GNOME3 stack to put everything into WM (like display
management, keyboard/hotkeys management and a lot of other stuff).

I'm not using Cairo-Dock session, I have my own custom session and this
is also an issue for me. Don't know how to fix it yet (I'm on Ubuntu
17.04 already).

[Bug 1637369] [NEW] Can no longer paste a file in nautilus without keyboard

2016-10-27 Thread Rocko
Public bug reported:

In file list mode, nautilus used to either have a paste option in the
titlebar menu or via a menu that could be opened from a "cog" symbol at
the right-hand top of its window (and for a while, via the right-click
menu if you right-clicked on whitespace instead of a file name).

But the only non-keyboard option I can find in nautilus
1:3.20.3-1ubuntu3.1 now is the right-click menu, but this is not
available when the nautilus window is full of filenames (as in the
attached screenshot), so pasting is impossible without the keyboard in
this case.

What happened to the "cog" menu? IIRC correctly this was present until
quite recently.

[Bug 1631754] Re: gspell does not include translations

2016-10-27 Thread Jeremy Bicha
** Description changed:

  Sponsoring Notes

- Please just sync gspell to zesty.
+ For zesty, please sync gspell.

The update adds a new binary package since Debian is now using an arch-
  independent -common package for translations.

  Impact
  ==

  Regression Potential
  ===
  None.

Re: [Bug 1574324] Re: pulseaudio crashes when connecting to bluetooth headphones (due to ubuntu changes?)

2016-10-27 Thread Luke Yelavich
Ok, so it seems that whilst a freshly paired set of Bluebuds X defaults
to HFP, I am able to switch to A2DP and have it work properly on a
freshly installed and updated Xenial, with the pulseaudio package for
Xenial in my PPA. Can anybody else confirm, at least with at least an up
to date Xenial and pulse from my PPA?

In other news, the fix for *THIS* bug is now in Zesty, and I will be
preparing updates for Xenial and Yakkety. The only thing I have to test
is whether the previously mentioned patch makes the out of the box
experience worth the risk of backporting.

[Bug 1584365] Re: pcs cluster auth unable to connect

2016-10-27 Thread Harry Coin
It's actually a package breaker. A fresh install:
apt-get install pcs fence-agents ldirectord
fails. The file mentioned above that needs removing corosync.conf, prevents apt
from a successful install. Touching that to make it empty allows the install
to complete. Which, apparently, breaks the token creator which breaks all the
auth.
Also, before any of it will actually run,
gem install orderedhash
must complete or pcsd won't launch.
And then, to get both ipv6 and ipv4 both bind and acceptance of hosts,
/usr/share/ssl.rb needs
  :BindAddress=> '*',
  :Host   => '*',
  :SSLEnable  => true,

Initially the * was :: which didn't connect on ipv4, preventing some
internal comm from happening much less joining clusters.

So, basically, "Just Works" is not happening here.

[Bug 1637347] [NEW] Xubuntu 16.10: drm errors causing slow boot

2016-10-27 Thread Jeff
Public bug reported:

I have been getting drm errors since updating to 16.10 causing slow boot
times. Ex:

3.830465] jhm-Inspiron-1520 kernel: input: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad as
/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input5

[ 13.792249] jhm-Inspiron-1520 kernel:
[drm:drm_atomic_helper_commit_cleanup_done [drm_kms_helper]] *ERROR*
[CRTC:26:pipe A] flip_done timed out

There is ten second gap in the above adjacent lines. I have a few of these in
the journal log.
These errors also cause Xorg to stall during mode setting also, as seen in the
adjacent Xorg.0.log file.

[55.988] (II) modeset(0): Output VGA-1 has no monitor section
[66.615] (II) modeset(0): Output SVIDEO-1 has no monitor section

Using the Ubuntu test kernels, the best result I have gotten is from
kernel 4.5.6. At 4.6.0 the wheels start to come off the wagon. At 4.9.0
rc1 the boot stopped at the busybox initrd shell.

4.8.0 fails decompressing the hibernate image as well.

[Bug 1637346] [NEW] HP printer no longer working after upgrade.

2016-10-27 Thread Robin Hicks
Public bug reported:

My HP-Deskjet-F2100-series printer stopped working after upgrade from 16.04 to
16.10. It worked fine in 16.04. I've tried several different printing jobs, and
it's the same for every one, it prints half of a page and then stops. I have a
laptop with 16.04 on it, and when I tried the printer there it worked fine.
  Thank you for your time.
