Re: [Bug 1632451] Re: Cant refresh snap after disable, enable packet.

2016-11-17 Thread Falk
I usually backup my live data and remove/install the snap.
It's a bit of a hassle, but it "usually" works :)

[Bug 1342175] Re: [upstream] Poor performance with find & replace with empty value on large data set

2016-11-17 Thread KS NAIR
Hi

Sorry, the attachment was sent without this post about the problem that
I encountered.

I found this bug page when trying to deal with a similar find and
replace problem on a file containing ~2000 rows and 60 rows.

The file is enclosed in comment #36 above

If I try and replace "SA" with "A" (quotes not required) and look in
values only, it takes anywhere between 4-7 minutes to complete. Even
after the replace is complete, it takes a very long to close the Find
and Replace box

Version Version: 5.1.5.2
Build ID: 1:5.1.5~rc2-0ubuntu1~trusty1

May I request help to confirm that the problem still persists in this
version and provide a fix if confirmed?

Thanks

[Bug 1636912] Re: systemd-networkd runs too late for cloud-init.service (net)

2016-11-17 Thread Kristian Jensen
Hi,

Can we get some attention to this? We are unable to use Xenial, since
the instance boots up without a default gateway. Not sure if we are hit
harder because we are using vmware as hypervisor, but should not be a
problem since Trusty works fine.

[Bug 1642817] [NEW] ubuntu mate welcome does not detect the qxl driver in from my kvm vm

2016-11-17 Thread Brendan Perrine
Public bug reported:

To reproduce install ubuntu mate 17.04 in a kvm vm with a qxl emulated graphics
card. ubuntu mate welcome says it does not detect the vendor of my graphics
then displays Sorry, Welcome was unable to automatically identify the graphics
vendor on this system and states Red hat paravirtual graphics card rev 04 and
then goes on to explain open source vs proprietary graphics.

Description:Ubuntu Zesty Zapus (development branch)
Release:17.04

I expected to not get an error message saying graphics drivers were not
found when using a qxl paravirtualed card in kvm and then get told that
is what I am using on the next line in the error message. I got instead
that this was not considered by the autbhors of ubuntu-mate-welcome.
Also should I see if this is the case with cirrius emulated of the vga,
vmvga or xen modes of kvm?

[Bug 1642812] [NEW] USB devices are not closed when error occurs

2016-11-17 Thread Robert Liu
Public bug reported:

In fwupd, a few of USB devices are not closed when there are some
failures of operations. This issue will cause fwupd has some orphan USB
nodes inside during fwupd is running. A orphan USB node might introduce
memory leak and block some runtime power features as well.

I proposed a upstream PR, and also put the link here.

[Bug 1642809] [NEW] no audio on boot and stuttering afterwards

2016-11-17 Thread Fibonacci
Public bug reported:

Right after boot I have no audio on my machine until I run pulseaudio -k. Then
I have normal audio for a very short time (a few seconds) until it begins
stuttering. The stuttering gets progressively worse with time, and re-running
pulseaudio -k DOESN'T solve it. Sometimes it disappears by itself for a few
minutes only to restart as described later.
While trying to play audio, I get many of the following two messages in
/var/log/syslog, both when I have no audio and when I get stuttering:

Nov 16 23:04:45 prower-desktop rtkit-daemon[14282]: Successfully made thread
20064 of process 4156 (n/a) owned by '1000' RT at priority 5.
Nov 16 23:04:45 prower-desktop rtkit-daemon[14282]: Supervising 1 threads of 1
processes of 1 users.

Nov 16 23:04:48 prower-desktop rtkit-daemon[14282]: Warning: Reached burst
limit for user '1000', denying request.
Nov 16 23:04:48 prower-desktop rtkit-daemon[14282]: Supervising 0 threads of 0
processes of 1 users.

The process number mentioned in the first message is invariably
/usr/bin/pulseaudio --start --log-target=syslog.

2016-11-17 Thread Jeremy LaCroix
I am also facing this issue. I will either get the results mentioned
here, or I'll see a password prompt, but keyboard support isn't
accepted. For me, it also happened when installing the latest nvidia
driver.

[Bug 1638986] Re: cups/cups-browsed causing delay in shutdown (16.04)

2016-11-17 Thread Lucas Liebenwein
Please find attached the the log file. Remember to start cups-browsed
again via sudo systemctl start cups-browsed so that you are connected to
the cups server once more.

The delayed shutdown always happens when I am connected to the network
that has cups printers. When I am not connected to any cups server it is
fine.

[Bug 1611074] Re: Reformatting of ephemeral drive fails on resize of Azure VM

2016-11-17 Thread Scott Moser
I've uploaded again to my ppa, 0.7.8-53-g902745d-1~bddeb should build there
sometime soon.
I've been testing that with my quick hack of formatting /dev/sdb1 to ntfs and
rebooting,
(go-format.sh: http://paste.ubuntu.com/23492436/) and so far it is looking
reasonable.

I expect to test tomorrow some more, and welcome any testing anyone else
wants to give it.

I'll play with actual resizing tomorrow.

[Bug 1542029] Re: New windows have incorrect dimensions on launch (not the dimensions the app specifies)

2016-11-17 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Specific examples:
(1) Open a drop-down menu in a GTK app and verify it looks the right size.
(2) Hover over some elements that will pop up a tooltip and to verify the
tooltip is a sane size.
(3) xclock -geometry 100x100
(4) Run 'zenity --scale' and verify the default window size fits neatly around
the widgets like in X.

I think you've probably fixed all this recently but it's mostly been
discussed in bug 1543467 as mentioned above.

[Bug 1640181] Re: nvidia driver fails to build [error: passing argument 5 of ‘get_user_pages’ from incompatible pointer type]

2016-11-17 Thread Daniel van Vugt
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1642241 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1642241

The bug is in the nvidia driver 370, which appears to not exist in the
Ubuntu archive(?)

So this bug would be invalid for Ubuntu in general but it's also been
reported against Ubuntu proper using earlier driver versions. So this is
a duplicate of (newer) bug 1642241.

** Summary changed:

- [ 4.9 ] Greeter loop with a nvidia driver
+ nvidia driver fails to build [error: passing argument 5 of ‘get_user_pages’
from incompatible pointer type]

** Description changed:

+ /var/lib/dkms/nvidia-370/370.28/build/nvidia/os-mlock.c:120:55: error:
passing argument 5 of ‘get_user_pages’ from incompatible pointer type
[-Werror=incompatible-pointer-types]
+  page_count, write, force, user_pages, NULL);
+^~
+
+ -
Can't go past the greeter loop with a nvidia driver.
  Compilation fails at dkms level.

[Bug 1637583] Re: PWG Raster printing on IPP Everywhere printers not working correctly

2016-11-17 Thread Till Kamppeter
Installed and tested the cups-filters and ghostscript packages from
yakkety-proposed. Printed several jobs on different (emulated) IPP
Everywhere printers (PWG-Raster-only, PDF, color, bw, ...). All print
without using mutool (using Ghostscript instead). Outcoming files are
correct (borderless PWG Raster or PDF). cups-browsed auto-creates the
appropriate print queues when an IPP Everywhere printer is present in
the local network.

Everything working as intended. SRU verified.

Apparently, it's multibootusb bug.

On the same h/w, using same Ubuntu 16.04.1 ( but put on USB flash-drive
with "Startup Disk Creator"), I just installed it without any problem.
