[Bug 1652764] Re: [Patch] Unmatched named lines

2016-12-28 Thread Eric Desrochers
I didn't look at the src code, but reading at the bug it's not clear if
the fix is in logwatch or bind9. Is logwatch has been affected by
mistake ? Please confirm.

Either way, it doesn't change the fact that the fix needs to be
approved/merged upstream first before submitting for SRU.

[Bug 1271358] Re: Update to 3.18 (remove controls needed for Unity and other desktops)

2016-12-28 Thread Alexander E. Patrakov
Note that Vino 3.8.1 bundles a very old libvncserver, with significant
image quality problems. One example is attached to
https://github.com/novnc/noVNC/issues/737

I do not object to forking 3.8.1, as long as the fork is updated to use
the latest libvncserver.

[Bug 1363313] Re: mpt2sas not loaded with LSISAS2008 card in trusty 14.04.1

2016-12-28 Thread Bjorn Helgaas
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92351#c1 reports the problem occurs
with LSI FW 18.
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92351#c8 reports the problem does
NOT occur with LSI FW 19. So upgrading the adapter firmware to version 19 may
be a fix.

There is a patch at
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=92351#c7, but it has not
been tested and has not been merged upstream. This fix would be a
possible workaround for systems with LSI FW 18. My understanding is
that it would not be necessary with LSI FW 19.

[Bug 1653009] [NEW] Ubuntu 16.04 fails to boot from Sandisk usb stick with latest kernels

2016-12-28 Thread Daro

[Bug 1653009] Re: Ubuntu 16.04 fails to boot from Sandisk usb stick with latest kernels

2016-12-28 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Daro, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better.

In order to allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue, at your
earliest convenience, could you please test the latest upstream kernel
available from http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=N;O=D ? Please
keep in mind the following:
1) The one to test is at the very top line at the top of the page (not the
daily folder).
2) The release names are irrelevant.
3) The folder time stamps aren't indicative of when the kernel actually was
released upstream.
4) Install instructions are available at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/MainlineBuilds .

If testing on your main install would be inconvenient, one may:
1) Install Ubuntu to a different partition and then test this there.
2) Backup, or clone the primary install.

If the latest kernel did not allow you to test to the issue (ex. you couldn't
boot into the OS) please make a comment in your report about this, and continue
to test the next most recent kernel version until you can test to the issue.
Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please comment on which kernel version
specifically you tested. If this issue is fixed in the mainline kernel, please
add the following tags by clicking on the yellow circle with a black pencil
icon, next to the word Tags, located at the bottom of the report description:
kernel-fixed-upstream
kernel-fixed-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Where X, and Y are the first two numbers of the kernel version, and Z is
the release candidate number if it exists.

If the mainline kernel does not fix the issue, please add the following tags:
kernel-bug-exists-upstream
kernel-bug-exists-upstream-X.Y-rcZ

Please note, an error to install the kernel does not fit the criteria of
kernel-bug-exists-upstream.

Also, you don't need to apport-collect further unless specifically
requested to do so.

It is most helpful that after testing of the latest upstream kernel is
complete, you mark this report Status Confirmed.

Lastly, to keep this issue relevant to upstream, please continue to test
the latest mainline kernel as it becomes available.

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1652764] Re: [Patch] Unmatched named lines

2016-12-28 Thread Eric Desrochers
Hi Steffen,

Is your patch in logwatch upstream ?

If not... the first step would be to make sure your proposal patch is
approved/merged upstream.

Then you can request a backport in Zesty (devel release) and then Xenial
by attaching debdiff(s) for both Z and X.

Ideally, opening a debian bug is strongly recommended to make sure
debian has the fix as well.

[Bug 1653007] [NEW] yakkety ioquake3 SEGV in variable handling code

Public bug reported:

Problem exists in 1.36+u20160616+dfsg1-1

It does not exist in 1.36+u20160122+dfsg1-1

It's not specific to the sv_fps variable. Others will cause it too.
sv_fps is merely a very early one to cause a crash.

It's a pointer to a structure. It goes from

value NULL,
to 0x561a1518
to 0x0015
to 0x0015
to 0x10015
and then crashes on deref later.

[Bug 1575452] Re: Copy/move dialog cannot be switched to

2016-12-28 Thread Mateusz Stachowski
This was originally targeted against Xenial but for some reason updated
packages were released only for Yakkety and Zesty.

In those releases there is no more separate copy/move dialog in
Nautilus. This file manager uses now integrated indicator displaying
progress of such operations.

[Bug 1604313] Re: Ubuntu 16.04: system freezes instead of suspend after undocking

2016-12-28 Thread Julius Thor
I also notice that the display changes are not detected properly. When I
undock, there is no change in display orientation and I can still move
the mouse over to the other screen which is not there (missing limb,
still felt). When I run Displays ("unity-control-center display"), the
screen flickers and the displays get rearranged but are still detected
as if they are still connected.

Christofer, I'll create a new bug report as soon as I get clarification
regarding my previous question.

2016-12-28 Thread Brinstar

** Tags added: apport-collected

** Description changed:

I am able to reproduce a bug which causes a kernel panic when the
  following conditions are met:

  1. Xubuntu 16.04 beta 1 is installed
  2. btrfs is used as the filesystem
  3. The intel-microcode package is installed after the initial system setup is
complete

I have got an actual photo of the screen when the crash happens as I was
unable to locate the correct log file where this would have shown up.

I can provide any logs that may be useful

[Bug 1557989] Re: having btrfs installed as the fs is causing a crash when trying to install the intel-microcode package

2016-12-28 Thread Robie Basak
I happen to have come across this. I don't have the knowledge to help,
but it does sound like this is a kernel issue rather than a problem with
the intel-microcode package, so let's reassign it. Otherwise it won't
get attention from anyone who might know.

"Critical" importance is probably not correct, but I'll let the kernel
team triagers decide that.

What should be the focus of the new bug? Split off the fact that Denial

[Bug 1641451] Re: ALPS Touchpad incorrectly detected as PS/2 mouse in Dell Latitude 7370

2016-12-28 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Michael Doube, the next step is to fully reverse commit bisect from
kernel 4.4 to 4.9 in order to identify the last bad commit, followed
immediately by the first good one. Once this good commit has been
identified, it may be reviewed for backporting. Could you please do this
following https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/KernelBisection ?

Please note, finding adjacent kernel versions, or providing a commit
from a kernel version bisect is not fully commit bisecting.

Also, the kernel release names are irrelevant for the purposes of
bisecting.

It is most helpful that after the fix commit (not kernel version) has
been identified, you then mark this report Status Confirmed.

Thank you for your help.

[Bug 1652959] [NEW] Can't choose options for a new project in "Define Project Details"

2016-12-28 Thread Migrec
Public bug reported:

When I create a new project (Qt Quick Controls Application), they are 2 options
at the step "Define Project Details" :
- With ui.qml file
- Enable native styling. Requires dependency of the QtWidgets module.

These 2 checkboxes can't be selected... I can click on it but the case
still stay unchecked.

I use Qt Creator 4.0.2 on Ubuntu 16.10 without any ppa. My packages are
updated every time as needed.

[Bug 1576726] Re: [SRU] network-manager 1.2.0

2016-12-28 Thread Theresa
Don't know if this is the right place, but I'm on Xenial and I'm
struggeling to connect with Network-Manager to an IPsec VPN tunnel
through the strongswan plugin.

I have installed the following versions:

network-manager
1.2.2-0ubuntu0.16.04.3
network-manager-gnome
1.2.0-0ubuntu0.16.04.4
network-manager-openvpn 1.1.93-1ubuntu1
network-manager-pptp1.1.93-1ubuntu1
network-manager-pptp-gnome 1.1.93-1ubuntu1

network-manager-strongswan 1.3.1-1ubuntu1

as well as:
libstrongswan 5.3.5-1ubuntu3
libstrongswan-standard-plugins 5.3.5-1ubuntu3

I get prompted for the password (EAP) although I have configured it in
the Network-Manager editor already. Syslog only says this:

Dec 28 17:35:10 herex NetworkManager[942]: [1482942910.9457]
vpn-connection[0x1e9c3d0,8d0c94c6-bbf1-4cfb-8bd6-668b930537a8,"vpn",0]: Saw the
service appear; activating connection
Dec 28 17:35:17 herex NetworkManager[942]: [1482942917.2729]
vpn-connection[0x1e9c3d0,8d0c94c6-bbf1-4cfb-8bd6-668b930537a8,"vpn",0]: final
secrets request failed to provide sufficient secrets

Is there any other way to troubleshoot this? Is someone else experiencing this
problem?
Again I'm on Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS

I'd appreciate any help on this!

thanks,
theresa

[Bug 319376] Re: No Dvorak layout for multilingual keyboards

2016-12-28 Thread Psychonaut
Sergey, I've been using Oleg's Russian "phonetic_dvorak" layout for
years. I can attest that it's very useful.

However, I think this particular issue can be closed, as the layout
seems to have made it into the official X.Org distribution this year:

[Bug 1572132] Re: SMB driver (SMBv2) does not show all files when mounting a windows top level share

2016-12-28 Thread majo
Hi@all,

I activated the dynamic debugging for readdir.c as Nish Aravamudan suggested.
However this does not produce any output in the kernel log since (as I
understand) most of the debug logging (cifs_dbg) is of type FYI which must be
activated seperately in the code by setting cifsFYI (in fs/cifs/cifsfs.c) to
CIFS_INFO. I think to do so, I have to recompile the kernel as Uwe Honermann
suggested.
Doing so, will that help anybody here?
As a reminder: The problem only persists for the smb2 protocol, so removing the
mounting option vers=2.0 fixes the issue. This is not an option for me, since I
need that protocol version.

Thanks in advance.

[Bug 1365844] Re: 0bda:8178 buggy driver rtl8192cu

2016-12-28 Thread Agustin Martin
For the records, I am having this very same problem with e TP-Link TL-
WN821N, shipped with a rtl8192cu chipset.

I have recompiled the kernel enabling Jes Sorensen driver,

## file: drivers/net/wireless/realtek/rtl8xxxu/Kconfig
##
CONFIG_RTL8XXXU=m
CONFIG_RTL8XXXU_UNTESTED=y

and added this line to a file under /etc/modprobe.d

alias usb:v0BDAp8178d*dc*dsc*dp*icFFiscFFipFFin* rtl8xxxu

If the dongle is initially connected, system loads the module when
booting but seems not to initialize the dongle, so I have no connection.
However, if I disconnect the dongle and reconnect it again with the
system on, everything seems to work well, no connection dropping. Only
minimally tested, but apart from the boot problem apparently much better
that with the built-in rtl8192cu kernel module.

Hello.

This issue is really annoying and critical. Phone does not ring when I
should receive a call. Caller gets message that I am not reachable.
Later I receive message that someone tried to call me. It is very easy
to replicate. I made three calls to my phone, second time my phone did
not ring at all. New OS release did not fix it.

Phone: Aquaris E4.5
OS: OTA-14
