[Bug 1634802] Re: Could not insert module
I did a little bit of more triaging: Staying on my Linux acer07 4.8.0-21-generic #23-Ubuntu SMP Tue Oct 4 18:27:25 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux and only upgrading from "nvidia-304 304.131-0ubuntu5" to "nvidia-304 304.132-0ubuntu1" brings up this problem. On the other hand, staying on "nvidia-304 304.131-0ubuntu5" and doing a complete "apt-get dist-upgrade" otherwise, results in a completely functioning system. So looks like this problem is more connected with nvidia-304 versions than kernel versions. My workaround is (thanks to BTRFS allowing me to boot into various snapshots and having the earlier driver version available): $ cat /etc/apt/preferences.d/nvidia-304_mtrr-prob.pref Package: nvidia-304 Pin: version 304.132-0ubuntu1 Pin-Priority: -1 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1634802 Title: Could not insert module To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers-304/+bug/1634802/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1574324] Re: pulseaudio crashes when connecting to bluetooth headphones (due to ubuntu changes?)
** Description changed: + Impact: + + A patch we carry for Ubuntu touch introduced a change that originally + was required to make sure PulseAudio did not crash. This patch was + ported to PulseAudio 8 in Xenial, but the patch author's bluetooth + hardware that was to hand at the time worked so was assumed to be ok. + However, the opposite is now happening, i.e PulseAudio is crashing with + a subset of Bluetooth hardware. + + Regression potential: + + Very low to none. As can be read in this report, much debugging and + testing has been done to find the problem, and the eventual fix. + Moreover the change is the removal of a patch hunk that removed a line + of code originally present in PulseAudio. + + Test case: + + NOTE that this test case applies to bluetooth hardware that is + identified as not working in this bug report. + + 1. Install, or upgrade to Xenial or yakkety. + 2. Pair your bluetooth device in the bluetooth settings in the relevant settings application for your desktop environment. + 3. Once paired, you will notice that sound stops working, as pulseaudio has thrown an assertion error. + 4. You do not have to remove your audio device from the paired device list, but it may be easier to do so for the next part of the testing. + 5. Update to the version of PulseAudio in xenial-proposed which is 1:8.0-0ubuntu3.1, or in yakkety-proposed, which is 1:9.0-2ubuntu2.1. + 6. Re-pair your device. Audio should continue to work, and you should be able to switch to your bluetooth device and use it. + + + Original bug report: + When I attempt to connect my Jaybird Bluebuds X to Ubuntu 16.04 pulseaudio crashes, this does *NOT* happen with a Jambox which leads me to believe it's an intermittent problem with some hardware. This did not happen on Ubuntu 15.10 (which was an upgrade of 15.04). [Bug 1573296] Re: obsolete conffiles not cleaned up on upgrade
** Description changed: + Impact: + + When upgrading to xenial from earlier releases, some files are left on + the user's system. They are not used, but may otherwise be mistaken for + being used by the user if they are attempting to fix a problem. + + Regression potential: + + Low to none, as the relevant files are not used, and are being removed + when the updated version of Pulseaudio is installed. These files are + already removed in yakkety and later. + + Test case: + + When updating from trusty to xenial, one will note the presence of the + below listed files on the system. Updating from pulseaudio in xenial or + pulseaudio in trusty to what is in xenial-proposed shoudl delete the + listed files. The /etc/init.d/pulseaudio script should also be + unregistered. + + + Original bug report: + The following files are marked obsolete after the upgrade to 16.04: /etc/init/pulseaudio.conf 6244f8d452b29be7d17219b2db34138f obsolete /etc/init.d/pulseaudio df2873ee4f4673d53e3562a0de6e8aa0 obsolete /etc/default/pulseaudio 777f75f5521eab11c647da5c55544b1b obsolete /etc/bash_completion.d/pulseaudio df1f94a6b961900162bd18532c3c4c22 obsolete Those files should be cleaned up and the sysv init script properly deregistered. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1573296 Title: obsolete conffiles not cleaned up on upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pulseaudio/+bug/1573296/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1638788] [NEW] Macbook Air resumes immidiately after suspend
Public bug reported: with default settings the laptop will immediately resume after sending to sleep (regardless of by closing the LID or though the menu option "suspend") the workaround is disabling the LID ACPI action by running: echo LID0 >/proc/acpi/wakeup this will fix the problem. obviously however just simply opening the lid won't wake the laptop anymore. so one has to manually press the power button. [Bug 1611845] Re: BUG: unable to handle kernel paging request at ffffc9001aecb2c
Karl-Philipp Richter, no need to file a new report about this issue. Despite this, 4.8.0-26-generic is based off of upstream kernel version 4.8.0 as per http://people.canonical.com/~kernel/info/kernel-version- map.html . Hence, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from kernel 4.8.0 to 4.8.6 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed immediately by the first good one. Once this good commit has been identified, it may be reviewed for backporting. Could you please do this following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection#How_do_I_reverse_bisect_the_upstream_kernel.3F ? Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions is not fully commit bisecting. Also, the kernel release names are irrelevant for the purposes of bisecting. It is most helpful that after the fix commit (not kernel version) has been identified, you then mark this report Status Confirmed. [Bug 1635996] Re: Libreoffice temporarily hangs / freezes Ubuntu 16.10
Giraffe, in order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue, at your earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please keep in mind the following: 1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the daily folder). 2) The release names are irrelevant. 3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was released upstream. 4) Install instructions are available at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds . If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may: 1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there. 2) Backup, or clone the primary install. If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue. Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description: kernel-fixed-upstream kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is the release candidate number if it exists. If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags: kernel-bug-exists-upstream kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of kernel-bug-exists-upstream. Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically requested to do so. It is most helpful that after testing of the latest upstream kernel is complete, you mark this report Status Confirmed. Lastly, to keep this issue relevant to upstream, please continue to test the latest mainline kernel as it becomes available. Thank you for your help. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1635996 Title: Libreoffice temporarily hangs / freezes Ubuntu 16.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1635996/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Public bug reported: Download the media installation ISO file at https://www.ubuntu.com/download/server/arm and burn it to a CD-ROM. Then, put it into the SATA CD drive to install Ubuntu into Mustang/Merlin boards (XGene platform), the Installer does not detect the CD-ROM so it report a dialog with below content: "Your installation CD-ROM couldn't be mounted. This probably means that the CD-ROM was not in the drive. If so you can insert it and try again. Retry mounting the CD-ROM?". [Bug 1638769] [NEW] Need more information from account manager
Public bug reported: For storage framework, we need to be able to present the user with a selection dialog that allows the user to select a cloud service account, for example, to select where backups should be stored, or where the camera app should upload photos to. Right now, we only get three values from online accounts: id (integer) service id (e.g. “google-drive-scope”) display name (e.g. “michi.henn...@canonical.com”) This isn’t quite sufficient for what applications need. In particular, they need a (translated) display string that identifies the service (e.g. “Google”, “Dropbox”), and they need the icon identifier. Without these things, it’s not possible to present a decent selection dialog, and it’s not possible to reliably distinguish accounts, such as when a user has more than one account with the same service, or has accounts with different services but the same email address. Could you please add the following to the account information dictionary: - provider ID - translated provider name - icon name ** Affects: online-accounts-api (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1638769 Title: Need more information from account manager To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/online-accounts-api/+bug/1638769/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 482629] Re: Can't write its pid file
This bug was fixed in the package uptimed - 1:0.4.0+git20150923.6b22106-1 --- uptimed (1:0.4.0+git20150923.6b22106-1) unstable; urgency=medium * New maintainer, thanks Thibaut Varene for your previous work (Closes: #830765) * Packaging is now maintained in collab-maint using a git repo * Add Vcs urls * Packaging an snapshot from upstream * Change dh compat to level 10. * More modern debian/rules * Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.8. No changes were needed * Change watch file to look at github * Add pristine-tar to git repo * Drop the Replaces/Conflicts with libuptimed, gone since Etch * Fix an spelling mistake on uprecords command. * Update d/copyright - change to DEP5 format - update years - add Lennart Poettering (src/sd-daemon.h src/sd-daemon.c) - add Free Software Foundation, Inc (src/getopt.c src/getopt.h) * Update Homepage field on debian/control (Closes: #806456) * Handle missing /etc/uptimed.conf (Closes: #680419) * Match the location of the $PIDFILE in the init script and the daemon configuration (Closes: #336922) (LP: #482629) * Debconf warns about data loss if MAX_RECORDS is reduced (Closes: #573232) * Change the default interval to save the database from 300 to 3600 seconds, this will save many disks writes, it is recommended to reduce this interval if the system crashes on intervals smaller than an hour. * uptimed.conf(5) man page updated - to reflect above changes - build from sgml * Override unused-debconf-template lintian warnings, the templates are in use but lintian doesn't detect them. * Remove perl dependency on libuptimed0 and libuptimed-dev, perl-base is enough * Simplify uptimed init.d script * Restart unconditionally on uptimed postinst * Create /run/uptimed via a tmpfile on systemd systems * Update uptimed's service file, to start after the time is in sync, uptime may record wrong values if it is started before the time is correct. On systems without an RTC it is recommended to use systemd-timesyncd * Update uptimed's service to provide uptimed's documentation * [Debconf translation updates] - Russian (Yuri Kozlov).
