[Bug 1641012] Re: FAHControl needs python-support which is not available in 16.04
Thanks, I'll take this up with Folding@home as I downloaded FAHControl directly from their web site. I forgot to mention that there are reports from people who were running FAHControl on Ubuntu 15.10 and when they upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04 it still ran normally. I did a clean install of Ubuntu 16.04. Would repackaging FAHControl to suit Ubuntu 16.04 cause a problem when attempting to use it on Ubuntu 15.10 or other distributions that use python2? Or can a package dependency be set to either/or? [Bug 1640518] Re: MongoDB Memory corruption
An update on my experiments: * 500 runs no failures with TLE disabled * 500 runs no failures TLE enabled but mprotect() syscall in Canary constructor/destructor * 500 runs 11 failed with TLE enabled so about 2% fail rate * Tried switching SMT off and interestingly got 200 runs no fails with TLE enabled. This suggests to me that the timing of this race condition is rather tight. A lot of the fails are in the checksum right after the memset in the Canary constructor, which means the other guy comes back and writes the stack after memset wrote it but before the checksum read it. Also if strace's syscall timing is to be believed, 14% of the time mprotect() is under 8 microseconds, and even that seems to be sufficient to prevent the problem. Finally, by forcing other pthreads to always be on a different processor core (by disabling SMT) we also apparently eliminate this. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1640518 Title: MongoDB Memory corruption To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gcc-5/+bug/1640518/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1633505] Re: gmrun gets a segment fault
Suspect the problem is with libpng16. The xenial package uses libpng12. >From the libpng website: The libpng 1.5.x and 1.6.x series continue the evolution of the libpng API, finally hiding the contents of the venerable and hoary png_struct and png_info data structures inside private (i.e., non-installed) header files. Instead of direct struct-access, applications should be using the various png_get_xxx() and png_set_xxx() accessor functions, which have existed for almost as long as libpng itself. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1633505 Title: gmrun gets a segment fault To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gmrun/+bug/1633505/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1638788] Re: [MacBookAir5,2] Resumes immediately after suspend
hmmm right now I'm having a hard time reproducing this at all. I'm currently on stock 4.8.0-27-generic kernel and right now I do NOT experience the issue at all. I've done a fair amount of further troubleshooting and this is what seems to be the pattern for me: - the problem seems to have completely disappeared since powering OFF the laptop (not just restart) - once the problem starts to appear initially disabling XHC1 will be enough and the laptop will sleep correctly. - eventually for whatever reason disabling XHC1 is no longer enough and disabling LID0 is required - disabling LID0 seems to always fix the problem - I'm unclear what makes the problem appear in the first place. right now I've been running 4.8.0-27-generic for a few days with multiple sleeps/wakeups without workaround (both XHC1 and LID0 enabled) without any issue - I should also state that when testing 4.9-rc3 a few days ago I never fully powered off the laptop. I merely rebooted into the new kernel (and than back into the old stock one) which never fixed the problem. only the complete power off fixed it. I can post more again when the problem starts to occur again. or if anybody knows of anything that I could test now (when its working) and again when it breaks? (i.e. dunno dump the ACPI event registers of some sort? I'm not very familiar with the inner workings of ACPI) sorry guys, I can post more once it starts happening again... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1638788 Title: [MacBookAir5,2] Resumes immediately after suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1638788/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1640518] Re: MongoDB Memory corruption
Regarding Ubuntu 15, I think that was a miscommunication somewhere along the line. The only versions of Ubuntu that we build for are the LTS releases (12.04, 14.04, and 16.04), and the only one of those we have ever built on POWER is 16.04. Other than Ubuntu 16.04, the only other POWER distro we target is RHEL 7.1. So what we are seeing is I think still consistent with either a latent locking bug in MongoDB exposed by the new-to-us lock elision support, or one of the other sorts of issues as mentioned by Adam above. Also, my test run using the disabled lock elision just reached 500 successful runs. I'm going to switch lock elision back on and make sure I start seeing corruption again, but I'm nearly certain that I will. Thanks for the update on the mprotect experiment. It would have been great if that had worked. I think we will be able to share some details on our similar experiments on Monday.

But I think that would be a bug/issue with updating the xenial repo with the newer package, and not an issue with pptpd itself. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1610500 Title: package pptpd 1.4.0-7ubuntu0.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pptpd/+bug/1610500/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 683170] Re: should be possible to display only windows from the current workspace in the launcher
In my previous comment (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana- design/+bug/683170/comments/77), I mistook the nature of consistency Mark was talking about (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana- design/+bug/683170/comments/4). If you want it to be consistent, then for the pinned launchers, make it so that clicking on the launcher creates a new instance, rather than switching to the running instance in other workspace. That would be consistent with the new behaviour as well as the behaviour of other DEs. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/683170 Title: should be possible to display only windows from the current workspace in the launcher To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ayatana-design/+bug/683170/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1640585] Re: [SRU] New stable micro release 2.22
I tested this in xenial and yakkety: Install snapcraft, snapcraft-examples and snapcraft parser. Enable -proposed. Upgrade the packages to 2.22.1. Then I checked that the reverted commit from 2.22 was actually removed and it wasn't causing weird problems. I also did a quick exploratory to check that the features already tested for 2.22 were still working. I'm marking this as verified. [Bug 1641355] [NEW] libreoffice impress gradients do not work in slide show mode
Public bug reported: When using libreoffice gradients show up fine in edit mode, but not in the slide show. I have tried downgrading to libreoffice 5.1 using the debs on the libreoffice official website but to no avail. Sometimes the gradients show up but distorted on other occasiones the colours do not show at all. This problem started when I upgraded from Lubuntu 16.04 to 16.10. As I use Impress a lot I'm currently downgrading back to 16.04. Screen shows edit mode.
