2017-01-25 Thread Joshua Powers
Thank you for taking the time to report this.

Per the error message above, the package you are trying to install is
trying to overwrite a file that already exists on the system.

Becuase this is a local issue and not a bug in Ubuntu I am marking this
bug as Incomplete. If you believe this to not be the case then we would
appreciate if you could provide a more complete description of the
problem, explain why you believe this is a bug in Ubuntu rather than a
problem specific to your system, and then change the bug status back to
New.

You can find pointers to get help for this sort of problem on the
community forums: http://www.ubuntu.com/support/community

[Bug 1641618] Re: Apparmor denials caused by virt-aa-helper trying to read zvol devices (/dev/zdX) should be silenced

2017-01-25 Thread Simon Déziel
Hi Christian, I was hoping for this to be SRU'ed to Xenial, when you
have the time. I started filling the SRU justification but would
appreciate your input for the regression potential section. Thanks.

** Description changed:

- Libvirt qemu-kvm guests backed by zvols (ZFS volumes) generate useless
- noise due to virt-aa-helper trying to read the backing device in the
- host (/dev/zdX). Other host's devs are already denied in virt-aa-
- helper's profile:
+ When a qemu-kvm guest is using a zvol or a DRBD volume or a NVME
+ partition, Apparmor denial messages are logged due to virt-aa-helper
+ trying to access the volume/device. Those should be silenced as it's
+ already done for Logical Volumes.

- # for hostdev
- /sys/devices/ r,
- /sys/devices/** r,
- /sys/bus/usb/devices/ r,
- /sys/bus/usb/devices/** r,
- deny /dev/sd* r,
- deny /dev/dm-* r,
- deny /dev/mapper/ r,
- deny /dev/mapper/* r,
+ [Test Case]
+ 1) Create a KVM guest
+ 2) Edit the guest's XML profile to reference a zvol|DRBD volume|NVME partition
+
+
+
+
+
+ 3) Start the guest
+ 4) Check dmesg for any Apparmor denials, there should be none with the patch
+
+ *Without* the patch, one would see those (or similar) denials:
+
+ audit: type=1400 audit(1479809919.223:4083): apparmor="DENIED"
+ operation="open" profile="/usr/lib/libvirt/virt-aa-helper"
+ name="/dev/zd0" pid=16715 comm="virt-aa-helper" requested_mask="r"
+ denied_mask="r" fsuid=0 ouid=0
+
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ Adding a couple of explicit denials to the virt-aa-helper profile shouldn't
cause no harm because Apparmor already denies those, this is just about
silencing this.
+
+
+ [Original description]
+ Libvirt qemu-kvm guests backed by zvols (ZFS volumes) generate useless noise
due to virt-aa-helper trying to read the backing device in the host (/dev/zdX).
Other host's devs are already denied in virt-aa-helper's profile:
+
+   # for hostdev
+   /sys/devices/ r,
+   /sys/devices/** r,
+   /sys/bus/usb/devices/ r,
+   /sys/bus/usb/devices/** r,
+   deny /dev/sd* r,
+   deny /dev/dm-* r,
+   deny /dev/mapper/ r,
+   deny /dev/mapper/* r,

Adding "deny /dev/zd[0-9]* r," would silence Apparmor.

able to telnet to it from a remote host and attempt to login. In

[Bug 1659348] Re: lttng-modules 2.8.0-1 ADT test failure with linux 4.8.0-36.38

2017-01-25 Thread Simon Marchi
I think this was fixed by this commit:
http://git.lttng.org/?p=lttng-modules.git;a=commitdiff;h=9889a003260b4fd46caba76c21be985f7205ac8f

It is included in releases 2.8.1 and up of lttng-modules, so upgrading
to the latest 2.8.x should fix that.

[Bug 1659358] [NEW] /etc/auto.sb is not directly usable in yakkety

2017-01-25 Thread Alexander Lelyakin
Public bug reported:

lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 16.10
Release:16.10
apt-cache policy autofs
autofs:
  Installed: 5.1.1-1ubuntu3
  Candidate: 5.1.1-1ubuntu3
  Version table:
 *** 5.1.1-1ubuntu3 500
500 http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu yakkety/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Package autofs ships with shell script installed as /etc/auto.smb

This script is not directly usable (at least in yakkety)
It has following issues:

1. Shell variables ${UID} and ${GID} will be 0 when script is called from
automounter.
Correct variables should be ${AUTOFS_UID} and ${AUTOFS_GID}.

2. Default location of kerberos cache file (at least if created by pam_krb5.so)
   is not /tmp/krb5cc_ but /tmp/krb5cc__

So instead of

if [ -f /tmp/krb5cc_$uid ] && klist -s /tmp/krb5cc_$uid; then
cache=/tmp/krb5cc_$uid
return
fi

should be something like that

for krbc in /tmp/krb5cc_$uid_*; do
if klist -s $krbc; then
cache=$krbc
return
fi
done

** Affects: autofs (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

Could someone tell how to implement Cascardo kernel without completely messing

[Bug 1657994] Re: Regression: HDMI audio produces no sound (Skylake NUC)

2017-01-25 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Can you test the following two early Yakkety kernels:

4.6.0-10:
https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/bootstrap/+build/10600030
4.8.0-11:
https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/unstable/+build/10923199

With these kernels, you need to install both the linux-image and linux-
image-extra .deb packages.

[Bug 1659323] Re: Microphone regulating itself on 16.04

2017-01-25 Thread Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it. You can find some hints about determining what package your
bug might be about at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage.
You might also ask for help in the #ubuntu-bugs irc channel on Freenode.

To change the source package that this bug is filed about visit
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1659323/+editstatus and add the
package name in the text box next to the word Package.

[This is an automated message. I apologize if it reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

I ended up using blueman that you can install from the repos. It just
works. On occasions, I have to unplug my dongle and re-plug to make it
work. So not really fixed, just worked around.

[Bug 1656605] Re: No server console display after Grub screen until fully booted and pressing Ctrl-Alt-F1/8

2017-01-25 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Thanks for the update. We can perform a "Reverse" bisect to identify the
commit that fixes the bug in v4.10-rc4. We first need to identify the
last bad kernel and first good one.

Can you test the following kernels:

4.5 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.5-wily/
4.8-rc1: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.8-rc1/
4.10-rc1: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.10-rc1/

You don't have to test every kernel, just up until the kernel that first
kernel that does not have this bug.

We can SRU the commit to all releases this bug affects once we identify
it.

It has been upstreamed to the Debian git repository. Given that we will be
looking at removing klibc from the initramfs altogether in future releases
(in favor of just using isc-dhcp), I don't intend to pursue it any further
than that.

[Bug 1491654] Re: Intel P3700 PCIe SSD string shows ''Unknown'' during Ubuntu 14.04 installation

2017-01-25 Thread Joseph Salisbury
Thanks for the update. We can perform a "Reverse" bisect to identify
the commit that fixes the bug in v4.10-rc3. We first need to identify
the last bad kernel and first good one.

Can you test the following kernels:

3.14 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.14-trusty/
3.16 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v3.16-utopic/
4.0 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.0-vivid/
4.5 final: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.5-wily/
4.8-rc1: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.8-rc1/
4.10-rc1: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v4.10-rc1/

You don't have to test every kernel, just up until the kernel that first
kernel that does not have this bug.

[Bug 1653162] Re: System won't boot after upgrade to 16.04 with 4.4.0 kernel

2017-01-25 Thread Joseph Salisbury
So the 3.13 final kernel hits the panic, but the 4.4 final kernel does
not, using the links posted in comment #19?

Can you also test the Xenial -proposed kernel? It is available from:
https://launchpad.net/~canonical-kernel-team/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/11877924

For that kernel, you need to install both the linux-image and linux-

[Bug 1650046] Re: application doesn't sync, it needs to be updated.

2017-01-25 Thread Robie Basak
Sorry for the delay. We had quite a backlog build up over the Christmas
period, when most of the SRU team members were on vacation.

@mapreri, please note that I had to re-upload to fix a couple of things:

1) The changes file didn't include Launchpad-Bugs-Fixed:, which breaks
SRU process tooling. Ubuntu's tooling (devscripts -> dpkg-genchanges?)
does this automatically. If you use a Debian system to sponsor an
upload, you have to patch or add this manually.

2) I ran "update-maintainer" to implement

That is a file that's autogenerated and updated at source package build time

Fix pacemaker down crm infinite loop

On corosync restart, corosync may take longer than a minute to come
up. The systemd start script times out too soon. Then pacemaker which
is dependent on corosync is immediatly started and fails as corosync
is still in the process of starting.

Subsequently the charm would run crm node list to validate pacemaker.
This would become an infinite loop.

This change adds longer timeout values for systemd scripts and adds
better error handling and communication to the end user.

[Bug 1659340] [NEW] Linux kernel 4.8 hangs at boot up

2017-01-25 Thread kjellahl
Public bug reported:

I've got an Acer Aspire V5-551G with a 64-bit AMD processor with dual boot,
Windows 10 and Ubuntu 16.10.

Ubuntu can be started and runs without problems with Linux kernel 4.4.0-45.
When I try to start with any of the 4.8.0 kernels delivered with regular
Ubuntu updates, they all hang after printing

  Läser in Linux 4.8.0-34-generic ...
  Läser in initial ramdisk ...

Sorry for the partly Swedish text. I guess that the lines would start with
"Loading" instead of "Läser in" on an English version.

The behaviour is the same with all 4.8.0 versions up to the latest 4.8.0-34
and with -generic, -generic (upstart) and -generic (recovery mode).

After a while the fan runs at full speed, as if the processor is working
hard, but nothing happens.

After I've tried in vain to start with Linux 4.8.0-xx, and then starts
with 4.4.0-45, the following errors are usually printed:

[ 2.511733] usb 4-3: string descriptor 0 read error: -22
[ 3.841872] [drm:radeon_scpi_init [radeon]] *ERROR* Cannot find backlight
controller
/dev/sda7: clean, 807007/9363456 files, 7364300/37423360 blocks
[ 21.335117] usb 4-3: string descriptor 0 read error: -22

When a successful start has not been immediately preceded by a failed start,
only the line beginning "/dev/sda7" is printed.

I have previously commented on bug #1635447. As recommended there, I've
also tested with the upstream kernel 4.10-rc3. It worked just as bad as
4.8.0.

I tried to report this bug with 'ubuntu-bug linux' after I had booted with
the 4.4.0-45 kernel, but I couldn't. It said that linux-image-4.4.0-45-
generic is not an official Ubuntu package.

[Bug 1646222] Re: calculation of needed free space in /boot is inaccurate and causes refusal to upgrade

2017-01-25 Thread Robie Basak
In reviewing 1:16.10.10 in the Yakkety unapproved queue, I see changes
to data/mirrors.cfg that aren't explained in the changelog or in this
bug. They may be sorting noise, but SRUs are supposed to be minimal. So
is this intentional?
