[Bug 1570749] Re: Upgrade to 11.7 from May 2016

2017-01-03 Thread Ross Gammon
Yakkety and Xenial have already been released. Packages do not get
updated after release. Specific critcal bugs can be fixed through the
Stable Release Updates (SRU) process.

However, in the case of libav, this package was removed from Ubuntu
after the vivid release, in favour of ffmpeg. Perhaps you can use that
library instead?

[Bug 1590936] Re: reprepro still generates SHA1 sum

2017-01-03 Thread Dan Kegel
Your question
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/reprepro/+question/292432
did get an answer eventually:

"I fixed this problem by adding the following to ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf
(courtesy of https://www.osso.nl/blog/apt-insufficiently-signed-weak-
digest/):

personal-digest-preferences SHA512 SHA384 SHA256 SHA224
"

There's a slightly different answer in
http://askubuntu.com/questions/819641/reprepro-signature-by-key-uses-weak-digest-algorithm-sha1

Perhaps this is a doc bug, and the manpage needs updating?

[Bug 1652462] Re: No init after do-release-upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04 (kernel panic)

2017-01-03 Thread Skippy le Grand Gourou
I'm glad to see some activity on this report, however I'm afraid it will
be difficult to investigate further, because I installed a fresh 16.04
since then.

All I can say is I chrooted on the root partition from a live CD and
tried to upgrade with apt, and figured the installation was completely
broken with unsolvable conflicts. Not only fcitx, but dozens of
dependencies.

Sorry I can't give more insight, I didn't have much time to investigate
further and it didn't occur to me to keep logs.

[Bug 1653499] Re: libvirt display error after restart driver

2017-01-03 Thread Joshua Powers
Thanks for reporting this issue.

nl_recv is from libnl3. Can you provide the full libvirt and syslog to
see if there is any additional data that might help? Also do you have
identically configured systems that are also working as expected?

This message can happen when you have a number of I/O cards, especially
newer ones with SRIOV capabilities that require more buffer space, but
not sure if that is the case here. In Xenial the page size is set by:

 682 if (page_size == 0)
 683 page_size = getpagesize() * 4;

[Bug 1651944] Re: Kernel panic when we call pipework to setup virtual network for docker containers

2017-01-03 Thread John Johansen
Ignore the request to test the upstream kernel, for the moment.

In this case the apparmor code that is in the trace does not exist upstream.
Instead could you test the kernel in
  http://people.canonical.com/~jj/lp1648143/

While listed as being for bug 1648143, it contains several fixes
including a fix to the bind mount code. That will be pushed up to the
ubuntu kernel this week.

If this still exhibits the fault then, please test the upstream kernel
to verify that the bug is indeed in apparmor, and not being triggered
else where and showing up in apparmor.

[Bug 982316] Re: Deja Dup is unable to detect network connection

2017-01-03 Thread Geoff Seeley
I'm on 16.04.1 LTS and had the following error after configuring the
settings in the System Settings Backup:

   "Backup location not available
Waiting for a network connection..."

For me, the issue was with NetworkManager. After getting the above
error, I went to look at the Connection Information in the systray only
to get another error:

"Error displaying connection information:No valid active connections
found!"

Following: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager-
applet/+bug/305606

I found that my /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf had:

   [ifupdown]
   managed=false

so I changed it to:

   [ifupdown]
   managed=true

rebooted and now the backup works fine.

[Bug 1653505] Re: package samba 2:4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.3 failed to install/upgrade: problemas de dependência - deixando desconfigurado

Since there isn't enough information in your report to differentiate
between a local configuration problem and a bug in Ubuntu, I'm marking
this bug as Incomplete. We'd be grateful if you would then provide a
more complete description of the problem, explain why you believe this
is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a problem specific to your system, and
then change the bug status back to New.

If indeed this is a local configuration problem, you can find pointers
to get help for this sort of problem here:

[Bug 1652147] Re: UEFI secure boot fails after 14.04 to 16.04 upgrade

2017-01-03 Thread Brian Murray
ubuntu-release-upgrade should disable -proposed to prevent situations
like this. Please include your the file /var/log/dist-upgrade/main.log
which should contain information about your upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04.

DistUpgradeController.py contains the following code:

653 # Disable proposed on upgrade to a development release.
 654 if (not entry.disabled and self.options
 655 and self.options.devel_release == True and
 656 "%s-proposed" % self.fromDist in entry.dist):
657 logging.debug("upgrade to development release, disabling
proposed")
 658 entry.dist = "%s-proposed" % self.toDist
659 entry.comment += _("Not for humans during development
stage of release %s") % self.toDist
 660 entry.disabled = True
 661 continue

So you'd also see the above comment in /etc/apt/sources.list.

2017-01-03 Thread Emanuele Sorce
Maybe it's a already known information but I see that every string
composed of an x number of '+' is searched as only "+". For example
"+++" or "+++" or "++", them all are searched only as "+"

[Bug 1652586] Re: package python3-cryptography 1.2.3-1ubuntu0.1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2017-01-03 Thread Joshua Powers
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. However, I am unable to reproduce the error message
obtained above. I am fairly certain this is not a bug in python-
cryptography and looks more like some local configuration issue.

In this case, what you need to do is exactly what the message says, set

Can you check the password in network-manager view and edit it there?

I think that the "wrong password - enter new"-dialog does not save the entered

[Bug 1407928] Re: [phone] Does not auto-switch to available, known WiFi

2017-01-03 Thread Michael Mess
Seems still be broken in 16.04.1 LTS Desktop.
Note: The network I was experiencing this issue with is a hidden WLAN network.
When using a visible WLAN network, the issue might not occur.

Command line Workaround (see Bug #1542733) works for me to reconnect manually
(tested only on Desktop)
nmcli c up id

But I would expect that a reconnect always takes place automatically and in a
timely manner.
But my experience is: Sometimes it works, but often it does not.

Can someone confirm that it is related to a hidden WLAN network?

2017-01-03 Thread dunk
i can confirm i'm seeing identical symptoms on the same hardware:

1. When booted without the dock connected, connecting the dock only
allows USB and Ethernet to work, it does not support HDMI or DisplayPort
monitors. Re-seating the dock from here does not stop USB and Ethernet
from working.

2. When booted with the device connected, while the device works fine,
reseating the dock causes no adapters to work (No USB, Ethernet, HDMI
and DisplayPort)

[Bug 1653739] [NEW] budgie-desktop needs to display the nm-applet icon in the panel

2017-01-03 Thread fossfreedom
Public bug reported:

v10.2.9-2 has been recently sync'd via Debian.

The nm-applet no longer displays in the panel. This is because Ubuntu
has a specific patch to nm-applet that assumes app-indicators is the
default display mechanism not the X11 tray icon.

Thus Ubuntu Budgie needs a specific ubuntu only patch to run nm-applet
with the parameter --no-indicator

Note - whilst we do support appindicators - our appindicator
deliberately hides nm-applet because we follow upstream plans which
include a separate network-manager applet built specifically for budgie-
desktop. Thus we don't want future complications of both the app-
indicator and the separate applet both displaying the same info.

Additionally - those that install budgie-desktop without the
appindicator package will also need to see and use the nm-applet
functionality.

[Bug 1653687] Re: No sound after some time

2017-01-03 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1653687/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you

[Bug 1653721] Re: plantage de l'ordi n'importe quand

2017-01-03 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. We noticed that you were installing the LTS version of
Ubuntu using an older version of the installation media. The latest
point release of 14.04 is 14.04.5. Please try installing from that
version of the installation media and see if that resolves your issue.
Thanks in advance!

[Bug 1653176] Re: package php7.0-common 7.0.8-3ubuntu3 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 10

2017-01-03 Thread Nish Aravamudan
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 1653222 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1653222

I do not believe this is a duplicate, as no PPAs are installed (at least
relevant to PHP) in this instance.

But I do see that apt was *already* failing prior to attempting to
install lamp-server^:

/usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

from DpkgHistoryLog.txt. Given that there is insufficient information in
this bug to really debug further, it feels like this might be something
local that is already broken and things simply aren't installing.

It seems like this may have begun with the `apt-get autoremove` on

Command line work around as mentioned above worked for me.
nmcli c up id

But as configured the connection should be established automatically
when the network is available -> See Bug #1407928 for that issue.

[Bug 1542733] Re: Connect to Hidden Wi-Fi Network, "Connect" grayed out

2017-01-03 Thread Michael Mess
A tooltip in this dialog says that the connection is invalid (either
password or connection) on the connect button.

History:
I have booted from a 16.04.1 LTS Live CD and tried to connect to WLAN in order
to save some data before installing.
In my case I typed a wrong password (due to wrong keybord layout). Then the
network-manager asked me to enter the password again (I corrected it, but it
was actually not saved despite of clicking on save -> this is a second bug?)

Problem:
Manually connecting to a hidden network brings up the dialog, but the dialog
does not allow me to edit the password and editing in the connection view and
trying again as suggested by the tooltip does not enable the connect button in
this dialog.
Thus I was able to view and correct the password in the connection dialog, but
I am still unable to connect.

even trying a "/etc/init.d/network-manager restart" at the command line
didn't connect to WLAN.

[Bug 1651602] Re: [2.1.1] MAAS has nvme0n1 set as boot disk, curtin fails

2017-01-03 Thread Dan Streetman
> What should be the focus of the new bug?

I don't know why it doesn't work on your system, as it does work on
mine, so I can't tell you what to put in the new bug. Since your system
is smp with 2 or more cpus, it doesn't appear to be the same as this bug
(since this bug was taken over after you reported it, and all the
comments and info is re: the 1-cpu nvme regression that comment 26
addresses). You could try deploying without the nvme drive configured
in maas, verify it isn't available with the stock kernel, then load my
ppa kernel from comment 28 and reboot, and see if it appears. If it
makes no difference, you're seeing a totally different problem and
should open a new bug.

> Split off the fact that Denial
> cannot be deployed by MAAS?

I don't know what "Denial" is.

> Or is it still related to nvme, just
> differently?

no idea. That's why you should open a new bug and put debug info there.
