[Bug 1649419] Re: unable to install apps from ubuntu store

2016-12-13 Thread Alberto Mardegan
Hi Daniel, I need to ask you some more information, in order to
understand what's going on:

1) Can you please take a screenshot (press both volume UP and volume
DOWN buttons at the same time) of the page asking you to confirm access
to your account, and attach it to this bug report?

2) Please go to System Settings -> Online Accounts; do you have an
UbuntuOne account there?

3) If not, please try creating the account from there. Then head back to
the ubuntu store, and try installing an app from there. Does it succeed?
And if you go back to the System Settings, is the UbuntuOne account
still there?

[Bug 1133477] Re: cut-n-paste move files got stuck forever

2016-12-13 Thread Andy Dix
I'm constantly getting this problem in Ubuntu 16.04.

Moving 608 jpg files to a sub-folder of the current folder has just
taken ages (15 minutes? - certainly long enough for me to find this
thread and compose this comment while I was waiting for the move to
complete).

The "Preparing to move n files" message very slowly decreases the value
of n indicating that there is some progress being made but it should
never take this long.

It's getting to the point where I'll always boot into Windows rather
than Ubuntu just in case I need to move some files.

[Bug 1645798] Re: No snaps appear in scope on Core 16

2016-12-13 Thread Michi Henning
I've spent pretty much all day trying to track this down. The debug
cycle time with core 16 in a VM doesn't help :-(

What I can see is that crap comes out of the ZmqReceiver when an object
adapter tries to dispatch an incoming request to the scope. The problem
doesn't manifest itself in the same way on each run. Sometimes, the read
from the socket returns zero bytes, which triggers the "socket was
closed" error.

Other times, the number of bytes read doesn't divide by the word size,
which triggers an "impossible message size" error.

Yet other times, things fall over in the ObjectAdapter::dispatch()
method when something throws during unmarshaling (presumably because the
data that was read is crap), which is reported as "error unmarshaling
request header".

It all points to some problem with zmq not respecting framing boundaries
or indicating that a socket has a message ready to read, but then
delivering incomplete or crap data.

I don't understand at this point why this happens with core 16 and not
on classic. The library versions for zmq match what I have on my
desktop.

I'll try this again tomorrow on classic and see whether I can figure out
what's going wrong by comparing trace.

3.20 and 3.22.0. It might still be present in this release.
+
+ I was a bit confused trying to read the evolution mailing list and some
+ of the bug reports. It's possible that other people using older versions
+ of evolution are causing the Google to block the shared API key because
+ of too many authentication errors. If that's so, we can hope distros and
+ users update promptly. Or we could ship an Ubuntu-specific key.

[Bug 1342175] Re: [upstream] Poor performance with find & replace with empty value on large data set

2016-12-13 Thread KS NAIR
Hi

Could someone help in pointing me in the right direction to upgrade our
current version to the one that fixes the problem?

I have tried this on Linux Mint 18.1 Beta which installs Libreoffice
Calc 5.1.4.2, and the problem still exists.

The real issue seems to be that the Find/Replace function is trying to
populate thousands of records into a small window for display to the
user and the system takes a very long time (> 15 min) to display this.
In any case, the window is of not much use especially if more than 20-30
records are being replaced, as the user cannot do much with the
information once the replacement has taken place.

Alternatively, is there a patch that can be applied for only Calc which
resolves this issue?

Thanks for any help that I can get.

Till- Still having a problem with this. The auto updates will not

[Bug 1644021] Re: Firefox doesn't include EmojiOne font

2016-12-13 Thread Miles Krell
** Description changed:

Firefox has shipped with an emoji font since version 50.0, but Ubuntu
doesn't include it in their Firefox packages.

- When opening a page in Firefox containing emoji characters, the black
- and white glyphs from DejaVu are displayed instead of the EmojiOne
- glyphs.
+ Therefore, when opening a page in Firefox containing emoji characters,
+ the black and white glyphs from DejaVu are displayed instead of the
+ glyphs from the EmojiOneMozilla font.

  According to http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial-
updates/amd64/firefox/filelist, EmojiOneMozilla.ttf is not included in
the firefox package in Ubuntu's repositories.

Manual installing this font and verifying that it works:
  1) Download Firefox tarball from Firefox website
  2) Extract EmojiOneMozilla.ttf from /firefox/fonts/
  3) Copy EmojiOneMozilla.ttf to /usr/lib/firefox/fonts/
  4) Quit Ubuntu session and launch a new one
  5) Launch Firefox and go to http://getemoji.com/
- 6) Open a page containing emoji characters
+ 6) Open a page containing emoji characters such as
https://eosrei.github.io/emojione-color-font/full-demo.html
+ 7) Now, instead of using glyphs from DejaVu, the majority of emoji on this
page are taken from EmojiOneMozilla.ttf

[Bug 1649763] Re: Dell XPS 15 2016 with Ubuntu 16 Sound HDMI issues

2016-12-13 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1649763/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Bug 1644021] Re: Firefox doesn't include EmojiOne font

2016-12-13 Thread Miles Krell
** Description changed:

- Since Firefox 50 Emoji could be used inside a web page:
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/50.0/releasenotes/
- Firefox 50 release :" Added a built-in Emoji set for operating systems
without native Emoji fonts (Windows 8.0 and lower and Linux) "
+ Firefox has shipped with an emoji font since version 50.0, but Ubuntu
+ doesn't include it in their Firefox packages.

- Step to reproduce:
- 1) Update Firefox to Firefox 50
- 2) Launch Firefox
- 3) Go to http://getemoji.com/
+ When opening a page in Firefox containing emoji characters, the black
+ and white glyphs from DejaVu are displayed instead of the EmojiOne
+ glyphs.

- Actual result: a lot Emoji are not here
+ According to http://packages.ubuntu.com/xenial-
+ updates/amd64/firefox/filelist, EmojiOneMozilla.ttf is not included in
+ the firefox package in Ubuntu's repositories.

- Expected Result: All Emoji sould be shown
-
- Workform: Manual install of the Emoji font:
- 1) Download
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/50.0/linux-i686/en-US/firefox-50.0.tar.bz2
+ Manual installing this font and verifying that it works:
+ 1) Download Firefox tarball from Firefox website
  2) Extract EmojiOneMozilla.ttf from /firefox/fonts/
- 3) Copy EmojiOneMozilla.ttf in /usr/lib/firefox/fonts/ (badly it's no work in
~/.fonts/ )
- 4) Quit your Ubuntu's session and launch a new one
+ 3) Copy EmojiOneMozilla.ttf to /usr/lib/firefox/fonts/
+ 4) Quit Ubuntu session and launch a new one
  5) Launch Firefox and go to http://getemoji.com/
- 6) It's work!
-
- Mozilla decide that Firefox MUST read Emoji and install a font for that for
Windows et Linux's users. Badly, Ubuntu remove it.
- For a better interoperability, Ubuntu should add EmojiOneMozilla.ttf
+ 6) Open a page containing emoji characters

2016-12-13 Thread John Rodriguez
The bug also affects me on 12.04. Often get the "libavcodec may be
vulnerable or is not supported, and should be updated to play video"
error.

Will I have to upgrade to 14.04?

Will the update for 12.04 eventually be available on the standard update
package?

[Bug 1582708] Re: HAproxy 1.6.3 mail alerts on DOWN but not UP

2016-12-13 Thread Brian Morton
This is interesting since the bug was fixed in 1.6-dev2.

https://github.com/haproxy/haproxy/commit/4cd477f3721f6a3fe7cf55ae729388bf7f279331

There are two curious conditions in the code:

if (s->admin & SRV_ADMF_MAINT)
return;

if (s->state == SRV_ST_STARTING || s->state == SRV_ST_RUNNING)
return;

Basically, if the server is in maintenance mode or is still starting, it
bails out. But that should preclude the UP logging you see. Can you
confirm the server in question isn't in maintenance mode? I might try to
reproduce this with gdb running to debug.

[Bug 1649763] [NEW] Dell XPS 15 2016 with Ubuntu 16 Sound HDMI issues

2016-12-13 Thread Daniel Rodriguez
Public bug reported:

This issue is related to sound not working properly on Ubuntu when
switching between an external display using HDMI with 4K resolution and
the standard laptop display.

Issue 1 - Sound only works on laptop when plugged into 4k HDMI display
Issue 2 - Sound doesn't work when plugged removed from 4k HDMI display

When you plug in a 4k Display that supports sound to the Dell XPS 15
2016 model the sound only works on the laptop. Only when you go to Sound
Settings and manually select the HDMI output for sound does the sound
start to work on the display itself instead of the laptop.

When you unplug the HDMI 4k display the sound doesn't work on the
laptop. When you go to the Sound Settings dialog it only shows one
output that is selected - if you select the same output thats already
selected the sound starts to work again on the laptop.

[Bug 1383704] Re: Can't switch off SSLv3 cipher groups in haproxy

2016-12-13 Thread Brian Morton
Nominating this for wontfix since security support has ended for
releases with haproxy >= 1.5 and <= 1.5.7. Everything earlier doesn't
have SSL support built-in, and everything later is unsupported or has
received the upstream fix. The solution is to upgrade to trusty and use
backports or upgrade to xenial or newer.

Re: [Bug 1574324] Re: pulseaudio crashes when connecting to bluetooth headphones (due to ubuntu changes?)

2016-12-13 Thread Luke Yelavich
Ok, I do not see anything obvious from the log. Did you attempt to pair
your headphones whilst pulseaudio was running? TO be sure, delete the
pairing from bluetooth preferences if it exists, and start fresh. Load
pulse as per instructions to get the log, attempt to pair the bluetooth
headphones, wait till the pair fails/pulse seems to crash. If pulse is
still running, terminate it and then submit the log to the bug.

Thanks.

[Bug 1649662] Re: resizing a gtk+3/mir app makes it unusable - pixels get stretched and input stops working

2016-12-13 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It's worth remembering a client can always (rightly or wrongly) refuse
to render a new frame (e.g. it might freeze or it might be by design).
It is always the server's responsibility to render the pixels of the
last frame from the client correctly, never stretched out of proportion.

[Bug 1649696] Re: /usr/include/mirclient/mir_toolkit/events/event.h:24:32: fatal error: mir_toolkit/common.h: No such file or directory

2016-12-13 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Confirmed, mir_toolkit/common.h has moved from libmircommon-dev to
libmircore-dev, and libmirclient-dev is lacking correct dependencies on
that new package. So external projects will probably fail to build since
they can't find mir_toolkit/common.h

The pkg-config dependency seems to be in place already, but no deb
dependency of libmirclient-dev on libmircore-dev.

A simple workaround should be to manually install libmircore-dev.

Wait, no. libmirclient-dev depends on libmircommon-dev depends on
libmircore-dev already.

So perhaps you do have common.h installed, but we're lacking correct
"-Iinclude_paths" which *.pc/*.pc.in should provide.

Ken, can you please check your project's pkg-config and ensure you're
getting mircore.pc? You should be getting it automatically by
indirection and that should be giving you the include path to find the
new location of common.h automatically.

Please also list all your 'dpkg -l | grep mir'.

[Bug 1649751] [NEW] [20BXCTO1WW, Intel Broadwell HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] fails after suspend/resume

2016-12-13 Thread James Ferguson

HDMI sound works initially (actually I'm using DisplayPort), but after

[Bug 1304760] Re: checkinstall fails to add files to dpkg conffiles

2016-12-13 Thread Brian Morton
This bug doesn't affect upstream, but is a regression from
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=655453 which was filed
and fixed in Debian. The Debian patch is the source of this bug since
the fix was incorrect. I'm reporting it to Debian and adding a note to
the upstream bug to revise the fix before commit. I'll add an Ubuntu
debdiff as a patch so it can easily be removed when this package is
synced again.

[Bug 1570698] Re: CI failure in TestClientInput.receives_one_touch_event_per_frame

2016-12-13 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Yeah this failure has become more of a problem with the CapnProto event
code. Prior to that it wasn't failing for months at a time.

Long term we expect input resampling functionality to get dropped from
Mir, and this test case with it. Because client-side vsync should allow
Unity8 to use the default QML_TOUCH_COMPRESSION instead.

Shorter term, I noticed the new Capnproto code seems to do multiple
mallocs per event. Fixing that could help here.

[Bug 1441852] Re: [HP Spectre x360 - 13-4010ca] Audio broken, broadwell-U audio controller

2016-12-13 Thread Stephen
Now I'm really confused...

I saw 4.9 was released, so I installed it from the Ubuntu mainline debs
(amd64: headers-all, headers-generic, image-generic). Rebooted and
audio did NOT work. So I thought something must have changed between
rc4 and final, so I reinstalled 4.9-rc4 (I still had the debs in my
Downloads folder), rebooted, and audio still did NOT work.

I don't know if it's related or not, but WiFi is now working in rc4,
which makes me think I'm not actually comparing apples-to-apples...

Thoughts? Thanks!
